A nice quick find after a nice walk. Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are off on another North Island tour, visiting family, art galleries and caches. Today we drove and cached around Palmerston North, and so far the weather has been pretty good!Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.

A lovely sunny warm autumn day so i decided to go for a bike ride and visit three caches on the way but sadly this was the only cache that i i actually did fine ! and i am sure it was the hardest out of the three. I had visit the 'entrance a couple of years ago but it was winter and the mud and water made me decide to leave it until the summer when it would be dry under foot especially has the C O had just checked it out ! . I really just followed my GPS religiously and got to ground zero and opened my eye and yea there it was . No pheasants any where to be seen today just an owl strangle out in the daylight hours ! A Nicely put together cache and i was frightened i would drop some part of it and lose it in the under growth ! many thanks for this cache . I took nothing and left nothing !

29-Feb-24
Over this side of town waiting for one of the Jr Cachers to finish and heard through the Facebook group that there was a souvenir on offer so decided to grab some caches. GPS settled reasonably quickly and soon spotted the cache. No pheasants today but the sandflies were definitely biting. TFTC.

27-Jan-24
It was hard to find cuz my GPS kept malfunctioning but I found it

21-Dec-23
This one was a tricky find as the GPS didn't want to zero in anywhere, plus plenty of forged paths through the growth meant I couldn't rely on geopaths for help. Took about 15 mins and I just happened to move some foliage and voila! Gates were closing soon so it was a welcome find. Tftc

Granddaughter Kaiah and I diverted off the side here for this one search for treasure. We son spotted the cache and my monicker was added to the log. Nice container here, thanks for the placement too.

It's Fathers Day today and we have a plan to meet up with our daughter and family in their current town of residence, Palmy. Only a quick walk in the park with them and the grandchildren, but time well spent. I'd picked Ahimate Park as a destination as there was a previously missing cache that had been replaced and a chance of another nearby. Just the one find here, and one 'on the way back home' so a modest haul.

Out on a bike ride catching up on local caches. I approached this one rather indirectly which gave me a longer muddy ride and through some standing water. But hey I have a MTB e-bike and it was fun. Got as close as I could, dropped the bike and walked to this one. A lovely surprise awaited. Thanks CandJ, this was my last find of the day and it was a great finish. A favourite added. Then out through more mud and standing water to bike home. Will clean my bike tomorrow!

I’ll try again next time

Thanks CharlotteAndJordy for placing and replacing your Pheasant Surprise cache!

It was great to finally track this one down while on a bike ride around the area today.

Relieved to report no scary pheasants were encountered and the mud has mostly dried so no gumboots required at GZ today.

Another geocaching adventure with woolwood9.
Really appreciate the cache owners effort putting this container out.

*Nice drive / walk around*
Good cache - the "track" is still wet-ish thick silt / mud.
ww9 found the soft mud!

Cache finally replaced! Coords updated. I recommend bring gum boots and a buddy to pull you out of the silt when you get stuck Smile

A bison tube has been added to the host so there is no need to remove the head anymore

Hint and description updated too Smile

Tried to replace today but the river water has been up and left behind thick silt!

Will try again soon when it’s not as bad

Hello Smile
I am back from holiday in 10 days and will get the 3D printer going as soon as I return to replace this cache (no later than end of Jan). Apologies in the delay!
Thanks

Muggled again!

Checked on this one today while on a dog walk and what do you know…in the last 2 weeks since I last checked on it it’s disappeared again :/

V.3 will have to be a bit harder

12-Sep-22
10min search and nothing, even with reading the previous logs.

09-Sep-22
Thanks CharlotteAndJordyfor your email reply, unfortunately I was still unable to find your cool cache.
The fine weather has dried out the area nicely so I was down on my hands and knees searching in all the obvious spots, didn't find any nests, caches or birds of any description.
if it's a needle in a haystack maybe it deserves a higher D-rating?
Still hopeful of a pleasant surprise next visit!

I am spending the weekend with the EtherClan And yesterday Ethergirl and I went for an early morning walk out this way to find a cache. Today we decided to do the same thing- I am working on a streak after all. And nobody else in the household is up yet.

The main track to the cache is a bit boggy after all the rain yesterday, but we managed to doge the worst of it, and I am glad to see the grass around GZ had not ben converted into swampland. I strode on in to to check the usual culprits. Nothing, of course. I then checked the size and realised this is a bison in a tree or similar. Back in for another check. Nothing. I then re-read the description. Hang on... and checked the cache owner. Ah! This is going to be something special!! And with the cache title I think I now have an idea as to where generally it might be hidden. And that also explains that it is unlikely to be a bison in a tree. But again - nup. By now Ethergirl is getting bored (she is just seven, so fair enough). We abandoned this cache and headed home.

I have not checked the area thoroughly enough to say the cache is not here. I suspect it still is in place, I just didn't find it. I'll be back.

Cache is in position still Smile

11-Aug-22
Had a look for 10mins or so, no luck or pheasant surprises for me today.
We return one day with more sets of eyes and maybe a wise owl to help...

26-Jul-22
Cache has been replaced but is now GL

Please rehide in the same manner so it is not visible from the track Smile

09-Jul-22
Unfortunately the cache has been muggled in the last few weeks since we completed maintenance to the owl. The moorings for the cache are still there and a thorough search didn’t locate any part of the cache.

The cache will be replaced in the near future

24-Jun-22
Just replaced the head, have printed it in a different orientation which should hopefully stop the head and thread disconnecting. Please be careful replacing the head not to over tighten Smile

19-Jun-22
When is a pheasant not a pheasant? When he has been gobbled up- pheasant stew. Although this one resembles more like an owl. With a detached head. I think someone didn't follow instructions . I had not explored these paths before, so had an enjoyable afternoon out in the sun. Tftc

Awesome cache, kids loved it

29-May-22
Another trip up to Palmy, and another chance to knock off a few newly published caches.

I don't get down to Panieri Park often, although I fondly remember it for my first ever night cache. Not quite the case this evening, although it was dusk by the time I got here.

As I approached GZ,I didn't disturb any pheasants, but I managed to get in the way of a photo shoot that was happening. I apologised and managed to get to GZ 40m away from them. It still took me a few minutes to spot the cache, but it did bring a smile to my face.

Thank for placing this cache, which gets a FP from me simply for the container.

Afternoon bike ride along this side of the river to get some caches before a surprise afternoon tea for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Good hide. A favorite point from me. Thanks CharlotteAndJordy for the cache.

21-May-22
Nice but not to sure if it’s that watertight

21-May-22
Well the sun had set by the time I got here. Its my main excuse. But as it was found on the same day its a pretty lame excuse. I spent a good 10-15 minutes searching all around the trees and under the thickets of vines for this one. Not sure if it was previously easily visible or needed a lot of digging into the vegetation to reveal it. Saw the geotrails so decided I was in the right area. Anyway after reading the past logs I had a fair idea of what I was looking for but nothing that shape was uncovered by me. Sadly a blue face to end the day before driving back to Wellington. Just ahead on the finds versus DNF counts today. The Palmerston North curse continues it seems. When will the find ratio ever improve?

14-May-22
Checked checked and head had sheared off. Replaced with a larger model I had already printed in same area.

Please be careful when screwing and unscrewing head Smile

13-May-22
I let out a 'owl of laughter when I saw this cache! What a hoot! After a rather pheasant walk this morning (the early bird gets to cache the worm) I caught a glimpse of this marvelous specimen.

My only complaint is that his head is already a bit worse for wear. I wish I had some glue on me, but he probably needs some.

No pheasants but the duck hunters are still out as there’s gunfire from across the river. Although it could’ve been some plucky soldiers playing game.
Checking the status of the cache at the carpark I see I’ll be 3TF behind geodatum and LMN1961.
It really is a beautiful pheasant morning for a walk.
No trouble finding the geocache, and Maggie the gundog geohound enjoys her run around in the scrub looking for pheasants... or wascally wabbits. All good here. Again, did you make it, or purchase it?
***Actually I don’t eat pheasant. It’s a little fowl.*** TFTC

A beautiful day to be out for a walk, many times walking here with friends and their canine friend who regularly flushes out a pheasant or two. Great location for the cache. No pheasants were harmed when finding the cache! Favourite given for innovative container.
