Had a good look through all the nests here and couldnt find a cache. Maybe next time.
A novice cacher took the cache. They thought that was what you did! Will try and get there this week to replace.
Out taking advantage of the free entry thank you so much for placing this here .
Found yesterday with beansproutnz while exploring the treaty grounds. Great place to visit. Kids had fun, and such a beautiful day to visit. We finished up with fish and chips on the beach in Paihia. Tftc
TFTC. It was an awesome day to go up to the Waitangi treaty grounds since this week it was free for NZ residents. On the way to our final stop. Thank you
Made good use of the free entry period whilst in the area, to quickly nab this cache in between the showers. ??A nice quick find at GZ TFTC
There was a free open day at the treaty grounds today, so I took the opportunity to grab this cache and the other located on site. I also had a good look around the new museum. I managed to arrive just as the doors were opening and managed to have the two spots all to myself, and the first part of the museum as well. When I finally left just after 10, the carpark was full and the overflow was filling fast. The people were pouring in the gates by then so I was very glad to leave them to it. TFTC.
A nice easy find in the obvious spot. Was almost tempted to bush bash down, when I got to 10 metres from GZ, but decided to be a bit more respectful given the location, which made for a much longer walk. TFTC
Lovely views from here. A nice quick find on our way back to grab our picnic lunch.
On a holiday up in the Bay of Islands of the winterless north. What a busy time it was with all the historical sites to explore and their significance to discover. It is no wonder that by the end of the day, we were getting back to our accommodation and just blobbing after a good dinner. Of course, you cannot go anywhere other than your home town and not do some caching while you are there.Whilst enjoying our time going around and exploring the Treaty Grounds, we just had to make the most of it and collect the caches that had been planted here. This meant having to make a small detour to pick this one up. Mr. Kiwi headed off to grab the cache while the others hung around and looked at the waka. As he drew nearer to GZ, Mr. Kiwi spotted something that looked a little more than just suspicious, so, he went over to investigate. Well, as it turned out, it was indeed the hiding place for the cache. The signing of the log was all right, but as he was replacing the cache, he felt a few drops of rain. Darn, no raincoat or umbrella. As he headed back towards the others, the rain started to get heavier, which was not welcome as he was crossing open ground. In the end, he took shelter under a Pohutukawa tree rather than try to run across the last large open grass area and get rather wet. It seemed like an eternity, but was probably only about 5 minutes before the rain subsided enough for him to complete the journey back to the others. Luckily, the rain stopped pretty much as soon as he left the safety of the tree.TFTC
We weren't caching in 2010 when we last visited so we're happy to have another chance. TFTC!
This is a very late checkin to this. We visited here a few weeks ago. Signed with MelontheGo on our trip to the treaty site.
We really enjoyed visiting here. Learned so much at the museum and on the tour. Easy find. SL and RAF TFTC
I took the opportunity of coming to Waitangi Day for free...which is full on today with thousands of people everywhere. The cache was missing so I have replaced it and I'm thankfully for the shade here.
Had grand plans for this of our holiday. Visit Waitangi then the ferry to Russell. Ans lunch somewhere in between. By the time we got here it was already 12:00 and by the time we did the tour (we got a personalised one as the five of us were it) it was too late to do the ferry. I made certain I grabbed this cache while here - was a quick find (not certain there was a TB inside).we really enjoyed the walk around the grounds - as an Australian interesting to see the difference in treatment for first nations peoples.TFTC Fullofun
Stopped by after a LGNZ Young Elected Member Hui. Picked up a bit of rubbish on the way out too.
Of royal princess, for a day in the bay. Found after doing the tours and shows, picked up and dropped a few coins to travel some.TFTC
Auf unserer Reise in den Norden hier gehalten und den Cache gesucht und gefunden. Danke frs Verstecken.
After a tour of the treaty grounds and soaking in the culture, we had to knock this one off - an easy find and a chance to take some more photos. Well worth the visit. TFTC
#2583. This is day 4 of a 9 day trip from Wellington, via Inglewood to Paihia with GB Leader and Dianna58 (my German wwoofer). Today we are headed to the Treaty Grounds, paid the $30 each to enter the Treaty complex, an amazingly comprehensive display of our nation's sometimes tumultuous start. My first visit here since 2004.After a very wet day yesterday, it was nice to get out and about today.Walked out to the grounds with GB Leader to see the waka, and walked to this cache which was an easy find.Tftc Fullofun.
I'm visiting New Zealand for a tour around the country . First I spent 2 weeks in Auckland. Now I'm touring the North Island. While enjoying the sightseeing I also visit some caches. This is one of them. Thank you for showing me the place and thank you for the cache . Greetings from Switzerland .
Great quick find on our afternoon at the Treaty Grounds. Loved everything about the experience. Here from USA for the FIFA Women's World Cup, love that I can also enjoy geocaching as I travel!

Our second find in NZ, on our first full day here. Found after a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty site. Had to make a quick trot back to make the find as the guided tour ended at the gift shop (where else?) where we did our bit to contribute to the NZ economy.
Great place for a hide and a nice easy find today.

TFTC! Easy find since I know my NZ trees. While CaliKiwi was off at a museum, I went and found this easy cache. Afterward, while waiting for the text from her, I sat on the beach and read my book (Better the Blood, Michael Bennett), which felt pretty appropriate.
I've been wanting this cache for ages. Having grown up with free access to these grounds and knowing the land was given by the Bledisloe family for New Zealanders to enjoy I object to the admission fee. If Te Papa is free then why isn't this important site free too?
There was once a "Friend of Waitangi" scheme which I belonged to but they've changed that system now as well. I'd never use it so I couldn't justify the annual fee.
With today being Waitangi Day there was free access I took my chance and jostled the crowds to get over the bridge. With an overcast day the area near gz was empty which made it very easy. A quick sign of the log and I was off to the next one, TFTC

Spotted quickly out in the open at GZ. Log signed and cache replaced slightly more hidden than originally. Thanks!
Nice day exploring the treaty grounds with cousins from overseas! A nice quick find. TFTC!
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 15 - Of our New Zealand trip and we are here in the beautiful Bay of Isles. Weather not so crash hot though. Had a lovely stroll in Paihia this morning collecting one traditional cache and an Adventure Lab in between brunch and shopping and before heading to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Wow we spent an five amazing hours there soaking up all the history and the significance of the place. Saw an excellent cultural show and in between all that managed to pick up two more traditional caches on the edge of the grounds.

Visiting from the states and staying in Paihia. Great area to visit and perfect weather. Thanks for the cache.
We enjoyed the walk around Waitangi today.
We got a tour and a cultural performance - 2 things I have not had in my previous two visits.
Also there is a new museum for me to look at as well.
Quick find here. TFTC Fullofun.
Day 7 of our two-week road trip through Northland, and today it was Waitangi and Kerikeri.
We had a great morning at Waitangi.
We arrived just in time for the guided tour, which was very fortunate.
Our guide was informed and entertaining, and posed many points to ponder in this special place.
This morphed nicely into a cultural show that was also polished and funny, the first time I have experienced anything like this in my homeland.
This is my third time to these grounds, but the first time I have experienced anything like this. Another addition for me was the great Te Rau Aroha museum that opened just 2 years ago.
For RG72, it was her first time here and she enjoyed all of it.
Later in the afternoon we popped out to Kerikeri to take in the awesome space around the Stone Store, the Reserve Basin.
There are some great old buildings out here, a pa, a church and some nice walks as well as waterfalls. Some retail therapy after that, and we have had a good day.
Thanks all COs.

Lots of waka ama races here today, so plenty to look at in and out of the grounds. Cache located before a well deserved stop at the cafe. Tftc
Visiting the museum doing maintenance so went for a lunch time stroll.Nice and easy find, good to see a lot of tourists coming back.

FTF. 12/09/22. Hardest part was having come up with $30 to enter grounds, which I have visited many time as a Northlander. Waitangi Day was a must go,back when all was calm and reverent here.
