**OKeefe Rail Trail (ORT)**Off we headed (micaparamedic, Sol de lune and myself) after attending this mornings event at the new botanic gardens at White Hills to grab a few caches along this trail. We used a different type of GPS for this one, Gary Positioning System as micaparamedic had found before and spotted it with his keen eyes. The quick find was appreciated as the rain was threatening to fall again. Thanks bigsnuffler and all the other COs for hiding, maintaining or replacing this cache for us to discover. Signed most logs as LTEC for brevity. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. Dream. Here for a wedding today and had some time to spare for a few Geo's Nice easy find TFTC
Finally stopped and turned my sad face into a happy face. A quick find now the cache had been replaced since my last time searching. TFTC
Out & about caching the area. Good time to stop & stretch our legs. Nice & quiet out here today. Cache found on ground & placed back as per description. TFTC
Found with my favs Bogonghazy and Geo dog. Thank Bigsnuffler for placing the geocache .
Found with LittleBoss2 and Geo the puppy trying to cross off a few of LB2's blank dates. This was an easy find, great coords help immensely, but it doesn't take away the cleverness of the hide. Thanks again BigSnuffler
The cache was in the second place we looked. We were dodging rain clouds this morning and honed in on a few caches on our walk. TFTC bigsnuffler. Found with Lazraa.
It has been a busy few weeks and I was away for a spot of camping in Bendigo this weekend. The trip had come to an end and with storms forecast in the afternoon, we had all packed up early and were heading home. The skies were blue and the sun was still shining so I made the most of the weather before I left and grabbed a few caches along the way.I had walked this whole rail trail some time ago and collected all the caches on it. Or so I thought. I noticed recently that new ones had appeared replacing some that had fallen into disrepair. Having filled in some of the gaps, I used the afternoon to complete those that remained. Some cool arches on the way to this one and a clever camo for this cache.A big thanks goes to bigsnuffler for taking the time to add ORT - Points to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
Trying to keep up with the Jones in the Cosmic Quest, while also trying to fill in calendar days. Found with Zinnia94 while enjoying the Great Victorian Geocaching Crawl. Many thanks bigsnuffler for providing this game piece for our enjoyment.Greetings from Tatura, Australia
Time to leave Bendigo after a mostly sunny weekend. Today is cloudy and cold and not really pleasant for walking along the ORT. This might be the only one of the newer caches we pick up this morning! SL at 10.30am #11.093 TFTC bigsnuffler
Another fun find with deanside and nana. This one had us walking between driving to get a little closer..... Found in the last place we looked which was not the first. Thanks to bigsnuffler and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! Apologies for generic log great wandering along this trailThanks bigsnuffler for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Decided to go for a run to get some caches that had popped up since I last rode the ORT. Thanks for the cache!
found today in the rain, alls good with the cache thanks for replacing it, it is safe and sound again tftc
I went and checked on this one and it is indeed missing, i will source a replacement over the next couple of weeks.
Looked around for a while before PAF who had previously found and confirmed it is no longer where it was originally. Needs maintenance
Out hunting with Tamzy we thought we would find this one for sure , but unfortunately after speaking with a fellow geocacher it was confirmed to be missing
Find No. 4740. Found with FUF009 at 2.12pmA Long Weekend and what an we do? That's easy - take a day trip to Bendigo with the bicycles on board to ride the O'Keefe Rail Trail and find caches along the way. FUF009 came with us.It was quite a few years ago that we done this and found the caches that were on the Trail back then. Today we found the newer ones that have been put out - 26 in total. We parked the van at the Wilkie Road parking area. First up we headed towards Axedale to find the 13 new ones, finding them as we went. Then it was back to the van for lunch - a total of 30.6ks.After lunch we rode towards Bendigo to find the other 13 new ones. Back to the van for a well earned cuppa - and another 16.2 ks ridden. All up a total of approx 47ks ridden. Most caches were quick and easy finds. Some took a bit longer than others. All up we had an enjoyable day as we managed to go bicycle riding, find caches and have a picnic in the bush area.TFTC bigsnuffler
Find # 14544Found with Tyred n Cranky Over in Bendigo to tackle the O'Keefe Rail Trail, by bike. Many many years ago we got most of the older caches. Today we targeted the newer caches that have replaced the old ones and a few others around.Parked up at Wilkie Rd parking area and headed to Axedale first collecting 13 finds. Back to the van for lunch then ride into Bendigo for the 2nd half of the caches, for another 13 finds. We managed, just over, 45ks riding and happily we found all we had on our list. Some were a little tricky to find than others but with 3 people on the hunt it made it that much quicker. TFTC bigsnuffler
This trail, or as much of it as we could accomplish, was the target for today. We had a great time and found all that we looked for. Hope to make a follow up trip in the not too distant future. Thanks for keeping the old trail going and filling in the gaps. Lovely trail to walk, ride, scoot etc. Thank you for bringing it back to life for geocachers.
Time to get away for the weekend, so a weekend trip to Bendigo (& St Arnaud) was organised with Geoturtle37.Today with the geo-scooters all powered up, we targetted the ORT & PPPT trails. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, bigsnuffler ~~
Whilst attending 2 events here in Bendigo, dalerious, Cybergran V and I decided to undertake just a snippet of the ORT caches. We will look forward to bringing the bikes and completing the entire series one day soon. So good of you bigsnuffler for repairing the holes of the original PPPT series which I cut my teeth on back in 2019.Happened to run into 999Hunter and 999Huntress signing a few of this series as well .
Found with catnap777 and Cybergran V. With a few moments to spare before the CITO and the following Monthly Meet Up event, we made time for a gentle stroll through the tunnel and up the path to claim this smiley too. I was the lucky one to make the find that jumped out at me. It was a combined effort to guess how to put it back. [B)]TFTC and sorry to miss you at your event "BigSniffler". We look forward to catching up soon. [^]
Another new cache in Bendigo since my last visit, and not too far off the main road. A lovely morning for a walk under the picturesque bridge.Found with dalerious and catnap777 en route to the CITO event this morning. Thanks for the cache bigsnuffler.
Headed out on our bikes with 4yo for a ride along the ORT for Mothers Day.Mum was alone for this one. Boggy terrain, oh it could be so many places, are my coords playing up? About to give up, and aha! Ripper hide. We've seen stumpy tails, a few families of kangaroos, birds and heard lots of frogs - a beautiful day out, thanks for these fantastic hides. We're especially aware it could have become monotonous hiding them all, but each is individual and brings a slightly different challenge, which we're super grateful for.TFTC
Well it is that time again for Posums and GemmaSistema to catch up for another fun filled day of caching, laughs, to much walking and to also lets see on where the Geowagon can get us into where maybe it shouldnt go.We met up in Castlemaine and then I became the driver and Gemma the navigator to what we were going to find today. And today was another tour of Bendigo which is a place I really enjoy coming up to.In total 40 caches were found today in a very wide area of Bendigo and the suburbs and a few different types as well.Time to hit part of the rail trail but only on foot.It looks like that the are doing this area up a bit. Thanks bigsnuffler TFTC.
Found on a caching run in Bendigo with Posums. Thanks for the fun and adventure. Nicely done here
We have set off on our annual winter escape but with no real plans other than a set of ideas. Our first stop is Bendigo, a place we haven't visited for any length of time in the past. There appears to be much to see and a good variety of caches to keep us entertained. We met up with our caching buddies Rebel Acts and Omegaman for a few days as well which added to the laughs and fun.Somewhat sadly, today was the day we all had to head home, us for an appointment but we will soon be back.Caches logged as RASPOM or SKI Pair if they had already found them. This is one of the caches we have found to date.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache bigsnuffler.**SKI Pair****
Out and about with omegaman and ski pair around the Bendigo and Echuca area, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. This is one of the caches found today.Logs signed as RASPOMThanks bigsnuffler for the cache.
I'm hitting the road again with my Rebel Acts and Ski Pair to have some fun and explore new places. While I don't mind caching locally, there is nothing like a road trip for a few days putting smiles on the map. I had a great time with lots of laughter and caching fun. Today's logs are signed as RASPOM.
[FTF] We decided to walk to this cache along part of the ORT we had not been on before. This took us over a section of road that had what looked like an old steam train boiler in use, under the road, in the creek, running alongside the trail. We have never seen this before. Once again accurate coordinates had us at GZ and the cache quickly. We signed the crisp new log and returned everything as found. Thank you bigsnuffler for this placement and caching experience.
