Logs
After last nights thunderstorm, the weather forecast looked good today so I decided to head out for a hike around Cascades Kauri Park, doing a clockwise loop from the carpark, an area that I've always enjoying walking. Back when this cache was published, I saw the title and knew the area it would be! Had a wait a few minutes before looking for this one, as a few people were hanging around reading the sign. Once they left, the cache was soon in hand. TFTC!
TFTC nice spot at the top we hope did this walk last weekend for a tramping course and funny enough we had lunch at this spot and I must have been sitting right on top of the cache eating my lunch!
It didn't take us long before we felt like we were out in the Wops Wops, especially when ours were the only cars in the carpark and the first person we saw was when we had got to the dam. A bit tricky getting the log out but somebody had a small enough finger to get it.
Found it with a great company of flossieteacake , Jag50 ,lumin298 and rustynz on a beautiful Wednesday. As we decided to go on a week day we had a whole loop pretty much for ourselves.Beautiful area and many thanks for placing several hides to get an extra reason to visit this magnificent spot in Waitakeres which is Cascades Kauri Regional Park. Logbook signed asJAVASS.TFTC
Caching the Cascade Kauri loop (clockwise) as part of a group of 5 cachers today, signing all the logs as JAVASS (an acronym of our first initials). This was the 13th cache we found today. It definitely felt like we were out in the wop wops which was really cool - and made me really grateful for the caching friends I was with today, since without other people I wouldn't be able to get out to cool places like this! We were doing the whole Cascade Kauri loop which upped the terrain for this one a little bit. Another nice quick find here, which left us with time to eat some sandwiches and rest a while before we kept going. Thanks for the cache (#2390)
This was our lunch stop, it was only later we found at the cache GCATXPX a large picnic table, but then that was still a distance away, and when you are hungry, you are hungry Not sure where the tracks goes to on the left, but hopeful it is a sign that more areas might be opening?Yes it does feel like you are out in the wops! no sounds of the city. We have had 2 muggles so far pass us, to coming on a week day is a brilliant decision. No problems with parking, and freedom to just chill!Another fun find, thanks supernannny, to save on logging space we are using a team name JAVASS (each letter our real world initials - rustynz, jag50, tramyard, flossieteacake and lumin298) (Joking avatars visiting amusing Saturn's satellites)
MrsJAG joined up with fellow geomates Tramyard, Rusty,Lumin and Flossieteacake on a wonderful Wednesday to find the caches in the Cascades. We signed the logs as JAVASS - made up from our real names! It was really nice to be back in this bush with all the lovely BIG Kauri trees and native birdsong. T really did feel like we were in the Wop Wops! The team made a quick find of the cache here. It took us longer to extract the - Lucky someone had small fingers and were able to extract the log. Thanks for hiding this cache and bringing us back to this beautiful place SN
A solo excursion for Mr Coblet. After a really enjoyable walk along this beautiful track with the added bonus of a couple of FTFs along the way I was hoping to get a third. This one was probably the hardest of the three, not so much because of where it was placed but because my phone was struggling to cope under the tree cover and initially led me to slightly the wrong place, but once it sorted itself out I spotted a likely hiding place. But then I heard voices and a couple of runners appeared, the first people I had seen today.I said good morning and waited for them to pass before looking for the cache, feeling pleased that they hadn't appeared slightly later and caught me searching. Once the coast was clear I soon found the cache and was pleased to find a blank log and claim the First to Find. This trail is even better than I expected and will be a great place to come back to in the future with Mrs Coblet. Thanks Supernanny for placing this cache in such a beautiful place.{FTF} 8am
I had an excellent day out with the girls i.e supernannny and net61. A one way walk was planned from Scenic Dr down to the dam, around Fenceline trk, past this cache towards the Waitakerie golf course via Kauri trk, which ended up taking close to 5 hours! We placed 3 caches as well, including this one. We weren't initially going to place anything, but how could we not! The C.O had to restrain herself...lol. This is a good spot here too, the sign here looks like it's been here many years! This was also a good spot to have another rest, thanks supernannny for the hide, it was a fantastic day!!
