Thank you for hosting this geocaching Event! The date of the Event has passed. We automatically archive Events after 30 days (60 days for Mega- and Giga-Events). Attendees can still log archived Events, log trackables, and share their experiences.
WOW, Aucklands weather meeting outside here being challenging as we were in between showers and down pours had sunny moments around the parks concrete table, with its compass points. Regardless, it was giving us opportunity to chat and enjoy freshly baked cheese muffins by Helen. We had a mix of ages and stages of new to experienced geocachers for company, and heard amazing experiences told in good humour. We managed to continue catch-ups with a rugby game occurring, although having to run to shelter under their Sports facilities. TFTE
It was great to meet so many and chat to get to know more lovely Geocachers. We appreciated that you came from afar too. TFTE
Good morning all.The weather is not looking at all promising for my Spring picnic at 12.But you never know, we might get a break between the showers to allow it to remain at Gribblehirst Park.If not, I see Westfield St Lukes is pretty close, and could be an alternative. But I have no idea whether its viable, having never been there. Not many cafes. Starbucks an option? Anyone got another idea? Happy to get feedback from attendees! In the meantime, we will keep to the current plan. I expect to be at GZ at say 11.30 when I will let everyone know whats what! Watch this space ?? (Its peeing down in Remuera as I write this!)My cell is 021 067 5239 in case of need!
You are very early Gorby - we are en route back from CBD with tramyard on the bus. Be there soon. Keep dry!
Came over to say hello and have a chat The weather couldn't make up its mind so we went back and forth between the compass table and a sheltered spot under the rugby club, but still managed a lot of nice catching up with some local and some travelling cachers. Thanks for hosting Roger, it is always nice to see you and Brenda - and was cool to properly meet Anna as well this time. All the best with your travel back to Wellington!(#2070)
( ???? ??)? I arrived somewhat early, I had taken a couple of buses to get here, but unfortunately, the way the buses worked I was here at 10:30am, well before the start time. Well, we finally had a place to have the catch-up! It was still at Gribblehirst Park after-all. Glad we didn't have to move anywhere else, but the weather was horrible, as Lumin said, it couldn't make up it's mind, but we did get some intermittent sunshine and some decent conversations too.( ???? ??)? Hello to Roger and Brenda from Wellington and our German visitor Anna, welcome to miserable Auckland. Hope you enjoy your brief visit and get some good caching going on. ( ???? ??)? We had some lovely scones with butter by supernanny, thanks Helen! Biscuits were also provided, then much more yakking, then it was time to go. I shot off with supernanny to do some more caching, and we said goodbye to the the ones still here and that was that. Thanks Roger for hosting the event.
It was so nice to host you in Auckland! Thank you for organising the event and the weather wasn't that bad ... We went to the CBD together by bus to warm up before the event.Good to see you again Brenda and Roger! It was also a pleasure to meet Anna from Germany! See you soon! I hope!
#2612. What to do? Go with the flow and hope the rain stayed away, or head indoors?Go with the flow! Thank you all you intrepid Aucklanders for joining us Wellingtonians out in the tricky weather conditions for the spring picnic. Thanks for the scones, Supernannny; the AdLab & bonus cache, lumin298; the FaceTime call, G_2, (yes, you may log your visit); and the stories from you other attendees. Despite the showers, (yes, it did rain of course), it was a very enjoyable Event. On behalf of GB Leader & Dianna58, thanks again for coming ??
It was great to meet and greet new and previously acquainted geocachers at this Spring picnic in challenging Aucklands spring weather of some heavy showers or moments of sunshine. Great to chat about experiences shared by all around Aotearoa. We appreciated contributions made of a variety of finger food of cheese muffins and other slices. Thanks for attending the event. TFTE
Wow ! It really was 4 seasons in one day in Auckland today.....maybe not snow or wind...but there was definitely hail, rain and sun ! Anyway with the arrival of Roger and Brenda and their guest Anna it was all smiles and heaps of catching up and talking of past and future trips and Adventures !Even stormcrow50 is still working in Auckland and found his way here !Plus the usual keen , crazy ones ; Gorby, tramyard, lumin298 and me....Not to forget our virtual attendee G-2 , who is currently not able to drive !!!!!!!!But he sure looks very perky !Thanks guys for hosting....glad you had a great time up north...you certainly both looked very relaxed and refreshed....you have had some great adventures.
Well, I'm here.... about to bucket down. Im sheltering undercover at the football club.
Nice to see some new faces and thanks for allowing me to attend by FaceTime due to recent back surgery, very grateful Thanks!
I suppose I had better attend too. Good to see both my local meterologists have signed up too, so in the unlikely event of a sudden extreme weather event, it's all on at lumin298's! Or she could pop down with a tramping tent for us to shelter in!
It seems people are figuring out that the best way to convince me to attend their events is by setting them up in what is essentially my back garden. I think I'll be able to make it to this one too
