The time has come to retire the 2023 Rutherglen Mega Caches. We hope everyone enjoyed finding them.Robmc.

12-Apr-24
We set out this evening for our final run to collect the FTF series form the Easter 2023 Mega in Rutherglen. We figured we'd pick up a few traditionals as we go. Was good to find this one as we have collected a couple of Bernie H's pathtags on our travels. Thanks Robmc for another great cache.

Stopped here to find this one, the log book is rather damp but managed to still sign it Today on my way home from the Capital Geobash in the ACT, I made my way from Wagga Wagga to Rutherglen via Albury/Wodonga. I started off with the Pub series followed by a few along the way and a few small trails around last years mega. Unfortunately half way through the day I fell from a try about 6m up but was okay to continue on. Thanks for the cache

11:40Second day caching around Rutherglen on the way to Canberra. This morning n0w0rries and I concentrated on Multis. Needing one for the calendar, I think I might have overachieved... But only by a dozen and a half by lunch time, and a couple of dozen by the end of the day.Wait... this is not a multi! But it would be very un-neighbourly to drive past our mate Bernie without dropping in.Thanks, Robmc.#8474

An extended Easter holiday with +Wife, EveTheStaffy and nirgalagrin. We are travelling via Rutherglen to find the last of the MEGA caches on our way through. This is one of many geocaches found along the way. Thank you for the regular, traditional geocache, Thewins5 for the cache.

16-Mar-24
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Wending our way towards Canberra for the Mega. Orignally we planned a whole week here to collect the most smilies we could but alas plans had to be changed and now we are in a rush, with today being our last full day here. The plan was to try and collect the letterboxes and as many of the multi's that we had started in the past few days. Of course there were various others that we came across as we toured around. TFTC Robmc Cool

Needing some time out of the house, I thought I would head out towards Chiltern to grab a few more caches in the area. A nice quick driveby. Log signed and returned as found.

The sun was out so we decided to escape for a little adventure. Nice easy find, trackable already gone

Fortunately the rain had decided to calm its farm about now so dad didn’t get all wet like at the previous cache. And I had given up on the stupid eyephone and just used the force instead, which turned out to be far more accurate….this is why Garmins are king when it comes to caching.
So after signing the log we wondered what young Bernie was up to right about then…probably no good.

17-Jun-23
A quick find while doing an AL. TFTC.

08-May-23
In the area with AnyMules, brisal5 and 6Hinemoa2 signing all logs as BAB6 to save space in the log books or their personal stamp. This may be the ageing Bushfires last Mega as the effects of advancing MND continues to advance but as I said that after the Whittlesea Mega, we will see.
I must thank my three mates and lots of other folk for all the help that I have received over the last year or so for which I will always be very grateful. This cache was found on our travels around this great area while attending the Mega Event in Rutherglen early April 2023.
I am slowly logging these caches but I don't know if I will finish but time will tell.
You never know what life has in store for you so you must expect the unexpected.
Thanks to Robmc for placing this cache

With a name like Bernie H, commemorating our friend of that name of course we had to find this cache. It was located at a beautiful site not far off the main road. It was a good choice to put a cache here.

11-Apr-23
After lunch we set off to find more of the FTF series and stopped at any other caches we came across along the way. By now JMelb had taken over the driving and GMelb hopped out at each cache. We had to stop here and see the BernieH tribute cache! Cache was a nice easy find by JMelb

Found on my last afternoon around Rutherglen for my mega trip. Easy find at GZ, I was worried here that my engine was overheating because I could smell smoke but I realised it was because of the burning of fields all around Rutherglen; a heap of places must be doing it now that Easter is over. TNLNSL. TFTC Robmc!

In Rutherglen for the MEGA. A lovely, little relaxed town. Caching was the same... relaxed & took each day as it came.Mostly I cached with GoodLook, TheDame & feathertop. At these times we stamped logs as the Fabulous Randoms to save space. Your cache was found as part of this journey. Another fabulous day to be out caching. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for the enjoyment of geocachers... like me ??

I was fortunate enough to be invited on a roadtrip from Adelaide to attend the Rutherglen mega. Across the week we cached with many different teams and signed the log various ways, but most often my own team name/ initials, or as Fabulous Randoms. I spent most of our time with GoodLook, LiB and feathertop, but also teamed up with AnyMules, Brisal, micaparamedic and others.

What a beautiful area of the world to explore via the lens of geocaching.

Thank you very much for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]Big Grin

We had left our accommodation and had headed out of Rutherglen, on a round about route to our overnight accommodation in Wangaratta stopping for a few caches along the way and another LGA that we all needed. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache Robmc. Smile

10-Apr-23
Stamped as JAMS - JJ52, alllister w, mogni, sir_spectre. All of these teams are from South Australia and after some major planning we managed to find approx 700 caches while being away for a week. Also qualifiied for a variety of challenges, found LGA's and had lots of laughs. Found while attending the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen.
Thanks

Day 4 of the Rutherglen MEGA trip.
Out and about with biggles1024 around town, with dinner done & dusted, it was now time to find a few more caches before relaxing for the night, we had a few of the FTF EXP multi's solved so we headed for them first before making our way back to camp via a few more trads.
As we were driving along, we notice that Bernie was out here so we thought we had better stop by to say hello, we did that and then continued on our way.

**Thanks to Robmc for placing this cache.**

Quick find
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

**Find #5316**
**Traditional Find #3153**

Monday of the Rutherglen Mega Event. A fine but windy day and the wind was bitterly cold at times. Only one DNF today and we were able to find that on a return visit. Mostly mystery caches were found today including around six that we hadn't solved but were able to find by looking at proximity circles in Cachly and also looking for tyre tracks and cacher trails. An excellent assortment of caches and all were well placed. Apologies for this generic log but there were far too many to remember individual caches.

**Thank-you to Robmc for placing this geocache**

It was an early start to the day a couple of quick ones is Albury and then a couple in Corowa before catching up with Domsky and the Roddy’s for more adventures.

Today was my chance to finish off and clean up a lot of loose ends in town. We pretty much started at one end and worked our way around. I was in car for part and another team for the rest, I even got to play on some Escooters for most of the BBBT. It was a fantastic day for me as I got to sit back and see the sights as well as finish off different series and the ones as we passed by.

The FTF series was one we finished and the planets was another. Got in some adventure labs as we passed also. All logs were signed and the usual different coloured pens depicted on who got it first, lol. Thanks again for the hides and the puzzles.

Well it is finally time for The Rutherglen Mega and I was able to take a couple of extra days off work and come up early so I could get the most out of the Easter break.
After 4 big days and evenings the Mega is semi over as it has all been pack up.
A couple of events today as well as a few randoms and also chasing the clues for the FTF series so I can do them after lunch.
I have lost my caching buddy GemmaSistema as she had to head back home so I’m riding solo in this morning.
Day 5 and I’m heading off in all directions but I’m also heading back to Corowa to call in at the Whiskey factory to pay it a visit.
After making it back to the Mega site for lunch I then teamed up with Roaming Howie and OzHockeyChick to tackle the FTF series and any other random caches that we came across.
Who is this infamous BernieH that everybody speaks so highly about, I must meet him one day.
He definitely does a lot of work in the background that a lot of people don’t hear about.

Thanks Robmc TFTC.

Read some interesting information boards along the way.

Thanks for the cache placement Robmc and thanks FFLL for another fun filled weekend.

TFTCRobmc for your cache BernieH that we found today.
Day on the Rutherglen Mega site. Yesterday 25 multis were released for us to solve and find. We had them all solved this morning so it was a no brainer that we would head out . We also had the Ladders of Rutherglen solved. The morning saw us team up with 5 other groups to find the Ladders and also half of the Multis. After the lunch event we completed the multis as well as one of the Cellars ALs along with a few other random trads thrown in as we went passed. A satisfying day as the Mega is slowly coming to a close.

Found on the way to the start of the multi trail after lunch
