Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there currently heading down South for a week or so we had been going through some Mystery Caches to see which ones we qualified for & which ones were on our route this was on our list of caches to find today were towing a 8m Caravan so it made for some interesting times finding somewhere to park close to Ground Zero the cache ended up being an easy find, log-book completed & promptly replaced pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... Mil Amerianka reagovala velmi rychle, e event posune, e m cel den volno. Domluvily jsme se na 9.30 a vyzvedla jsem ji v Meki, odlovily jsme si zde keku, proly se po promend u jezera a pak spolu strvily cel den na kekch v okol. Kousek jsme popojely kolem jezera k challengi, co jsem vera nenala, a po cest navtvily i velmi zajmav lokln hbitov s nkdy dost netradinmi maorskmi nhrobky. Odpoledne jsme zajely i ke krsnm vodopdm Huka Falls, kter nejsou pli vysok, ale jsou dlouh s velmi silnm proudem a ndhernou modrou barvou vody. Naly jsme i mstn nejstar keku po krtk prochzce kolem eky a dal keku v lese sekvojovc i sekvoj. Nikdy nevm, kter strom je kter, prost Redwood. Tak mm dvod se tam opt nkdy vydat.In the morning I visited an event and picked up the owner of the event and we spent together a sunny day hunting for geocaches and exploring the city and its surroundings. After a walk on the promenade, we drove a bit around the lake, found a few caches and saw the local cemetery at a nice church. We also found a challenge where I was unsuccessful yesterday. In the afternoon we went to see the beautiful Huka Falls and walked a bit to the oldest local cache. The event took a bit longer, but it was a nice day spent in the nice company with LKLopez. Heading north from Turangi to Taupo, we stopped to find this challenge cache. There was no one in the car park today and so we could park close to gz. While searching for the cache we found an o ring, so thought we were close to the caches hiding spot. We soon spotted the spotted cache and after signing the log, we put the o ring back on and the container. #14,005. I am making my way south to Wellington but as you all know geocaching is not the quickest path between two points. Parked nearby and wandered back to the familiar structure. The site of past humiliation (still the only DNF recorded). I started where I last began and probed the edge. And bingo after 30 seconds I had it in my hands, Why oh why he cries. Surely I felt there last time. Obviously poorly it seems. Anyway we can all stuff up in this game. I am a habitual offender. Can't quite figure out how 14000 cache finds have accumulated with such bumbling. Anyway signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Phronimos for hiding it here. As you know from your other challenges I have now claimed the full jasmer (found every month hidden from May 2000 to Jan 2024_. My stats are there to be checked.

After spending a two night break in Turangi we were heading back to Taupo for an appointment and stopped on the way to grab this cache hide. Another time.

It's that crazy time of year where you blink and suddenly everything is happening! Blink! (Summer starts) Blink! (work finishes for the year) Blink! (you're driving across the country to spend xmas with a friend)...At least this year I'm breaking the driving up just a little Last night I spent the evening in Palmy, so that today I would be able to take a leisurely drive to Auckland, at a pace that would allow me to collect a few caches along the way that have been placed since I last did this drive.I've already found 3 other caches of this series so far, all nearer to my home than this one. But in those 3 cases, I'm still missing a single month so I've not been able to claim any of the finds yet. At least I knew I could claim all of today's finds immediately!This cache would end up taking me the longest to find. It is well hidden in the first place, but I also had the complication that about 50m away was a large SUV towing an even bigger boat on a trailer that had a completely munted wheel! I did feel a bit sorry for them, but at least they were a bit preoccupied to care much about what I was doing. Driving from Taupo to Wellington today with a few caching detours on the way.This was my first stop. The recent dnf raised concern and I didnt make my find on the first or second pass.Got there in the end. TFTC

No joy here. Must have just overlooked it since its had many recent finds. The steady rain was not helpful but I did search all along the edge of the concrete structure. Oh well another day it seems.

On a road trip south today after spending two weeks up north. I couldn't collect this on the way up as the road was closed due to a accident. Today it was all about finding that sharp turn into the pull over area from the north. But very nice to get off the road, stretch the legs, check out the grey lake and find a awesome cache that I qualify for - thanks Phronimos - list provided below.

We are continuing with these challenge caches on our way to Taupo today. This was our third for the day, and another that we qualify for. Mrs nzk waited until other cars left the rest area before searching. The cache was well hidden, the contents a little damp but otherwise ok, thanks Phronimos.

Found whilst on a weekend tidy up mission with ABCDF4 in the central region, very quiet here today.

Headed down to Taupo for a long weekend to attend the Possum Night Trail run on Saturday. Left Auckland early on Friday, getting stuck in the traffic on the way to Fielddays at Mystery Creek. Soon left the State Highway to travel down to Turangi.

I was on my way to Taupo from Turangi after completing the Tongariro River Trail. I completed the 14.75km circular route in 4 hours of caching.

Pulled off into the rest stop, which I had to myself. Took a little longer to locate this cache as I was trying to avoid the bumble bee hovering around.

Well that was a tricky find in the dark this morning. Stopped off there while making my way north this morning. Actually had a bit of a sleep in. Didn't get away until 5:30 this morning. TFTC

I am heading south. After missing the first entrance I took the second. Not great entrances when coming the wrong way. And unlike the last cache (the last of this series) there was only one place for the cache to be, or ore correctly, nowhere for me to get it wrong. So a nice quick find.

I was not geocaching in 2010. So I have no idea what I was doing. Probably was not even born.

After a trip to Rotorua to see the family over the Anzac weekend, I am heading home. I was looking at the map wondering what to collect on the way and saw this cache. Yes! I'll collect the set! Perfect! As far as Palmerston North anyway, as after that I have to go via the Wairarapa.

Nice quick find after checking i qualified while on my way to taupo for a jump, cache all in good order

On a road trip to Wellington from Northland and we collected this one on the way. This is a great way to get people out and travelling although the later years are a lot easier than those ones from way back. TFTC and what a great idea.

A long weekend and balancing the weather with what we wanted to do meant that an Easter Sunday trip to Taupo was what we wanted to do. We stayed overnight with our daughter in Taihape the night before which meant we were 45 minutes closer to the lake and enabled a sedate drive North grabbing occasional caches. On my radar for today was the remaining 'This was the year' challenge caches, a recce for the Stump Bay LBH caches and a new Ad Lab in Taupo, as well as the recent Virtual placement. As has been the story lately, not huge numbers, but a nice day out and some nice sites and sights. Cheers all COs.

Heading south for a week and stopped off to find things that were easy to stop off at as we were travelling. This one was the first we came across southbound and it was a nice straight forward find. No problems in qualifying for this one.

Stayed the night in my van at Whakapapa Village last night, first time to have done that and it was quite cool, although I must remember never to park up under the trees while it's raining, I was kept awake with drops of water hitting the van falling off the wet trees. I'm down for the weekend, for cache maintenance and to place a few caches too (including one for my 11,000th milestone). There are a series of challenge caches by this C.O all of which I qualify for, they have been a must do as well.

I'm going well here, still warm and when I parked up here, I was quite tempted to have dinner here out the back of my van. Just when I was thinking... a guy in a small car bounds in, stones flying everywhere, he parks up about 100m away, jumps out of his car, and stood beside the lake and at the top of his voice starts yelling or chanting, in Maori, perhaps he was praying, but it sure looked like he had to get it out what ever it was he was thinking about, he stood there yelling almost the entire time I was there looking, finding the cache and returning it! The things you see!

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… When it was suggested that we should travel over to the King Country-National Park, I was definitely keen. I intended to do a loop through here at Christmas, but my best laid plans didn’t pan out…

Now finally i can put together the necessary to log these caches after bottling 10kg of Peaches and a little bit more of pears all from our trees which greeted us when got home after visiting Rotorua . I qualify for nearly all of these except, of course , the very hard ones of 2001, 2002 and 2003 although very close to 2003.

Found quickly while having a bite to eat on the shores of Lake Taupō. I should really stop along here more often when travelling north. Qualified less than a year and a half after I started caching (and less than a year when I seriously started caching, with a find outside the Stats NZ building before it was damaged in the Kaikoura earthquake. Heading from Turangi to Taupo today. Had stopped nearby for another cache, when I saw this one was also a possibility. After checking whether I qualified (I did) we headed along the lakeshore to pick it up. It was a relatively quick find. #5850. TFTC.

Another long weekend, and despite the weird weather we've been having all over the country I still managed to get away up to Taupo (from Wellington) for four days of summer fun that included the annual Taupo summer concert as well as some lake kayaking and some geocaching.

I left Wellington straight after work on Thursday night and drove to Taupo. Despite the rain I was able to collect a few caches along the way. Friday was my main day for driving around the area and doing both the couple of Adventure Labs. Sunday was mostly about the kayak, and a particular cache that I could only get that way. And Monday was the drive home again for a few more road side ones on the way back home.

One of my goals for the trip was to collect all the remaining *That Was the Year (Mini Jasmer Challenge) caches that I qualified for, like this one.

We happened to be in the area to attend a family members birthday party, so took the opportunity to locate this challenge cache. We have completed all but 3 years (2000, 2001 & 2002 - fortunately we will probably be able to finish 2002 this year sometime). Will attach a copy of our stats as proof. The cache was a reasonable quick find, with thankfully no muggles close to GZ. TFTCC

With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.

This was day 10. We travelled from Waipukurau, to Napier and then on to Taupo today. A friend told me about this series when I was halfway through my trip. This meant I only managed to sign 2 of the series today. My qualifying caches are listed in my note 7.1.23. Another fairly quick find at gz which was good as it was time to turn around and find some accommodation in Taupo. I look forward to collecting the others in the series that I have qualified for and will continue to work towards the others that I don't qualify for yet. Thanks for the fun challenge cache

Well, with worldwide triple jasmer under my belt I knew I would over qualify for this, so it was just a matter of making the find, which we did this evening - in the company of Punga & Paua and Jagersmum. This took a couple of minutes as it was well concealed, but a nice find in a great spot. Joint [FTF] TFTC!!!
