#255 25/10/2024 @2:15pmA quick get makes for a morale boost after the previous DNF
Out and about with **Crustyvarmint**, conquering the Sonic series! What a perfect day to exploresunny skies, loads of wildlife, and some caches that made us work for it. Thanks, Sonic, for the creativity!
This series has been in my sights for a while now. Today I joined up with Team Juzzmagic for a cycle/scooter ride along the trail, and what a lovely trail it is.Being a public holiday, and with superb weather, there were quite a lot of people enjoying a walk, or ride, along the track. We tried to not look too suspicious in our activities, but a couple of geocachers spotted what we were up to, and a pleasant chat ensued. Most of the containers were reasonably easy to spot, but this sneaky CO threw in a few very tricky hides, one of which we did not find this time. Thanks for your work here Sonic. We had a wonderful day.
After no finding the previous two (hoping to get them on the way back) I was relieved to finally find this one!
Thanks sonic_ for such an enjoyable series. All 16 found today without any trouble. I really liked the variety of placements and cache types, with some clever hides to keep you on your toes. I parked at Diamond Creek shops then made my way to the last bridge before quick footing it back before a storm passed through. Muggle factor was high today, but not too difficult to retrieve caches between cyclists and walkers. I replaced log sheets and ziplocks on about 4-5 soggy ones that were not signable. The excellent hint had me onto this one quickly.
A great hide. I would have missed it if not for the clue.A few runners around at the time, so I had to take care here. TFTC
After the DNF on the bridge we were happy to be away on this series and opened our account. All good.
Attended the sidetrack anniversary meet up at Diamond Creek so and while I was in the area I headed out with BackPAQer to grab a few nearby caches. We got out the scooters and did the trail. What a great day to be out and about caching, sun is shining and the temperature is perfect. Thanks for the cache and the hideLog book has been signed and returnedFind #2867
Found walked and seen by the end of the plank muggle looked at me weirdly but all is well thankyou
Seeing as it is Easter and almost all schools have started their school holidays I thought now was an opportune time to travel from the south-eastern suburbs to the northern suburbs for some days of caching. Normally it is such a pain in the behind given the numerous choke-points along the route.Traffic flowed well and I arrived at the start of this half of the DCT trail in roughly fifty minutes. It had been some time since I had combined caching and walking for exercise purposes so although I'd like to complete this half of the trail today and potentially walk the other half tomorrow I wasn't sure whether I'd be up for all or even a part of it. As it happened, I did manage to complete this half of the trail today bar one cache that I wasn't willing to risk the chance of injury to get to GZ. I'll be back for it once I'm less gravitationally challenged. The format of these logs will take the form of a template blurb applying to the trail as a whole, then any relevant comments regarding the individual cache below, with the top blurb separated by a few dashes. Many thanks to the CO for going to the trouble of putting these out. I'd imagine there were two to three rides involved before all of them were in place.---I'm currently gravitationally challenged and with that comes certain consequences such as heavy, awkward falls should the worst transpire. I weighed my desire to attempt this one against the possible consequences and decided to put this one on a list of caches to be attended too once the challenge has (hopefully) been resolved.
When EwanF suggested a bike ride this morning we jumped at the opportunity to complete the caches in the DCT Extension series. We started with a picnic at Wattle Glen, then rode to Hurstbrige, then all the way back to Edendale Farm. Such a good bike riding trail and a perfect day for a bike ride. The kids really liked this one. It was a fun find although I was worried they were going to drop the contents and they would be hard to retrieve. Not to worry though. All safe and sound.TFTC sonic____. Cache and log are both in great condition.
Found it! This penultimate cache on our New Year Eve Wander was a bit trickier to locate. I managed to scramble right round GZ and finally spotted the hiding place when I got back to where I started. TFTC SL
This was really cool we were looking around and my friend just stumbles across it thx for making this
This was hard like hell but it took us a long time to find and it was right in front of us
This one was a challenge! I was about to give up but with some encouragement from some passing muggles I saw some kids around there the other day and some determination I finally located this one! TFTC
Out doing some cache maintenance today. Cache is fine and now covered with some natural camo.
Decided to walk this trail to grab a few caches whilst I had the day off and in the Wattle Glen area. I walked the plank and sure enough there it was. treasure in the form of the cache. TFTC
Walked the plank a couple of times before realising it was the wrong plank! Took us about 5 minutes to find cache.

The ladies went out and did some more of this trail today. All caches found in good order unless otherwise stated. Thanks for the cache.
It’s been a while since our last scooter ride, so Geoturtle37 and I decided to visit this area to turn a few dots into smileys.
Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, sonic___

Blimy there arre a lot of rabbit holes around. So far seen one rabbit and one fox, middle of the day. Tftc.
Took my first walk along this trail today from Wilson Road as far as the last cache currently in this series. Stopped off for this one on my way back to my car... easily found after *walking the plank*... log extracted with a little difficulty... and signed.
Thanks **sonic__** for this cache and the extended series. Bit short of time today so the other caches can wait another day... and that's a good excuse for another walk along the trail!

Nice little ride with the Geokids. We fed some lovely cows, did some headstands in the sun and found a variety of caches. I like that they were all different! Cheers.

I headed out today with biggles1024, we were after the virtual at Kangaroo Ground but our timing could not have been any better if we were going there for the ANZAC day ceremony, the thing was we were there for the virtual, so we headed over to do some of this series to fill in some time before heading back to Kangaroo Ground.
After meeting up with icw & Ninja Tortoise, we continued along the trail finding the other caches without any trouble, we also meet up with JC_93 along the way.

**Find #5346**
**Traditional Find #3168**
Tuesday and its ANZAC Day. Steve and I headed for a T5.0 and a few other caches. The weather was perfect. Blue sky, sun and warmth and no wind.
We'd arrived at another location just as a service was about to start. We had expected the service to have been conducted just after dawn. We couldn't do what we wanted to do at that time, so came here to make a start on this series.
I met more geocachers along this trail than I ever have except for events. Everyone was enjoying themselves and the hides were in logical places.

Back on bikes today with tagalong, daughter and grandson. Not quite the same height as you while I walked the plank. You must be tall!
THanks for the fun sonic

Quick find for us. Beautiful trees. We didn't see any wasps at GZ but when we returned to the path geokid spotted two wasps mating and got a bit of a fright! TFTC!
We got there but we didn’t want to walk the gangplank because there were a lot of wasps
Walked the gangplank but unable to find it, a swarm of wasps has camped nearby so I didn’t want to linger too long to look
This one was really tricky. Do not want to give away too much but we were thrown off the plank for obvious reasons. We really needed our B.B.B.Berocca for stamina once we stopped overthinking and got back onboard the original thought we had this one in hand. Totally stumped on the intent of the clue given but brilliantly placed none the less. TFTC 498 in our quest to 500
I was up very early today, and after taking care of business, decided that some extra-curricular caching was in order. I definitely needed the hint for this one, and even then it took quite a while to find, because I was not thorough enough with my searching
A quick find for this one, for an old bloke I scrambled along the plank OK, A good hide.

My husband and I decided to walk along this new section of the DCT this morning as there were recently published caches to be found by us. We encountered a few walkers and many cyclists along the path but none of them delayed us in our task of finding the caches.
Initially we didn't read the hint and therefore searched more than we needed to. Once the hint was read it was an easy and fun search.
Thank you sonic_ for this cache and the continuation of the series.

Grub62 found this cache while I was being led astray by my GPS. Another nice hide. It was a good morning for a walk too. TFTC.
TFTC sonic___. On our early morning walk this morning we saw lots of black cows - even a calf drinking from its Mum, two goats, lots of rabbits and a ute with two workers drove past us on the walking track. I found this cache first today. Another well hidden cache.
Aaargh! And whatever else pirates say. I’d love to see this with more water in the hollow, because then the gangplank would come into its own. However much rain we got in October, there hasn’t been much since, and the gangplank is high and dry. On the positive side, so is the hide. Thanks sonic__ for releasing my inner pirate.
So many trees came down in the flood earlier this year. Now the area is bone dry and the creek a mere trickle. Thanks for bringing me along the trail again.
FTF! - saw these 6 pop up in my email last night and threw the bike on the wagon, awoke early to get them on my way to work
Started at about 6am, then onto the rest and found the last one as the sun came up
A wonderful morning of caching
A little balancing act takes you to a quick find!
