#14,636. A scenic walk in Wellington from Seatoun to Breaker Bay. Fortunately, the GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. The cache container lid was missing, but the contents remained nice and dry inside. Having had a busy non-caching day yesterday in the glorious sunshine, I was hoping for the weather to be about the same for today as I was teaming up with Itchyfeet2020 to go hunting for caches on the Miramar peninsula. As it turned out Wellington certainly served up the sun for us, but with a side dish of a strong northerly breeze to ensure I spent half my day either trying to hold onto my hat or else retrieving it from having been blown clean off my head!We parked on the street by the school, and then walked through the school grounds to get to GZ. I have to admit to taking a wrong turn and actually ending up on the beach below the cache, but we soon made our way back to where we needed to be. The cache itself didn't take long to find. I guess it's the salt air, but for a cache that's only been out for 18 months the container is not in the best of shapes. The lid is missing and there's a fair bit of rust. But surprising;y the log is still fine, so once we had both put our names into the log we could enjoy the stunning views before heading onto the next cache. Thanks for putting this cache out.

What views!. Out caching the peninsula with TwigNZ today and its a day to be on the hill tops close to the sea. Having parked up in front of the school we found a suitable path to head up to this one. Such stunning environment. Took a bit of a wander in the wrong direction first, before correcting ourselves and then quickly honing in on the cache. Thank you shaun and liza - a great spot. Could be tempted to just sit here for a bit longer actually...

It was hard to find at first because it was our first cache and we werent looking in the right place but it was fun when we did find it.

Great find it was my first and forgot a pen originally so came back with one

08-Oct-23
Continuing on my morning adventure around the peninsula, I parked as close to GZ as I could get and hoped to take a short-cut through the school. I spied a gate on the other side so that's where I headed. Up the short path to the main track and along to GZ. The cache was quickly found (once I dodged a bit of doggy doos - not the only doos encountered this morning). Signed and replaced. Nice views, albeit a bit cold and breezy. TFTC.

#13,588. My daughter was home today and needed some driving practise. I needed a few cache finds. So it worked out OK and we headed over to Miramar to look for a couple of caches. We practised some parallel parking out near the school then headed through the school which was empty due to school holidays. Up a familiar path to GZ. I came here once before for a look but was nearly blown off the hilltop by a nasty southerly so gave up the search quite quickly. Today it was nice and mild, and not a breath of wind. Seas were flat calm. Of course the GPS took me right to the correct spot, saw the rock and the container and had the cache in hand in seconds. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks shaun_and_liza for the cache.

A great cache for my daily streak challenge. Had no idea there were such amazing views to be had here - prime realestate. Loved the walk, will be back again!
Hint made for a quick find. Container needs replacing as rusty and missing its lid - double bagged log for good measure. TFTC Smile

MAINTENANCE NEEDED:
Cache container needs replacing - rusty and lid missing. Thx.

04-Jul-23
It’s school holidays with amazing weather, so an assortment of south coast caches is on the agenda for us today. We had a great time exploring all the bunkers and the views all around. Cache amazingly dry due to location and eclipse tin missing its lid.
Thanks shaun_and_liza!

Nice hide, lots of places to look but still a quick find

29-Jun-23
I took the wrong path and went down to the ocean after coming down from Seatoun. Not to fear as it was a beautiful day and there were ample opportunities to scramble back up the hillside back to GZ. Cache looked a bit exposed so tucked it in a bit more snugly. Took a moment to take in the beauty of the view before hurrying off. TFTC

I cam into town to solve some multi caches, putting them in reserve for later multi-cache dot-days. Solved five, confirmed their llocations and left them for another day. But as I was cycling around Hataitai and Miramar I passed a few others and stopped to get them along the way.

Headed up this way, with the bicycle in tow. Thankfully is is a nice lightweight fast thing. At GZ there was a couple enjoying a bit of quite time together, reading. They were just 4m from the cache and never notice me retrieving it. I moved away, signed the log but he caught me as I returned it. But he was too mellowed out and hardly said more than two syllables. or grunts. Or something. Making any kind of fuss was more than it was worth obviously. I totally understand. They had a dog with thm, a labrador. He spotted me both times, but he wasn't fazed either.

Nice walk on this wet windy day. A quick find, once we were under the right tree!

M26 and I are in Wellington, from Auckland, for a 30th and are getting as many caches as we can, over the 2 days we are here! It’s been wet and rainy, but still a good trip so far!

I have been caching in this area before but no t for a long time - certainly not since Covid became a word. It wasn't the greatest day to be out but it meant I was unlikely to have to contend with muggles. Accurate coordinates made for an instant find. All good here.

I took the boy on a walk up behind hood school today. Stunning weather made for a nice change. I pointed Mr C in the right direction and he made a quick find. He then needed my help to get the lid open and the log extracted. TFTC

Took advantage of a break in the weather to take a walk here. Quick find. Blustery up the top so didn't linger and just made it home before the rain set in again. TFTC

26-Jun-22
I almost made a hash of this by coming on the wrong track by not paying attention to exactly where I needed to go. Luckily there are connector tracks and I could get myself back into the right place. The coords seemed pretty good so while I was quite close while on the wrong track it felt like something was wrong. Some poorly averaged caches have that margin of error which is why I considered the possibility but once you're on the right track there's no mistaking you're in the right place. It's calm and late afternoon here and the view is stunning. The cache was a quick find and while it's in good condition now while it's new, these containers don't last long in the field and will become an unsatisfying rusty find without regular maintenance. Hopefully it gets that if it's to last beyond 12 months. Thanks for bringing me back to this location which I visited not too long ago while speculating where a multi final might be that wasn't "adding up."

Since I went to check on Point Dorset views cache I decided to give this one a visit as well. Everything is dry and the way it should be. Secured with a rock on top of it Smile

A long walk from home for my steps and a trad dot day. Seatoun is such a peaceful suburb. Found after a short elimination search. Great to have some new caches around, thanks shaun_and_liza!

11-Jun-22
A windy, sunny day, fine enough to venture out for a couple of geocaches.
This one popped up on whilst I was in the middle of a 2 week isolation as COVID finally caught up with our whole family.
Otherwise I would've gone for the FTF , but it was not to be.
I decided to park at the school, cut across the field and walk up to GZ. A beautiful view and not too many muggles about made for an enjoyable and quick find.

Had a few things to do in this region this morning so used it as an excuse for some exercise by walking across from the western suburbs. A very quick find - the hide is a bit obvious so I'm not sure how long it will last. Nice view from here on the way back down into Seatoun from the other cache higher up. Signed log, TFTC

I had been up in Wanganui for the first half of what has turned out to be a highly successful geocaching long weekend, with the knowledge that Monday was an extra weekend day. Gotta love a long weekend where the weather is good enough for geocaching but not so good it brings out the masses. Now I was back in Wellington, it was Monday, and it was time to go and collect some of the local caches that were on my todo list. This was one of them.

I had seen this cache appear last week while I was at work, and knowing that I wanted to come out this way for another cache I made a note to collect this one while out this way. So I did. Parking is always a little tricky up here, but found a spot and made my way to the ridgeline. Cache was quickly found, as described.

Thanks to the CO for the cache
