Logs
Stayed near Stratford last night and drove along the Forgotten World Highway to Whangammona today, picking up six caches along the way. Sadly this wasnt one of them. Had a quick look where the hint indicated it should be, but nothing of value there. Presumably it has in fact disappeared. Time for the container to be replaced?
Absolutely freezing up there today, searched in the obvious place and surrounds but no luck, lots of vandalism of picnic tables, may have been taken
Found. Container has heaps of water. Too wet to write sign. But nice find. Thanks.
#2397 (Tontako Team) Kia Ora from Spain! We found this cache during our New Zealand / Aotearoa holidays.WoW!TFTC
Found with Bkj97 during an Easter trip. Log was wet and disintegrating so replaced it with a new piece of paper. Fine view from this location. TFTC
Fifth find of day two while playing support crew for some cyclists riding the forgotten highway. Nice to have some caches to fill in our time between check in spots. Another great day weather wise. Busy layby and a great view of the mountain. Log completely mushy so replaced and container dried. All good here now. Tftcsl
I have the week off work so have come up to Taranaki for a couple of days or so for caching, tackling the Forgotten Highway and hopefully finally knocking off the E174 challenge that I signed some years ago.One more saddle and this one with views of Taranaki AND Ruapehu/Ngarahoe.All good here and TFTC.Find #6562 at 20 March 2024 3:30 pm
This was the second cache for me today and it was another quick easy find.T F T C shellbellz.I had to make a return trip along this windy but quite scenic route twice over this weekend. On the first trip I was in a hurry both ways but knew I was likely passing some caches in an area I was unlikely to visit again anytime soon.On my second journey though I had a prior check for caches and found three that looked easy enough to find in my way without too much delay.
on the road bike for some lunch at the hotel before turning around and heading for home, thanks for the placement cache was all in good order.
Our road trip continued and we went from Stratford to the Tongariro National Park. But first we visited Mount Taranaki. Then we took the forgotten highway SH43 - really amazing views and finally reached the Tongariro National Park where we stayed in a hostel.Driving the forgotten world highway was really amazing! A lot of nice views through a great landscape. Only the part after the Maki tunnel where some roadwork is going on and we had a rough road to go was a bit ugly. [B)]We stopped here for a nice view and to have a look for this cache. It wa seasy to find. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24171]

Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.On the way from Stratford to Owhango via SH 43, we made a short stop here to sign the guest book. Unfortunately, it's very wet and there's almost no room left to sign....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app

Day 15: Through the Forgotten WorldTodays journey was a challenging one, leading us through the Forgotten World Highway through to Stratford and onwards to the Taranaki Region. We were sidetracked by the closure of the Tarangakau Gorge for most of the day, so we detoured through some back country roads in the rain. Truly an adventure, and not without a few caches despite the desolation of the landscape around here. Thanks for all the caches that made this adventure even more interesting. (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:This was took a bit of effort to get to because:a) we missed the turnoff as a truck was using it as a passing bay at the top of the saddleb) we had to go all the way down the saddle to u-turn back upc) there was a biker dude sitting in front of GZ the whole time we were there and that made the hunt hard. Despite all that, still managed to get my hand on the cache after some hunting. TFTC!
Streak day #112 brought us out here today as I had to find a trad for a challenge Im working on. Im sure the CO is horrified I havent found these yet but Im sure shell understand that I was saving it for times like this . Couldnt believe the sunshine out here! Its storming up large back at home. A quick find and off out for dinner at our friends. TFTC

Thanks for setting this up
Thanks for setting this up
Road workers have taken over the layby, so I was lucky to get parking. I don't like to use that "park n grab" comment that we see so often see, but it really was just that. Between the stop and go traffic controllers as well.
Few campervans pulled in while we were here so some stealthy looking was needed. Beautiful day and beautiful views of the mountains tftc
Beautiful view!
I've found this cache during my fourth day of the Queen memorial weekend in Taranaki.
Going home via SH43

A window of opportunity (WOO) to head out with Juty Bug to the Forgotten World Highway presented itself in the afternoon. With no found logs at that stage it seemed a good idea to do a scenic drive and build up our new Signals Labyrinth challenge points.
On arrival in a handy parking spot we were pleasantly surprised to see a blank log.
Many thanks shellbellz for the placement. {FTF}= with Juty Bug.
