Love a piece of water tower or silo art! Always so unique. TFTC!

24-Sep-24
Answers sent to CO for due consideration.I prefer this angle showing Sir John Monash because the colours used on the artwork blend and respect the colour of the concrete tower upon which it is emblazoned. Plus it looked better in the morning sunlight as the poppies on the other face were in the shade.

24-Sep-24
Found & sent thru the requirements. I personally thought the pictures on both sides were AWESOME, my favourite side was John Monash himself.

What a weekend... Aim for this weekend was to hit my 3000th Cache and have an awesome time on the cache crawl. Left early afternoon Friday iwh the muggle wife and headed up to Macedon stopping at a few caches along the way.Checked into our hotel in Macedon and then heading across to Riddell's Creek for the pre crawl dinner. A great crowd and some tasty food then it was back for an early night.Saturday morning I woke to a lot of rain that continued throughout the day, first stop was Sunbury for the 7am meet a few caches in the town and then up the road to Malmsbury for a pie and a coffee, next was onto Bendigo for lunch and a walk around the lake. After that it was on the road again to Colbinabbin for a cup of tea and to celebrate Roaming Howies 18,000 cache. The painted Silo's are amazing... next was a drive up to Echuca to check into the hotel. After a brief rest and a walk along the river we heading to the pub for dinner, followed by a few drinks in the Gin Distillery. In the morning I headed over to NSW to grab a few ad labs before the breakfast meet and then it was back on the road again to Cussen Park in Tatura for the CITO followed by lunch. After lunch it was onto the final stop in Seymour to celebrate the mazing cache crawl and my 3000th cache on my 6th Anniversary of Geocaching. A massive thanks to every who helped organise and support the event, everyone who hid the caches and gave me pointers when I was stuck. What an awesome community we have. 793Km covered and 116 Caches found... not a bad weekend. Thanks for the cache and the hideLog Book has been signed and Returned or answers sent to cache ownerFind #3005

We found this virtual cache after attending the 2024 Cache Crawl lunch in Tatura. N liked the poppy artwork because of the vibrant red standing out against the cream backdrop of the water tower. TFTC Smile

Day 2 of the very enjoyable cache crawl and back to a 2 person team we are now heading south picking up what ever comes by.This was a double banger with fantastic art work on both sides of the tower and quite a lot of history as well that we knew nothing about before today. We met up with a few other teams doing exactly the same thing so it took a lot longer to collect the answers than it should have.Once that was done we emailed them off to the CO.We thought that the poppies looked fantastic so we chose that one. Many thanks for setting up this great virtual.

**Day 2, Great Victorian Cache Crawl 2024 (GVCC)**After the CITO and the walk in Cussen Park made us hungry, we settled into the pub for the Cache Crawls penultimate event. The meals were coming out pretty quickly but I wanted to get this virtual whilst waiting, so I dashed up the road and read the sign board and grabbed a photo. Hmmm I seemed to be missing an artist! Back at the pub (just in time!) my fellow crawlers pointed out the QR code and perhaps Id be interested in the website? Doh, why didnt I think of that? Thanks lorigus74 for the lunch event, the trads in Cussen Park, but for this virtual in particular. Loved it!Cache on ??*Throw off the bowlines. Lovely artwork on this tower, right in the middle of town. Mooroopna could take some ideas from this! We found this quickly before the lunch event during the Cache Crawl.

Brisal5 and ourselves had made the decision to attend 'The Great Victorian Cache Crawl' , with Brisal5 arriving at our home on the Thursday evening. The journey started Friday morning with both of us picking up the odd cache as we travelled towards Riddell Creek for the prequel event and then onto Sunbury for our overnight accommodation. The first event of the official weekend was at Maccca's and the excitement was building, then it was time to find caches and AL's along the road and onto Malmsbury for morning tea. Unfortunately it had started to rain with umbrella's and rain jackets out in force. The next stop was Bendigo where we were warmed up with micaparmedic's fantastic soup, thank you, here we caught up with friends and the usual geocaching chatter was all around us. I am sure you have the gist of how our weekend went, finding caches, chatting, eating all this on a loop until we arrived in Seymour for the final goodbyes. We cannot thank the committe enough for this exceptionally well organised weekend. All the caches and AL's that we found were all in good condition and not requiring any maintenance. SL TFTC

Found by Mary and David at 15:50. Enjoyed this painted Water Tower. Took our photo of the Monash painting. We both enjoyed RAAF careers, and D is an engineer, so Monash appealed with his own illustrious Military career and Engineering profession. Our thanks to lorigus74.

25-Jul-24
Well my well earned 2 week break has come to an end as Im heading home today after staying in Rochester, Hay, White Cliffs, Cunnamulla, Toompine, Charleville then Cunnamulla again, Wanaaring, Hillston then Tatura last night. The trip included some very big detours due to lots of road closures due to the rain but it was still a very enjoyable trip. The sun has disappeared now and there is moisture in the air as well.I havent cached in Tatura before but when I was younger we used to cut through here to get to my sisters dairy farm.Finished of 2 Ad Labs then onto a few others then to start heading home. After doing the wetlands I drove to the water tower to take some pics and and to complete this one. Both murals were great but I preferred the one of Monash himself as I liked what he stood for and what he achieved with his life.Answers have been sent to the CO.Thanks lorigus74 TFTVC.

Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.Heading across central Victoria we stopped in this little town which had a plethora of variety for us to do. Answers sent to CO.Thanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC

Found by The Empire + HAfter a cozy winter holiday in Echuca, we set off for Melbourne, with a detour planned to savour the famous vanilla slice at North End Bakery in Shepparton. The journey began with a gentle mist rising from the Murray River, casting a serene veil over the historic paddle steamers docked along the banks.Leaving Echuca, the road stretched out before us, bordered by fields that still glistened with morning dew. The countryside, though muted by winter's touch, exuded a quiet charm. As we drove, the landscape gradually shifted from the riverside beauty of Echuca to the pastoral scenes typical of Victoria's interior. Our route took us through Tatura, a small town rich in history and agricultural heritage. The streets were lined with charming old buildings and gardens that, despite the season, displayed a hint of the vibrant blooms to come in spring. Thanks for the cache lorigus74, answers sent.-MVirtual #252

Answers sent to COIve recently been travelling around some of the silo art in the state and the artwork on this water tower is just as good as a lot of the silos.I had to pick the poppies as my favourite picture as a field of poppies is a sight to behold

#5549 Enjoying a few hours in Tat with the geohounds on a nice day. Pulled up to the tower art to be greeted by a painting depicting the iconic poppies (we chose that one). Viewed the other stunning art work as we read the history of the tower and details of the murals. Answers provided. The main bridge across the river in Benalla was also a John Monash number, he got around back in the day. TFTVC lorigus74.

While visiting Tatura for a couple of days to attend the Central Victorian event, was very happy to find this Virtual. Loved both murals but choose the poppies as my favourite due to the vibrant colour of the poppies and the way they cascade down the tower. Photo attached. Answers sent. TFTC

26-Apr-24
After attending the ANZAC Event just down the street, we wandered down to the water tower with two beautiful murals. I chose Sir John Monashs portrait as my choice for a few reasons. Firstly I live in one of a pair of streets named after two World War 1 generals : Monash and Birdwood in Cowes. I actually live in Birdwood Avenue, but Monash Avenue is the next street. Secondly I feel Surrey John Monash is more interesting for his engineering accomplishments. Scattered around Victoria there are all sorts public buildings; bridges, water towers and other infrastructure designed by Sir John Monash. We have a lot to thank him for. Thirdly, the portrait of him was in better sunlight than the poppy!

25-Apr-24
Wow, this is so fitting for today, ANZAC day. Lest we forget.

25-Apr-24
Arriving in town for the lunch event, I had time to visit a few cache sites.I selected the Sir John Monash image as it reminded me of using the Monash light for navigating on Port Phillip Bay.Thanks lorigus74

A plan was hatched to go to my first Central Victorian geocaching event so we headed off with Snips and Co for a one day road trip from the south of Melbourne up to Tatura. Before heading to the event we stopped here for a photo and how appropriate for anzac day too. Thanks lorigus74 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

After camping last night at Ayson's Reserve, Chook headed off to Tatura for the Central Vic Annual Event. After enjoying a good part of the afternoon at that fabulous event, there was just enough time to explore a little bit of this lovely town via a couple of caches and these newly released Adventure Labs, before heading back home. I really liked both sides of the mural as they are so very different but both as important as each other. So I took a pic at both, but ended up choosing the Sir John Monash one. He really did amazing things. Thank you for this Virtual Cache lorigus74.

Camping at Aysens Reserve with a few friends for an extra long weekend, so a perfect opportunity to find a cache or two while up this way.Stopped here on the way to take the selfie and gather the info. I chose the poppies as its Anzac Day.Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, lorigus74 ~~

25-Apr-24
The tour of TAT using the caching model has been full of surprises and this rather fabulous mural is spectacular! Id say my fave is the gorgeous eye popping poppies. Im on a multi mission and the circuitous detour from Melbs to home base in the NE via Shep and Tatura has plenty of rewards including the EVENT thats attracted a huge crowd. A fave for this virtual.

Staying in Shep for Easter we decided to branch out and visit some neighbouring towns. Tatura did not disappoint with its beautiful township and attractions. We chose this side of the water tank as the detail was so intricate it reminded us of an old photo.

Visited with LittleBoss2 while heading back to Bendigo after a week in Numurkah. Always amazed at the scale of these murals. Photo of the poppies because the represent every soldier who fought for us, not just one. Thanks for reminding us of our brave history, fave added

14-Mar-24
I chose the poppies because the vivid red of the poppy came from the blood of their comrades soaking the ground. They are a symbol of rememberance

The house is being painted, we have an excitable puppy, so we decided to go away for 5 days up to Wakiti near Echuca using our Travel Auctions win. Very good value with lovely owners. Virtually no internet though so catching up with logging now.
This morning we were heading off for a day of caching and water tank or silo hunting in the local area and this cache was next. We somehow nearly missed the Virtual here, having to come back for it! Answers to be sent. It became apparent that we liked opposite sides of the Water Tower so we are uploading a collage photo. I like the John Monash side as MMelb our son went to John Monash Science School for years 10-12 and GMelb likews the Poppy side for the colour and detail of the poppy paintings. Photo to be attached.

After a drive to Shepparton, we took a slight detour back to Nathalia to visit a couple of virtual caches. The art here looks fantastic, and a well chosen design and character. The history here was really interesting to read up about.

A somewhat fitting Virtual Rewards cache as we leave the area.

I have been up to Gunbower, Echuca, Moama, and Shepparton with +Wife and EveTheStaffy for our Extended ANZAC Day Long Weekend break.

As we head south on our way home, we stopped here to honour General Sir John Monash.
What a brilliant and dedicated man he was.

We chose the Waterfall of Poppies as our favourite image, partly because I was born on Remembrance Day, as was +Wife's eldest son.

Thank you for placing this Virtual Rewards 3.0 - 2022 - 2023 cache lorigus74.

**Logged with Permission.**
*Thank you for the prompt response.*

Nothing better than visiting silo and water tower art especially with the added bonus of a virtual. Our first stop off in Tatura today was always going to visit this fantastic artwork and very apt as it was ANZAC day just gone. Read the informative sign then took a couple of selfies.
Thanks lorigus74 for the virtual placement, a great location to use it.

**Virtual Find #43**

Whilst in this part of the state for the Rutherglen Mega, I did a sweep of nearby locations to find specific caches and this was one of those.
I love all these murals and whoever came up with the idea deserves some sort of commendation. I chose poppy side of the mural because it is so colorful and also the sun was in the right place for me to photograph it.

**Thank-you to lorigus74 for placing this geocache**

TFTC. lorigus74 for your cache Tatura's Water Tower Art that we found today.
We are staying at our daughter’s farm block jut outside Shepparton. After the overnight and morning rain the sun started to make an appearance. We decide to head out to Tatura for a few hours caching. All caches found in good order.
We went with the poppy picture mainly because it was colorful.. It was harder to get a selfie with the Monash painting., but did that as well for good measure

Stopped to get the virtual as we heading back to S.A. Answers sent. Took photos with both murals.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

Found while out and about with the JAMS crew- JJ52, allister w, mogni sir_spectre. A lovely piece of artwork.
Thanks for sharing

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]Big Grin

Today started off wet when we left Wangaratta heading in a round about way to Bendigo finding caches in a different LGA and others that we had targeted, but thankfully the rain stopped around lunch time which was good. Cool

We spent a bit of time caching around Shepparton as we wanted to find at least 20 caches in this LGA. Big Grin Answers sent by sir_spectre and approval received. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache lorigus74. Smile

Rutherglen Mega Trip. [^] Day 10 - Let the journey back home begin. [^] It was a horrible drizzly rain sort of day but that didn't stop up find a few caches anyway. Wink We had solved quite a few puzzles before coming over so we just had to go and find a few. Cool

Our crew for the week for the mega was:
Bushfire
Anymules
Brisal5
6Hinemoa2
BAB6 for short and to save space in logs. Cool We stayed together for a few caches until we split and then it was just myself and Anymules. We took a targeted way down to Bendigo finding these along the way. Big Grin

Called past, snapped a quick selfie and sent off the answers. Smile

Found on our way home after attending the Mega Event in Rutherglen, searching for caches along the way. Today we spent a few hours around Shepparton and Tatura. before heading further afield. Enjoyed the visit to the Tatura water tower, being a big fan of silo art around the country. I appreciated the subtle tones, lights and shadows of the monochrome. Thanks for the Virtual cache lorigus74!

I visited this Virtual cache as I made my way back to Adelaide after attending the Mega Event at Rutherglen over Easter.

I chose the tower with the poppies on because of the bright colours.

Thanks lorigus74 for the cache.

Find # 12411

Rutherglen MEGA Long Easter weekend trip. Day 7 Home time.

This year with new tools and transport on board. Bike, ladder, poles and a variety of other items to help with the cache grabs.

Puzzles were all sorted before the weekend. Making way for the finds to come.
Plans sorted for cache attack days, between ladder climbing, power trail grabs and the large amount of ad labs in the area. Not to mention the MEGA site visits and numerous other events to attend.

My stat's of finds started at 11,886 before leaving home. Let's see what the final numbers are at trips end for the MEGA.

After a full on weekend it's time to head home from the Rutherglen MEGA... there was lots done, lots seen. Thanks to all.

Another great big artwork. Lots around to see now a days.

On our way home from the Mega, on a detour to pick up caches along the way, including adding to our LGA count, picking up some caches for challenges and a scenic view. Petrol was getting low, so a stop in town to fill up. We found this lovely artwork, and loved the details.

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 12392.

Cool tower with a lot of history. I chose the poppies for my photo as it celebrates all service men and women. Stopped here on the way through town today.

Thanks lorigus74 for the cache.

Day 1 of the Rutherglen MEGA trip.
It was an early start to the day so that a few caches could be found along the way, this being one of them and then onto the ones around Rutherglen to join in on the fun with everyone else that is searching out here.
I don't really have a favourite between the 2 arts, they are both just as good as each other in their own way.

**Thanks to lorigus74 for placing this cache.**

I am making the long journey from Adelaide to the Rutherglen Mega over Easter. I missed the Wangaratta Mega event a couple of years ago so I am giving myself an extra few days to explore the wider area.

A stunning mural. Although the colour of the poppies were very vibrant, I preferred the quiet, dignifying look of the officer. Sadly the photo is ruined by my ugly mug.

An interesting little town out here. It was interesting reading about Monash too

Today Courtneyrose_ and I made our way from Sydney to Rupanyup Vic driving just over 1000km for the day. Along the way we focused on mostly virtuals and found a few others along the way.

Thanks for the cache

I spotted some post CSI events on the calendar and since I had a few days up my sleeve I hatched a plan to do some travel to connect them all up.

I parked up for the night just outside of Benalla and after a relaxing morning I headed off towards Shepparton and the afternoon CITO.

I was almost at the CITO but had to stop for just one more ??. Answers submitted to the CO.

Thanks lorigus74 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Cool art. The soldier was my favourite as it looks like my friend's Dad. Tftc
