First evening of a weekend in the Wairarapa and our 3rd cache in Martinborough. Out for an evening stroll whilst staying at the nearby Claremont Motel (highly recommended). Quite a lot of passing traffic made this one tricky to be stealthy but found after a few interuptions. TFTC.

A nice quick find. Plenty of hedges around here! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are heading North again to visit family. Today we cruised around the Wairarapa, collecting some apples and swifty's. We had a great day, a little showery at times, but pretty good.Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.

This was my first visit to this part of Martinborough. And what a interesting looking area it is.The cache was quickly tracked down and it was pleasing to see it was a good size to place the EarthCache Fossil Tag trackable that began its journey in China and which I found in the Wairarapa.

TwigNZ and I are in Wairarapa collecting some newish caches. Stopped here for a nice easy find. This might be a winery town (not a grapery town - no one makes them for eating!), but by the time we left I had a huge pile of foraged plums and a really huge pile of pears from a local pearery. That was Sunday. Today is Tuesday and already I have lots of preserved plums and plum jam and have started of preserving the pears. Yeah, good trip this was!

The last few months have been quite hectic for me in geocaching terms, mostly because of my desire to try to qualify for GC30AD8 DGSc Challenge in super-quick time. But March is traditionally a quieter month for me, and I have decided to take the foot off the pedal a little for fear of burning out or getting to the point where I'm not actually enjoying the caching.Having said that, I still have my old personal goal of finding 50 caches for the month, and don't want to get to the point of having to rush around like a mad thing at the end of the month. So I decided that today I would take a leisurely saunter over the Rimutaka Hill to go caching in Martinborough, which has seen a few new caches released since I was last over this way. Having just arrived back yesterday from a big trip to Australia, my flatmate the Seagnoid joined me as two pairs of eyes are always better than one right? What an interesting road! Pulling into it felt like I was going into a Winery itself. There was a bit of room to pull over just enough to allow any other traffic to pass (which didn't happen anyway) and then we were at GZ. The cache itself was a quick and easy find, which was what I was hoping for. All is fine with this cache, and it was replaced as found. Thanks for this new cache.

Out and about with Flowerydaze and trying to complete the Nifty Swifty series. The trip over the hill from Kapiti is a long way to come for a small amount of caches so we covered as many as we could in the time available. TFTC BigSteveOK

An overnight trip to the Wairarapa for the Martinborough Fair means an opportunity for geocaching and hopefully finishing off the Nifty Swifty series. This was a stop on the way.A quick find after walking back from the car. The other end may have to wait for another time (i.e. 5am it's not really the best time for hunting that cache - gravel is so much louder!)All good here and TFTC.Find #6495 at 2 March 2024 5:25 am

28-Dec-23
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind on my target. As I leave home on a road trip to Hawkes Bay to see a band play, and then return to Wellington to see the same band play again for New Years Eve, I have only 108 left to find to meet my target. I have a list of caches to look for, and this was one of them. Cache was found safe and well. --- Thanks to BigSteveOK for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues. [DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge

#13,615. Joint 2TF. I was over in the Wairarapa today with Infoferret and taybee NZ on a mission to pick up a few new caches in the area and also a few archived skindo caches for the other two. We stopped for a lunch break in Martinborough then headed south to find this cache. Found after a short search. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thanks BigSteveOK for hiding it here. Might have signed it 29 Oct as the folk in the car called out the wrong date!

#14,225. {FTF} at 09:45. Park, walk and grab on Burgundy Drive in Martinborough. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. Good hide. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Except that the pen was too long for the container. With the pen sticking out, the container was therefore not able to be closed properly. We decided to swap the pen for a shorter pencil that fitted better for the size of the container. Took nothing else, left nothing else, signed log. Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.
