From reading some logs, I had it in my mind that the coordinates could be a litttle out, so I started my search early. I had also misread the size of the cache, so I was getting rather intricate in my search of many a similar item. Upon re-checking and discovering I was not looking for a micro, it was not long until I spied something I now remember from another of this COs caches. Picked up the trackable. Thanks theSeagnoid#1219

Seen a few of these types of caches around the place (luckily) so no need to peer into every little nook and cranny thank the geogods. A lot of bikers today which is awesome to see. Had to be relatively stealthy. All is well. TFTC!

In the area for another of the Is For series. Signature hide here, have found a 'few' of these now, cheers Tom.Down visiting our youngest daughter who has just bought her first home with her partner. We have some of her stuff in our garage so nice to help her regain her stuff whilst enjoying the new scenery. After some time I wanted to head to Petone to complete some unfinished business so dropped the girls at the Mall and a couple of hours on some trails. Thanks to the COs for their hides.

Heading out to the COs event tonight at the beach for our monthly Wellywood Wednesday. Justlooking00 and I were making a start on the nearby Letterbox, which this was nice and close to so popped by for the classic find, I do like these, they are very clever. Thanks the Seagnoid.

Flew into Wellington on my way to Masterton for work. Had time to pick up a few caches. After getting rather lost trying to find a different cache I noticed I my walk back to the car would pass this cache. Familiar hide which was great Hoped to find a pen as I left mine on the plane but none, so had to improvise with a primitive X. Thanks Seagnoid for the history and another smiley.

Needed to come to Petone to pick up a Christmas present and why not find a few geocaches for the solstice souvenir at the same time? Another quality lost station cache hide, TFTC

Took a moment, read some logs, then spotted something familiar. Also picked up a TB. TFTC

Knew that I had found it as I approached and spotted something familiar. TFTC

19-Sep-23
Tftc the coordinates were off by about 5 meters. In the style of the others in this series I knew what I was looking for and soon had it in hand

03-Sep-23
Once you spot the cache it's easy ...,. But the co ords were out for us so searching in the wrong spot for a fair bit. Clever camo.
Thank you the Seagnoid for placing this cache.

:’( had a good look but couldn’t find. Frustrated to hear it hides in plain sight, must be such a satisfying location

14-Jun-23
Swung by here today during my lunch break to tick off another day towards the current challenge. Brought GeoHubby along, who had previously found it, but as he has a memory of a goldfish he wasn’t any help.
I knew what I was looking for but it still took me a few minutes to find it.
Thanks for another Hutt Railway cache.

Quite like these disguised ones as well as being open but still private. Favourite from me. Tftc

31-May-23
Unable to search for nearby targetted cache due to muggles. Found this one instead in walking distance to contunue my daily streak. Really enjoyed this 'familiar'. Had to laugh at the number of trains passing in full view of gz - it was end-of-day commuter time. TFTC Smile

Nice hide. TFTC

16 May 2023 19:55. Today started stupidly early, as the alarm went off at 3.15am so I could drop my other half off at the airport to check in for the first stage of his long flight over to the UK, and despite getting back to sleep before starting work, so by this point I was fading fast! Finding that I needed to combine Geocaching with the weekly shop, I looked for what was in the vicinity, and remembered this one. Managed a reasonably close park and walked back to GZ. My phone tried to convince me that I should be climbing the fence, but knowing the CO's likely hiding method, I sensibly ignored it, and was rewarded with a quick find. Now to brave P&S in search of milk, bread and other stuff to eat for the rest of the week....

TFTC the Seagnoid for placing this cache, number 12636 for me.

I think I overcomplicated it a bit, struggled with the lack of a hint

Finally found it! Once I'd found others in the series it was no sweat. Yuuuus. Tftc.

Once again, the cache description made for worthwhile reading. I also like studying old photographs - it's interesting to see how things have changed.

Having already found one cache this evening, I wasn't too bothered if I didn't manage another and I had doubts about this one being achievable with rush hour traffic about. However, I soon realised the cache site was a very good one and I had to wonder why a cache hadn't been placed here previously. I had to widen my search area a little before I found what I was expecting to see. Everything is in first class condition. I don't normally place trackables in urban locations but I thought this was a good place to leave the Compass Rose Geocoin Micro that I picked up in Otorohanga.

19-Mar-23
Not having much luck with this set of spots so far might need more practice but also might need a hint to save from crossing the roads and running up and down the bush along the tracks

I am enjoying this journey through these lost stations. Tftc

05-Mar-23
Talla64 and I are slowly working our way through this series. We were fortunate today, it being Sunday, there were plenty of parking spots and we parked quite close by. Another excellent hide. Thanks for the history the Seagnoid, and for all the effort you have put into these hides.

05-Mar-23
Found while out and about with Flowerydaze. It has been some time since we had found others in this series and I was a bit rusty on what we were looking for but Flowerydaze reminded me on what to look for and there it was, hidden in plain site. All good here nice and dry TFTC the signoid, and thanks for the hard work in putting this series in FP well deserved.

The GPS was a little out but a nice easy find when you know what to look for. I do like these clever caches! TFTC.

A nice quick find. The lid was very tight but I got it open in the end. Hopefully I left it slightly less tight for the next cacher. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I are off for a wee break "up north" and today we took a ferry from Days Bay to Matui/Somes Island for a bit of a wander. It was a lovely day and had a great time. When we got back to the mainland we cruied around some unfound caches in Lower Hutt/Petone. It was a cloudy but warm day.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

#12,489. I had driven over to Petone to do some shopping and noticed there was a cache very close to the roundabout and train tracks. I was not even aware there was a footpath along here. I managed to find a park very close by which also surprised me. I was expecting to be in full view of muggles in cars but the CO has placed the cache very carefully so you are out of view of cars and have good visibility of the foot[path. Plus another great camo cache container and it all adds up to a favourite in my opinion. Signed the log and replaced everything as found. I like it that once you have found one in the series it makes it easier to find another one. Look for something out of place. Thanks the Seagnoid for hiding this cache here.

Awesome set up of cache. Bit of work gone into this one. Well done. Had me going for a bit as I couldn’t find the hint on my app

It was such a nice evening I decided to head out to nab a few caches. Managed to nab 9 of this series in about 2.5 hours.
Interesting to note the quite a few of these are filling spots where previous caches have been archived.

I initally forgot about the signature hide on this one and we barking up the wrong tree till I rethought it and looked for the usual. Quickly found once I started looking for the right thing.

Really liking this series, not only is it getting me off the couch and clocking up my walk 1200 numbers it's teaching me so much ransom history.
We'd make a great caching g team with the weird thi gs we learn while waiting for the muggles to pass

Have seen this frankgreen drink bottle holder elsewhere in the series.

Saw another of these at another Lost Station. Really well done container and cache. Fantastic condition. Took the difficult route there, but found a much safer route back that I didn't know existed.. Thanks for the cache.. FP from me.

16-Dec-22
Interesting spot - I've never been here before (nor even known how to reach it!) A lot of traffic on the roundabout through the bushes (Christmas shopping maybe?) but they weren't aware of me. A previous log indicated this was the same style of hide as most of the others in the series (but not the one I found about half an hour ago!) which made searching simple. Another great history lesson - it's always interesting how the landscape changes over time. TFTC.

11-Dec-22
Even though my phone is GPS sent me to one spot, I knew that was wrong, and looked elsewhere. It didn’t take long until the cache container was spotted, the log retrieved, signed, and returned.

Out and about tonight finding caches for one of the requirements for the GC2J6AY MGSc Challenge (Masters of Geocaching Science) in Nelson.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache the Seagnoid.

#13,251. Park, walk and grab off Hutt Road in Petone, Lower Hutt. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside.

Took Weihnachten 2019 der Weihnachtsbaum
Left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the interesting history and placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

A nice find on a lunch time walk. Recognized this from a cache I found recently in Picton. Dropped a TB that had been lost in the bottom of a bag for far too long.... Oops

Over the weekend I discovered that I needed a new battery for my laptop, so headed straight down to Petone after work to check out PB Tech as I thought they had one I could buy. I was mistaken, which is a bit of a bugger, but at least it put me close to this cache.

A quick and easy find having done a few of these now. Seeing the yellow lid always makes me smile, but I was a little surprised to find some genuine money inside. I left it in the jar as I'm sure someone else's need will be greater than mine but don't rush to get it as it's only a couple of dollars.

No issues with the log etc which was swiftly signed and replaced as found. Thanks for setting this one up.

I have a bit of time in between dropping my wife off at the (not) Korokoro Station (I'd like to think that we believe that it is Korokoro Station and that everyone else on the flat are just taking advantage of our generosity Big Grin).

In any case I didn't mind slowly moving along to the roundabout until I saw a handy park on the left, so hopped out and took a short stroll along the path. It wasn't long before I spotted the usual and pretty quickly had the log signed and the cache restored. All good here, and TFTC.

Now that I've come back to the page, it's interesting to note that the stone wall on the other side of the stream in the photograph still exists outside Ulrich Aluminium, and that the gap in the wall marks where a siding used to go through.

(# 7391) Out to get a handful of caches this afternoon once the sun made an entrance. Have got a number of the series and was literally passing by so had to stop for this one. No problem locating the hide and with no muggles about quickly signed the log. Thanks for bringing me here.

11-Nov-22
TFTC, nice quick find and not many muggles about just had to wait for the train to pass

11-Nov-22
TFTC, nice easy find.
Interesting read, my father was posted to Petone station as a cadet and remembers helping with the shunting of the yard.

A quick find of a container similar to one we found earlier today ..... hiding in plain view!

16-Oct-22
Another of this interesting series with an excellent and informative cache page write-up. Called here this morning - nothing at the indicated GZ so widened the search and spotted the trademark hide about 11 metres south. Signed log, TFTC

In my life things are rarely what they seem! Am loving this series delving into a part of the history of Petone and the valley that I didn’t know. Thanks for all the time and research that have gone into this series. TFTC

03-Oct-22
I was puzzling over this one as the coordinates appeared to be in a place where a small cache was unlikely to be viable, especially one of the type likely to be in use for this series. After searching in vain for a while I widened my search and found the cache about 11 metres from the published coordinates.

Just got it done in time and headed back to appropriately catch the train before the weather deteriorated. I had walked the length of the esplanade doing some other caching and it had been a nice walk with no wind or rain.

Thanks for yet more of this well researched and interesting information.

Just a minor point, neither this nor State Highway 2 are motorway in this area, the designated Motorway on this side only goes between Wellington and Ngauranga.

TFTC.

After a bit of scratching my head, I found it!

The photo on the cache page is is very interesting - as is the write up about this area. While there are a reasonable number of caches with interesting historical write-ups about their location this series is, in my opinion, more interesting than most of them. I tried coming here a few days ago after work but it started raining just when I parked up. I waited for a bit and looked at the rain radar but it starting raining even harder so I flagged it for the day and drove home in appalling conditions.

Today is better but still annoyingly drizzly. I parked down by the beach and walked along a track I hadn't been on before. I walked past the cache twice before spotting it on the 3rd pass. These things are great for putting caches pretty much anywhere you like without resorting to micros. Nice job as usual. TFTC.

01-Oct-22
Took the opportunity to do a bit of a circuit round the waterfront, hadn't ventured around this way before and enjoyed the walk around and under the roads round to the beach. A quick find having found a number in the series already. Thanks for the cache

29-Sep-22
I was out this way today, I decided that as the weather was better than forecast I'd look for the two latest "lost stations". No problems finding the familiar hide. TFTC

28-Sep-22
I was at the beach discussing lizard habitat enhancement before they build Te Ara Tupua which will join the cycle trail here. So it was a short walk along to check this out. I first felt I needed another hint, but then remembered to look for another lost station style of cache. So soon in hand and surprised to be 2TF and there is already a trackable so took that too.
Thank you CO and I'll look for another in Petone sometime though the likely sites are probably already taken.

[FTF] @ 21:13

What started out as a plan for a quiet night with some late night grocery shopping soon changed considerably when, as I was reviewing my shopping list, the notification of a new cache nearby appeared in front of my very eyes. As I was all ready to head out the door anyway, I wasted no time in exiting the house and making my way to the cache location.

I parked at a convenient spot, and made my way to what I thought was the cache location and started looking for what (based on other hides in this multi-city, and multi-island series) I thought the hide would look like. As I was scanning my torch back and forth I heard a voice call out my name - not unexpected, as is the way with newly published caches in Wellington. However, surprisingly, it was not another FTF chaser but was in fact the CO of this cache. A quick chat revealed two facts. First was that the CO had literally only just submitted the cache for review within the last half hour - amazing how fast it had got approved and published. The second was (as per the subsequent CO note) that there appeared to be a minor issue with the coordinates of the cache actually being those submitted as the parking location. That was lucky the CO was still I the area. I made my way to the corrected location, and sure enough there was the familiar hide type that goes along with this series.

Another interesting fact learned, at the area I initially looked for the cache (where it wasn't) there were what appears to be the remnants of a building of some sort which I assumed were part of the Koro Koro Station for which the cache is named. Apparently, they are not.

Thanks to the CO for another fun caching adventure.

Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 13.469 E 174° 51.696

Coordinates changed to:
S 41° 13.454 E 174° 51.765

Distance from original: 328.7 feet or 100.2 meters.

Oops sorry guys. I updated my trial coords with the accurate coords, but put them in the parking coords, rather than the cache coords. My apologies.
Fixed. At least I know this space is clear of nearby caches!
