Drove by the access road the first time as the gate was up. Read comments and saw that wasnt stopping others so we went through the gateThere were actually three gates and a sinkhole developing on the road to contend with. Stopped the Ute before the third gate and went the last half K by foot. Good thing, that, there is a tree down on the steeper part of the path, and no room to turn around a vehicle. Got to the site after dusk and it was raining. Looked for the cache for 20 min by light from the cell-phones. No luck. A fun adventure, though.

Im thinking about crayfish today, not to eat, but the caches that make up the geo art of a crayfish !!So thats what Im going to do, but first I thought Id go after this old one. Id been advised by hevwalker that it may be missing so I took a replacement with me. I arrived at GZ on foot and begun my search. I found a number of good hiding places but after 45 mins of searching here, there and everywhere, up and down, I wasnt able to find it, so I hid the replacement with a new log book in it.TFTC Slider & SmurfKeep smiling

Well, this was an interesting drive! We are Holidaying in Robe and decided to find a cache off the beaten track.

Out of interest, we drove onto the bridge to have a look and were surprised at the number and size of the fish!

Onto the cache. We got through the fence without drama, as it was pulled across open. It looked like an odd entrance, almost like it was private property, but given the number of previous finders we continued on.

An interesting drive along the waterway. The final 200m was a bit hairy. Not quite one of those super scary South American mountain roads, but still close enough to the edge to create some anxiety!

I typed in two digits round the wrong way into my gps, so spent a long time looking around a bunch of big rocks. The only thing we found was a spent light globe (?) and a big blue tongue lizard.

I was prepared to log a DNF, so off to the car with some disappointment. Funny enough, spotted it on the way back. Spirits boosted. We parked on the northern track. We recommend parking on the south side of the final loop track and walking around to the waterway side.

Driving back and at the first fence, strangely it was pulled across and closed. Thankfully, it was not locked and we were able to exit without problem. Pulled the fence across again. We wonder who did this?

TFTC - certainly an adventure.

Scary road and very hard for long D-max to do U-turn ... will not recommend to come this way in wet season or Rainy Day. BESIDE that Beautiful View .

After a few false starts, a wombat crossing, a few u-turns and miss 9 navigating we found this one with trepidation as there was a cow on the road, an old gate and needing all of the agility we could muster. Love where geocaching takes us. Thankyou.

Well this cache was on my list to find before we left home (Vic) due to date placed. Enroute to here we went past the SA Spring Water Barramundi Grow-out Farm. Something I was surprised to see. We were next surprised to see the "road " this cache was on. Luckily for us it has been dry so we had no trouble negotiating this track. We turned off Boomaroo Park Rd into what the GPS said was a road - we thought we were driving up someone's drive! As is the law of farming - you leave gates as you found them - we only had to open and close one gate. We finally arrived at GZ and then Bunadoorian found the cache. There was water in the cutting which was good to see. Now what to do - we continued to drive forwards and found a spot to do 3 point turn. Now to head off to Robe for morning tea and to go and visit Transmutation before heading off to Berri. TFTC and for bringing us here Slider & Smurf and Richary for adopting this cache and keeping it in play for all of us to find. A favourite from me for the adventure.

Luckily we read a previous log and discovered the southern access track on the Eastern end. Found as we drove along the track astounded at the amount of work required to construct the drain. Thanks for placing a cache here as we love hides like this, taking us to interesting places we would have otherwise never found if it wasn’t for Geocaching. A fav point from me.On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC Slider & Smurf

The great Geoventure 2020 tour....take 2...which is of course now in 2021 Surprised Once again it myself and AnyMules doing things that not many sane people would attempt. [:o)]

Day 11: The weather today was fantastic, so we headed north all the way to Kingston SE in search of unfound boxes. Cool Some rather fantastic locations and caches found today Big Grin
* If anything was particularly interesting then there will be a comment

Here.. Wow, what a fantastic drive too and away from the cache. Smile A quick find once there. Smile FP for the location Razz[:X][:X]

otherwise we found all the caches we looked for and they were in good condition.

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks Slider & Smurf for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

detoured for this old one today. Glad with the recent rains i was in my 4x4, since if we in mogni's car we would have turned around. Found the cliplock container at gz. Added a screw top container and put cliplock container inside to keep this one alive longer and restore it to the listed cache size.
On route to the 2021 Mega at Millicent with Mogni. A run of bad weather before the mega meant a last minute change of vechicles for us. Instead of Mogni's car we took the 4x4 down to the mega. This also meant a change in the target caches on route. Now we detoured off roads to get those caches that where on sandy tracks, high clearance or in locations mogni would prefer her car not to go, less finds and highway drive bys was the result. We got down to where we staying the night with out getting rained on to badly.

Last cache for the day after a holiday in Robe with The Welder and our minis. It’s been a great day sand driving and wine tasting. Now before we head back to camp for dinner.. we want to collect this cache for the Ausmer date. A nice adventure on the goat track and a straightforward drive to gz after opening a sheep gate. A really pretty area with a variety of vegetation. Thanks for the cache.

After four days in the southeast and Coorong earlier in the week, I returned with FeatherWaite for an extended weekend of caching in the area.

We traveled down the Coorong through Kingston and across to Millicent, then cached around Millicent and attended the events. On the second day we toured around Tantanoola before making our way up to Naracoorte for the evening.

We camped out near Millicent on the first night and at Cockatoo Lake, north of Narracoorte on the second.

On the final day we headed up to Mundulla, Bordertown and Keith, then through Ngarkat to Lameroo before heading for home.

Thanks Slider & Smurf (adopted by Richary) for the cache.

That time between Christmas and New Year when you don’t know what day it is and it doesn’t really matter as you don’t actually need to know....

We found this cache on our way to, from or while staying in Robe.
An absolutely beautiful part of the world!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the CO’s who have supplied us with a cache to find, we appreciate the effort you have gone to.
Sorry for the generic log but time has taught us we rarely find the time to come back and write more detailed logs. Sorry!

We were a bit young to remember this project being completed, but no doubt, there would have been lots of celebrations in the south-east at the time Big Grin.
Came in along the western headland of the Woakwine CP and made our exit through the gate to the east [8]. Our map has this place marked as the Drain L Lookout Cool.
Took awhile to find Red Face. TNLNSL.

YAAY!!!!! at last found this one. Hevwalker and I were determined to get this one today, her to finally clear the area of green dots and me to make that sad face a smiley. I caught up with scramping in Robe for lunch before heading inland...
This was our target cache...
The wind was blowing a gale & the rain had been pelting down...
scramping was navigating and initially took us down the wrong, rocky, hilly track...
I was thankful that the Forrester has a tight turning circle so managed to turn around...
An easier option was found...a lot easier and with the gate open, it was an easy drive to get very close to GZ...
Stunning views & the wildflowers are starting to appear...
It did not take long to locate the cache as it was a familiar hide...
Photos were taken before turning around again and back to Robe...
Thanks for taking us to this location Smile

As this is an old cache it is one that I would like to keep going...I am a member of the GeocachingSA community...I have put this cache on my watchlist to ensure it gets maintained and kept active...as far as the container goes, I have left the 200ml sistema in place as it was not hard to locate and in good condition...if it needs replacing a regular size will be put in it's place...I hope this is acceptable to the CO...I am happy to discuss further and can be contacted via the Message Centre...cheers hevwalker Big Grin

Hi Davidwazza - it was actually placed by me and adopted by Slider & Smurf. It must have shrunk since I placed it. But they will need to edit it, or pass it on to someone else to maintain as I am now in Sydney, and they seem to be in the USA and no longer active.

Today was my final day in the southeast region before heading back to Adelaide. A final cave dive was had, before then driving on to Millicent for the OzAdventure 2020 promotion event, geocaching along the way. After having a good chat and finding the geocaches around Lake McIntyre where the event was held, I then found a few need ladder geocaches on the highway back to Kingston, and made a slight detour out towards Robe. Although there was intermittent showers earlier, it was only here when the sky unloaded with heavy rain, and arrived back to Adelaide a little earlier than my forecast ETA.

This was one of the target geocaches as I headed back to Adelaide, since it was an old 2002 vintage one, and the one word I have for this one is "Grrrr."

I entered from SW, and as I was coming along the dirt road, the rain started. And it wasn't just light rain, it was the heavy kind. The kind that came in sideways. I was already so committed that I just kept going. I needed to open two sheep gates, and they were very annoying. The rain jacket did nothing to stop me getting wet, and I had committed myself further for this cache since I was half saturated. I continued along the path to arrive at GZ... it seemed a pretty cool and interesting location, but with dark clouds in the sky, there was no sign at easing up.

I got out of the car, and just jogged up the hill hoping I would see this regular sized cache quickly, and then sign the logbook in the car. However 10 min of hopelessly wandering around the top of hill at GZ, no cache container had been spotted. Had I come this far to really log a DNF?! I kept persisting hoping I would soon see it. I tried all sorts of angles, underneath all sorts of plants and shrubs, but just couldn't believe that nothing was to be seen. I soon widened my searcha round rocks, looked through previous logs and images, and still nada. I was soon in giving up, and had even reasoned myself that it was nice enough to come back in better weather with my geocaching buddy.

I soon looked through something else, and consequently had uncovered the cache. It was one of the smallest sistema containers to be had. I was gobsmacked. Really?! That was a major disappointment, and really think either a bigger sized container can be hidden here, or otherwise the size of the container should be changed.

Anyway, nice location like I mentioned, and thanks Slider & Smurf and Richary for the placement and cache maintenance. I have posted some photos of me being drenched here.

On a caching road trip from Brisbane, Queensland to the Mega event near Canberra at Easter. Got my left n right mixed up somewhere and ended up on a little detour through South Australia and Victoria to sample their caches on the way.

Decided I'd visit this one as it's an oldie and hoped I'd be able to find my way through what looked like a maze of tracks on my map. I came in on the Boomaroo Park Rd and through the Dawson Swamp Syphon along the top of the drain.
Oh my golly goodness!! That is a looong way down and not a lot of room on the slidey side either! I'm not a fan of heights of any sort, so this was a slow and careful drive in. Wasn't sure how the track was further along so thought it was better to go with the devil you know than to take a chance on the unknown and find nasty surprises in the dark. There was just enough room to turn the car around once I'd moved some branches out of the way, so I did a very cautious 23 point turn and got the pointy end facing the right way before I started the hunt just as it got dark.

It was a bit of up, down, all around in the search for this one using headlamp and torch as it was full dark by now. Found the cheeky devil sitting out laughing at me, so I grabbed it and squiggled my name on it to hush it up.

Found a pathtag in it which seems to a peculiarity this trip, all bar one of the "scary" finds has had one in it, bringing the find rate in the wild waaay down from one pathtag per 250+ caches, to one in 55! Not complaining about that

Now for the bit that puts this one in the "scary" class for me- getting back along that track in the dark! Had spotties and it wasn't that far but I sure was packing it for that section and was so relieved to be away from the edge of that drain and again have plenty of firm ground on both sides of the vehicle! Phew!!

On the way in I saw a fox cowering in the grass but couldn't get it. A happier sighting was after I got back on the highway. I spotted a live wombat! On previous trips I'd seen a few dead ones and PLENTY of wombat doo-doo but never a live one in the wild. Within an hour tonight I actually saw TWO of them so I was pretty thrilled about that. I'd always thought of them as slow ponderous animals but tonight I was surprised at how fast they can move, so I wasn't fast enough to get a photo of them, just where they'd been.

TFTC Slider and Smurf and especial thanks to Richary for keeping it going.

We took a drive into Robe for a few essentials that was needed from the shops, we don't often go in this way so I was eying this off on the way!

Wanting to get to the shops in time we did drive past but on the way back detoured across. We came in from the east, a fence gate had the road shut but figured we should be ok so opened it up and drove through. Gate re shut the tracks good just a bit long in the middle of weeds but caused no issues and we continued through okay.

I was really impressed with the channel through here, not just the size and length but the details of all the hand stacked rocks along the wall. That's some labour. The sign at the cache location was some investment of money, hard to think they spent that much money so long ago, as well as the effort of the construction here.

A bit of time for the phones gps to settle but the caching trail pointed the way. Signed on a blank page just before the other signatures and left a PT.

After a bit of a look all the way down we continues westward. Had an emu run out onto the track and it ran off in front of us bum feathers wobbling about. Super amusing! Those things can move!!! Saw a lot of emus in the area, one paddock had dozens of them with lots of older chicks too. The gate at the other end back onto the road was open.

Thanks for the cache and for keeping a 2002 going. Favourite for the location and the oldie.

From our base in Millicent, in the very good company of fellow Victorians Suscoe, we enjoyed the scenery and the history lessons, of a day along the coast including Robe and Cape Jaffa.

WOW - A real Golden Oldie - 15 years plus on the geo-game board.

What a brilliant day Suscoe had today out and about with our good friends Phetlern.
Sunshine, some light drizzle here and there, some fog, a gentle breeze, sheep, cows, horses, foxes, seabirds and loads of wonderful countryside including coastal scenery and pastoral lands greeted us as we travelled from Millicent to Cape Jaffa and back again.
We enjoyed our day out and we found lots of caches.
Thanks to Slider and Smurf and Richary for this hide, nice to see this hide and location.
What an amazing job done here.

This one has escaped the finding net for too long. So drove out with geokids to checkout the channel. That is a looooong way down!
Came in from the SW and exited NE. A good track with no obstacles.
Replaced the container with a Sistema painted black, and included a new logbook too.
Thanks for keeping this oldie going...

Out for a day of sightseeing and caching around the Robe and Kingston areas with Biggles of Oz and Mrs Biggles. This was our eleventh and last cache of the day which Biggles of Oz and Mrs Biggles had done some time ago. Not sure that we took the right track to GZ, as it appeared as though it was an old fire track that was a bit challenging. However we did finally arrive in the vicinity of GZ and Mr Pooky soon had the cache in hand and the log signed. Cache fifty one of sixty two for our trip. TFTC, the history and bringing us to this spot, which we would never have know it ever existed had it not been for geocaching. The trip out was a much easier one on a well formed track. TNLN.

Will return and try again. There was a fence across the track, for the stock to stay put and safe in the area. We found the gate on the other road but we were unsure whether to go through it as it looked like private property.

well this one was fun...
we ended up entering via Kangaroo Hill Rd off Old Naracoorte Rd.
the gate was not locked nor did it have any do not enter signs
so we proceeded.
it was a good thing that we had passengers as a few of the branches were over the track
and we had to get out and hold them back while geo hubby drove through.
gz was an easy find.
fascinating spot the cutting in so far down.
our next adventure was performing a U-turn to go back the way we came
as we had already seen the other end of this track and it has been fenced off (no gate).
a fav point for the adventure.

It was our last day with Geodad before he returns to work for 4-5 weeks. It was many games of Uno in the morning with hot drinks & biscuits. Then we decided on what we should do for the rest of the day. So we decided a day trip out around Robe & Beachport, so we packed a picnic & off we went on our adventure as a family. We stopped in at Nora Creina for our family picnic lunch & then headed to Robe. Of course caching is always what we love to do so we looked around for some to do. We had left Robe & wanted to look at Southend so we looked for another cache along the way & detoured a little this way. Well what an experience, not sure if we went the correct way but we sure enough made it there. What a view, wouldn't want to drive of the edge that's for sure. Quick & easy find today. TFTC Smile

We loved the drive in to this cache, it's these out of the way locations that make geocaching great.

The cache was found quickly, and I took some time to go back through the earliest entries in the log book. We learned the Team Unicycle was here ten years and one day ago! Finding a spot to do a u-turn was fun, but we made it eventually.

Thanks to Slider & Smurf, Richary, and whoever else is maintaining this cache these days.
