I had a DNF here a couple of weeks ago, even after a thorough search. After noticing somebody had found it easily 3 days later I came back today with GeohoundandI. We both searched the same places that previous finders had commented about, but came up empty handed again. She agreed with me that it appears that a lot of plants are missing and a few of the remaining ones have been trampled. So either we have both lost our caching ability, our phones are both miles out, or we are missing something obvious.
Out having a walk with the geohound and we arrived here. Like previous cachers I automatically thought it would be across the stream. I checked several small trees but the geohound was more interested in trying to chase pukekos so I gave up and we walked back to the car. Drove back, parked up and left him in his car seat. This time I had a more thorough search. There are a lot of holes where plants are obviously missing, and smaller holes that might have had plants in. Some of the remaining trees have been trampled.Anyway, after reading previous logs that said it was easy to spot I gave up. It might still be here or it might have been eaten by the pukes.
Last find for the afternoon before heading home. Nice to mop up these latest caches in this new subdivision. Tftc
This made me laugh. Walked up to the area and saw lots of big trees around. Some of them were across the stream and I was wondering if I had to find a new pathway over to them. The GPS had other ideas and took me away from those big trees. I laughed when I saw the tiny tree with the cache clearly hanging in it. Just goes to show you that your geocaching instinct isn't always right. Thanks for the hide
Out with SN finding the newish caches in Milldale. We soon spotted this cache on our approach to gz. TFTC
Out caching for the day with Jag50. Lovely weather....Mrs Jag spotted this first....Thanks!
**20,745**Last one for tonight/morning, needing a little shut-eye now, been up since 5am but a good start to our trip to Dorkland. A nice quick find here and then we met up with the Security guy who had been shadowing us. He was very nice, asked what we were doing, we explained we were geocaching, he nodded his head like he knew what it was but when asked if he had heard of it, he said No. Gave him a quick run down and then asked if were ok where we were for the night. He said said sure, so that was us. TFTC
Made our way through the rabbit warren to here and spied the entrance to this pathway which really doesn't go anywhere. Initially thought it meant the big tree across the water but fortunately it was much closer to hand. Another cache that will become harder once the greenery grows. TFTC
We made a plan with Team Welsh to pick up the recently published caches in and around Orewa this morning. Navigating to this one was done by guesswork and following our noses as the car GPS had no roads showing here. Once on the new path it took us a moment or two to work out what the hint refered to. Then the cache was a quick easy find. Thanks.
I had got a joint ftf with Hearo420 on a new cache at the beach and as I was already soaking wet I decided to brave the weather and come over for this cache as well. Gosh Milldale is a rabbit warren but Im starting to get to know my way around now so could navigate to this new part reasonably easily. It was interesting to see some workers clearing the drains of leaves nearby as I parked up close to the path. Not too many trees around here and what are here are pretty tiny so it was a nice quick find and a blank log for my 2nd {FTF} on a very wet Saturday morning. Time to head home for a hot drink and to dry off
