#15491 - 12:59:00 PM; Day 14 of the great USA and Canada Road Trip with Sol de lune, and the first leg which has taken us from Minneapolis through to Washington DC, is nearly done with our arrival in DC last night. Today we are visiting Arlington National Cemetery before heading back across the river to the National Mall, where I collected this virtual. A magnificent memorial.Greetings from Australia and TFTC wv-explorers
Claimed this one both last night and tonight. It’s always an awe-inspiring place to visit, but I really love it at night! Also logging “An Englishman in DC.”
Awe inspiring place to be. Did the nighttime tour my first night in town for a conference. This was my favorite stop. Thanks for the virtual!!
A late night walk around the mall. Climbing the steps to see Abe's view was the highlight of the evening.
I would have come here anyway, but thanks for the virtual!

What an awesome day. The Reflection Pond was frozen over so we were able to stand on it and get pictures with the both the Washington Monument in the background and then the Lincoln Memorial in the background. These Florida girls thought it was really cool. Apparently a lot of others did too. Logged GC2657 as well. Over 30,000 steps on the Fitbit today. Lots of wonderful memories. TFTC

It was a freezing cold day and we were walking the mall looking at all the monuments and virtual hunting. The lake had frozen over and there wasn’t too many people at the monument early in the morning. Another monument I’d been really looking forward to seeing, made even more famous by Night at the museum! Pictures are attached to my log. Many thanks for the great old virtual! TFTC.
We had reached this point quite early in the morning so it was relatively free of people! It was bitterly cold but this did not stop our enjoyment! An awesome spot! TFTC.
Enjoyed the view and discovered a beauty in the inner santum. Later on I found another 4 virtuals. TFTC.
Marshall's Geelong found this cache today on our USA adventure!
Found this virtual while exploring some of the most famous sites in the US.

We were off to the USA and Canada for a few weeks of holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling around, and visiting the many different places and caches we came across
We continued our tour around on our bikes today, and we could not of course miss the Lincoln Memorial! We stopped by today, and took plenty of photos, and took the time to explore the details of the inside, instead of just grabbing a photo. A great spot here, we had perfect weather, and the views across the mall are well worth the effort [^]
TFTC wv-explorers, a fav point from us!

Even more impressive up close than from afar ... judging from the crowds here, this is an iconic landmark and memorial for Americans, possibly more so than any other in DC. I'm impressed!
Beautiful view indeed! Visiting D.C. with with whtwolfden on Our Geowoodstock Road-trip tftc!!!
Found while visiting with Whtwolf-Jen on our 24 state road trip on the way to Geowoodstock.
This was by far my favorite of all the monuments in the area. Thanks for giving us a cache to remember it by.

Stop 3 days during our trip to the east coast of the USA. We took the opportunity to do some caches.

Visited DC for a week with friends and toured LOTS of special places, but this view is the most breathtaking one and will stick with me forever.
Encontrado!

We had so much fun visiting Wash DC and this memorial was one of our favorites. The view from here is spectacular! We learned so much from all the virtual caches we found and enjoyed being able to find actual cache containers in such a busy, busy city. What a great place to cache!
17:00; used my weekend off in the US to do sightseeing & geocaching in D.C...
what a great view from this spot! it's well know by movies but to stand there in reality is overwhelming!
thanks for the cache!

Always one of my favs when in DC. Especially on a beautiful clear night like tonight. Thanks!
TFTC. Visited location. Wasn't sure if I needed to do anything but I guess not.
I always enjoy visiting Honest Abe when I'm in D.C., but this is my first time as a geocacher.

Of course one of the great places to bring the kid, plus, we could get a smiley. TFTC
We really enjoyed this geocache because all we had to do was have a good time. We grabbed 20 geocache today day that were earth, traditional amd virtual. Thanks for the virtual geocache.
What a moving memorial. Lots of tourists even though it was windy and cold today. Thanks for bringing me here.
This was the last day of our US tour and we really enjoyed this day. There are so many places to see. We were very glad about the weather, so Lincoln Memorial and the Refelcting Pool, but also Capitol Hill were even more impressive. Many thanks for this Virtual. Greeting from Germany
Finding a few virtuals while on a class field trip to DC. What a great memorial this is, and the view was spectacular this morning. This one is extra special, because we're from Spencer County, Indiana, which is where Lincoln spent his boyhood years. In fact, we live just a couple of miles from Lincoln State Park and the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. Thanks for a great virtual cache!
Such a special place with amazing emotion and scenery, even if the Washington Monument is under renovation. I haven't explored this area in nearly a decade so today has been very pleasant despite the rain showers.
Wish we had more time to visit everything there is to see in DC. The fall colors and nice temperatures made this a great day to wander around. TFTC!
This is definitely one of the most beautiful places in Washington, DC. The views from the highest point are unbelievable. It was too bad that one monument was having restoration work done so all the scaffolding around it ruined our pictures. Thanks for bringing us to this spot.
been to dc maybe 3 times in my life and this is always the first place i go to..there is some thing about this one place..to bad we don't have people like him around now days....thank you...
Found during our USA Holiday with fitzy_1965.

This is a retrospective log for when Gr33nslime and i visited the USA for 90 days in 2013. We had to come to Washington and visiting honest Abe was a must for us. We came through on a cool evening and took our time to walk through the many other monuments in the area. I was a pity the Washington monument was also closed, but also cool since we got to see a fox run by. What struck me about the memorial was even at the late time we strolled through, how full of people to was and the subdued reverence in which everyone admired the building. The quote from MLK in the steps was also a nice surprise and fitting given the year. A very worth while place to visit.
Certainly the easiest virtual on the Mall. Enjoyed my first visit to see Honest Abe....
Thanks for the cache wv-explorers.

Found while in the States on business all the way from the UK! TFTC and helping me explore Washington DC!
This cache is special, and anchors many important memories for this nation. Happy to take special note of it during the week that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. I will add my recommendation for a virtual geocache to go see the nearby "Everything Is Relative" (GC1B64). I am told you can stand in the constellation and whisper your secrets to Albert and hear him reply from multiple directions.
This is my favorite view in DC. TFTC Picture will be uploaded in the next couple of days.
Found it, bunch of prep work for March on Washington I didnt care for, seems to bring out the worst rabble rousers so it cheapens the display. Love this view whenever I am in town. Still one of the best TFTC BH55
Our crew just walked across from Arlington after logging The Other Unknowns cache there. Nice weather out and this spot had a lot of activity taking place in prep for MLK anniversary on Wednesday (tomorrow). Heading toward the Washington Monument and then probably call it a day. Nice day to visit DC. Didn't spend much time caching but just did some of the one's we could do without getting us too much off our route.
Well, These are hard times for an honest man - met with Abe on my tour through DC today, definitely one of my favorite spots! Worth a few pictures and a FP!
Don't remember the date when I was there so I will log it as now. Took a trip to WADC with my mom, cousin, and aunt. Great memorial. Nice etched walls.
Been here many times through the years ... decided to log this one today. Taken our kids to see Lincoln's Memorial too. Thanks!
Great and historic spot. We will send later some photo's
