Possibly washed away or taken... Got stuck.

With the combination of GPS not settling, amount of trash around, and possible debris slips from recent strong weather, made it too much of a task for me today. Will monitor and return when there's more finds, cheers.

I was in Wellington visiting family for a birthday event and thought i would drive up Makara road to visit this newer cache. I do remember there being a cache on this walkway a few years ago but it was closer to the road rather than down the walkway . I used the hint to go up the bank to start to look for the cache but there were quite a few possibilities for the ' nestled at base of tree' so after searching quite few i did locate it up the bank at a small cluster of trees. I soon then had it signed and replaced and i could walk back up the track to where i had parked the car . I took nothing and left nothing . All was well with the cache . Thank you for this newer cache in this area .

Thanks!

Thought we were about to be muggled cache in hand as we heard approaching voices. We huddled behind a tree until we realised the muggles were in fact on the road above so all was good. TFTC

Was looking for a cache close-ish to home for my daily streak - was pleasantly surprised by this short walk along a track I've been to in the past. With luck geosense headed me straight to the cache tree, passing evidence of a broken tree a previous cacher tried using to stop his fast descent, lol. Log all dry with lots of interesting goodies to fossick thru in the container. TFTC Smile

My tracker was bonkers and ran in many different directions around the bush. Until decided to ignore the map and just headed for the most likely hidding place. Thanks for the cache. I found a watch! And a very cute shell bracelet. Left some trinkets of my own.

Almost considered finding this from the road but decided against it when seeing the track marker - I hadn't read the description! Quick find, TFTC

Nice quick find today on an interesting path we never knew existed. Our co-ords were spot on. Everything good with the cache. What I didn't expect was Mr PJNinjas nearly taking me out with a tree. He slipped coming down and the tree he tried to stop his fall with... just snapped and came straight for me. I nearly got "logged." Missed me by that much! Good work 86! TFTC Geocacher_X

TFTC - did it in the dark, a little bit of a scramble but it was good fun and easy to find

Thought it might be difficult in the dark but actually a pretty easy find. TFTC

22 May 2023 12:53 WFH today, so decided that I had (just) enough time to head over for this one. Parked up, and then found the track entry, and headed on in. Phone GPS wanders considerably here, but was about 8m out for me when at GZ. Then the tricky part began, working out where would be a sensible space to turn around and head back in time for the next session. There was a driveway a couple of hundred metres further along, which helped a lot - I was not wanting to do a U turn on a blind corner!

TFTC Geocacher_X for placing this cache, number 12644 for me.

#12,842. I came over here during a break in the rain. I had done a cache on this track years ago. The bush was wet so checked the hint to make sure I looked in the right areas. Scrambled off the path and found the container in the second place checked. Signed the logbook and replaced as found. Thanks Geocacher_X for the cache.

I was running some errands around town earlier this morning which finished earlier than expected. I didn't have any other plans for the rest of the day so I decided I would head out to the Karori/Makara area and attempt to find a few geocaches hidden around. This was the first geocache I found today.

I parked near the entrance to the track on Makara Road and began the short walk down the trail to the cache. There had been rain earlier in the morning and it was currently drizzling which made some parts of the trail very muddy. Fortunately, the mud wasn't too severe and I was able to easily avoid treading through it. I soon reached the cover of the trees which protected me from the drizzle and began searching for the cache.

My GPS was pointing me in a general direction and, after taking a quick peak at the hint, I soon saw a very possible hiding spot for the cache. I climbed my way up the slippery hillside towards this location and was pleasantly surprised to see the cache sitting exactly where I expected it. I quickly unscrewed the container and signed the logbook before replacing back where I found it. The cache and its contents are in excellent condition. I then made my way back up the track to my car before continuing on my journey down towards Makara.

My bf was getting impatient because of the rain and I was about to give up ahah! But then I was lucky! Found it on my way down, after a 20min search and a (little) bit of climbing. Thank you for the cache! Smile

Good cache , thanks

My previous find of a cache by the same owner was said to be a secret location but it wasn't to me. This one didn't have the same word in the title but it was a secret to me and it took me a few minutes to find the end of the walkway. If I had read the description, I would have driven to the other end which I expect would have been much easier.

Once I got the first part of the adventure out of the way, I quickly found myself at ground zero. I found the nicely hidden cache after a short search. Thanks for bringing me to a location I did not know about.

Found the cache after a little bit of climbing. Top was a bit hard to screw off, but we made it. TFTC!

I was heading through the area this morning and decided to stop off and investigate this newish cache.
It was a nice break from my journey and I had no problems tracking it down after poking around the area for a couple of minutes.
Thanks very much for the cache.

Out for a drive and trad dot day (7 to go after this). An obscure yet familiar looking walkway a previous cache had taken me too — surprised it was back in 2016. Found at an expected spot with an elimination search. Thanks for the cache Geocacher_X!

As I was out and about at this end of Karori chasing a newly published cache, I decided to take the opportunity to come and collect a couple of other recently published caches as well, and this was one of them.

It was pitch black by the time I got here, but fortunately my torch does a good job of dealing with the darkness and I had no problem locating the cache thanks to spot on coordinates. All safe and dry here.

Thanks to Geocacher_X for placing and maintaining this Geocache.

I did enjoy each and every cache I find. It is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

I visited this path not all that long ago to find SAROC's Old Tarr cache which I had left for a very long time before finding it. It was archived not that long ago with the note of freeing up the area for other caches. Well that is indeed what happened! Having not explored this track further than that cache before I was surprised to find myself only a few 10s of metres further along than last time when the GPS zeroed out. The GPS took me to the wrong place first but the obvious next place to look is where the cache was. A remarkably good cache for someone with apparently just 2 finds who may not necessarily know what a "good cache" actually is! And the coords were pretty decent too considering we're under tree cover here. A good cache all round. TFTC.

One thing that irks me is FTF finders who can't be bothered replacing their "full log later" with an actual log. Taking up to 24 hours is bad enough let alone a week. Doubly so when the CO is new to the game is keen to see feedback on their hide. Please get your act together huhugrub.

22-Jan-23
Not sure why I never logged this one.

21-Jan-23
GPS was bouncing around a bit and almost gave up as I was rushing, but found after a short search, nicely tucked away. The general area would benefit from a cleanup. TFTC.

21-Jan-23
The first place I looked didn't reveal anything so I check the hint which told me I was totally off track. Checked a few objects and found the hide after the third or fourth. My GPS was a little off but that's because of the low GPS accuracy here.

I decided on a bit of impromptu caching this afternoon. This meant I was using my phone not my GPS device. This got me reasonably close, but given the tree cover that was about it. But using the hint it wasn’t too difficult to find. I noted two likely looking places and the cache was in the second one I searched. TFTC

19-Jan-23
Came for a long walk from home in the cool of a perfect evening to score the two new caches here in Karori. Found the cache after a short search of likely objects. My Garmin GPSr was placing it about 15 metres west of the listed coordinates so it was useful to have the hint to narrow down the options. All in good condition - signed log, TFTC!

Tried several apparent hint items that fitted the terrain rating without success, I had not come prepared to clamber any higher.

Will wait and see if huhugrub's full log when submitted sheds any light on it.

My first NZ find for 2023.

I saw the publication of this cache and Huhugrub’s FTF on it on Wednesday, when I just happened to be in Lille, France.

I noted robnzh’s DNF, but headed there anyway after a family picnic in Tawa. After a short search with GB Leader watching in, I had the cache in hand, 48 hours and 1 minute after Huhugrub.
