Need another other today as we are trying to fill our other for days for the month. So a trip to the mighty Ohau it is. Car park was empty upon arrival, so I parked rather close to GZ. Had an idea (incorrect however) where the cache was, and so inspected many wrong things. Was about to start the head scratching when I noticed a suspicious extra, and indeed it was the prize. Another great hide from a master! FP given. Thanks TwigNZ #1258

Awesome hide, tftc

Spent a long time looking at something else that looks out of place but is not a cache. In the end, some close scrutiny of some previous cachers photos gave this one away. TFTC!

Im logging this as a dnf, mainly because yes I didnt find it, but also because both times (on the way down to Porirua for work and on the return trip home) there was a mugglewagon parked up with people attached I had a bit of a nonchalant-looking search both times but couldnt really get my teeth stuck into it. Also my GPS was freezing, not making it any easier. Ill log it as a dnf but be back for a more thorough search

Although the coordinates were good, we took a long time to spot this nicely camouflaged cache, which gets a favourite from us. TFTC

19-Sep-24
It took a little while but got there in the end. A fav point from me. Thanks for all the work that goes into these caches.

15-Sep-24
This one was well hidden ! Looked at without seeing it, touched it without realizing it. Tx for a great puzzle! Tftc.

Had quite a surreal experience here at the Ohau Community Hall. I'd just arrived at GZ and got out of the car and was standing holding my phone when another car pulled up in the carpark and the driver wound down her window, engine still running. She asked me if I'd seen anything strange. Not sure if she was a geocacher that knew about the cache or just a muggle, I answered in the negative (kind of honestly, as I hadn't even had the chance to start searching yet, and the only strange thing at this point was myself). I asked her what she meant and she started describing a man walking with two dogs, and she said she didn't want to give too much away and seemed to be talking quite cryptically. After I said I hadn't seen them, she said something along the lines of "you don't know do you?" and this confused me more. I said "I don't know what?" and she said "about natural laws...look it up". Anyway, we said our goodbyes, she took off and I had a quick look but couldn't spot anything. I was feeling a bit confused about the whole conversation so I left too, heading up to Levin. I was thinking about things after I left and I was still wondering about her riddles so I decided to have another look on my way back home. Took a little while to spot the very nicely hidden cache. The whole episode was a little out of the ordinary, so gets a favourite point from me, TFTC

Taking advantage of some good weather to have a day on the Kapiti Coast. There was a function on at the hall but the cache was sufficiently far away that it wasn't any impediment to search. Spotted the rather well-done hide after about 10 minutes checking likely spots. Signed log, TFTC!

Looked around for a bit bit no luck

21-Jul-24
After a couple of unsuccessful visits, I am pleased to have this one in the bag.Muggles and short-attention-span grandchildren have thwarted previous attempts, but my son found the sneaky hiding place while I was playing for a dance in the hall - he did make me find it for myself, though.I had had my hand on it several times without twigging (apologies !).All safe and dry. Many thanks for the placement.

After receiving a tip-off that there was an issue with this cache, I stopped by to investigate.Sure enough it had been replaced badly by 1 or more previous finders, so had to do a running repair to get it back to ship-shape again. All good now...

Yus!! What a fabulous way to finish the weekend. On my 4th attempt. I just stood and looked and looked at where I knew it had to be and yay, finally, I spotted something. Very pleased to finally tick this one off. Many thanks for the cache TwigNZ. FP definitely.

Down for the CO CITO event in Kimberly Reserve. He gave me a small hint as this was my second time here. Soon had this good hide in my hand. A favorite point from me. Thanks Twignz for the cache.

Ohh, took a few minutes to spot the difference then a few more to work out how it worked. Nicely done. Another favourite point for you. Up from Dunedin for the weekend and heading to the cannonball run events near Levin. Thanks for the cache, TwigNZ#5889 ** Make your way to Dunedin for New Zealands next large multi-day event. GCA7ZHD Geo Toroa will be held on NZs Labour Day long weekend 26-27th October 2024 **

After not finding this cache n October, I was keen to have another go. Although I had no new ideas, the decision was made to attempt it again today and this was my first stop on my northwards journey after attending an event in Petone. My GPSr seemed to prefer a slightly different location to that of my earlier visit. This helped but it still took me a few minutes to work out what was going on. I now wonder if I have missed similar types of hides at other locations.Great work, TwigNZ. It's a favourite point from me.

No joy for me here tonight. Will be back.

03-Feb-24
Wow. We looked no luck, walked away and found another one nearby. Came back looked again and eventually we had it in hand!

Here with kimmy+co as we head north for a spot of caching over a 4 day weekend.Mr Chicken was giving us no usable hints, so we took a break and went up the road to find the too other nearby. ironically had I have used the same method to find this one as I attempted and failed at out last find I would have had it instantly.

Another one you don't see too often, so a Fav.point given for the devious hide here.....Day 4 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was.TFTC.Razz

23-Oct-23
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.This was day 4 of our trip and we headed South from our accommodation caching down SH 1 to Levin and back through the towns to Himatangi. This took longer than it should have, but happy to have it in hand eventually. FP given

Day #4 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend.Well this one took a few minutes to locate but we knew we needed to persevere so we did. Finally Mr HeMaLuDy said 'aha....and there it was in his hand'. Check everything carefully is all I can advise! Thanks for the cache - a fav point.

Very cool. Gets a fav point from me.Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. This was day 3 of our trip. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"

A couple of days in Welly at a conference and heading home after enjoying some nice weathers in the cdd as capital. I was in a van with a few colleagues, and had a couple of guns options for the return trip, faffed up Manor Park so settled on just Ohau Hall. With Bryce alongside, and pre-armed with some info to negate a long search = unhappy colleagues , the find was soon tracked down, and signed. All good here and happy to add another GO to the Hall haul.

Very clever TwigNZ!!! Took four pair of eyes but then only one!

08-Oct-23
I love love love caches like this. Aha. There.

07-Oct-23
First to log a DNF! It was raining quite heavily when I arrived so I wasn't keen on being here too long. My hoped for quick find did not eventuate. I have since read earlier logs and can see it was quite a challenge even when there were a lot of searchers present. I will return with a more open mind and see how I get on.

30-Sep-23
After attending the CO's event the attendees ventured out into the great beyond to collect the new caches published, and some others close by. By the time I arrived there was a sizeable group of cachers taking turns searching an area of interest. Ahhh, tricky tricky tricky... a great hide, and definitely deserving of a favourite point!I have also attached my photo of the "Geocachers preferred mode of transportation".

After an amazing lunch, we learned about the caches that were being published. Eatherlord Haydn_seek Miow4 and I all hope in the cars to grab this and another cache. We were the first of the rest of us group to arrive at the gz. After failing to find, we suddenly see this fountain of catchers flowing into the car park. After a difficult find, we eventually found it. Thanks for the awesome cache Tftc Joint [FTf]

#14,183. Joint {FTF} and first day find. At the conclusion of the nearby On your marks, get set, GO! 5 event, a couple of geocaches were published in conjunction with it. So we all got on our marks, got set, and went in search of them. This was the first of the two. A bit of a tortoise race, and we were the last to arrive on Muhunoa West Road in Ohau. The last group of the rest of the team was already gathered. Thought it had been found by them, and it would have been an easy find for us. But no, folks were still examining the spot. So joined in but we were all looking in the wrong area. Until someone said we were so close and said they had spotted something. So, yes, there it was. A very good hide indeed. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log (as the rest of the team).Favorite point added for the hide. Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.

Man, do cars leave eateries quickly when a new cache is published -however, not as fast at the Nelson cachers (and thats when they dont have the equipment to retrieve the cache ). Lots of people looking here, there and everywhere with the CO getting a tad amazed no one could see it (especially when it was 3 inches (not sure what happened to metric measurements ) from one cachers nose). When there was a gap between the bodies I spotted something and knew that was the cache. The CO heard me giggle, asked if I had spotted it and soon it was found by others. Favourite for the great hide and thank you for the joint {FTF}.Out and about in the area with Itchyfeet2020 -as usual lots of laughter going on! Kia ora rawa atu for the cache TwigNZ.

A very eventful find, Joint {ftf}. Bit of a cache meet up on this one ?? Lovely to meet you all. Very nice hide. Tftc

24-Sep-23
I dont think we can claim a FTF on this, Lenagem and I arrived hot on the heels of Yeti and Phronimos and had only just joined the search when the infamous "got it" sounded out. Nice to meet some fellow cachers. Thanks for a neat hide. FP from us

I conducted an in-field consumer survey, the results of which strongly suggested that I add a half notch to the D rating of this cache...

24-Sep-23
How many cachers did it take to find this one, we were all searching, then finally it was found while the CO is just watching us, we signed the log the rest of us to save space, we were allowed a {FTF} on this cache, gets a fav point from me, tftc TwigNZ

Joint [FTF] following the Ready, Set, Go event. Logged as The Rest of the Team. A clever hide, tftc!

24-Sep-23
A trad at a hall OK that should be straight forward but little did i know it was far from a quick easy find . it so very cleverly crafted and with about 15 cachers all hunting for, it it still took over fifteen minutes and finally a 'you're getting close ' nudge from the cache owner before it was found . We had nearly all descended on GZ, after coming from the ready set go event in levin, and so there were alot of cachers around as well as four different coloured Swift cars which we lined up for a photo shot ! thank you for this very clever cache and well worth a fav point from me and thanks for the joint FTF on this cache .

24-Sep-23
After the event in town A couple of caches got released - the CO's way of telling us "It's time you lot buggered off!" Which we did. In dribs and drabs, admittedly. After assisting the CO with some maintenance at Timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (most by providing a running commentary of encouragement from below) we all headed out here. I was slightly in two minfs here, as I am working my size Other dot-days, but the odds of getting out here on a week night are close to zero, so I decided to join in for the find anyway.Signed as the ReadySetGo crew, being me, Barefootguru, Infoferret, Bruzie, GSEL, and... and... and someone else. Many thanks for the joint {FTF}.

24-Sep-23
Weve squeezed the Seagnoid into the Wattmobile to return him to Wellington, then joined 2 other cachers already scoping GZ. We made a quick find of the nicely constructed hide. Event {FTF} signed as Team of 7. Im saving the multi, so thats it for me today, thanks TwigNZ!

24-Sep-23
By the time we arrived at GZ, there was quite a mob here still searching for the cache.Having a large group can be detrimental to 'seeing' what needed to be seen, but eventually the hide was spotted and the log was signed simply as 'the rest of the team'.Thanks for setting this up and the joint (FTF) TwigNZ

24-Sep-23
I attended COs event today, during which this cache was released. On arriving at GZ, CO was there to egg us on. Even though I was very close to GZ, I wasnt able to find the location of the hide, so moved out to let somebody else have a turn. It took way longer to find than it should have. Eventually the location was spotted. Great hide, FP from me SmileApparently the line-up of cars in the photo is a screaming frenzy of Swifts LOLJoint [FTF] with others who attended the event.

Despite the forecast of a rather stormy weekend the worst had passed by and we enjoyed a pleasant journey down to the event, "On your marks, get set, GO!", and good caching weather to celebrate the start of daylight saving. We were fortunate enough to receive a couple of new geocaches to search out before we headed home again. This was the second we went to and proved to be tricky in more than one way. There were a couple of guys getting items from their cars and taking them into the Hall, so we tried to time our search around avoiding them. In the end I told them not to worry about us as we were playing a game and gave a very brief resume of geocaching. They were relieved to hear it as they'd been getting concerned about people turning up and looking about. They left us to it and shortly after that a carload of five cachers turned up to join us! One of them made the find and they signed the log Team of 7 - kindly including us in that total (see photo of log ).The cache is neatly constructed and has a subtle link to the hint. It is cleverly done - gets a fav from us. TFTC and thanks for the Joint {FTF} TwigNZ Smile

24-Sep-23
Joint FTF with other attendees of the event.barefootguru (with his Wattmobile), InfoFerret, GSEL and myself (with special guest theSeagnoid) were gathering a few caches after TwigNZ's Get Set Go 5 event, while heading back towards Wellington.Pulled up and found (who turned out to be geodatum) searching around GZ. Given the hint I had an idea as to the nature of the cache (thinking it was something like another cache in the not too distant area) but that wasn't it. GSEL mentioned something and I spotted the other method of cache concealment and soon had the cache revealed to the others. I signed the log as "Team of 7" to save space and evidential photos were taken. All good here, and TFTC+FP.

[FTF] with the 'Rest of the Team' today. Following the CO's event we first headed off to one of his very impressive tree climbs before 16 of us found ourselves searching for this little guy. All while the CO commented that he didn't intend it to be that challenging - I think he was enjoying himself. Well that many sets of eyes it had to be found eventually and it was. A easy FAV for the great hide and I do love old hall ones so well done.

#13,566. Joint {FTF}. After attending the nearby event in Levin, the CO mentioned two new caches were being published today and this was one of them. Our carload of myself, bruzie, Infoferret, the Seagnoid and Barefootguru arrived here to find geodatum looking for the cache. We had a rough idea that it would be a clever camo cache but just what type. Several styles were mentioned when bruzie plucked something and said its this type. Awesome cache. So subtle. My crap eyesight had failed to see the subtle sign that bruzie saw straightaway. We soon signed as all 7 of us or similar and had it hidden before others arrived as we know how much fun it is looking for a cryptic caches. He He. Thanks TwigNZ for hiding it here. Favourite from me.

{FTF} with the 'Rest of the Team' today. After the CO's "On your marks, get set, Go" event we headed off to one of to one of Twig's impressive tree climbs where we watched in awe as he nimbly shinned up the tree to perform maintenance. When Talla64 and I did this cache a year or so ago, there were a lot more branches - is it the locals who are sawing them off I wonder. Then 16 of us came here and searched for this sneaky little cache. We all had a go at searching (I actually had my hand on it but didn't use the right technique - duh!) The CO commented that he didn't intend it to be that challenging. With 16 sets of eyes it had to be found - and it was. Definitely worth a FP. Thanks very much for the cache and the entertainment TwigNZ.

{FTF} with others. Found after a search with others who attended the event put on earlier today by TwigNZ. Quite a difficult one to find even with several pairs of eyes looking for it. FP awarded for a cunning hide. All good though here with a nice dry log book. Thanks for the cache TwigNZ

24-Sep-23
A joint [FTF] of an event published cache. After attending the nearby event where this and anther nearby cache were released, I was starting to make my way back to Wellington (chasing yet another new cache). I stopped by here first to join a few others in the hunt for this simple but difficult to spot hide. We went back and forth a few times before the tell-tale sign of something unexpected was spotted.---Thanks to TwigNZ for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Fast] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

Phronimos was with us when we quickly found the new Multi that was also released for the event. We mentioned that we here headed for this new Trad next, to which he stifled a chuckle and simply said "Good Luck..." SurprisedArriving at GZ, we scouted GZ and quickly came to the conclusion that this was NOT going to be a quick find. However we were quickly joined by a dozen others who quickly came to the same conclusion. The CO joined the group as well and added what he felt were 'helpful' hints but just confused and frustrated us more, and made him laugh more!Eventually someone standing at the back of the crowd spotted it, which focused our eyes on where she was looking and it became a quick retrieve.I honestly think that this is an instance where "the more eyes the better" does not work.We were in a fever trying to find it, and overlooked the finer details that individuals would likely have seen if we were caching individually. For this I will gladly give a FP for the subtlety of the hide and its excellent construction.Logged as 'the rest of the team'. Thanks for the joint {FtF}!

We got to this later than others and found ourselves having an extended search for the cache. Wheres the mass of geocachers when you needed them? No one came to our rescue so we persisted and finally - bingo! Great hide and thanks for the joint {FTF}. Happy to add a favourite point.
