Logs
#7756On an overnight Hunter Valley escape with harveyt2079. After sampling some more local produce, we again ventured toward Branxton for more caching fun. This was our second and probably the main reason for visiting. This was harveyt's first encounter of a fishing cache. Easily spotted, retrieved and replaced.TFTC kingfisher_au
Checked on the cache after 2 dnf's today it is where I left it previously checked it out and the log from previous owners maintenance is still current everything is okay to go
DNF. If it is missing Ms you loose a few could be possum if theyre in the area. Possums destroy a few of mine at home thinking theyre edible.
I knew I would not get this one, I don't have a fishing implement and am unable to use one, but I had hoped to spot the cache. However, I could not even see it but I assume it was there, having been recently replaced.
Replaced after another stolen about the 30 cache that has gone missing in the last 2 months, so sad
We went round and round the tree for this one and spent over an hour. Is there something that we are missing here, we extended our fishing pole to 11mtrs and then re focused our eyes on that level. Spotted what we think were all the dead branches suitable for the hide but nothing. We widened our search to the nearby trees but nothing really looked right for placement. Back to the tree and another go, another 10min agreed to look before we call it, another 10min, just 5 more min and that's it. Eventually light was becoming difficult to see up in the trees to differentiate any container, so we had to leave it. We even searched on the ground just in case... Maybe better light or fresher eyes next time.
Found with MummyPenny on a rainy Hunter weekend holiday. This was about the limit of our extendability and dexterity but we managed the retrieval and secure return. Thanks kingfisher_au.
Found, with shaneo58, We came up to Branxton to attempt all the new caches placed since we've been here last. This was a little troublesome as the TOTT fell apart and needed fixing to replace cache.Signed log and Cache replaced as found.**Thanks For The Cache** kingfisher_au.This makes the 4th cache of 10 for today making a grand total of 4382 at 10:49AM on this Friday the 3rd of May in the Year 2024
I brought my TOTT on this trip - a gift from a fellow geocacher PHLphotos. The extent of mine was just enough to retrieve and return the cache container. Giving this a fave point for the location, and it also adds to my UGC goal of 50 or more D ratings of 4 and above. Little did I know just how cool the next cache was going to be!
Another day of rain making it hard to cache but armed with rain jackets we set off to once more explore the area with the local caches. We wanted to do these caches yesterday but the weather was crap but unfortunately today is no better so wearing a newly purchased raincoat we decided to return and brave the elements anyway. The male Triton worked his way around this mini series now with the rain letting up for a short time. This cache was the one that initially alerted us to this small group of caches as the male Triton has been on a fishing expedition since we left home for these holidays. A nice cast was made and the fish caught easily. Thanks kingfisher_au for the pole placement.
Out geocaching with kaz444 for the very first time let alone going tree fishing with her. Took a while to hook the prize ,but harder to replace it with the conditions. All seemed good but I think I left a bit of my tackle behind. I've lost an expensive pair of sunnies . If someone finds them please let me know. A part from this downer, it has been a great day . TFTC kingfisher_au
We were able to spot the cache but our 8m pole was just not long enough for the job. It would have been helpful also if we were just a bit taller.Found all the rest & will log shortly. Thanks
Looked at this once before and realised I needed a TOTT. Today came back with the right tool (just). It was a high one and the breeze made things difficult. Got there in the end. TFTC
Tftc kingfisher , great bush surrounding this rest area to walk around. Made ever better by having such fun caches here.BL spotted this one, was at the extent of our pole. !
It was not too difficult to wander through this area with goingplaces2. This was No 4of the 4 we found and soon had both names added to the log. Then we tried to replace the container hurriedly as the storm was almost on us. Of course the wind played havoc with the replacement, so it took longer than we hoped. Once done, we raced back and got to the car just before the heavy rain started. TFTC.
Set out with ilook4geo today to go for a walk and pick up the caches in this area, but a storm interrupted that plan. We had completed 4 of the 6 when it started to rain, so we high tailed it back to the car pronto and reached there just as it started to pour down. This one took a while to spot and our 9 m pole was at full length. This one was the last for the day before the storm hit and we decided to call it quits. It is a more traditional container. Thanks for the cache go to kingfisher_au.
I did all the others, then went back to the car to get my pole. It is a little difficult with cars coming and going. I still need to make a better attachment at the top, as mine is a little big, making it difficult to put things back. Took a little while to see the thing in the tree. TFTC. Fav for the effort.
I was in the neighbourhood to get another cache today so I thought I would come back here and put my name on the log. Cache and log in excellent condition
We tried about 3 months ago but we had no fishing pole and we were successful today
Been driving past this everyday without a TOTT onboard. Took the opportunity to stop off today. Thought the wind may have created an issue, but seemed fairly protected. TFTC
Find #1456
What a great cache. Came with a fishing pole I borrowed from Shaneo58 to find this cache to fill a day in my calendar. Brought the geokids along who thoroughly enjoy it. We got the cache down and were Hopi g to find a pencil in the cache as we had completely overlooked it as we were so excited to use the fishing pole. Will have to come back and sign it.
Favourite point from us

Mr Minion and I set of today to find a few caches that are a little harder for me to do on my own. The weather was not the best, but we had a really great day. We found a car close by and walked in, finding the cache fairly quickly here. mr Minion had no trouble getting the cache down but it took several goes to get it back up. Thanks for the cache kingfisher_au def fav point for the fun. tnln replaced as found sl
Omg! Thankfully 2pods were adept with fishing rod (having had tuition in fishing rod behaviour from kingfisher_au). After many attempts and much patience from one 2pod to retrieve and another 2pod to replace - success!!! It rained while we were there - what intrepid adventurers! TFTC
No, this was an adventure in several parts. Firstly, finding the blessed thing, and then the pole… We 2pods had had a lesson from CO in assembling the pole, but no actual experience, so it was very interesting. The top, swaying around miles above us, Goldberry17 and we getting dizzy, looking up, craning our necks. And then it started to rain on our upturned faces – this made it interesting for those wearing glasses. It’s hard to run for cover with a 10 meter pole! But that was only the beginning of the adventure – replacing the prize was quite another story. No one offered to climb up the tree to put it back, so it was try, try, try again – and again, and again. But what a sense of achievement finally! TFTC!
Today we headed off from Cessnock on a mission to tick off 3 more LGA's.
Your cache was in the target zone and one we found along the way.
This was a great series kingfisher_au as each cache was different as they had their own challenges. We were pleased to see the effort that was put into this series, yep a TOTT was needed!, and adding to our favourites.
Many thaks to all CO's for placing caches and allowing us to complete our task.
We travelled nearly 600klms and enjoyed our day exploring these areas.

Hooley Dooley this was high!
Out caching with Sneaky Ninja Girl and Classic Cache.
We ran into TechSavvy on the way to this one. Great timing!
Third time I’ve used my new TOTT today and it earned its stripes on this one. Got it down easily but getting it back on was a mission! FP for the test of patience! TNLN TFTC

TFTC. I darted out here to do the 4 new caches before heading off on holidays on Monday and knew I wouldn’t be able to do the 5th one but alas I ran into Garbageman and his lovely family at one of the other caches. I spotted the TOTT in his hand and was excited that I could go with them and get this cache. It was interesting watching everybody have a go at getting the cache down and back up. I need to get myself one of those TOTTS. A favourite from me.
Today is the sixth day of the Sims_family/Dromaniax big road trip to Queensland and back again. We are towing a very big trailer, which was chockers, but when you have a mission, someone else is paying for the fuel, and there is the opportunity for nine days of caching fresh fields, you jump at the chance. We have a long list of target caches and hope to cross quite a few goals off the list on this trip.We were heading back south now, and the Trailer was significantly lighter. We had noticed a cluster of prospective [FTF] caches the previous night and had them on watch. When we were within 45mins of the cluster, they started to be found. We wondered if we could make it to nab an elusive interstate FTF.As we pulled into the rest area, we met darth trader and exchanged pathtags. We then made our way to GZ with our TOTT and met greenbowtie11. Before much longer, we had the cache in hand and a joint FTF with darth trader, greenbowtie11 and Sims_family.Thank you for this excellent Traditional cache kingfisher_au. A favourite Point from us for our first NSW FTF.
I noticed this morning when I got to work that I had some notifications for new caches nearby. I checked and noticed that they had not been yet found.
I checked at lunch and noticed that they had not been yet found.
I checked when I had packed up and noticed that they had not been yet found.
So I made a slight detour on the way home, only to meet a fellow geocacher nearby.
On the way back to the geo-vehicle to collect some tools that were entirely too short I bumped into some big numbers guys from interstate with more experience in this type of hide/find moving in, but with more appropriately designed tools for the task in hand.
The tool was at maximum reach but the find was made from the ground.
Joint FTF with Sims Family, Dromaniax and Greenbowtie
