We had a game of cricket down on the green below, so once that was done it was time for a wander up the hill to find this cache. Cheers
Vielen Dank Ziggichads fr diesen Tradi!_______________________________________I had planned a day in Akaroa and the surrounding area today. Although it was nice and sunny in the afternoon, the boat tour to the Hector's dolphins was cancelled. What a shame, I still had this tour in my head from 2011 and still rave about it today. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be, so I'll just keep the best memories of that tour. Nevertheless, I took a nice walk through Akaroa, then travelled along Summit Road with various stops and walks and enjoyed the fantastic view with lots of sunshine. Of course, a day like this isn't perfect without geocaches. So I combined a visit to the lighthouse in Akaroa with a walk through the French Cemetery and visited, searched for and logged the appropriate cache. Many thanks to Ziggichads for this tradi!
An interesting and peaceful and respectful place. Tiz13 found exactly where the description/hint said it would be. Found during the Dunedin Mega Tour by Tiz13 and Snips and Co.Thanks for the cache ziggiechads
We came to visit this French cemetery...it wasn't what we were expecting ...but still interesting the local was a bit shocked to see us up there with the car...oh we also found this cache
Day 4 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc. We are staying in New Brighton and today we headed over to Akaroa for a day of mixed fortunes. A beautiful sunny day and a beautiful location but quite a few DNFs.What an isolated location with a great story. Thanks for contributing to the fun
Day four of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Staying in Christchurch and spent the day traveling down to Akaroa and playing tourist. We were up here doing the final stage of the AdLab, and got two for one!A good sized cache for this location. Thanks, Robmc.
We are all the way down here in NZ to support our daughter at a sporting competition. And we are making the most of our time to check out the beautiful city of Christchurch and grab some Southern hemisphere caches! QEF at GZ, TFTC
Didn't sign the log as it was raining heavily, but we spotted the geocache at GZ
This area is one of the waypoints in my Adventure lab so no problem finding the cache. Thanks, Ziggiechads. #10390
Thanks for hiding this cache Ziggiechads I appreciate it. Jude_E and I are on a mini geocaching trip around the the peninsula. . Believe it or not there are a few caches in the area that we have not found.
Day 2 of our epic Christchurch trip. After the chaos of the first day, we decided to slow things down a bit for day 2. Todays plan was Port Hills, Lyttleton, then around and out to Akaroa. While not specifically a cache day, it would be rude not to collect any caches along the way.
Having solved a bunch of mysteries over the past couple of months, including the night before finding them. A spontaneous trip down was made by Kiwi Does Stuff and team Reschedule to collect some Canterbury caches. We have headed out to set ourselves a personal best for a days caching. The perfect caching wagon (a rental car) has been acquired allowing us to go anywhere with ease. All of the caches have made for an enjoyable weekend to remember and resulted in a solid and best days caching.Apologies for the generic log, all caches signed are a mixture of Res, Resch & Reschedule - a big thanks to the CO for creating, placing and maintaining all of their caches. TFTC!
I had no idea Akaroa had so much french history. Just came out here on a whim. From Idaho in the USA. TFTC! Beautiful area out here
#23632. We completed the nearby ad lab stage and then quickly found the cache. In fact we found two caches: a camo painted tupperware-type container, and a hummus container with "Geocache" written on the top. We opted to sign the log in the tupperware-type container. Nice spot. TFTC.
We've been here before, probably for a cache, but happy to return to look for another. We couldn't remember if there was parking here so was pleased to see there was. Such a narrow road, luckily we didn't meet another vehicle.A quick find of two containers. One container was definitely superior to the other one so that's the log book we signed. Two for the price of one, or should I say three because we also found an ad lab stage here . TFTC.
#2390 (Tontako Team) Kia Ora from Spain! We found this cache during our New Zealand / Aotearoa holidays. As we didnt know which of the two containers is the valod one, we signed them both. Double cache, double fun! TFTC

Gevonden samen met Bald Eagle op onze trip door Nieuw Zeeland op 17 mrt. 2024 11:35. Dank je wel Ziggiechads voor deze cache. Groetjes van mij 1660 uit Eindhoven
We were docked in Akaroa New Zealand for the day on our ship - Holland America's Volendam. We started by going to the lighthouse for a cache and then headed up into the hills into the Garden of Tane. What a beautiful place and trails! We then kept going up and did other caches in a few cemeteries and at two monuments. We then went back down and did a few caches and a LAB in Town. We wound up with 9 caches on the day in our 9-mile hike/walk combo.Thank you to GH6710 for 4 of our caches and to the other 5 COs for their efforts and for the other 5 caches.Thank you also to the Lab creator for that Adventure.#####################This Cache: Quick Find, again after a steep climb.
We definitely got to this one the hard way. After walking up the long hill to the Giant's House, we cut over on a road and path through a residential area which involved more up, then a lot of down. Would have been much easier to go back down to Rue Lavaud then back up to this one. An interesting piece of history, though, thanks for bringing us to this location.
Cool spot thanks: found on honeymoon with Kim and Reannon.Kim is sad he missed the end of the Super Bowl
An easy find here today, have come here for other caches previously but never noticed this one??Logbook signed at 13:34, Sunday, 27th January. Cache number 310, TFTC!
During our trip around NZ we also visited this place. We found several caches here. Thank you. Greetings from the Czech republic.
A nice cool spot to stop on a 31 degree day. An interesting place to look around. TFTH
On a weeks tiki tour around the top of the south. After dinner we went for a little drive around the mean streets of Akaroa seeking out things worth seeing off the main drag. Always keen for a bit of history we stopped here, read the info board and went a-cache-hunting. Thanks Ziggiechads#4890Logged using Cachly.
Thanks for showing me this part of Akaroa... i'm travelling for 3 weeks now and I ate a lot of hummus. thanks lisa
A quick visit to this cemetery, revealed this cache and a suprisingly dry log given the container. Good to see history preserved and people remembered, even if not in the original way. Tftc
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.Having arrived an picked up my rental car, I wanted to head over to Akaroa, a place I've only ever visited once before on my first trip to NZ back in '88. It was winter back then, and left an impression in me of being stunningly beautiful. What would it be like in Summer? The answer to that is simply "more stunning". From the moment you crest a hill to see the harbour laid out in front of you, to strolling around the charming townships themselves, I'm so glad I came here today. That feeling is helped with also managing to eliminate 1 of my last 3 remaining NZ Jasmer Grid dates. So having done that, I came back into the township of Akaroa to have a wander around, grab some lunch, and a few casual caches such as this one.It was a nice shady walk up to the cemetery to find this cache. The cache itself was a quick find, but I was a little disappointed to find such a makeshift container. These do not keep water out well and as such the log was damp. But I managed to add my name to it before replacing the whole lot back as found. Thanks for setting this one up.
Nous sommes arrivs de France il y a un mois. Il sera bientt l'heure de repartir... mme si nous nous serions bien installs Akaroa.Tftc

Didn't there used to be another cache about here? After having a gin tasting and lovely vodka cocktail at the new distillery in the town came up here for a quick find.
Cut across from Stanley Park to find this cache. A lovely walk. A quick find and a pause to reflect on the history. TFTC
Another tug up the hill. They liked their cemeteries high up the hills didnt they . Great thanks for bringing us here.
Een mooie rondrit gemaakt in de omgeving van Aokara met de vele mooie baaien. TFTC. Greetings from the Netherlands.
A lovely day for a drive to Akaroa, the sun was shining and the tide was high. The township was very quiet and parking was easy. A quick find in a peaceful spot. TFTC
