WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 8 - Whyalla Day. I spent the day in the Whyalla area caching to the north and the west. There are plenty of caches around town and I did some including a Lab set along the fore shore. I enjoyed a great walk along the circular jetty. Most of my caching was along the Iron Knob Highway doing more of the trail caches along that part of the road. I did heaps back in 2017 and managed another chunk today. Hot out in the sun, but cool in the shade. I am now getting behind in my logging, so hopefully it will not get much worse. I managed to find a few caches that were DNFd back in 2017, so I am happy about that.I should have seen all the DNFs, but I did ot so I started searching, but with no luck I checked the logs and gave it away. Thanks.Albida
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Visiting Whyalla for a few days, lovely to be by the ocean but no luck here
We're doing a bit of a speedy tour around town , good to get to see the foreshore and bag a cache at the same time. Cache lying out on ground fully exposed, we've done our best to hide it as per the hint. Tftc
White staying at the caravan park we strolled along the foreshore to grab this cache, a nice quick find, thanks for placing it
Out for a walk along the beach this morning before we leave town later on. A quick find made here, in good condition for its age. Cheers.
Find #6001 on 28 Jun 2023.

Unfortunately half of the team needed to stay behind to look after sick friends in Western Australia and the other half needed to head home for a doctors appointment. I joined forces with Papi4506 and Geoturle37 at Maralinga and we have travelling home via the Anne Beadell Highway and Oodnadatta Track picking up whatever caches we came across.
This series turned into a bit of series. We started in reverse and the first was a DNF we headed up to the next one and that was a could not look, heading to this one there were some people sitting really close to GZ and it was shaping up as another could not look but thankfully they moved on with their dogs and once they were out of the area a nice quick find was had and the log book now contains our name. It was a lovely watching the dead calm ocean where we could see the reflection of a nearby pelican.
Thanks Spaceinvader8

After I parked up tonight I decided to go for a walk to stretch the legs, the cache was found fairly quick and it off to No2,
My thank to Spaceinvader9 for the cache and close to the Caravan.

A quick find with frmem1. The only one in the series that we had any luck with. TFTC

Staying overnight in the nearby Caravan park and had a few minutes spare to head out and find a cache before dinner and early turnin for an early start in the morning. Wandered up the beach past a myriad of fishers, all of whom were catching fish. Arrived at GZ and quickly spotted the hide and grabbed the cache. Was a bit worried by a camper parked only a metre or wo from GZ bit is proved to be empty. Phew. Signed the log and replaced as found.
Log full and Needs replacing. Did manage to find a small space to get the log in.

I started the day at the foreshore and wandered around for a fair bit of the morning. There were a few people wandering around the foreshore however there were sufficient gaps to grab the cache. TFTC.
Heute haben wir rund um Port Augusta und Whyalla einige Caches gefunden. Danke fürs herführen an die schönen Orte. Liebe Grüsse aus der Schweiz, CMJost
Better luck with this one, particularly as it was lying out on the open.

Took off to the North West a bit with Purrfect Di to avoid the rains back home.
Turned out this worked quite well as we only had a couple of showers for the whole weekend and saw some great scenery and found the odd cache or two!
Thankfully we found one out of three foreshore caches [:o)] A little further from the crowds perhaps!
Many thanks to Spaceinvader9 for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo-map

Travelling around - searching, spotting and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guyess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of that luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Beware! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and sharp rocks in your tyres
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Keep your distance - cache the countryside
Really fantastic of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks so much for reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again !
