I love this beach. Its my little paradise spot that I come to for some time out. Winter or summer it is peaceful and beautiful. So I was determined to find this cache! Took me longer than it should - requires more fossicking than I thought but once I found it the clues made sense. Have a dig amongst the base of the flaxes and you will find it. No pen so just photo. Big enough for some hideables which Ill bring next time.

2nd find for the morning. Such a beautiful spot to visit. We picnic here through summer because it is always super quiet. A real gem.

I'm back up in my home town of Whangarei for the weekend, visiting family. After spending some time caching around Whangarei Falls, I then headed out to Tutukaka for some more caching. Been out on the lighthouse walk a few times, but never noticed this track down to the beach before! Made a quick find of the cache at this peaceful spot. TFTC!

We've been to this beach a few times in warmer weather, and usually met other people here. Even in winter, it wasn't empty. A diver coming in with a full catch bag, a yacht moored just off the beach with paint relaxing on the deck...
Was a quick easy find though. Tftc

We found it eventually behind a flax that is not the last and lonely one. Higher terrain rating maybe? Tftc

Found it easily, like the description says, lived here forever but overlooked this little beach. Nice little exploration. Thanks

The beach here has suffered from Cyclone Gabrielle and a metre of shoreline has been eroded and with it the original hide location.

Replaced today with a more substantial item in the closest available spot and is now attached as well. Original hint still applies.

Decided to explore the area while camping here for 10 days.
Finding caches is the best way to explore somewhere new

I'm Whangarei local and I don't remember walking down to this secluded bay before, so this is a first. I have seen it from the water, my Dad used to call in here on the way back from fishing around the coast. A much better option, for taking the children for a swim here, than the Lighthouse track, where you'd be all hot and bothered again when you got to the top of those stairs after a cool swim.

First day of my Christmas/New Year holiday so as something to do on a fine afternoon we decided to go for a short hike out to the Tutukaka lighthouse as this is something that has been on my "to do" list for awhile. The fact that a local cacher had recently placed several new caches on the track was also a prompting factor.

So the two halves of SmithsNZ along with Debz6, my son and his couple of friends set out from the car park at the end of the private road. Due to it being low tide we walked directly to the lighthouse with the aim to start our cache hunting there and on the return journey.

After taking many photos and enjoying the 360 degree view at the lighthouse we headed on our return journey with the aim of locating the caches along the track. Getting near the car park it was going to be a decision as to whether we looked for the car park cache or the secluded beach cache first - the muggles sitting in their car at the car park made the decision for us.

The track down to this beautiful little bay was an easy walk, and well-worth the side trip. Walking along the beach to the cache hide there seemed to be many flax bushes however it was only a short search before the cache was in hand. We will visit this little beach again for a picnic sometime in the future.

Having been in this car park a few times I'd noted some trail runners using this path, never knowing where it led, now I do! A pleasant walk down and a lovely wee treasure of a beach, as described. Took me a few passes before I found the cache as per the description.

A few more pre-xmas days up in Northland visiting my son and his family were a few days well spent. We stayed in the works bach at Ngunguru yet again and had a nice time, as usual. There was a very small amount of time for caching, nothing like previous visits, and enough time for a few finds. Glad to see some new ones near the bach from 0B80B8 and managed a pre-breakfast rain one day. Thanks to all COs as always.
