It was a quick find for me this afternoon. The cache is certainly a bit different from the standard set up.
Numerous reports showing of 'Lid Fallen Off'. It falls off because it wasn't made for the tube. There is a solution by using the lid's two lugs. Before pushing the tube back into the concrete tank, squeeze it so that the two lugs on the lid fit inside the tube, then release pressure on the tube and push it back into the tank. The lid is then held firmly in place and can't fall off. the GC owner was advised of this months ago but failed to take the recommended action of adding this solution to the description. Also several attributes are incorrect: 1) there is easy wheelchair access; 2) it is not on private land, permission is not required; 3) there's no food store nearby; 4) there's no drinking water nearby; 5) stealth is not required; 6) there is no scenic view.
A quick find here today. The cap from the front of the cache was lying on the ground and I was unable to re-attach it properly, I think something necessary may be missing. Signed log, TFTC
Making my way up to Wanganui today and as I had plenty of time to spare I thought I'd come down here and find this geocache, so I did.No problems locating it, and all was safe and well.---Thanks to jacoby_nz, FatOldDadMan for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
I was out and about this evening, as I was due to do some shopping and catch up with my son, so came a bit further to enable me to visit this cache which had been placed since the last time I was in Waitarere. All was quiet at GZ, and the find was certainly quick. The whole thing was rather spoiled by the fact that clearly the cache has been found by a muggle who wrote an offensive message in the log and then left the lid off the front of the cache.I don't think there is any further damage, but perhaps the CO needs to check that for themselves? Thanks for creating it.
On tour with the Seagnoid, heading up to TwigNZ's 'On your marks, get set, GO! 6' Event in Levinski. We deliberately left at sparrow fart to hit up Waitarere Beach and then be heading down for the rest of the day. This was a straightforward find, on Seagy's priority list. Boom!TFTC jacoby_nz
Maplerose and I have a plan - a set of caches to find while on the way to and home from Twig's Ready Set Go event in Levin. Didn't get to them all - some involved a long walk.We have found a few, but there is still plenty of time before the event, so we headed out to Waitererererere. Today is also a regular dot day too, so this cache is high on my list of must-do.Nice easy find at GZ - well, regulars nearly always are.Now just six dot days remaining. Next one is in March...
Wandered over to this one from the nearby park after the rain had stopped. A quick find - tftc
Cute and clever little hide. Took a while to extract the log sheet and replace. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for this clever cache at the low tide mark. Apologies jacoby_nz that I couldn't get the lid to stay on securely- is there catch or a knack to it? I have left it covering the cache but feel it could easily fall off. TNLNSL TFTC
First stop here and only a small diversion off the main drag. Soon alongside near the site of last years Watcache weekend centroid and an easy find ensued. Made the find, admired the blank log, and added my Monica. Reassembled the cache and it's inners and glad to grab it at Low Tide! {FTF}[FTF]*FTF* at 1018.I'm taking mrs c to Wellington airport today as she's heading overseas for a few weeks and I was happy to be the driver. Been pretty busy at work lately so a drive out in the Autumn sunshine was welcome. I noted a new listing had come out Waiterere Beach way and had hopes of a FTF, and that was the case, which was nice. A walk along the front by the airport yielded a few more treasures and a return via Paekakariki was also a winner with Kapiti Island sulking gloomily in the distance. Not huge numbers today but enough to keep the wolf from the door.
