Amazing views and an old cache. Really cant ask for more than that. GZ is overgrown and hard to find cache but Mrs Ambayu had no trouble with this one. TFTC

On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Found TFTC SL Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Great View.

Road tripping once again from Mackay heading to the Gold Coast this time via some old caches along the way. A little overgrown - yes it was, updated co-ordinates a few logs back definitely helped along with some perseverance. Cache returned to its location. TFTC.

After completing the Rural Safari yesterday, it was time for a leisurely Sunday drive through the back roads of country I had not cached in before. Cool

30-Oct-23
Away for a 4 day weekend starting at an event on the Sunshine Coast, across to Kilcoy, down to Coominya, up toToowoomba, then over to Bell. Then it will be back to Toowoomba via Crows Nest and home through Warwick. Have a rather ambitious list as always so it will be a busy few days. Stayed the night in Bell and could only do some of the caches there so will have another trip to do the rest. I'm now on my way to Crows Nest for the night so only doing a few caches along the way and this oldie was one of them.Admired the view, then scampered across the road for this one. Had a bit of a hunt before finding it.TFTC

DarrowbyTribe I found your cache Valley View on 22/9/2023, 10:45 am. This is my find 6012 and find # 4 today. Found it after a brief search with the help of updated coordinates. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

I had some trouble trying to find this one. The grass was SO LONG! I couldn't locate it even with the help of hints in the logs. I'm hoping to come back and give it another crack sometime soon.

Unfortunately too much grass. It is probably there, but requires luck to find it spending a fair bit of time in the very very long grass.

During our recent stay in Crows Nest we found this cache and signed the log.

We enjoyed the drive through the country side.

On our way home from Toowoomba to the Sunny Coast and took a slight detour to pick up this old cache. It wasn’t too far off course and the views were a pleasant surprise. Took a while to find u til I read some logs that gave very accurate coords and a good hint. TFTC

The tall grass did not defeat us? Things are a little damp, so left some silica gel.

26-Aug-22
Took a bit of finding in long grass, rocky terrain- no lid & rats have chewed on lid!

Found this special place for #1000. Don't do this on in summer. When they say overgrown they mean it. Blue lid? Gone. Otherwise cache is fine.

Staying in Goomungee for a few days. The weather has been pretty cold and wet, the roads are damp and muddy. So what do you do, attempt to solve teh nearby puzzles of course. Alas there are far more than we can solve but the sun was supposed to be out today so a plan to convert some Big Grin. The sun only came back out when we got back to camp.[8)].

This took some searching but eventually after reading Pprime log from 2017 "The best nearby spot though was under a rock at S27° 13.046 E151° 52.768" Mr Felix finally was able to locate the cache. Phew.

Nah, don't think this is a good spot. Many great locations across the road.

Felt round with feet in waste deep grass but no luck. Sad

The grass was a bit too long for us to get to the cache

01-Feb-22
Let me begin with, this is perhaps the hardest 1/1.5 cache I have ever done….

This oldie was one of two target caches for me today… having left home just before midday the day is getting away from me though…

As one of Queensland’s oldest 100 caches to say I was “determined” would be an understatement… pig headed might be more accurate…

Everyone has taken photos of the lovely view, so I was a little under prepared for the grass over my head at GZ… I was a metre and a half in before I spotted my first Boulder… And those geotrails we all use were non-existent…

I went in and out (round was not possible) for at least 30 minutes… I even resorted to PAF, thanks Davinells… The relief when I finally moved the right clump of grass was tangible…

I think Davinells said it best “Holy crap that’s a lot of grass”

Tftc…??

A plan was formed recently to camp at Oakey over the October long weekend (due to Ekka being postponed) and tackle the art and a number of fun puzzles in the vicinity. The call went out to a few others we enjoy travelling with and the solving began! Lots of back and forth between members and we finally had a full set a few days out from the trip.

The roads were wet and muddy but that isn't going to stop a group of dedicated geocachers on a mission! The rain held off which we were grateful for however chunks of mud were often shaken off shoes before returning to cars and moving on to the next one.

As is always the case when caching with others there were many laughs and a great time had by all. Always a great sense of achievement when you've been working through a project over a number of weeks.

Thankyou for placing and arranging this series for our enjoyment. The fields and flowers were in bloom. Birds a plenty enjoying the roadside water sources. The scenery was refreshing. Always enjoy a taste of the countryside. Logs signed as Team Grav (as in Gravel assault!)

30-Oct-21
Day two of my three day weekend of caching. A later start than normal for me as we had a team of cachers ready to take the fields today. To reduce the amount of cars on the road, Charli and I got to jump in with Domsky and Esmiley. This was a fantastic time and a memorable one, I got to have a lot of fun today. Not just with my caching buddies but some good quality time with my little girl, before she drops the geocaching thing.

We set off and just drove all day; there were hills that gave us some great scenery and crop fields. Some beautiful country roads and a variety of animals to see, yes a variety, cows, horses, lizards, frogs, an echidnae, a Clydesdale horse (striking), sheep, kangaroos, wallabies, birds and a black cockatoo. Two stand outs would have been the Clydesdale and the echidnae.

The caches today varied in size and with some really nice and clever hides. The regular and large containers kept Charli busy while we signed the logs. It was just a great day out some really good company.

This cache was an easy find. We singed the log as team GRAV, rather than writing 10 names in it. Thank you for placing it here.

This was a great find, an old cache; it was a slight detour up the road from where we were going but glad to make the find.

30-Oct-21
Day two of our Oakey trip and a later start than usual.

We set off just after 9am and hit the trail, ughh.. Road? I don't know what to call it, but we travelled on it. Our main target for the day was the Gravel series than we slowly made our way north than south while collecting a bunch of caches along the way.

I have never ventured out this way before so it was a real eye opener, the towns, the farms, the flowers, the animals, you name it we saw it, well, maybe not everything because I was disappointed I didn't see an elephant, but you get the picture.

We certainly picked the right time of year as the Jacarandas were in full bloom and you wouldn't go through a town without seeing a bunch of them, absolutely stunning, it truely is an amazing tree and you can literally spot them from a mile away.

The team had an absolute blast and we thoroughly enjoyed travelling the open road breathing in the fresh country air, what more could you ask for? Well, a coffee shop perhaps since I went the WHOLE. ENTIRE. DAY without coffee and that is deadly, If i miss my daily caffeine goodness I become a terrible person and do bad things, other than that it was a very memorable day.

It wasn't until 5 minutes after we started searching that I realised this was a Q100 cache, so that was my motivation to find this cache. After several more minutes the cache was located and the log was signed, we than wandered across the road to take in the scenery and head off before the rain started.

Log signed as Team Grav to save space.

A group of us came together to reassemble the SSE, find all of Gravel's Travels and everything in between. This is a beautiful area. Some caches took my Corolla to places it shouldn't have been, especially after the rain. But we had fun, found a variety of hides and saw a variety of landscapes (and muddy roads).

A big thanks to all the CO's who gave us a reason to camp in a little town for the weekend. Those who don't make this a weekend holiday destination are missing out.

Oldie. Glad to have found it.

30-Oct-21
At the end of a wonderful day of caching with friends in this area, we took a detour to find this one. Spectacular views across the road in the late afternoon sun. Jacarandas in a heady purple haze on our journey here. Happy days!

Day 2 of our Toowoomba caching adventure and with RoddyC, hatzofff and Grannysmith1947, we are hitting the back roads finding the Gravel series and others along the way.

We were in the general area and GS1947 mentioned this oldie was just up the road. How could we refuse. A 15 minute drive and pulled up at this picnic spot. What a view!!!

The grass is quite long here and made searching for this cache a bit tricky. Finally located the cache but water has gotten in via the broken lid. Had a spare cache container in the car so replaced with that for now but will need a better cache container in the future. SL then returned as found.

After an overnight stay in Toowoomba we ventured out to this series. Puzzles were recently solved. RoddyC, grannysmith1947. Patrol14 in tow.

This one was a quick diversion to pick it up. Did a little repair job but it does need more TLC. (needs a larger cache). The original log book is still in play.

Great to have another oldie.

Heading out and about with Pprime on a semi dry day (how is that for positivity!) collecting random caches and generally having a great time. With a night under the belt in Toowoomba, continued to cherry pick caches to the north. Among the few picked up today there were a scattering of oldies. Good view considering today was suppose to be wet and miserable but ended up fine, warm and windy. Cheers DarrowbyTribe and others for maintaining this cache.

Grey Nomads, now totally sick of the covid hold up thing, and time in Brisbane for knee surgery. So now with the blessing of surgeons and physios, we hit the road again, and can get back to placing yellow smilie faces around Australia (Queensland for now)

Today, based at Goombungee, we targeted a round route involving trads, multis and a puzzle. 8/9 today and a first to find.

A great view indeed, did not realise we had climbed that high. Lunch at the top. Took pathtag. Thanks DarrowbyTribe

The view is amazing from here! I was stunned! It took a wee while to located the cache and I replaced the busted ziplock and added a pathtag and some more trades to this good sized cache before heading off. Just amazing and a Fav point for the location. Well done

Found with Touchstone7 on a trip out west of Brisvegas. We were up visiting my father and decided that a little side trip around an area I haven't really been to could be fun.

And of course, there were caches.

Decided to look for breakfast, but (un)fortunately all we could find was a cache. Ah well, brekkie is overrated.

Thanks for the cache and sorry for the late log. Sometimes life gets a little hectic Smile

Enjoying the qld winter taking a short break west of our father's farm, soothing our need to explore, before returning south.

Having gone for a walk this morning instead of getting food, we find ourselves searching out Hayden and it's pies. We decided to grab the cache first though and check out the view. It really is quite beautiful but highlights the areas need for rain.
Cache was found in good condition at the logical spot.

After driving through Crows Nest we came upon a road block and wondered what we had stumbled upon. It looked like we had discovered an early afternoon Saturday market that was in full swing and there were stalls everywhere. We had to wait for the traffic to be directed and even considered pulling in to spend some money.

We decided to keep driving to this cache first which was lucky because what we had found was a massive scout camp out. We had been crossing paths with scouts all day and it would have been embrassing to pull in and hang out. Being an old scout, I don’t remember them selling wine or coffee at a jamboree.

After seeing the odd roadkill on the drive, we arrived to find a carcass that had been picked clean but we found ourselves downwind and the stank was horrific. Thankfully we enjoyed a quick find and appreciated this cache had been recently replaced because our nasal cavities were under assault. When I asked my wife to CITO the remains of the dead roo, I knew my marriage was in jeopardy and accepted her staunch refusal. tftc

I was really pleased to read that Fangsoki and Pprime had replaced this cache, and after a long day at work I grabbed geo-teen on the promise that we would go for a wee drive and end up somewhere for dinner, hehehe. Well this cache is only 22km from home so that's not exactly far, but she didn't know that I planned to find a couple more caches about that same distance apart, and that dinner was going to be in Toowoomba not back near home, lol.

Well Geo-teen had insisted she was not interested in helping me at all with anything to do with geocaching today, nor could I make her. Fair enough. "Here, take this stuff to the car for me please hun" I ask... "ooh I'll take these in case there's something to swap", she replies, clearly disinterested. We get to the cache site, which we were at not too many days ago, before the cache replacement. "I hate this spot", says The Teen, as she jumps out of the car, marvels at the cool Valley View, before heading over and proudly pointing out a spot that looks to be a likely cache position. Still clearly not interested at all, hehe. She proceeds to perform a nice swap under my watchful eye, as I sign the log. "I'm not doing any more caching today, Mum" she says. "Ok darl," I reply, protecting the sacred state of Teen Moodfulness. (Moodfulness is like Mindfulness. You know, being in the moment - only the moments are much crankier).

I love being in the countryside at this time of day, late afternoon, it just all looks super pretty, somehow. Thanks Fangsoki and Pprime for replacing this cache. It's a neat location and nice oldie so we TSLS&SL. Thanks for this cache, it gets a favourite point from us.

Heading westerly today for an event and I wanted to nab this ye olde cache on the way (so to speak). Fangsoki kindly offered to drive and after an early start, and coffee, we were soon enough skipping along the road up here. Now the original hiding place was demolished, so we had come prepared to help out. The best nearby spot though was under a rock at S27° 13.046 E151° 52.768. That'll do donkey.

Thanks for placing this cache, DarrowbyTribe. Left in good condition.

You can't replace a geocache that is not yours enough times I always say.

I first found this cache 5 years ago. The last time I replaced it, I managed to put it back into the same place I had found it. We did the same thing again today.

The reason why Pprime and I have bothered to replace a cache that is not ours and 200km from home is that this cache is one of Queensland's 100 Oldest.

So we turned up knowing full well that the cache probably has gone walky again. Sure enough, Master Bitumen and Madam Tar have seen fit to encroach on the cache's hide. It used to be in a low thicket of a thorny bush. The only bush like it is a good 15-20m away. So a replacement was placed pretty much at the same co-ordinates (give or take a few metres). All one needs is a geo-sense to know where it is hiding.

Cache is a 1 litre Sistema-style container- kindly provided by Mr Pprime. I think Mr Prime actually found a better hide than the original Razz

Cache on, peeps Smile

A day out was planned with Slow Puncture to find as many of Queensland's oldest caches as possible in a single day trip around the Darling Downs today.

We passed through Ravensbourne, Crows Nest, Carbalah, Meringandan, Kingsthorpe, Goombungee, Haden and Yarraman on our adventure, finding 8 oldies and a total of 26 caches during the 540 km drive Cool.

This older one somehow wasn't on my list, and was only spotted by coincidence while looking for caches along the route to Dragon's Lair. The view is stunning, and thankfully our search was well away from the muggle parked up enjoying it.

The thorns are horrible here, the asparagus is out of control and some spikes are nearly an inch long. With coords a little out, it took a little searching before Slow Puncture came up with the goods. For future reference, it can be found at the base of a bush about 5m from GZ, on the side closest to the road.

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #2865 for us. Thanks **DarrowbyTribe** for showing us this spot. Discover our code TGQNRV, and mention where you saw it.

Thursday. It was an early start for both Orange Crew and Slow Puncture as were out today to collect some of the Oldest and Finest as well as other caches that came along our way.

Had some trouble trying to find this one and eventually found it. Very sneaky. There seemed to be two pathways to the bush area and we both took the wrong one. Once Mrs S.P. went back to the road and saw the path we should have taken, a quick look and couldn’t believe it was “there”! We suffered a few scratches trying to search for this cache, but as always, this is sometimes the case when hunting for a smiley. With all the long grass, this one would be hard to just happen across if you didn’t know what you were looking for. We checked out the view (along with someone else who was parked there) and then after a couple of quick pics, headed off.

This was the 19th of 26 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***DarrowbyTribe***, for showing us this place. Smile

Not much of a view in the rain today. GPS had us way off, and there's lots of thorny plants! Ouch! teamdfl made the find. TFTC, DarrowbyTribe.

Day 3 of my Toowoomba Road Trip with barbb and FastEd. Cache #6 for the day. So glad that this one was pretty much a drive by. The view was great, but the search for the cache was a bit tricky. There are lots of nasty, thorny vines in here, so please be careful with the younger geocachers. Always good to find an oldie though. TFTC DarrowbyTribe Smile

Last day of our Toowoomba trip with barbbowman and Raynersinoz. Time to work our way home and chase some oldest and finest caches.

Love these spots with great views. Had to work hard for this one with all the thorny vines.

Eventually found and log signed.
