This cache:Haha, the hint for this one is brilliant, tftc!Today:I was on a mission today! Actually, I was supposed to be here yesterday but my flight got cancelled. And a Coldplay concert in Auckland meant there was no other option until 24h later. Anyway, I digress. Suffice to say I was very motivated to make this work My mission was to find and qualify for at least 6 challenge caches, in just a few hours of caching in the Shire! Why you ask? Because I need at least 10 challenge caches to qualify for a meta challenge cache in Nelson . I did not think I would be able to do so any time soon, cause I'm not great with challenge caches and there aren't many around in Nelson. Until I saw there is a whole challenge cache power trail in the area where I planned to go caching during my Sydney trip! How great is that?! So I did my homework and figured out which challenges I could qualify for in just a few hours of geocaching, plus find those challenge caches themselves of course. It was a bit of a puzzle with multiple train rides and a lot of running at tge end but I think I (just) succeeded! Still have to go through the checkers after writing these logs. I'm sure about 5 challenges and my manual counting ended up at 31 out of the required 30 different attributes for the 6th! Let's hope the checker agrees Big thanks to all COs for a pleasant Shire caching experience and a special thanks to wazza9 for the challenge power trail that got me inspired to go on a crazy hunt today!
Second cache for tonight. Along the way we found ants, huntsman spiders, frogs and some fish jumps. Looked in a certain spot that would be perfect for this container 3 times before we had CIH. TFTC, signed and replaced after writing the wrong date and correcting our mistake.
In Como this evening and had time to grab a few cache. Quick find between a steady flow of foot traffic, where are they going? Thanks for placing this cache merrybeachmick #2721
Search two, find two for today's outing. In amongst our chat about old friends, old fiends and old finds, misspalot suggested a likely hiding spot which raindoctor confirmed to be the actual hiding spot. Now for the big climb.
Oh my goodness the steps up to the observatory A lovely excuse to explore the area with runaroundtheworld, misspalot, and rassilon256
Heading home from a few days in Sydney, detoured to collect some AL waypoints which happened to be quite near a few traditionals that would help with this month’s Wheel Challenge at the same time. Satnav initially wanted me to approach from the higher elevation but carpark much closer and easier access for a quick find once the clue made sense.
Another nice location to visit. Enjoyed our day exploring Como, thanks to your caches. TFTC merrybeachmick
Out of the cache hunt today with ilook4geo and had a short list of specific caches to find for various statistical reasons. This was a nice easy find as the co-ords are good. This one was added to the list, well .... just because it was there in the area where we were. Thanks go to merrybeachmick for this cache placement.
Shared the hunt today with goingplaces2 and had a successful run. This was one of the caches not on the target list but we had no trouble finding it. Log was signed with both names and all was replaced as found. TFTC.
Como never ceases to astound me with its spectacular views; I’m so grateful to live nearby enough to enjoy these spots without too long of a drive! Thanks for bringing me here; it’s such a tranquil and enjoyable spot!
Had to take a second pass at the hint to get what it was getting at but when I did the cache was soon in hand! TFTC!
Signed and returned as found ??

A disappointing DNF earlier this morning has been cancelled out by getting this find. TFTC and now for a quick coffee nearby.
(6 of 6 today)
Tonight is dinner with friends in the Shire (a BBQ as it turned out) but before getting there I targeted a few caches.
Found six, all within a stones' throw of their place - so to speak. It's good to see a number of new caches popping up here. Much appreciated.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Missed the car park first time and had to circle back.
Parked and headed for GZ - with a muggle nearby. He left and I made a quick find p- not the first like it today.
Two more muggles walked past as I completed signing duties, but they walked on and I made the replace.
The red wine is calling, time to go.

Me and my brother searched for a bit but eventually found it. It was our first geocache.
Green Point Steps - what more steps!
This certainly is a hilly little area. I thought I lived in a hilly suburb but it's flat compared to this one.
Missed the turn into the carpark and had to go on and come back. There was plenty of parking and lots of muggles with dogs. Looks like a great spot for dogs to meet and play.
With the suggestion that it was a good spot for birds I'd brought my binoculars but only spotted a Great Cormorant. The cicadas were so noisy I couldn't tell if there were any birds calling, but cicadas at last, good to hear.
Old steps, new steps?
Fortunately I didn't need to climb too many of them to find the cache.
Another sneaky hide in a nice spot.

Geoboyfriend used to come to these stairs to train for the Stadium Stomp, you would have thought he wouldn’t have got lost on the way here today (his words not mine). Nice part of the world and great to get a new smiley.
Found eventually after finally climbing. No black tops were injured, nor considered. A more of a steely poke was needed on this drizzly morning.
Out and about on a holiday mini mission with goldfinger777
Quick find of the cleverly hidden container by goldfinger777.
Thanks for the hide, merrybeachmick.

Out for a few caches in the Shire with frazeydaze. After finding a cache nearby up the creek we also found this little fella in a familiar place for this CO. I do like these cache containers.

Another Friday out caching with oldmorty.
This was on our list for today. We’d been down the creek looking for The Optimist (GC7A5GP) and thought we’d follow up with an easier one after lunch.
Thanks to merrybeachmick for placing this cache.

We were visiting family in Oyster Bay and called in here on our way home. The container was hidden simply but well, which is always the best way and we logged without any other walkers in sight. Thanks for a good hide.
This was an interesting a nice little spot- looked like this was the only access for some people but perhaps they come from the top? Anyway, pretty straightforward find. TFTC!
Found this cache today
Pretty easy, once a little help from the hint new exactly where it could be !
Nice one hidden from muggles

TFTC,
I always complete a traditional cache on a day when I attend an Event.
After a DNF, this was my second attempt where a success was made.
Visited trackables.

Early finish with work today, so drove up north to pick up bits and pieces and do some adventure labs.

I came back today with some intel from a paf, I was so close to the cache the first time, d’oh! Thanks.
Found with Brewmaker in the pouring rain. We waited at home for it to ease, and then as we pulled up it came down again! I got very wet and so did the log. Sorry about that mbm. I like this doggy park when we come here in drier conditions. TFTC
You snooze, you lose. Beaten to FTF by A44duo by about 30 minutes. I waited for the rain to ease but it wouldn't. A tiny break, so geodog Zelda and I headed to GZ. Of course the heavens opened as we pulled up and we got soaked on the way to GZ. There was a temporary waterfall near GZ!
I found it easily but in trying to sign it in the rain I wrecked the log, even returning to the car to work on it. And then I couldn't put the tiny pencil back inside. I left the pencil under a bit of wood at the end of the railing. Somehow I got the tatty log sheet in, but it might need an inspection. Sorry about that!
Now the rain has returned so we're heading home to get dry. TFTC
