A lovely tribute to Frank, though we are only visiting the shore so we never knew or have heard of him. A lovely container for this cache. Fp for that. Tftc, and rip to frank.
A quick spot on what was quite a busy road this evening. Grabbed the cache and moved nearby to log the find, before replacing once the traffic calmed down. TFTC
#983Shell we get some lunch now? I asked Desperate_Tenacious after we signed the log. This is a great cache, to be perfectly Frank. I did think the cache was a little different and I'm glad I read the description when I got home.
Great tribute and in an original container, favourite point from us for this. TFTC
What a g8 tribute G2. I remember this fellow back from my early days in the 80's trying to find golf balls at Pupuke golf club to sell at $1.00 each . I always went to the bush and never the pond on the 18th. untill one day a mate suggested we went in. I had never met the bloke but heard stories about him IE Frank. Didn't realise what had caused his mannerisms till this cache was published. He was in the lake with his trustee big pole and bag at the side working his feet to find the golf balls slicing bits of copper wire as he worked. And this is a true story - As I trepodily entered the water hazard around the edge he said your got to get your balls wet to find some balls lol. Again nice tribute to someone who had various opions about him but a very harmless fellow as I remember as a kid.
**22,126**A nice quick find of this interestingly camod cache container. Took longer to wait out the lady with three little doggies, tangling her up in their leashes! TFTC
Turns out when Mr KBclan used to live on the shore he remembers this man. Miss 5 really liked the container admiring it as a treasure. Thank you for sharing the story. We didn't see Alex. TFTC
Another early morning walk and the sun is rising earlier each day. A little bit of a detour from my usual loop but figured it was still early enough that there wouldn't be too busy. A nice quick find here and well concealed from the road.
Beautiful cache in tribute to a great man , thank you G-2 for sharing his story and dedicating this cache to him
M26: interesting cache container, and a interesting story, nice and easy find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.
Out and about today with Pyphant and 2/3 of Greenkiwikids. On our mission to help a bunch of aliens fuel up their spaceship for the Cosmic Quest, we came along this cache. What a nice tribute to Frank. I guess in every community there is a guy like Frank, in the town I grew up in, it was a guy named Raul. Everbody knew him, cruising the town on his tricycle, collecting bottles with refundable deposit from the trash. That was in an industrial coal miners township, the scenery not nearly as beautiful and enjoyable as the North Shore, though.Quickly spotted on approaching. Nice hide, nice camo. Thanks for hiding and maintaining. Tftc
As is usual with Team SEAC caching expeditions, a loose plan was made to walk the new treetop walkway and grab a few caches in the area, seeing how the day takes us. Today we had NurseDr, Keylev, LiverKiwi, Laval., and a few international students who have now learnt what geocaching is all about. At this point the majority of the group headed off to find ice cream, and NurseDr continued on finding a few more caches. Thanks for another cache
Nice and easy find. Great to read about Frank - would often see him while working in Milford. An interesting find. All good here.
Out with himself and geo dog on a blustery winters morning for some light caching. TFTC. Nice camo.
It's a long weekend so I came down to Auckland from the Far North for a few days geocaching. Friday I cached in Albany picking up lots of new TWS caches. Yesterday I headed down to Huntly collecting mostly AdLabs. Living where I do getting some higher numbers is a bit tricky so it was good to achieve that. Today I was after an ftf for my dot day calendar and wanted to finish off this area. It was market day in Takapuna so I ended up getting one of the last parks in Alison Ave. I walked ip to this one first. Nice to make this special cache to tribute to Frank. Thanks for this cache
Sad to hear about Frank. Kiwi had met him a few times over the years particularly when Kiwi was a teenager around Pupuke Golf Course. Frank use to wade through the pond on the 18th hole fishing out balls. Unortunately some of the youth's of that day use to give him a hard time. Hopefully they regret their behavior now. Nice to have this little tribute to him. TFTC
A nice quick find of a well camouflaged cache - havent seen one like this before. We looked out for Alex, but there was no sign of him today. TFTC
We enjoyed this one , though Di was a bit distracted . Took a quick pic Many thanks
I was busy being messaged about one of my caches so was distracted, meanwhile TWS made the find before I had even read the hint. Great container here
At the time I was a bit confused by the wacky container, but having now read the description it makes more sense. This seems like a fitting tribute and was a nice easy find as well. Thanks!(#2207)
1274 for the tribeG'day from across the ditch! The tribe are on a caching adventure in Auckland for a few days targetting our DT grid, some very old caches and some very favourited caches, and of course enjoying the amazing natural beauty ofNew Zealand The quality of the caches in this neck of the woods really is something special. Some amazing camouflage and some real time and effort has gone into many of the hides we found today. Also stunningly beautiful coastline here with some amazing lava formations.A big thank you to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and for bringing the tribe here. We had the best day.
In the area, so I am doing some Glyn caches. Was very moved by this story...What a legend .Thanks, Glyn, for sharing the Life of Frank with us all.Favourite Point .Loved the way you used one of his decorated containers .Very Special indeed.Definitely a Favourite Point
After finding a couple of other caches nearby this evening, I may have stalled a little before finding this so that the date ticks over and I can continue my streak while having a relaxing evening at home tomorrow... A wonderful hide here, can't say I've seen one like this before. Nice and easy to find, FP added for the construction. TFTC!
This one we walked straight up to for an instant find. Great g-2 Camo here, worth a fav.Thank you G-2 for placing this cache.Log signed as B&PFind number 5144
Loved the history behind this cache. I looked across the road to see the house & ive always liked that building. Loved the cache container too. Defo favourite [TFTC]??
After a kayaking trip with glenogilvie I was asking him what to do next and he suggested coming to Takapuna as he had a DNF and wanted to see if I help. The new caches in the area seemed like a good incentive to head that way and help. After parking up, we were not far from this cache, so of course we had to stop and grab it. We managed to find it quickly. A really lovely story and a beautiful cache. Thanks for the cache #1676
Found a few caches today in G-2 Land. This is definitely my favourite. Beautiful story and the cache is a real taonga. Love hearing about the local history. More please! TYVMFTC!
GZ had so many possibilities, it took longer than expected to find this awesome cache! FP and photo attached. TFTC
Walked up to the tree. I always dread the "head height" caches because I usually have to shove my hand somewhere I can't see. Tonight I could see something that didn't look very pleasant but there was a handy stick I could poke it with. A cache. Unwrapped it but couldn't get the end open in fact broke my best pen trying. Had to run to the car to use my keys and even then I almost broke them trying to get the end open. Then sneaked back in under the cover of darkness and shoved the cache back where it came from.
Out with Team Welsh enjoying another Sunday morning caching adventure. The container is a very fitting tribute to Frank. Thanks for placing it and for the interesting cache page description.
Sure I remember another cache here. Mr and Mrs kc were there by the time I arrived and this cache can only be described as pretty. Thanks
After our exciting morning of FTFs we headed back this way to get to this newish cache. I always get a bit worried with hints that say head height as both of us are vertically challenged. However, I could just reach the cache and then admired its unusual camouflage. TFTC
After getting a couple of first to finds on a couple of other neighborhood hides I had returned home and completed a second round of chores and logged my finds. I then hit refresh on the app and noted a third publication in my local area. Out the door I went and I headed up lake road to Takapuna. I managed to get one of the parks opposite ground zero and soon got to searching. Took a few sweeps of ground zero, even with the aid of the hint, to come up with the goods. Well camoed. Another blank log sheet confirmed the third first to find (FTF) of the morning. Cheers for the cache placement!
