We probably wouldnt have detoured down here had it not been for this cache so thanks for placing it and bringing us to his special spot. A nice quick find once we arrived at GZ but very effective camo.TFTC
Oh my goodness, we love this sidetrack! So lovely underfoot & beautiful bush to enjoy & fishing spots, and we saw 2 whio. The tree at GZ was beautiful , and a nice tidy hide ; a favourite for sure. TFTC! +TB
What a mighty tree indeed!!Not quite where I thought but the trustee GPS of my phone helped me zero in on the right GZ. So glad it was near a beach .And gorgeous wee treasures to boot!TFTC
I couldnt get any data when approaching this cache but we didnt care. The walk and area was well worth the visit, cache or no cache. I was mesmerised, even the earth floor felt cushioned and soft. Without a hint, I still knew I had found the spot when I saw it. Delightful and a definite f/p!
I eventually stopped walking down the path. One the return trip, I took the side track to find this cache. TFTC.
Fantastic day out with hubby and dad, we hit the track around 8am and came off around 5 hours later having a nice haul of finds with no dnfs, thanks for the placement we loved the walk/labs and trads.
A nice ride down to this area and left the bike for the last part of the journey. All good here and replaced as found after retrieving the TB.After coming back from the Poutu canal I had lunch and a brew and headed out on the bile again for another 10-15km ride.Onto phase 2 for the day, cycling the Tongariro river walkways. Ended up turning round and heading back from Red Hut pool and covering same ground. More great scenery and a comfortable terrain level.I have (another) long weekend away from home starting Friday, destination is Turangi. Our work has a team-building day on Friday with Whitewater rafting in teams followed by Tokaanu hot-pools and shared lunch. It was a double banger event with half the people doing Wednesday and the remainder on Friday. As chance would have it I'd already identified this weekend as a weekend away at Turangi and booked the work bach to stay in Friday and Saturday night. That was fortunate as I drove myself up on Friday morning and stayed the weekend. I brought a work push-bike along too with the hope to cover more ground, and so it was. I found almost all of my target caches and a decent haul was made. Waking up Sunday morning to overnight rain and fog across the Desert Road left me glad I'd done most finding on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to all COs for their efforts hiding, especially Funkymunkyzone. I even bumped into another caching couple on the trails on Saturday, nice to meet you cympull and fisha1288.
Ventured off piste to grab this and check out the river. Nice easy find behind the little door, love the camo
Turangi was our chosen destination for Easter this year and despite the weather forecast the cycle trails and local event were on the to do list.ROS headed out with other cachers who were also staying in the NZMCA camp.Today the river trail was on the list after the event. At the crossroads we ventured down the side trail towards the river where there were many muggle cyclists. Walked to GZ from here TFTC.
Great to find a decent sized container. It deserved some swag, so I left some. TFTC
Having a couple days holiday in Trangi. After cold icy showers yesterday we are back to beautiful sunshine today. We have brought the bikes and enjoying a ride along the river and around the town. Thanks to all the CO s for the caches TFTC . Beautiful spot
This really is a lovely area and yes, perfect for a picnic. We were biking the Tongariro trail again today and picking up caches that we skipped yesterday. TFTC
I have walked and biked the main track many times, and my wife discovered this side trail a couple of weeks ago with the local walking group. Beautiful location and I'll come back here to throw a fly or two into the pools to see what lurks beneath. Thanks for the diversion today. Gets a fav point from me
7th find for the day. Mrs PorknPuha walked straight passed it.A nice quick, easy, find, grab, sign, and flee.TFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We happened to cast a wary caching eye southward (Turangi) and our alarm bells started ringing. There seems to have been a mini explosion of new caches down yonder way, so the time is right for a visit.
This was a good walk away from the main trail. We’ve not been down any of these river access tracks before. It shouldn’t have surprised us to spot an angler or two. These would be ideal waters for a bit of recreational fishing. Along the way, we passed a fisherman with a freshly caught trout… The cache was a quick find with spot on coords and hint. Thanks FMZ. TFTC.

thanks for the cache.
Headed down to Taupo for a long weekend to attend the Possum Night Trail run on Saturday. Left Auckland early on Friday, getting stuck in the traffic on the way to Fielddays at Mystery Creek. Soon left the State Highway to travel down to Turangi.
On Friday I decided to complete the Tongariro River Trail. I completed the 14.75km circular route in 4 hours of caching. Not sure how I missed this cache on the walk - think it might have been because I was focusing on caches/ad labs along the main track and therefore overlooked this one as it was so far off the trail, or thought the cache was on the other side of the river looking at the map zoomed out.
Anyway, once I realized, I was already on the other side of the river and there was no way I was going to go back for it. It just so happened that I would be returning again the next day to find a few ad lab finals that I didn't have time to find before having to drive to Taupo.
Returned to Turangi on Saturday morning to walk part of the Tongariro River Trail again. There were more muggles out enjoying the fine weather compared with yesterday. At least I had an idea where there was a path that would take me down to the water. It was a long quiet walk down the beautiful path and it took no time at all to locate the cache.

A quick find and a good cache.Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully. We stopped nearby for lunch.TFTC!
I decided to walk the loop track between the two swing bridges on the Tongariro River. Up the Eastern side side and down the Western. There was an AdLab cache, with a bonus, and several Trads. The full loop took me about 4.5 hours and was 11km long. I found 5 AdLab locations and 15 Trads in total. Not a bad haul.
A very nice spot for a picnic. I had a Jet Plane to eat.
Cheers for the cache, FMZ.

The perfect picnic spot was located whilst completing the Ad Lab - no time to stop and enjoy it though, we should have been home already, but keep getting distracted by caches along the way. TFTC

Nice quick find here thanks to the great hint, definitely a great place for a picnic ashamed there not a flat clear bit of ground for a tent this place would be the bee's knees.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley
