I am back in Tauranga to sign off the completion of the P2P caches and the REALLY Side Tracked series in the Western Bay area plus a few others that might get in the way.I changed my blue frown to a yellow smiley for this cache.Cheers for the cache, Geckoh.
Cool geocache! Found this little gem while night caching! This is probably my favourite so far
Thanks for your amazing cache Geckoh. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Love the camo Sherlock. Another favorite from me. Cheers, Cympull.
Weve been meaning to do a day trip to Papamoa for quite a few weeks now but every week weve either had other obligations or the weather has been too bad, so we were pleased that today all variables were perfect. After a walk along the beach we headed over to tackle this pathway, which was our main mission for the day. After finding Mc Jandals series we continued on to make a start on these ones. We soon spotted the hint item but had to think twice before grabbing the cache as its a pretty impressive size and could potentially have been something else we wouldnt usually pick up (although funnily enough its the second cache similar to this weve got in a week so were more open to touching such things!!) Very very nicely done and appropriate this is number 2 of the series. A well deserved favourite point. TFTC.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we are currently parked up at the Welcome Bay (Tauranga) NZMCA Campsite we decided that we would take our bikes out to the Kaituna Wetland & park up there ride from there to Papamoa & back, have some lunch then walk the Kaituna Wetland Track the cache was easily found, log book completed & replaced Mrs McMike2012 liked the camo on this cache, so it gets a Favourite Point from us had to be a bit careful with lots of muggle cyclists zipping past on a regular basis pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,736 for us!
Good find with woolwood9 on a few days away.*This was the main area for us today - we got a shock with the signs at start (or finish) by P2P 25 where there were barriers and signs saying cycleway CLOSED. However detour took us to access near P2P 11 so we started there. Track is blocked off heading towards the higher number caches on the trail as well.*We enjoyed the trail and good caches for us to visit!SL *tm/ww NZ*Thanks for the cache. Another good one done!
Heading north with tmann421 for a few days. This was day three with plenty of miles for us to cover.Enjoyed the hide hereGreat trail along hereSigned log tm/ww NZTFTC
Have been meaning to tackle these two series for ages, and was hoping to knock them off before the end of 2023 to hit our 500, but just didn't quite get there. So, did the next best thing and hit them up on the first day of 2024 instead!8th find for the day today. Coordinates were spot on and camo was most excellent. Took me a minute to realise I had actually found the cache when I did find it! Fave point for the camo! Thanks for the placement. Another smiley on my journey.
Out and about with the shoebs family.Another nice, quick, easy, find, grab, sign and flee.TFTC
Searched and searched all around and under the wood piece and around the flax bush but couldn't seem to find it
It appears the Telecom/Chorus workers must have decided to 9take off with this cache, as it was indeed gone. Have replaced with a much smaller container but the hint still applies - seems unlikely the Telecom/Chorus guys will return. Fingers crossed
Chorus have been doing some digging next to the GZ and may have found the cache and removes it as I didn't find it. I found the circle of wood that would have been covering it.
A great start to our day as we finally got organised to come a collect some of the caches on a family bike ride. Success for the first with the not so little one. Coming up with the goods tftc
In the area today with junior cacher and Mrs stik-a-crane for some RNR, and luckily the weather decided to play ball for the time we were visiting.
Spotted this trail and managed to lock in accommodation reasonably close by, but still decided to drive closer to the trail start......was going to park at the boat ramp, but due to recent heavy rain, that option had been flooded, and no longer an option, so went a little further down the road, set up the bikes, and set off along the trail.....
The cache was all good.

Quick on the start of the biking trail, shame about the graffiti everywhere including signs and markers tftc
I needed a decent bike ride today and I could not ignore this trail any longer.
Started this end and really struggled with the stop start part of the ride however achieved a successful haul and a tough headwind home.
Please excuse the copy and paste that may follow.
Thanks for setting up this really good trail.

With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.
Today's plan was to get a few caches around Rotorua with high favourite points. We then wanted to head up to Tauranga via a few PWGT caches. As it turned out we only got one cache in Rotorua this morning as it was drizzling so we headed north to avoid the rain.
It had turned into a nice day so we decided to walk along here and grab this series. This didn't have us stumped for long. Thanks for the fun hides

Thanks for a quick find at GZ, not where we thought it wood be. TFGC

While spending my summer holidays in the Bay of Plenty to the east of Opotiki, an unexpected (in a good way) text message from a mate resulted in an impromptu visit to Papamoa. With both of us being unfamiliar with the area and wanting something to do, I suggested we go geocaching. He agreed and I began the online search for local caches.
This was the first cache we found of the day. After a very brief read of the cache description, we soon found ourselves out here to attempt at least a small portion of this cycle trail. We parked up at the end of Bell Road and began the short walk to the beginning of the trail. It didn't take us long to arrive at GZ to begin searching.
We spent a few minutes searching around but were unsuccessful. A quick look at the GPS appeared to show we were actually searching the wrong side of the cycle trail. I began looking on the other side of the trail and, using my past geocaching experience, very quickly spotted the hint object. I told my mate to go and lift the object which revealed the cache to us. He thought it was pretty cool.
We signed the logbook and re-hid the cache before continueing our walk along the path.

A nice quick find. I found most of the caches on the trail, but not all. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today we cruised from Whakatane to Cambridge.. The weather was fine and warm, and the Christmas traffic is stating to build!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Nice quick spot and thats a wrap on this trail. Now if only we could find the end. Continued along to the end of the path, and then it just ended. Like, did someone stick a paddock in the middle of the path? Backtracked and got to the gravel road and back up to what looked like a deadend fence but the contruction worker opened it for us. A bit of a lack of signage
Up from the Other Bay visiting family, and as it's such a lovely sunny day, it's cache hunting I go. Cache and log in good condition, had to place cache back between muggles passing by. Cheers
Got off work at lunchtime and headed out to enjoy the sunny winters day. Cold but not a cloud in the sky. Returned to complete this P2P series. Have driven past so many times and imagined I would return here with a bike but instead had to walk it. Still enjoyable with all the varied hides to break up the walk. Wasn’t looking forward to the flax hides however with the clear hints they were no problem. Took 2 hours to collect the remaining 18 caches. Cache and log all fine here. Picked up the trackable. Thanks Geckoh for all your effort in setting up the series.
Khonig and I have been talking about doing the Papamoa to Paengaroa trail series for a while now... and with the added bonus of completing some puzzle caches along the trail we decided that today was the day. Weather was brilliant... no rain and just enough cloud to keep us from over heating. Between us we had two cars so decided to be strategic about placement of the cars so we only had to do the trail once... thank goodness because we had tired feet by the time we were finished. Thanks so much for all the caches along the trail... a very well maintained and enjoyable experience.
Out walking the P2P trail in reverse numerical order from south to north this morning.
It did not take us long to work out how you Wood hide a cache here. Thanks.

A fun excursion with two of the kiddos. We parked nearby and walked up the path and had a look around. We got stuck, but the hint helped us out, and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
We are back from one trip and preparing for the next. A spare day and beautiful so we loaded up our bikes and parked close by. I have not had a good relationship with my new bike, so I am hoping there will be an improvement in attitude (bike or me??) This was the first of the series and I could tell this series was going to be a cut above the usual "chuck it by a post" style of power trail hide. We were almost snapped by a muggle on a bike with a petrol motor. Just as well he was loud! Thanks for the hide Geckoh
I was away from the BoP when this series was launched so it was great to have some fun caches to come home too...today was a dream day for cycling. After loading the bikes we headed off My first find was under a flax bush..Umm I thought I hope this isn't going to be a flax bush series..the cache was all good and dry qnd nicely placedthanks Geckho
Today is the day, regardless of the rain, that McJandals and I are doing this trail. Thanks for placing these caches.
Cheers

Needing some fresh air and exercise after a few days if inclement weather and a break from the computer (trying to solve a geckho puzzle), teamed up with Dee+ME. Armed with our bikes and fingers crossed it won’t rain off we went.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Logged with permission. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Great weather for biking so here we are starting out in earnest on this tempting cache trail. This gave us a good guffaw to begin the day, wood'nt you know it! Cache is all good. TFTC
Ooooh how exciting, a new trail of caches on a cycle path, and in the direction we're going!
Having joined up with mr rattll again, we left Kawerau and headed here. Mrs rattll headed off on the bike and this time it was mr rattlls time to do the dog sitting.
The last cache and I just about got muggled here. He probably thought i was just having a sit down after my ride!
Thanks for putting all these caches on this cycleway

A quick find in good condition. Had to wait whilst two-wheeled muggles passed. TFTC.
Finally we had a weekend free and this new trail gave us the opportunity to get back out on the bikes and dependent on the number of successful finds, also gain the final summit challenge souvenir which we had almost given up on.
ROS had been on this cycleway several times before but at a much faster pace than today.
There were a lot of passing muggles who offered help thinking we had lost something and the occasional runner who must have wondered why we made such slow progress when he passed us on his return!
We had been expecting someone to set this trail up so it wasn’t a complete surprise when the caches were published. Enjoyable

Thanks so much again for another great cache! And how nice seeing some old faithful names on the log
7919 After seeing this trail pop up over the weekend I decide to get on my bike and collect them. Parked at the northern end and took me just over 3hrs to do the round trip. with only 1 DNF. Will have to comeback for that one. Enjoyed the trail with interesting hides some of which I found a challenge to find. Thank you for all the effort in creating these caches.
2nd for the day. When I arrived at GZ I had a fair idea where the cache wood be. Thankfully this was correct and the log was soon signed.

We arrived at the Papamoa end of the trail late morning - unloaded the bikes and off we went. Interesting to see that the start of the trail has moved down the road a bit - the traffic lights are new too. How quickly the area is changing out here. As always, an enjoyable ride, and more bikes than we were expecting to see on a Monday. This was our first stop.
Dropped off trackable: Rugby World Cup 2011.
No sign in the cache of the Willis (#2) trackable, perhaps someone visiting before us took it.

Time to get the bikes out and tackle this trail. The first challenge was to navigate our way through all the new housing down Papamoa. We parked down the end of Te Okuroa Drive and hopped on.
Nice easy start out around the pond and on to the trail We have been waiting a long time for someone to set up a cache trail down here and at last we get to enjoy it Number 1 and and a saying camei into my head with a slight change “ you can’t see the wood for the flax” But no worries here and the cache was quickly found, log signed and moving on TFTC
