Logs
Been waiting to do this one with the kids, heaps of fun, thanks for an amazingly clever fun cache
Decided to take the dog for a quick walk this has been on my radar for some time. After tooing and frowing and getting nips from the mozzies I need a hint and did a paf. Ah ha! Why did I not look there?! I made the rookie mistake with retrieving the container and lost all of my water so had to obtain extra supplies nearby to get it moving again! Tftc
I was walking around in circles at first because I couldnt find what I had as my preconceived idea on the look of the cache. After reading a few recent logs I went ok, now time to look for something different. I walked the line checking and eventually found success. I thought the drainage was going to be natural but then noticed the spout which wasnt difficult to stop. With the cache in-hand it was a little difficult extracting the log and I had to resort to one of my TOTTs. I signed the log and then replaced everything as found. TFTC
It was a late decision to stop at this geocache, leaving Moggill Road and parking on Aragon Street. Construction across the road had the tradies park their vehicles about, and it looks like they've torn the nearby dirt track up from when there was rain earlier in the week.I searched around for a good 10 minutes before PAF-ing. Sure enough, it was an idea that I had but upon first pass, it didnt seem promising. However armed with that information, I focused and quickly found what next needed to be done. I often travel with excess glug glug glug just in case of field puzzles like this (and it provides good backup drinking water), so with that added, the container popped out, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks CacheyCam for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A unique hide utilising the existing infrastructure!----------Today, I headed west to Brookfield and Pullendale area and targeted the *axe and pick* geoart series that were accessible from the road (or short walks).I started in Kenmore and Kenmore Hills, and then ventured north to Brookfield where I walked/jogged some of the trails in Gold Creek Reserve. It was then time to pick up the *axe and pick* geoart series in Upper Brookfield and Pullendale, and then another enjoyable walk in Moggill Conservation Park. My remaining time was then utilised to visit Bellbowrie and Moggill for a few last geocaches. A terrific winter blue sky day!
I was needing a trad for a challenge today, and as I was out this way on my Wednesday morning Meals on Wheels delivery route, I thought Id make a quick stop midway on my drive. There were tradies parked at the suggested park, so I parked further up. It was pouring with rain, so the longer I was out of the car, the wetter I was getting. I have previously found this type of cache, so I thought I knew what I was looking for. My coordinates were bouncing due to the weather and had me in the lasiandra, so I pushed through them, getting soaked. Also getting cold and knowing that I still had quite a few more deliveries to do, I gave up.Once home, I contacted a previous finder who gave me a hint on where to find it. Oh, thats a bit easier and a little different from my previous find of this type. So back this afternoon where I quickly found the hide using not as much water as I had with me to retrieve the cache. It is certainly manageable by one person. As I was about to sign, someone walked past - he must have wondered what I was doing. It was still raining, though not so hard, so the logbook got a little damp while signing. My coordinates were bouncing around from 5-15m at gz. Great to have found another local cache. Tftc
T-Tech and I headed out for a couple of hours this afternoon to grab a couple of caches. We made sure to be well prepared for this one with 4 litres. It sure took a while to locate GZ, but it eventually showed up. With 2 of us on hand, retrieval was easily achieved. TFTC, CacheyCam.
Out with IolantheK to collect a couple of caches Took us a while to find the cache, but experience payed off and IolantheK discovered the hide Now for the extraction It worked out well having both of us there it made the extraction so much easier.TFTC CacheyCam A fav point from me
I only needed half as much TOTT as TT reported. I guess a lack of TOTT in the atmosphere helps to identify leaks. So I drank the excess as a reward for the ride from Toowong. Thanks for the cache CacheyCam
What to do with a kid who has recovered from their illness but is still coughing and is not allowed to go back to school? Who is full of energy and is bouncing around the house that he has been stuck inside for the last week? Take him geocaching of course! We headed over to Logan as there are still lots of great park caches there that we havent found yet. And of course just as we arrive the notification comes through of a new cache close to home. We decided that having driven all that way we would find a couple and then if it hadnt been found we would go for the FTF on the way home. So after 3 other caches we headed back and as we drove down came the rain. It was a tiny dark patch on the radar that followed us westwards. We had no umbrellas in the car but I figured we could just wait when we arrived for the rain to ease because no one else was going to be looking for the cache in this weather. But when we arrived there was a figure wandering around with an umbrella and 2 bottles of water and I knew straight away it had to be TeamTinda. So we grabbed our water bottles, jumped out of the car and joined him. After some very quick and wet hellos we got on with the task of searching. Eventually GeoM found the thing we were looking for and we started splashing water around. TTs experience with similar caches meant we quickly had a logbook to sign and GeoM was pretty chuffed to get an FTF prize! TT then double checked the mechanisms capacity after he forgot to put the pencil back. Isnt that always the way when you are standing in the pouring rain? Thanks for the great cache CacheyCam! There was no shortage of water here today. It was pouring out of the sky, gushing down the creek and being tossed around by all of us. Thanks for the wet fun!
A new cache 2.5km from home! In a park where I once used to own a cache! But Im a long way away at a conference But the conference finished early! But its raining really hard all of a sudden and traffic is slow. But now it stopped raining and Ive arrived! But I dont have any water But I can buy 2.2L of soda water from the nearby bottle shop and carry it over! But then it started raining heavily again and I couldnt see the cache. But then GeoM93 and BrissyCat turned up and they looked somewhere Id thought of but hadnt bothered to touch. Great work! We started with their water and were just able to make a fingertip grab, all under the cover of my small umbrella. After signing up, we replaced it, only for me to realise I was still holding the pencils. Doh!So we did it again, using my soda water. We needed about 1.5L to grab the cache. The trick is to pour it in boldly and be ready to grab the container as soon as possible. Its pretty tricky to do it solo. Not sure if there was a hole we should have blocked as well (it was raining so hard to tell.)Anyway, we got there, defying very challenging conditions. I would definitely recommend putting the log book into a separate plastic bag inside to protect it. Congratulations to my fellow *FTF*ers and congrats also to the CO on your first hide.
I saw this one pop up less than 1km from me but I was stuck at work. The title gave me a clue on what I might hear and I knew what I needed to bring with me.i needed more more than I took. Hmmmm puddles came in very handy. Very quick find and easy retrieval when I held my fingers in the correct spot. TFTC. Congrats Teamtinda and Bissycat, you beat me by mere minutes!
