Logs
What a gorgeous day, wandering in circles with icecream, a sibling and no clue what we're doing.
Strolled around my old neighbourhood on my birthday and treated myself to a few geo-treasures. This one took me a while, but once I understood the true meaning of the hint, it was easy-peasy.
TFTC! Nice hide, toon us awhile until we spotted it. No pen so picture attached.
My Daughter has gone to a birthday at the Karori pool so I decided to go for a wander around and pick up some Karori caches.I used the hint and found th2 cache within a few minutes. Great spot for a cacheTFTC
Finally!I'm currently a 'one armed bandit' (fell off my bike, and arm in a cast), so somewhat limited in the caches I can attempt for the next month. This was one I had searched for previously, but this morning I had plenty of time to give it another attempt.Worked my way from the outside, in, focusing on the blue without success. Cursed, then messaged a previous finder, who clarified a minor point. I then worked my way from the inside out, and had success with the help of the additional information, which I had misinterpreted. Finally spotted the cache, but had a lot of trouble extracting the logbook, as I currently have no grip with my right hand. Eventually able to sign and return. And yes , kids do use this area, a couple of littlies were heading in as I made my way out of the area. TFTCFor the record, my phone GPS wandered all over the place here, and I eventually found the container about half way between the original and revised coordinates.
On feet & buses today. Lol, cool spot for a cache! I quickly spotted what could be the hint, though it was over the fence from my current path. A brief relocation later and the cache was indeed there. Congrats on your first hide xiim3
Definitely a bit more involved than the park and grab I was expecting. I'm thankful for my height to make it a little easier. But I found it in the end with a big nudge from the hint. Though the container was sitting in the middle of the path. I signed the log, tidied it all up and put in a place I think is suitable for the next person. Thanks!
Strangely enough, while previous finders either had trouble finding this or didn't like hunting in a playground, I actually enjoyed it. The maze isn't really a playground, and with enough other people around on a nice Saturday afternoon I didn't look much out of place. Upon entering the maze, my phone said I was just a few metres away, so I looked in a slightly out-of-the way spot, glimpsed the subtle hint object, then found the container nestled at the base - a very quick find. I signed the log (after a trip back to the car to get a pen) then completed the maze - it's a real advantage to be adult height and able to see over the fences. Thanks for showing me this location!
Back in town for a quick visit, picking up a couple of newer caches. Found after a short search. Cheers
Been searching for 50 odd minutes no luck at all. Do not like that it's on childrens play equipment.
Joint [FTF] w/ huhugrub @ 1940.We got here early and started looking all around the GZ for 30 mins then huhugrub showed up and we started looking together. We logged our DNFs at about the 50min mark and then decided to have one more look around. On this look around I went into one of the areas that I hadn't been in before and there it was. I was annoyed as the coords and cache size (The cache is a micro and definitely not a small) were inaccurate leading to alot of false searches. As we were signing I averaged a set a coords at GZ (S41 17.2657 E174 44.3540) which will hopefully help finders to follow, that is if the cache survives. I personally do not like the placement location at all especially with some trees that can hide a cache so close nearby. I think caches should not be placed on children's play equipment at all as it is very uncomfortable especially if parents and children were around.
**taybee** is caching again with **taybee nz** for the dayJoint [FTF] w / huhugrubthis is definitely not a small its a micro size see **taybee nz** for new cords All in good order, sign log book as **taybee (** *joint sign* **TB's** or **taybee / nz )** Cache was found at **03/09/2024 @ 19:40:37**
I noticed this cache published last evening, the closest unfound one to home. Noted also the difficulties experienced by the FTFers (aka beta testers!) and decided that it would be good to go for a walk and score this today while it is still around. I arrived in the early afternoon when most kids would be having lunch and it was a cold day so there was not a soul around to disturb my searching. I used taybee_nz's recommended coordinates and managed to find the cache after about 20 minutes' search (there's rather a lot of places to check!), however the original listed coordinates were perfectly accurate for me with only a metre or so error on my Garmin GPSr whereas the modified coordinates were about 5 metres out. I think the cache needs a method of securing it more firmly, it was lying on the ground at its hiding-spot when I found it although it was reasonably obvious where it should have been. So unless the CO wants to be replacing it quite often, I'd recommend giving a bit more thought to how it is hidden. Signed log, thanks for the cache and congratulations on your first cache placement
Not able to find. Possibly missing already. Also don't like that it's on play equipment.
#15,418. Joint {FTF} at 19:40 with taybee and taybee nz, and first day find. Parked for a short walk off Campbell Street in Karori, Wellington. Met up with taybee and taybee nz, who had already spent some time searching. So joined in the search. The GZ was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Not finding the cache after some extensive searching. At one point, we found a potential hidey hole where a small sized cache could have been placed. But that was not to be. We thought the cache might have already gone missing, and logged our DNF. We made one last round looking at other possibilities, and then success taybee nz finally got to the right spot and found it. The well camouflaged cache, which was more a micro than a small, was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On **May 3rd, 2025**, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event.
