Such a beautiful day to be visiting a beautiful place and a great GC with a favourite Point to be added.TFTCBFMC
TFTC:). Sent the answer to CO. Thanks for the virtual. A nice walk by the water.C.C
Spending a couple of days in Geelong, strolling along the waterfront finding caches and AdLabs. Thanks for the cache!
Photo didn't attach to my log and the app won't let me edit. I'll fix it properly when I'm on a proper computer.
Answers sent (and photo attached), thanks for the virtual cache! On a day trip to Geelong, so many ALs and other caches to do.
Chewbacca72 and I are traveling during 4 months through Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. A few caches that are on our way should not be missing. This cache is one of them. Many thanks to BFMC for this cool virtual.Best regards, searchersab
Had to find a spot to lock up the bike, then came in for the shot. Will send the required numbers soon.
After a trip to Tassie, we stayed with my daughter for a few days while we recovered and while waiting for her to finish work, why not find a cache or two (or three or four.). In my many visits to Geelong, we have been here many times while it has been operating and taken the grandkids. My turn to have some carousel fun!
Found with BindiGuider late afternoon with a chilly wind blowing. Interesting walk along the waterfront. TFTC
I visited the Geelong waterfront together with Muckel1 and saw the beautiful carusel. Thanks a lot for this nice virtual Cache,Murkel13. September 2024 09:32
Murkel and me visited Geelong this morning. We made a nice walk along the water. The building was closed, but we found the answer and sent it to the owner. Thanks for showing us this place
TFTC BFMC for placing this cache, number 14724 for me. A great use of a well deserved virtual. Photos attached. Unfortunately , we visited before the building had opened, so the outside mural is the best we could manage. A truly beautiful spot, and I'd love to see the Christmas tree! Additional info requested has been sent to the CO via Messenger. I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
The pavilion was open, so I got to go inside and marvel at carousel *owner_name|*, I found Waterfront Wonders - Virtual Reward 3.0 today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
**Found with the beautiful GoodLook.** After a nearby CITO, the Tritonz, Ausfox, GoodLook and I adjourned for a coffee at the seafarers before we parted ways. GL and myself made our way to GZ and *grabbed the required photo* The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more than a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less travelled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. Power trails just aren't as much fun by yourself. The weather was glorious, the vistas stunning, the coffee shops and pubs wonderful and the company divine. Thank you BFMC for highlighting this area and for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. Appreciate your efforts. - PThanks for the virtual BFMC. **Virtual** *#98***Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Cache on! **#18943**
Day out caching with sassieold55, we did the Geelong Bollard Tours and picked up this virtual on our way. Had a great day with perfect weather for caching and the carousel was getting plenty of use. Thanks for bringing us here.
After a nice lunch we wandered down to the waterfront as it was such a nice day. I didn't want to get anyone's kids in the photo, so taken from a distance. Tftc!
So BackPaqer calls me and wants to go and get over a 100 caches today... Challenge accepted..So meet at Westgate Park in Melbourne at 8:30am but can't get parked due to a go-karting event, so head down the road and find a parking space which leads me to the first cache of the day. Then I pile into BackPaqers car and we head to Point Henry South of Geelong. A few caches picked up here and an ad lab and then back into North Geelong for a few more ad labs. Then into the Botanic gardens for a walk around and you guessed it more ad labs. Then we took scooters and rode along the foreshore getting all the ad labs on route.was great to bump into two seperate Geocachers, who both came over to say Hi.Then it was back to the car and we parked in the centre of Geelong while we picked up a few virtuals and more ad labs.. then the journey home began stopping on route for a multiple and some more traditionals.. final count is 115 caches... pretty good for 6 hours...Thanks for the cache and the virtual hidelogging requirements have been metFind #2861
Given the great weather and our absolute laziness in doing all the ad labs through Geelong on scooter, we popped by for this one. Phone number on it's way to the co. Thanks again.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - ALL7 [^]
We parked at nearby car park for a quick stop and quickly logged this cache. TFTC.
Stopped here on our group walk along the Geelong foreshore from Rippleside Park to the Phases of the Moon Sculpture, and return. The carousel was well patronised - and there are way more bollards along the foreshore than I ever knew about! Best photo I could come up with here was our team Alsume geodog Shadow in front of the carousel.thanks BFMC
A bit wet today, but we are exploring and caching anyway. Thanks for the cache.
#20735 - 16:25; Arrived in Geelong this afternoon to catch the Spirit of Tasmania and headed down to the waterfront for a look around while we filled in some time prior to boarding. Visited the carousel, grabbed a snap and sent the answer off to the CO, who came back with a very quick OK. An interesting area, with plenty of caching opportunities too! A fave for the location. TFTC BFMC
Lots of memories here at the Carousel. As a kid I would demand to ride it every time we walked past it. Anyway, photo attached and answer sent. Thanks for the virtual!
Continued my wander along the esplanade. No Christmas tree to be seen at this time of year. Answer sent to CO and photo attached. TFTC!
What a glorious day walking along the foreshore. I even caught the little path train which was fun. In Geelong for a friends birthday (from WA), I became the tourist today and completed the virtual! Answer sent to the CO.
Day 12 of our roadtrip in Australia. Had a great night in Apollo Bay with the sounds of the ocean. Tasty breakfast in the morning and then off to Melbourne, stopping a few times along the road for Earthcaches or interesting towns. Enjoying a walk along the waterfront and visited this virtual along the way. Nuce carousel! Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. From day 49/74, I was accompanied by my dear son, geocacher Ruupertti, who travelled from Finland to visit me in Australia and to spend a holiday with me in New Zealand at the end of my secondment. Day 58/74, Tuesday. Today our working day was in two parts. First, we worked several hours in the morning. Then we headed to Geelong just to look around, enjoy the sun and geocache a bit. We had a lovely day there! After some fun we drove back to our accommodation and continued our working days with various online meetings to Finland. The answer has been sent to the CO and a photo is attached. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
Goldy and Jimmy are spending a few days in Melbourne to watch some of the round 1 AFL games. We are attending the following:Carlton vs RichmondCollingwood vs SydneyGeelong vs St KildaMelbourne vs Western BulldogsI found a handful of caches in the Melbourne city area and a bunch in Geelong since I'd never been down that way before. We picked up our hire car at 10AM and drove towards Geelong. We picked up some caches before lunch and then headed to Bells Beach and surronds before the footy game.We were walking along the water and stopped to do this virtual. I've sent the answer to the CO and have uploaded the photo below. My mum would love this. She loves carousels as they remind of her childhood. I'll have to bring her one day.We took the photo from the outside as people were on the ride and I didn't want to seem weird. It is hard to see but it's there and our names are on the paper. Thanks for the awesome virtual. Thanks BFMC for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 4069 on the 16th of March 2024.I appreciate all the CO's who spend time and resources contributing to the Geocaching game board.Shoutout to the reviewers who dedicate time to make sure our game is safe and enjoyable.I look forward to attending GCACHF8 in Sydney in early 2025. Hope to see plenty of people there!
Kinda weird this carousel music is playing so loudly over the speakers and its not running. lol. Visited with the team beavar mascot at 3pm.
Found by caughtatwork on 10/03/2024 at 4:51:00 PMA simple and easy virtual today in the 40 degree afternoon weather.Took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches.*Overall Experience: 3*GAFF1
Rated: for Overall Experience
Cool, a carousel, just bit small for us big kids. Saw wedding pics later in the day here, interesting spot to pick for them. Anyway... answers sent to CO. Tftc
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip. Now has Ellen Sch, MrVon sr and Insve started on their jurney home to Norway so we now sign logs with our nick.
Out on a geocache trip with Ellen Sch and ingsve on holiday in Australia, and today it was this area that was prioritized?? ???? If nothing else is mentioned, we found the cache at good coordinates and it was fine???? To save space in the log, we often log in with the nickname N3 Many thanks to CO for laying out and maintaining this ?? ???? ???????? ???? Greetings from Norway?? ???? ???? ???????? ????Hilsen fra Norge?? ????TFTC
EnglishWe are 4 Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrVon sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N3 (ingsve, Von sr. and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
A long planned trip away finally came to fruition as we headed off to Geelong after a gap of some years to catch up with caching friends. There is always a good variety of caches and hides to search for and Geelong itself is a pretty spot with lots of places to explore. Plenty of history and lovely scenery with the bay, riverside, open paddocks and bushland. We particularly enjoyed the many trails and riverside paths where Mrs SKI could give her new ebike a workoutA great time was had with lots of laughs and ribbing as we searched for the various caches and wondered what we might find next. We also had the chance to catch up with some great local cachers on a lovely evening out.Logs signed as SKI Pair, SP or RASP.Answer sent.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache BFMC.**SKI Pair****
Many years ago we used to take ouer grandchildren here. Greetings from Norway, TFTC:)
What a wonderful location for your wedding. After an early dip in the sea for an event, we wandered along the waterfront collecting information for a couple of Ad Labs.Stopped to check out the carousel and took the obligatory photo. Shame it wasnt in action today.Thank you BFMC for highlighting this area for us. Answer submitted to CO.
Headed down to G-town a little early today so I could tick off a couple of AdLabs, and sign off on this virtual.A shame it was a little too early for the carousel, or I'd be on it in a heartbeat! Thanks for bringing me here by placing this virtual cache, BFMC ~~
Perfect day to be down by the beach today, lovely weather, good vibes. Great to see (and even ride on) a lovely old carocel. There is something just magic about watching the horses dart up and down dreamily. A lovely experience. TFTC!
A number of times, we have planned to attend an event in Geelong but have never made it. Today, we changed that trend. Leaving early, we were able to do the local parkrun and attend the swimming event. Then it was time for breakfast, and after that, collect some geocaches. Getting clise to 6,000, so need to collect a number, but not too many.It was lovely to see an old carousel here and got to watch it in action. Thanks for the cache, BFMC.HunterPS. Logging without permission but message sent.
Came here in my last day in Australia, thanks for bringing me here and thanks for discovery !
Lucky to visit just after Christmas to see the floating Christmas tree. Thanks for the virtual
Walking along the waterfront I was very excited to take a picture with the tree. Noticed this cache later so doubled back to take a picture with my username!
Here we are getting ready for the early fireworks with the kids, so out comes the app to see if there is anything close. And what do I see, a virtual and I'm smack bam in the middle of the two. I go straight to the wife with her magic handbag and ask if she had any paper and writing stick. She found the paper easy enough but we had to improvise with the writing stick and used some lip stick.
I was here on 22nd Dec for the event but didnt read the cache page correctly and forgot to locate the phone number in order to log. I was back tonight with the kids and after we watched Willy Wonka at the movies we headed down here to check out the lights again. It was darker this time and the lights looked amazing. Thank you BFMC for Waterfront Wonders - Virtual Reward 3.0 for us to find today.
A failed venture into the Geelong township expecting the library to be open, alas it was closed between Xmas and new years and not updating Google accordingly. All made better by finding the odd cache or two on the way back to fyansford. answers sent to CO tftc
We dropped by the Geelong Waterfront on the way to the family Christmas lunch so I stopped in for a visit to the floating Christmas tree in deference to the season. A nice quick find at 10:40 and we were soon on our way. Thanks and Merry Christmas BFMC.
**#17'574** During my visit to Geelong this Virtual **Waterfront Wonders - Virtual Reward 3.0** was also on my bucket list...It there a better timing to go to the floating Christmas tree, then at X-mas? It was at daytime thou and I missed the lightshow; it must be fantastic! The research for the logquestions was not very difficult...I took a photo at the location to attach to this log...Thanks BFMC, for taking me to this interesting place and for the placement of this virtual cache. Christmas is fast approaching and another well themed event is on the cards. I have not seen the Geelong Christmas tree before so I jumped in the car and ventured down to G-Town. A perfect way to combine an event and a cache. The tree was the focal point of the event which lead to being able to opt for the seasonal option for logging. Thanks BFMC for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. It was a great day out!----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Are you ready to nominate in the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards? I really wanted to see the tree fully lit. So after picking up dinner and heading back to my cabin to rest up, I returned much later. Parking was still busy but got lucky with a close spot. It was quite nice just enjoying the foreshore, very busy with so many people but a nice atmosphere with the lights and music on a mild evening.
Answers have been forwarded for approval.Geelong is a place we have frequently visited over the years. The carousel has always been fun and the floating Christmas tree something to see. A great time to visit this virtual thanks BFMC and have a great Christmas.
Loved our walk along the waterfront. The carousel looks scary but the Christmas tree is still looking great all this time on. Id forgotten all about the crazy mayor I remember watching a doco on him years ago in the UK after Princess Diana died. TFTC and for bringing us here ??????
Did both of the photo tasks here and a nice place to visit whilst passing through the area. Cheers and Merry Christmas. After the rain in Melbourne yesterday, for our wedding anniversary, we were keen to stretch our legs, and horizons. I trip to Geelong was mooted, the train ride was cheap and nearby and the wee seaside town seemed to have some charm. IN addition its my birthday so a little amount of caching was factored in. We managed a few Virtuals, a 'few' Ad Lab stages based around bollards, quel surpris, and some other random others. Big thanks to all COs for their accommodating placements.
The geokids are enjoying the carousel while Darrens silver tree floats about outside. Christmas in Geelong!
In Geelong to attend a few events today. Grabbing a few caches inbetween, even though it is a cool day.Stopped passed here on the way to the morning event but decided we needed to return at night to see what it looked like in color. Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
How cool you guys were married here in such a gorgeous spot! It was raining when we were here but still gorgeous I wonder where the Christmas Tree gets stored? TFTC BFMC
We love wonders and wonderment! Love to be here at night too. Travelled far from home base to attend a few Christmas geo-events today. This is a nice attraction in the misty morning. TFTC
We had visited this some time ago but didn't realise there were two parts to the logging requirements. Back again today and completed the final part at last. We hadn't seen the Christmas tree so it was great to get to see it. Thanks for bringing us here with this cache.
At last we have visited Geelong again so we took the opportunity to finalise this cache. We didn't read it properly first visit and didn't realise that there are two parts that need to be completed. As I had never seen the Christmas Tree, I was more than happy to visit again. Thanks for showing us this great carousel, and tree, with this cache.
I have admired this carousel on numerous occasions when i have been in Geelong and on this occasion I was prepared to log this Virtual cache as a find. Thank you for the information you provided in the cache description.
Had a few hours to kill before heading back to thr airport. Took the little one on a ride of the carousel and then watched some workers checking that the lights were working on the christmas tree. TFTC
As the festive season is rapidly approaching, the floating Xmas tree has returned to the waterfront once again. This means that until it is again towed away to storage early in the new year you may qualify your find by using logging task 1 or 2 (you can do both if you wish, but only one or the other is required)
Out and about again, day 2 in Melbourne with muggle geo-son. Did heaps of km and ticking off a few LGAs. Had a couple LGAs we wasted a lot of time on and still didnt find one.Had dinner in Geelong and headed back - pretty late.Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds todayThanks to all the COs for the hides I found.
Found today at 1312 with GeoWife and GeoRodent.Took the old girl for a ride... And the carousel too.
TFTC! 24 October 2023 2:37:29 pm 6267Thanks for the excuse for a visit to the waterside side This afternoon. A little windy to say the least but completed and sent the answers to the CO. Enjoyed the walk to do some of the bollards caches.
TFTC. I found this one but dont know how to contact the CO. I have a photo of the number
Had time for one more cache before we left this lovely spot. Hope my name is clear on my pathtag.Thank you BFMC for the cache.
