#18569 - 5:10:00 PM; Day 36 of the European Road Trip, with a trip to Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath planned today. Arrived in Windsor and collected a couple of caches along with a visit to Windsor Castle before continuing on to Stonehenge. Waited for an eternity for the bus to The Stones, but got there eventually. That meant time was of the essence and being late into Bath restricted time somewhat. I still managed to gather the information I needed for this cache, which has been sent off to the CO to get the OK. Greetings from Australia and TFTV The Wombles
TFTVC On a weekend trip with the spouse; our first time in Bath. What a lovely city. Came for the Christmas Market, stayed for the charm and rugby. Wanted to make this my first find in Bath. Photo is half me since this trip my caching device and camera are one and the same.
Very busy here as its it's the first Saturday of the bath Christmas market. Very good.though. tftc
Answers sent. Thanks for this cache that made us go and have a proper look at the hoardings surrounding the renovation work.
Marshall’s Geelong found this virtual today,
Thanks for taking us to such an important part of British history! It’s stunning on the inside. Glad I came here. Cache requirements were easy enough to locate.

Great trip to Bath but it poured the day I went looking for this cache. Brrrrr.
I Didn’t find the Plaque that commemorates the Coronation of King Edgar because it was dark & I didn’t walk far enough around to find the bus stop but I do hope that you will accept my visit with my Travel Bug & Geocoin?
In the Bath area just for the day, so targeted a few caches that looked interesting ... this virtual was for me number one priority. Very pleasant Abbey and area around the city centre. Answer has been sent to the CO.
Thanks for creating this virtual cache ... real shame this type of cache was withdrawn, apart from a few awarded in recent times. Favourite Point awarded for the location.

Hopefully this is cache 300 for me, so a very special one was required. Fascinating look round the abbey, installing underfloor heating & recording all the memorial stones in the floor. Tour up the tower, behind the clock & next to the bells for 2pm. A great afternoon. Tftc
What a nice place to visit during an English cultural and language trip. I like this virtual a lot since I've been reading the great books of Bernard Cornwell on the making of England. Nice to go back in time. Thanks The Wombles for this one!
We were on the spot, but could not get close to the plate. The plate is behind the fencing and can be seen through the peephole in the gate.
Answer sent. Toured the inside of the Abbey, enjoyed it veryuch.

A trip to Bath for the Earth Caches , the hoarding is still there but luckily the answers are reproduced on it. TFTC
During a walk through Bath we found this nice VC at a very interesting place. The original plaque was not visible. However, finally we spotted the answer.

Found during one day trip to Bath, Salisbury and Stonehenge with afrina and surie.m.
We liked the building but it was a bit difficult to get the answer.
Thank you for the cache. Photo attached, answer sent.

On a quick road trip around the area and we stopped off to see the baths. After lunch it was time to stroll around the area . It appears that we were here on a carnival day as there were people everywhere.

###MILESTONE CACHE #5800###
Can't say this was really planned this way, but I am glad the numbers fell that this one was a milestone. On Tour right around all of England, Britain, so fitting the first king is, well, first.
I was a bit worried actually once at GZ that I might not be able to do this one as there is a lot of boardings and building work going on, but no worries mates, this one can be seen from the walkway. I really enjoyed the hour or so of free time from the tour in Bath - managed a few sneaky caches.
Thanks The Wombles for bringing me to this location. A FP for the day in Bath.

The postcards and books, just do not do Bath any justice. Its just a beautiful city![^]
We arrived in Bath as part of a tour, and found ourselves right in the heart of the place, with all the hustle and bustle, and it was only a Tuesday!.
A visit to the Abbey was not possible as a funeral was to take place, but I still managed to walk around and admire and photograph the great building.
Logged with permission. Will add as a favourite.

We too found the missing piece but were able to still come up with the goods via some research. We visited the Abbey Church before the Baths and on our way home in the late evening and got some great night shots! I love a virtual that teaches you something new and such an important piece of history I would have been unaware of otherwise

Had loaded up the iPhone before leaving Australia back in May so didn't know about the plaque's unavailability. Consequently did a few laps at different times in an unsuccessful search.
Heartily agree with CO about the Lord Mayor's free walks - they are among the best interpretive walks we have done. They also talk a bit about Edgar and the previous incarnations of the building. We also loved the comedy walk which starts just round the corner from the cathedral. The night we did it there was bell ringing at the cathedral which was interesting competition for our "guide".
As with all of Bath this is a fascinating place and we enjoyed our visit immensely. Thanks Wombles

Like the previous post, I visited using a copy of the cache details taken before the cache was disabled. I guessed that the plaque had gone after a brief search.
Fulfilled the requirements by taking a picture of GPS + a rather striking sculpture around the other side of the Abbey.
Answer sent to owner obtained from a local guide.
Nice location - I have usually bypassed Bath due to traffic considerations and this is only the seccond time I actually stopped there. Hope to return one day and pick up some more caches.

We weren't aware that the plaque is gone, so we went around the abbey three times in search of it. This at least gave us several good views of the abbey so no harm done here. Afterwards I retrieved the necessary information anyways, so I claim this one as found
Thanks for leading us here

We came to look for this virtual after visiting the Roman Baths and watching some talented street performers outside. We did a couple of laps around the Abbey looking for the elusive plaque. We spotted where a plaque used to be right where the GPSr took us, so can only assume it has gone for a clean up? We have sent the CO an email and attached some photos. Thanks for taking us to this magnificent building, the interesting write up and TFTV

Found today on a quick walk around Bath this morning. When I say quick, I actually mean stiff - as we both completed the Bath Half Marathon yesterday.
Will e-mail the answers and upload the photo when we get home.
Thanks a lot for the cache,

We were pleasantly surprised with this little town. Got some really great pictures and learned some fun facts. Glad it was part of the tour. Pic and answers coming tonight.
First Cache I found while on my tour. We stopped here for the afternoon and gave me enough time to pick up a cache or 2. TFTC
So I have the day in Bath, after visiting the baths, the next thing my Lonely Planet says to visit is the Abbey. Very smart book it is too - impressive building you've got there.
Found the required info after stopping for a pasty and a cup of tea. Many thanks.

Found this one at night, the abbey is very pretty all lit up. Then spent half the next day touring Bath, very interesting spot.
Cheers, TFTC.
