After last nights thunderstorm, the weather forecast looked good today so I decided to head out for a hike around Cascades Kauri Park, doing a clockwise loop from the carpark, an area that I've always enjoying walking. I initially overshot this one, so had to walk back a little bit to take a look for the cache, which was soon found at GZ. TFTC!

After reading the hint that the cache was under a stump (actually it says strump but we knew what you meant) but also at shoulder height we were intrigued. Did this mean we would be on the ground by the time we got here? When we got to GZ it all became clear and lumin298 spotted the cache quickly.

MrsJAG joined up with fellow geomates Tramyard, Rusty,Lumin and Flossieteacake on a wonderful Wednesday to find the caches in the Cascades. We signed the logs as JAVASS - made up from our real names!Lots of chatter and laughs as we enjoyed having the bush pretty much to ourselves today (being a weekday). Lucky MrsJAG had her proximity alert on loud else we might have walked past this one. With 5 sets of eyes we soon spotted this one and so glad we didnt have to step off the track to locate it. TFTC

Continue to love this walk, many years we have had to wait, and happily today is the day for adventure. Do not remember walking this when the tracks where open, appreciating all the work that has gone into making the tracks safe.Looking for birds, seen: Kereru, Tui, Piwakawaka, Paradise ducks, Pukeko, but also maybe some sort of geese, heard them, but not seen Big GrinAnother fun find, thanks KBclannz for the hide, to save on logging space we are using a team name JAVASS (each letter our real world initials - (rustynz, jag50, tramyard, flossieteacake and lumin298)

Caching the Cascade Kauri loop (clockwise) as part of a group of 5 cachers today, signing all the logs as JAVASS (an acronym of our first initials). This was the 10th cache we found today. We hadn't read the cache description, so decided to do the walk clockwise so that there would be a downhill part at the end. I think whichever way we went there would have been a fair few ups and downs though! I liked this series of caches especially the effort that was made to make them reachable from the track in line with the rules and to help keep all the beautiful trees safe. This one was a quick find, which was kind of a theme today - it's a lot faster when there are 5 of us searching! Thanks for the cache Smile(#2387)

Found it with a great company of flossieteacake , Jag50 ,lumin298 and rustynz on a beautiful Wednesday. As we decided to go on a week day we had a whole loop pretty much for ourselves.Beautiful area and many thanks for placing several hides to get an extra reason to visit this magnificent spot in Waitakeres which is Cascades Kauri Regional Park. Logbook signed asJAVASS.TFTC

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.I have been looking forward to finding these caches since they were placed and had heard good things about the loop track.Today was a perfect day for a morning adventure and I headed out early, parking in the Waitakere Dam carpark and walking down to the dam. After finding another new cache nearby I continued on to this one. What a great track. I wasn't sure what to expect and was ready for it to be a bit muddy but it was very dry and well formed making it a very pleasant walk as the sun was coming up, My phone was struggling a bit under tree cover so I ended up walking about 20 metres past GZ before I realised I had gone too far. I then retraced my steps and made a nice quick find. Thanks KBclannz for this nicely placed cache and this great new series.

Gorby has said it all, really! Was very keen to get these when I first heard about them ...but didn't rush for ftf...Decided to get a small group and do it one day when it suited us...As Gorby has said, we met up down near the bottom of the walk, and Jan left her car there. Then we got in my car and drove to the Waitakere Dam carpark on the Scenic Drive .We thought it was going to be all downhill, but there were a few inclines! Thanks heaps, KBclannz. Was an awesome day.Didn't take too much time before I found this!

Supernannny and Net61 and myself made a plan to be very sneaky! We had seen the C.O's new caches pop out and I for one had decided I didn't really want to come up from the Waitakerie golf course and head around clock-wise, just too hard for me these days, no-one is getting younger sadly. So the plan I had in mind turned out to be a ripper! I hadn't mentioned it to the others, but supernannny was also thinking the same thing,,,, because a few days later she then suggested why don't we do a one way walk, starting at the top at Scenic Dr, then walk down to the dam, pick up the new caches, and end up at the gold course carpark. So that's what we did with 2 cars. Got to GZ, we had lots to yak about, small talk galore. Initially we were worried here a bit, couldn't quite find the hint item, I was checking one place when Helen called out: Gorby, I've found it! Excellent I thought... don't want to log any DNF's around here, never know when or if I'll ever be back. So that was a good one, we're on our way. Thanks for the hide KBclannz.
