Message sent with answer. Photo attached.Getting a few caches before getting the ferry back this evening. Having a lovely walk along the coastline. Thanks for placing this virtual cache and bringing me here.
Doing a bit of night caching around the area and this one was on the way back to the caravan park. Can't see any photos at night time apart from mine. Thanks for the virtual cache!
A family trip to Tasmania during the school holidays since I was the only one who had ever been here and that was only 2 days in Hobart. So there will be a bit more exploration this time since we flew to Launceston instead for the start of the trip. Nice and cold and windy today. Thanks rhubarbroad for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
Find# 12111We are on a two-week driving tour of Tassie. We're based in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney NSW.TFTVC rhubarbroad
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13584.My answers have been sent via the message centre for this one and my picture is attached to the log. An interesting sculpture I can understand the concern regarding cost. Thanks rhubarbroad for the cache.
This second virtual and this one made by rhubarboard nice to see it and the vertex has been painted red again, came along at 14:20 17/06/24 doing this one along with a multi-cache by the CoxFamily7310.
Tasmania Trip Day 3. I was really happy to make the overnight crossing to Tasmania without any issues at all. The slight rolling did not even tip me out of bed. Getting up in time to disembark around 5.45 am was the only challenge, but I did get to visit two caches in the dark before breakfast. I spent quite a bit of the morning caching around Devonport and along he waterfront before circling out a bit to find the four counties on offer before I started along to Burnie, which was a lot closer than I realised. I visited a few interesting locations and then got set up at my accommodation in Burnie. It is supposed to be a heat wave, but it seems pretty cool here to me.I had a good look around this artwork and fund the information you asked for. Plenty of people were out for any early walk. Thanks for the cache rhubarbroad45807.13 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2020 Community Volunteer Tag A#428**Albida**
Answers sent to CO. frmen1 enjoyed our walk before the sun (UV) was becoming too strong. An interesting sculpture that would make a great climbing frame lol TFTV
I have to say that this type of art is not my cup of tea if we are comparing the Vertex to the Spirit of the Sea, then Neptune wins hands down for me. When I first saw Vertex I thought it was a piece of exercise equipment! Good to have the history behind it explained in this cache description and good to have the discussion I guess. The Devonport Council do seem to spend their ratepayers hard earned money on some interesting things . the bridge to nowhere sticking out of the Mersey comes to mind! The walk along the foreshore was spectacular however. Thoroughly enjoyed it the parklands and trees. Thanks for the virtual cache rhubarbroad. Photo provided and answer sent to CO.
It is quite a strange one, isn't it. Definitely needs a swing. It's interesting the different feedback depending on whether the piece was privately or publicly funded. Clearly philanthropists should be donating to these odd arts instead of the general public, less ire. Probably a tax something. Win win. Photo and info sent. Thanks for the info and thought provoking convo material and congratulations on winning a virtual reward! Here's a photo of another random statue for your entertainment.
Another controversial sculpture in Devonport! Love the new spruce up it got in February 2023. Does it ever get climbed on? Anyway we discovered this very red sculpture at 3.36pm as we were gathering clues for a looonnnnggg multi. #10,532 TFTVIRTUAL rhubarbroad
This afternoon we headed back into Devonport from our riverside camp to find the city center caches. Its a nice little town that we enjoyed exploring. Very walkable, we are looking forward to the coming days and doing some of the coastal and riverside walls. Our thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining caches for us to find.Interesting sculpture and history very exy. Some heavy duty steel in there looking very red! TFTC
It was a lovely, fun filled week with good friends as we explored Tassie and its many delightful treasures. Definitely a holiday, but a holiday with that type of friend that steps up when needed, so they were very supportive of my need to detour or disappear occasionally for a cache. 'Are you loitering again?' as they called it... my loitering at trees, bushes, walls, signs, bridges, statues... well, you know!I was keen to visit this virtual but wasn't sure if we would get time. Luckily, as we passed, there was enthusiasm to drive into Devonport, perfect as I had just this location in kind! While my friends explored the foreshore, I was able to make my detour here!
#762 ~ Completed this cache with Krossbo whilst collecting a few smileys before we head off on the Spirit or Tasmania to make the trek back to QLD. TFTC rhubarbroad!!
A trip to Devonport with Goose as we both had a day off. I certainly needed a break as I hadnt really had a day away just caching for a little while. Great day, with the odd shower, but I managed to find quite a few caches as well as get two FTF's which is unusual for me to get even one. The highlight of the day would probably be the FTF on the Hancock clan's cache on the midlands highway. A very cool cache. Thanks for the cacheAlmost forgot to log this cacheGreat place for a virtual
A daytrip up from Hobart with budgietas saw as finding a handful of caches around the Devonport area. I feel like I have found so many caches along the water front here yet there are more since I did the previous run. A least this one won't go missing easily! Requested details sent to COThanks for the virtual cache
Our first Tassie geocache. We just hot off the Spirit of Tasmania and looking for coffee. Answers sent. Tftc

Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip.
Day Three: Tasmania’s North Coast
Weather: sensational, like spring, until the sun went down …
Answer submitted and a prompt reply received, along with a warm welcome, which is one of the reasons we mainlanders love you Tasmanians so much. Not so sure about your taste in art though. This isn’t doing it for me; too much geometry, I can’t see the creativity. I felt the same way about “The Vault”, also a Virtual in Melbourne. I quite like “Cloud Gate” (“The Bean”) in Chicago - I’ve just checked, and yes, that’s a Virtual too, with 1600 FPs!!
Thanks for the thought provoking Virtual rhubarbroad.
It’s officially a mega.

What can i say about this object. I bet it's heavy. that big slab of horizontal steel about chest height must weigh a ton!
Hate it or love it, it is most definitely......... "Different".
I actually like it.
In a playground the kids would be all over it ha ha

Jetstar was having a sale…. in the middle of winter, for a destination further south than I already live. That sounds like a great idea!
So a plan for a 4 night whirlwind tour of the northern part of the state was hatched. I’ve seen lots of this beautiful state, but haven’t found a single cache. With plenty of challenges to tick off, and a long list of targeted caches, this week is the time to turn that around.
After flying in last night, today sees an ambitious schedule with plans to cache all the way to Ulverstone for the CITO and event, and then on to Stanley.
Another virtual and another cool location to explore. I collected the info and took a happy snap, but didn’t stay long as there is so much time and so little to do…. Scratch that, reverse it!
Thanks rhubarbroad for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

OzHockeyChick shouted me a return flight to Launceston for my birthday. So grateful for this awesome gift and so very pleased to have her with me to celebrate. We got diverted to Hobart which definitely wasn't part of our tight schedule. Once we got back to Launceston, we hit the ground running and continued that way for the whole weekend. We had noticed this sculpture and discussed it before we realised that that was our destination. Photo and answer forwarded. Thanks for bringing us here with this cache.
A 'Thelma & Louise' style weekend away with Geoturtle37, to celebrate her recent milestone birthday. We are flying in to Launceston on Friday afternoon, returning to Melbourne on Sunday evening. Our carefully planned itinerary includes selected LGAs, placement dates, DTs and high faves. If we manage to find them all, we can expect 186 smilies in total.
An interesting sculpture. Pic and answer sent to CO.

Thank goodness the street lights were working, else everything would be black including the green leafy bits!
As I had to come through Devonport on my way home tonight, and had to visit a couple of locations to finish off an Adventure Lab I’d started, it seemed only logical to also grab a couple of caches to go towards a challenge I’m working on.
Do I have a problem? I don’t have a problem, not at all

Our last day in our month long sojourn to Tassie. It’s been wonderful. We managed to pick up all the LGA’s except King Island which we are really happy about. The weather has been unexpectedly glorious until today.
GZ was different to the CO’s experience last weekend with a mammoth motor show of nearly 600 cars. Today was a few cars parked up watching the water and a freshly painted, red Vertex covered in rain drops (just like us).
rhubarbroad, I found Vertex. Virtual Reward 3.0 today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

I arrived into tassy on the Spirit. It was predawn and the only possible caches would be virtual. Of course at that time I had no idea the sculpture was missing. I poked around at gz and spotted the plaque. Bingo, read some logs and as the sun peeped over the eastern horizon I did what was required here.
Thanks rhubarbroad for the quick response too.

Find Number 2696 found at 15:41. Today we found 14 caches, 10 Adventure Lab stages and had 2 DNFs. This was the 7th find of the day
Day 16 of our tour round Tasmania. Today we drove from Launceston to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport, via Westbury, Deloraine and the Ashgrove cheese factory.
A shame that the statue has been removed for repair. However, I sent a picture and answers as requested to the CO.

Answers and photo sent to CO, disappointing that we didn't get to see the Vortex. Thanks for bring us here.
Let's just say, I like this as much as the artist's other work in Melbourne - the yellow peril. Despite the update this ones not yet been taken away for cleaning. Its now's got Ricks pawprint on it too. Answers sent.
We are staying in Devonport for a few days, and the rest of the New Zealand contingent is flying home today. One of us wasn't feeling well, so the other headed out to find a few caches before attending the nearby CITO.
After visiting the Spirit of the Sea statue I moved on to Vertex for this virtual. From the cache page I expected the artwork to be missing for its upgrade work, but it was still in place today. Took a photo or two, and got the information I required. Thanks for a fun virtual.

A group of 11 of us from New Zealand have come over to cache in Tasmania, stayed at Hadley Orient Hotel in Hobart for 3 nights. Now staying at Launceston. This is our 6th day here. G-2 is the nominated driver and Pagenz (our tour director) and me are in our rental. Some of our crew came here yesterday, but we'll all be together tonight at my event in Launceston.
While I concentrated on this and a nearby trad, Pagenz was sorting out a complex multi, I had the easier job! What on earth IS this thing? Even the plaque says nothing about it's inspiration, but anyway, here we are. Gorgeous weather here today in the Bass.

Day 5 of an 8 day caching holiday in Tasmania. Signing as GNJ or TD23 depending on whether its part or all of our NZ caching group.
Answers sent to CO. Just after my photo was taken, a ute arrived with 2 workers in hi vis who climbed all over the structure with tape measures and made notes. I guess the refurbishment is about to start. Thanks for bringingvus tobthis spot and telling us about Vertex, rhubarbroad.

In Tasmania for a week’s geocaching holiday with some other New Zealand cachers.
Today we travelled over from Launceston to Devonport and visited this location.
This was an interesting sculpture. As noted by Jude_E, some Council workers arrived while we were there, so it may not be there for too long.
Answers sent to CO. Thanks for the cache
A great place to visit and I do like the sculpture. I presume there is a bar at the river mouth as I could see the waves breaking where I would expect the bar to be. Quite a few people enjoying the area.
I am touring Tasmania with a group of Kiwi cachers. I’m looking forward to seeing the countryside, the towns and cities, finding lots of caches.
Logs signed GNTJ for GraciesGPSfun, NZ_B, TrinityNZ and Jude_E.

My way from Mersey Bluff back to the city also took me past this art object. Here I can once again quote my favorite postcard: "Is this art or can this be removed?" Unfortunately, I'm not very enthusiastic about the installation, but I'm also an art philistine.

Owl and Eagle were visiting Burnie on the Coral Princess. The 2y'stassies kindly picked them up and showed them the sights, with some random caches thrown in where possible. Great way to spend Owl's birthday! Some head-scratching was had at this 'art', which is not reflected in the photo.

Found with the geofamily whilst on holidays in Tassie. Almost time to get the boat home! Thanks for the fun and adventures!
We knew we were being bought out to an outstanding piece of artwork and we put on our rosed coloured glasses to take it in. The rose colour couldn’t block out the emotions and pain we found.
Some artist got paid for making a mouse trap and like all art I just don’t understand it. We are just not those kind of people that look at a painting and appreciate the artwork or try to feel the emotion the artist was feeling at the time. If they painted a wine bottle we might understand a little bit better. Answer sent. tftc

A long time between caches but had reason to visit Devonport today so grabbed the answer to the question and the required photo while we were here.
At the time the sculpture was bought I thought it was a waste of money even though I didn't mind the actual thing.
