Visiting the Adelaide region for a week from Port Macquarie. Today was a very long and somewhat arduous day, starting with an early morning walk around Glenelg before heading out towards the hills, Hahndorf, and Mount Barker. We then finished it off by targeting as many caches on our to-do list as we could before making it back to Glenelg just on dark for some gelati. Overall, it was a mostly successful caching day and are thoroughly enjoying our visit to Adelaide thus far.Nice little walk down to this oldie and a quick find. Thanks for the cache
Whrend des Sdaustralienaufenthaltes sind wir auch bei diesem Oldie vorbeigekommen. Danke frs Hegen und Pflegen dieses Caches
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Kar Mick Kev [^]
TFTC KarmicKev your cache Hills Hideway that we found today. Last day of caching around Adelaide before we start meandering towards Canberra.Today we cached with Wollaston and MeandDe. We started the day with a couple of 2001 caches before heading to the CITO and the after event. WE slowly cached our way back to the Caravan Park to start packing and the evening event.Another old cache on our list.Find Count: 18650
Not too far from posted co ords, and decent condition despite a hole in the lid. Tftc
We were heading back to Adelaide after finding [GC1E2 Scott Creek Multiple](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1E2_scott-creek-multiple) so obviously we weren't going to pass this old one by since we were nearby. The co-ordinates seemed a little out to me but eventually the container was found. Now to climb back up that hill! Thanks for find #5492TNLN
On a Leap Forward hunting expidition with HansandLinda, MeandDe. Another great day for caching. TFTC KarmicKev
#21815 @1455In Adelaide for the Leap Day Mega. Spent the day caching with ZQX, Fox in Jox and AngelG. After attending the mega we chased down more old caches, solved caches and high DT caches. Cache soon found after a short stroll. TFTC.
In SA for the Great Leap Forward with AngelG, TikvaNZ and ZQX. Today, being Leap Day, we attended the Mega and collected lots of caches in and around the city.Great to get an oldie. TFTC R, J & K
Cache # 11004 on 29 Feb 2024Mega time! This is my first mega in South Australia so am very excited to have made it here from the ACT. Arrived Wednesday by plane and leaving Adelaide on Saturday for a road trip back to the ACT. Travelling mostly with Fox in Jox, TikvaNZ and ZQX, but also with others intermittently. Looking forward to grabbing a wide variety of caches while here! Today was the main course, with lots of different types of caches, DTs, old caches and attending the Mega of course. Finished with the dinner event at the mega site. A fun day overall despite sore feet towards the end. Another old cache to add to my finds. Hard to pass them up! My feet were sore by this time sadly. Thank you KarmicKev for the cache and the fun!
A few little golden oldies on the to-do list while here in SA for the awesome Leap Year Event TFTC
Found in our group of seven Queenslanders unsupervised in Radelaide mega'ing. Stacey's mom has not got it going on so Stacey has to step up to the plate again. All logs signed or stamped as SQUIRM. Thanks for the cache KarmicKev
Another day in Adelaide and SQUIRM are on the road again this time with a hitchhiker from QueenslandAn early start saw us soon stopping to wait for the little man from the village who got Staceys Mum back on the road again after her second flat tyre in two days Weve been too hard on Staceys MumFirst stop was Mannum to attend The Best Breakfast Event in the world ever then more targeted caching challenges, D/Ts, high faves and anything else we stepped over along the way there might even have been a new LGA in thereThanks KarmicKev ??
Its day 6 and Team SQUIRM are heading east, weve picked up a QLD hitchhiker to make a team of seven for the day. After visiting Mannum, Murray Bridge, Hahndorf and beyond its time to make our way back to Radelaide with a few choice detours. We made our way down and spread out to search, DisSister came up with the goods after spying something a little suspicious. The walk back up the hill was a bit rough but we made it.Tftc KarmicKevFind #5657
Out and about caching while visiting Adelaide. The aim was to find some OLD caches. This was one of them. Found cache and signed log. TFTC KarmicKev Giving a FP
The Leap Day Mega was a great excuse to come down from Queensland and weve had a busy time exploring Adelaide and surrounds cache by cache. Meeting up with friends old and new, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Although I have been to Adelaide before, this trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining these caches for everyone to enjoy.
TFTC! 27 February 2024 6:42:50pm 7410 thanks to KarmicKev for the cache! Off to the Great Leap Tear Mega in Adelaide. A stop off along the way! A great little find!
Lovely find! No longer under a cousin it looking bush but in the right vicinity! Thanks!
I found the cache really well hidden. We uncovered the cache with no problems.
This was a bit of a hot hike down the hill. The container was in the open and we assumed it had rolled down the hill. We placed it back near the coordinates and made it safe. A nice oldie ??Thanks KarmicKevThe usual trio of myself, stainless steel rat and Budgietas was joined by Tassie Trekkers for The Great Leap Forward trip. We decided to cache down south around Goolwa, Victor Harbour and extended reaches for a few days, before basing ourselves in Glenelg for the second half of the trip where we cached around the city, the hills and the Barossa Valley with a highlight being a couple of hours on Adventure Island. Many thanks to the Mega Committee, all the helpers and many local COs who kept up busy and entertained. Most logs were stamped with Team Tassie.
Another oldie that I was very pleased to find as we made our way South. This was the first trip to the mainland for this group of Tasmanians in a while, we flew over on the 24th and left early on the 3rd. With 4 days in Goolwa followed by 4 in Glenelg we managed to get some caching done in different areas and pull in a select list of caches we all almost all needed, old caches were on the list as normal but also some different D/Ts with some high fav pointed cache making up the remainder. The trip didn't start well with Qantus losing a bag which made us rearrange a couple of days but we got some 4WDing in and a even some driving on the beach to get a couple of different caches, boat trip to Adventure Island was a great start on the day of the Mega too.All caches were stamped "Team Tassie" which consisted of myself, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie TrekkersFound on 24th Feb thanks to the CO for placing this cache for me to find. The best caches I have found so far are:-Sentimental [Moorgreen P3:1, Penny Pincher](http://coord.info/GC32Z5B) By [Sven&Cup](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=6596795)Traditional [Hanging Around in Toorak](http://coord.info/GC62KAP) By [bobthebuilder_123](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=586681)Multi [Gawler Fort Knox](https://coord.info/GC5T0W1) By [**JEM**](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=11449141)Unknown [Men In Black Holes](http://coord.info/GC1DVB0) By [SG-3](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=918045) Letterbox [Rolf's Letterbox](http://coord.info/GC5NCYM) By [membsec](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=5318842)Earthcache [Totem Pole](https://coord.info/GC862H8) By [The Hancock Clan](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=263428)Visit the [Geocaching Tasmania Facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/318455407771/)
We found three caches today with very similar names. It caused some confusion, but luckily we found all threeToday was a the start of our mega trip to South Australia for leap day 2024. The team Tassie included stainless steel rat, gooseandegg, Tassie trekkers and myself.A leisurely start to the day and direction flight fron Hobart to Adelaide meant we were meant to be in the car at 2pm, but due to an airline muck up the day started closer to 3pm.Our first target was Goolwa and we cached on the drive down to goolwa. We arrived at goolwa at 8.30, just in time to do some shopping and grab some tea before heading to the accommodation.TFTC we found as part of this day
Today, day 1 being a big day I left home at 6:00 am and met up with Gooseandegg , Stainless-Steel-Rat, Budgietas and headed off to the airport in Budgietass taxi. We left Tassie and flew into Adelaide for the mega being for the leap day 2024, collected our hire car and headed off to Goolwa picking up a few caches along the way chasing D & T types and filling our fizzy grid and this was one of them. We signed the log as Team Tassie. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
We are on a trip around Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. Beside visiting beautiful places we also do our hobby geocaching. This cache was on the list for completing our second jasmer. I hope to complete second jasmer next week in NZ. Special favorite point for this oldie Rachel, James and Kevin., thank you for this cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction.
After relocating to a more friendly terrain on a hot afternoon, this one was a much easier find than the last one!TFTC KarmicKev
Continuing on my South Australian adventure, I came to this cache. I love old caches and the places that they take me. This was no exception. I parked the geomobile and made my way along the tracks to GZ. My phone didn't like it here and took ages to settle. Eventually it did. That narrowed down the search area and I soon located the cache 6m from where my phone said it would be. Not bad for a cache that is over 20 years old. With my name added to the log and everything returned as found, I continued on my way. TFTC
Quick find while out and about grabbing caches with LittleLeah79 and clan...TNLNSLTFTCTTFNBeaker DGS
Found this time, and definitely not to description. Definitely no small cousin it. Covered up properly thanks to Beaker
With the chores out the way, it was time to head into the hills for some caching. Todays targeted cache was near Blackwood - The mines of moria. Parking at Dale Road, I opened todays account at Drop Zone, a nice walk down and back up again, to find a nicely crafted cache nestled in the tree. A shower of rain swept through after signing so I waited it out, then walked back. I stopped at a good location for looking over the passing trains. I looked at the Mines of Moria dot, and determine it is not near enough, and best to access it from the other path. Sad mistake. But I digress.
I head back to the car and drive to the other side of the valley parking at Gulfview Road and aim for the remaining three. A nice walk down to this one from Grassy Trek, I arrive where the GPS wants me, dead on 0m but no cache. All good, I note that it could be nearby, so I spin around glancing at stuff nearby and notice something obvious. Easy find 8m south of where the GPS wanted me which is pretty good in my opinion. Cache is in great condition for its age, signed and returned as found, its doing the job.
Find #8438 at 12.04pm. Thanks Rachel, James and Kevin.

No cache within 10 m radius, even further. No "cousin it" type bushes, all "short haired"

One of three in my trip to Watiparinga/Ashby reserves.
Having not consulted the topographical map that would have also advised me otherwise, I decided to approch this one from the carparking at Baeckea Pl, so that I'd be parked in a central location to also grab the cache Drop Zone not far from here.
Having found that one first, by treking in and out of a gully twice over to find it, I then made my way back towards this hide, only to discover that it was across yet another gully - my cunning plan of parking in one location for this park had put my car on the ridge adjacent to the two others that actually contained the caches I was hunting.
Considering my options, I concluded that I could either walk the longer fire track route around, or traverse the gully. Finding what appeared to be a stepped rock waterfall (thankfully not flowing) shortly down the fire track, I used it to make my way down into the gully before climbing what seemed to be a 40 degree slope out the other side. I perhaps should have just taken the track...
The cache was an easy find on the climb out, although I did spend a while trying to reconcile the description before realising that the bush described wouldn't remotely resemble the way that it was described over 21 years ago! - A true testament to this caches longevity.
TFTC KarmicKev!

Epic glorious day to find this golden oldie. TFTC beautiful walk down here today the wildflowers are so pretty. Cache found in good order not bad for a 20 year old cache!
First find with our dog. Great cache, easily found on a nice walk. Beautiful day and time of year for this park. We plan to come here again. Our Lab loved it. Such a quiet peaceful place so close to suburbia.
In the end, yes found it .. coords wanted me at different tree... Iwld have been pretty #$@% if this wasn't a find after that clamber! Tftc
Great to find this really old cache,
and the location is good too.
Good break from the car.
Out caching with D@geo looking around S.A

First of a couple of “golden oldie” caches that dad found en-route to a breakfast event. Great drive and short walk to the GZ through the birdsong.
Found the cache a little downhill of my iPhone’s idea of GZ. TFTC

A quick detour while I was in the area today. A great walk and quick find in the end. Just had to watch out for snakes on this warm day. haven't been here in this reserve before! TNLN. Cheers.
I have an interest in filling my Jasmer grid, so this cache has been on my radar for a long time, including one unsuccessful previous attempt. After slowly working my way down the hill, and a lengthy search over a wide area, finally had the cache in hand. Coordinates were approximately 10 metres off for me. TFTC
That got the heart pumping. Working on our Jasmer with Cachehunter and the geo pup. Tftc
Found with NiciDanielle and Zoe the Geodog. Awesome that this one has been around since nearly the beginning. Awesome work with maintaining it guys! TFTC
As I was going for the nearby cache I realised that I was close to a cache which I had long (years) meant to go for and now it was within a short walk. Took longer than should have to spot the GZ. Felt good to find a cache that is one of the earliest since the establishment of geocaching in SA (and the World). Thanks R,J and K.
After an appointment south of the city decided to go a lit bit further south for some caching. Main aim was a walk in the Watiparinga/Ashby Reserve after some traditionals, and anything else that looked like it needed to be found. Ended up finding 8 traditionals and a couple of puzzles but also had a DNF on another puzzle
At almost twenty years this one is quite old, nothing quite at my GZ but looking around spotted the container trying to get away downhill. Returned it to the stone circle is must have got out of and by adding an extra sentry and a little bit of repositioning made sure he wouldn't get out by himself again.
Thanks to KarmicKev for putting this cache out here for me to find.

Got to love an oldie, and a county find here. While dealing with an ant that found its way in my eye and a few log readings, we made a look about and a bit further down where the cache was easily location.
Trip log:
When it comes to our trips for GreyHams and myself, opportunity seems to play a big part in the timings.. be it an event, sales on airfares or car hire, in this case it was my visiting SA and being there that worked so well for this one!
So it was a drive up to Adelaide to collect GreyHams from the airport and then a trip that would see us ending up in Mount Gambier in the South east of SA, close to my family holidaying nearby and conveniently located that GreyHams could fly home to his. Perfect when a plan just comes together!!!
The primary target of the trip was counties, about 21 in total and we had almost the complete opposite need of counties from each other. Of course we also targeted other caches of importance, oldies dominated the state but there was DT, virtuals, webcams, Ausmer and types. If your cache made our list it had a quality we were wanting, or as GH says, we were waiting for a ferry or a plane!
What a variation in the places we visited, from Adelaide's suburbs out into the hills, the ferry across to Kangaroo Island for the night and the many coastal regions through Victor Harbour and Goolwa. Through Murray Bridge and out into Mallee Country to Lameroo before turning and finding a great bed and meal at the Keith Hotel. Continuing South into the very bottom of the SE of SA before returning north slightly to make the plane, in time and that arrived! So much wild life through the areas and locations of interest, it was great!
Had to love the Santas through the Adelaide hills, seems that stuffing a Santa suit is an art form all of its own, and entertained us for a long time! Kayaking to an island on Kangaroo Island was fun and although the donut from Port Elliot bakery had to pass with masses already queueing... the chunky steak pie from Willunga Bakery might not have been as good as a pepper pie later but it was still damn good! Its the little things sometimes!!!
Many thanks for your cache that led us about on a varied and very enjoyable trip!

Another oldie, originally parked on the wrong side, but we soon fixed that

This trip came together due in the best way! Aquilus1 was over in SE SA visiting family, yet had a bunch of counties unfound between Adelaide CBD and Victor Harbour, I was missing all the counties south & east of Strathalbyn. What could be better than flying over from Canberra and being picked up at ADL airport and knocking of ALL the counties all the way to Mt Gambier, where I flew out. Last minute Covid shenanigans in Sydney & Melbourne threatened to derail it, but all good.
Of course our trips are more than just counties....we have a range of targets: Oldies, webcams/virtuals, larges with challenges and D/T thrown in for fun. If you are reading this log, then this cache had some quality we were hunting (or we were waiting for ferries or planes!)
We saw such a change in countryside, from Adelaide Hills, to Kangaroo Island, up to Borrika and then down to 'the Mount'....and the Santas! I can see areas where christmas lights arent the done thing, its stuffing your own Santa and posing them in the front garden, saw some very funny examples, we were chuckling for an hour I swear.
South Australia has such a wealth of very old caches, its wonderful. We grabbed lots of oldies and are now just a single find off our Ausmer challenges (just need to get to Melbourne or Brisbane for the last).

I have had this one on the radar for quite some time given the age of the cache so today I had a bit of spare time for a nice walk. [^]
I had read previous logs about the coords being a bit off so I got down to GZ and started looking and of course I didn't find it in the first, second or third places I looked.
Eventually I spotted something that looked a bit cachey and there it was just waiting for me. Glad to have my stamp in this log and that ticks another month off.
Thanks for the cache Rachel, James and Kevin.

Out and about caching and enjoying the great weather.
I made a special trip here to find this cache due to its age.
As reported by previous finders, the coordinates were a little off but still within reasonable tolerance. Cache found without problems.

So we couldn’t find it then we found it about 19 metres from where the pin drop said it would be.
Quick and easy find, TFTC!
Amazed at how old this cache is, a nice piece of history!

Found it! First outting in a while. Searched the tree at GZ (or where my phone claimed it to be) but couldn't find anything. Just before giving up, we searched a little wider and BINGO! Thanks for a fun outting on a rainy day.
Mark and Mary are caching Aussie M & M style. So, we got up late, had a long slow start, and meandered to this cache
It is our first of the day and we targetted this cache. Mark went down the hill to make the find, while Mary enjoyed the views. Hope this area stays untouched forever. Birds are chirping and the breeze is blowing gently in the trees.
TFTC, great age to it. A favourite from us.

Greetings from Scotland. This is a date we needed for our Jasmer so we thought it was worth going slightly out of our way to see if we could find it. We had picked up our motor home to drive to Melbourne and this was our first stop. Our SatNav wanted to take us on a different approach but MrsF decided to overrule it. Thank goodness she did or we may have been taking the T5 route to the cache. We enjoyed our walk to GZ. The final few yards were very slippery and we had watch out footing. We started to search around but just weren't seeing anything. We read a previous log about it being a few meters out so we expanded our search. There was one very obvious cache hide and no cache to be seen. We were getting despondent. MrsF wondered if it had rolled down the hill. We decided to have a look a little further down before calling it quits. We were so lucky. The cache was there. Around 40 feet from where we thought it should be, lying out in the open. We retrieved it and replaced it in the obvious place.

After arriving back from Brisbane this morning I decided to collect a few caches around where I am currently staying.
Made my way down the slope and with the shoes I was wearing it wasn’t the most ideal spot to be walking, the cache we easily found.

A geocache with a history... As it is so old, we wanted to find it. On our way further south, we stopped here and signed the logbook. - Thanks for keeping this grandfather of geocaches alive! This is one of the hiding months in our statistics, which had been missing
This was my target cache for today...as I wanted to fill this date in my Jasmar grid...
Walked into the park with LiB and Davidwazza...
It was a pleasant enough stroll considering what was yet to come for us...
I had noticed reading the previous logs, as this was my cache of interest, it needed a new container so we carried one with us and replaced the container...placed the same logbook, which was still ok & the swag back into the new container...the CO can remove the Needs Maintenance attribute now...
Thanks for the cache and the adventure KarmicKev

Out caching with hevwalker & Davidwazza after the morning Cache Confusion event. After a yummy bakery lunch it was time to walk it off... and that we did. Down dale and up hill we went. This has been hev's targeted cache for some time, she even brought in a replacement container knowing it needed a little TLC.

I tagged along with hevwalker and LiB as they had planned for some hiking around Mitcham, parking in Ashby Reserve. The plan was targeting the Hills Hideway (sp.) cache due to its 2001 vintage, but then to collect caches around the area.
This was the first of the caches in the area, and the required old cache that hevwalker wanted to help fill her Jasmine grid. It turned out that I had already found an 06/2001 cache, but nevertheless, it was still good to find old caches.
I narrowed down to GZ, but no regular sized cache presented itself. It turned out that it was an obvious location 7-8 m away. The container did have cracks as previous logs had indicated, but hevwalker and LiB had come prepared with a replacement container. New container in situ, thanks Rachel, James and Kevin for placing and maintaining this oldie!

I went out this morning to find an anniversary cache north of the city. When I got home and went to log it I noticed this cache, which is also an anniversary cache but a good bit older and having its 18th birthday today. So, after a bite to eat I headed back out again, south of the city this time.
It was a pleasant, short walk to GZ from the car and the cache was quickly located. As per previous logs, the contents are dry but the container is broken and needs replacing if its going to make it to its next birthday.
Thanks Rachel, James and Kevin. for the cache.

I had a golf game nearby planned today, so took the opportunity to see what nearby caches I might be able to stop for that would fill gaps on my Jasmer grid. This was one of them.
I parked where I thought I was as close as I could get, but the walk to the cache was anything but easy, particularly after the golf round as I was already tired. The cache was found and was dry despite the container and bag both having some damage.
After logging the walk back to the car was also not easy, but it hurt so it must have been good for me.

Our second find of the afternoon, this well weighted down cache was soon found once I had done a bit of bushwhacking down the hill, lost pen on route somewhere so unable to sign log.------TNLN--------TFTC
After spending a night at Hahndorf caravan park and having a walk through the village (what a strange feeling to listen to Bavarian Volksmusik and seeing all that German stuff we meant to be around 15,000 kilometers away from) we went to Belair to visit a muggle friend of mine, which I met first time around 40 years ago on the way from Israel to Egypt. But for sure we had to do this old cache first, which was missing in our matrix. Thanks for looking after that cache and many greetings from Germany.
On our tour with a campervan through southeast of Australia minebine and me today drove from Hahndorf to Adelaide. On our way we had some old caches on our todo list. This was one of it. We parked our campervan near the gate uphill and headed down to the cache. After inspection of some bush we finally found it. Tahnk you for maintaining this Oldie.

Our next cache on the list as Eskies5 and I headed south towards Victor Harbor from the city. This one was added to the list because of its age and it filled a hidden month on both our calendars.
We pulled the car up and headed off, we soon questioned our decision on where we parked the car and decided to do another take on it. One of the best decisions we made today! Now with the car parked in the right spot we headed off to GZ both chatting about the better parking spot.
After reading a few logs we widened our search in hope to spot what we were looking for. I spotted something a little different a short distance away and headed over. We were in luck and soon our names were in the log book. TFTC Rachel, James and Kevin

Kestal and I are down from Qld for a dedicated geotrip to tick off some geo-goals...hidden months are top priority and we both needed to fill in this date. After a false start with one entrance that we soon discovered would require too much exertion with the temps nudging 30, we readjusted our location before a having a mostly leisurely walk to the hide. Quick found with Struep. Just too hot! Came back to the car very exhausted

I've had this one on my radar for a while and, as I was nearby today and in need of somewhere safe to deposit some TBs, decided to drop by. Quick easy find in a nice park. TFTC Rachel, James and Kevin!

This was another **oldie** we had chosen.
After a very pleasant walk we arrived within a few metres above GZ where the cache was quickly found.
After signing the log we headed back to the car looking forward to the next on our list.
Signed log HAZAP
Favourite point awarded for the view.
Thanks KarmicKev for the cache. [^]

Rookie mistake today.
A) forgot the water
B) trusted google maps for parking spot.
Needless to say I took the long way in and was dehydrated by the time I hit GZ
Quick sign as I found the cache about 10metrd from gz. But the incline and thirst may have contributed.
That’s is for the day. Home to my hotel now

Greetings from Brisbane . Having never visited SA before, a weekend trip to Adelaide was planned to see the sights and find some special geocaches you have hidden here.
Day 2: An early start was made to head into the Adelaide Hills before visiting McLaren Vale, Cape Jervis and then down to Victor Harbour. With a few hours of daylight left, I headed back into the city for a few more smilies, then climbed a hill to watch the sun dip below the horizon .
This was the first find of the day, and the walk was a great way to warm up on a cold overcast and windy morning (is this summer, seriously?!).
After a little searching, the container was soon located after spotting the SPOR.
Thanks for the placing and maintaining this cache **Rachel, James and Kevin.** it fills an empty spot on my Jasmer. Discover our TB
