Herr Potter and I are staying nearby tonight and headed out for a short walk. We would have never discovered this sequoia if it were not for geocaching. Thanks for sharing it with us! We are heading to the geocaching Mega-Event in Dunedin this weekend. Hope to meet lots of kiwi cachers there!
Not the place I would have expected to find a sequoia! Thanks for coaxing us up here, and pointing us the way to a trail!Frau Potter and I are visiting New Zealand for the first time. Our first week has been cycling from Queenstown on the Around the Mountains cycle track, with various side trips including kayaking in Milford Sound. We are enchanted by the birds, the landscape and the people! This weekend, we will be in Dunedin for the geocaching mega event. Were looking forward to exploring there, too, and hearing lots of geocaching adventure stories!
Was walking along the Frankton trail so diverted to get this cache. Slogged it up the hill. Tried a few spots before finding the right spot. The views & stunning houses on the way down were amazing. [TFTC]
Wow. Thank you for the geocache in place I never knew existed. I am looking forward to doing the walk tftc
Trouve I have been here for a year, never paid attention to that tree. Thank you for that. Before leaving Queenstown Im looking for the caches I kept postponing ^^
What a tree-mendous tree. Was it a navigation aid even? it probable is still an informal one still today. The cache was easily located thanks to strange objects lying about . We are in Queenstown for nearly 2 weeks and so i managed to locate a few 0f the newer caches in the area and a few i had not previously got to earlier visits . thank you for this cache . I took several photos also
Replaced the cache container and log book, as the logbook was drenched. Hopefully this one lasts a bit longer.
A nice easy find on our way out of Queenstown today, but what an epic tree! Reminds me of one of my favourite songs, Cathedrals of the Nelder Grove. Absolutely stunning. Unfortunately the logbook was too damp to sign, so photo sent to CO as proof of find. TFTC!
A quick easy find at this impressive tree. We had to tip a little water out of the cache, and the logbook was pretty wet, but usable. TFTC
Good excuse to get out and up Queenstown hill. Never been up from this side, definitely a steep ascent.
Wow magnificent tree. My photos dont do it justice. Cache was a Quick easy find tho the log book is starting to get a little damp. TFTC
The pine cone on the container must have fallen off, but it still all works fine. I dried out the container and tidied things up a bit.
Stunning specimen!! Thanks for sharing. The cache and logbook are a bit wet already sorry to report. We put the lid on extra tightly
Love the camo work and a truly spectacular tree (sequoia) near GZ. Thanks for bringing us here to bask in its magnificence (and find the cache of course)

In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
We also acknowledge the traditional custodians of New Zealand / Aoteroa, as we geocache throughout their land while on holiday.

My first find in over a week. The container was wet but the log was dry. I covered a bit better with leaf matter after signing the log. TFTC
Called in here to pick up this new cache just on dusk. Will have to come back to see the sequiora properly one day. It definitely has a massive trunk.
Took awhile to spot the disguise in the dull light but Hal2929 yelled got it. Yah. Time to head homewards.
Thanks for the cache

On a roadie with Kiscardi getting a few caches. This was our last Queenstown cache and was found in half light so it took longer than expected. I will be coming back to view the tree later. thanks.
Amazing tree! Maybe the biggest truck redwood I've seen. found with Jonah. The cache is wet but the log is dry ATM. Thanks for the cache!
What a truly amazing tree. We are so glad you brought us here. I think that definitely deserves a favourite point. Great camo too. Then we went into town avoiding the main road too and looking at all the fancy houses. Such amazing views from up here.
What an amazing tree! Great detour on our way for a Fergburger. Love the container - Nicely crafted!
Tftc and greetings from Czechia, unexpected STF, wish you good luck in geocaching, cheers
In Arrowtown for the weekend and needing a cache, this fit the bill. Never been up here before but was surprised to see this tree here. Thanks for bring me up here. The cache was quickly found and I noted it was only found 40mins earlier.
Thanks for the cache, MacBayMeri

Heading to Cromwell but had to detour to see the tree. We went to Yosemite a few years ago and saw General Sherman. Big tree indeed. Dwarfed little Pengi. Plus we got a {ftf} at 1:15pm. A handy detour. Thanks.
