Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are staying in Kingston SE for a couple of days, checking out the sights and the caches, of course. No wombats today, but we could see where they've been . Great to see the old logbook still in play. TFTC. LNCU
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Staying in Kingston for a few days to grab some finds. A chilly day but at least the sun is out. Saw plenty of evidence that wombats were about but didnt spot a single burrow. Ammo can had water ingress which we emptied and removed sodden mush at base. Secondary container is good. Thanks for the hide Hurtle. LNCU
Found this whilst on a weekend away for a camping trip with gridge98, we went to Kingston SE, Robe and Cape Jaffa. Thanks for the cache.
It was cool to come out to this oldie and make an easy find, the original log book is still here from 03 (21 years ago) having a read of the history that has become makes these special This weekend Courtneyrose_ and I headed away for a few days to Kingston S.E and surrounds for the local parkrun plus find a few caches and enjoy the weekend away. Thanks for the cache

I somehow managed to be lucky enough to win a great state voucher for $50 off accommodation. The idea being to put some money back into regional communities after the pandemic. Uni and Medusa and I went away for a caching trip around Kingston using the voucher to stay at the caravan Park. We spent lots of money on diesel and food so the voucher did it's trick.
We stopped and found this cache on the way. I logged a DNF on this back in 2007ish. Not sure how I couldn't find it as it's sitting right there. Great to see the original log book and with Uni having the FTF back in 2003 and seeing his own log again after all these years.

A trip to the South East with Featherwaite for a few days.
We had a great time and found a "few" caches along the way.
Any issues with a specific case will be in Featherwaite's log.

Found with Team Waldron during a trip to the south-east for a few days. On Day 1 we travelled via Meningie, the Coorong and Kingston SE to Millicent and Tantanoola. On Day 2, we toured around Glencoe and completed the STCL series, Colour by Song series, and the AooA series (and found any other caches along the way). On Day 3 we cached around Tarpeena then to Mt Gambier to do the Adventure Lab caches and down to Port MacDonnell. On the final day we completed the Honan Mint Trail and found the southern half of the Awaken and Live series before time got the better of us and we headed for home. Thanks for the cache Barry and Beryl (and of course Hurtle, for keeping these older caches going!).
Found after a short search, no wild life spotted today and this is a park I did not know about before leaving the highway at Salt Creek just to get this cache.
This was the second to last cache stop for the day, and a slight detour on the drive home from the Southeast. A nice walk along the track to GZ. After a short search I found the ammo box, which was half full of water because it is no longer water tight. I emptied out the water, and fortunately the plastic bag around the logbook had done its job and the logbook was dry.
A really nice location, and great to see an old cache still going.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Barry & Beryl and Hurtle.

Found today on a day trip out from our house sit in Murray Bridge..
A couple of circuits of the tree at GZ and bingo, there it was.
Opening the tin was no problem, as the hinge gave way in my hand. Contents inside are still in good Nick and I spent some time reading the old logs.
Have replaced where I found it with a couple of rocks on top which should keep the water out, however it might be worth replacing. I had a spare container which I've put inside the original to preserve the logbook, but the swag will have to take its chances.
Great spot! Saw wallabies, rabbits and even deer in the way in, but no wombats.

Who can resist a jolly good ol' Baz & Bez cache?
Not us, that's for sure.
We drove Neville to within 44 metres of the cache, but not knowing whether the ground before us had been undermined by rampant subterranean wombat activity, decided to not quite make this a drive-by.
Finding the cache proved difficult. I circled a couple of trees within the limits of the EPE, but came up with nothing. No army bucket, not even a pillowcase. Soon Mrs J joined in the hunt, and before you could say "I give up", there was the cache, right at my feet.
Reading back through the logbook was a real treat, with all the original logs from 2003 still there and readable. Team Unicycle's little drawings were a gem, and I wish i had taken a photo of them.
We did notice that the seal is deteriorating on the container, and a little bit of rust is making itself known within the interior. The logbook is dry, thankfully, but may need to be placed within an extra layer of protection sometime soon to protect it's historical value.
Thanks Barry & Berryl, and Hurtle.

A bit of a deviation on the road less travelled had us near GZ, but had to spend awhile looking for the box [B)]. Turned out, we'd been looking over it .
There were ants everywhere and it appears they have built a nest along the side lip of the cache .
TNLNSL.
It was a quick pack up and replace , then back to the main road.
Thanks Barry and Beryl.

Tftc. Bumming around finding things to do so stopped at this cache whilst doing the washpool track. With Team Crumble.
Driving around exploring the area and looking for wombats. Found some huge holes but no one was home. Nice big cache , thanks
Away down the Coorong for our Wedding Anniverary and headed out today to do some 4wding along the beach. Also to grab some caches! We saw lots of evidence that Wombats where present but unfortunately no actual Wombats. Nice big container, cleaned out all the rubbish that had been left in there from previous finders helping themselves to the swag but leaving the packaging. TFTC
Found it! Driving by and FunnyNose who found it a long time ago insisted we stop so I could find it. Thanks for the cache.

Our fourth and last caching day of our adventures around the lower SE.
Coming through this way at the beginning of our trip,
we decided to leave this one for the trip home.
CP & I left hevwalker & Mandy behind it being a Conservation Park
and walked the pleasant 400m to gz, then we had a fight with the ammo tin.
At one stage I thought the cache was winning, but somehow managed to manipulate it to work.
It was a hot & humid walk back after that, but a place I wouldn't have normally gone to if a cache wasn't here.
So thank you Barryd SA for placing a decent sized cache here

Found this cache with clare007 and hevwalker on an expedition to the south east! We had perfect weather on our trip …. Picking up some great Traditionals, multis and puzzles and a number of earthcaches. We also attended the Aussie Outback Event in Mount Gambier and local teams TT016 and Spanner111 took us on a nightcaching run!
We walked the last 400m. to the cache ...................... then spent ages trying (and eventually succeeding) to get it open. Contents were very musty and damp although the log was still ok. An adventure in pretty hot and humid conditions!!

Came out to get this one for date hidden matrix box has weathered shut and I couldn't get in tftc
At 13.20h we stopped here to have lunch. We had been camping on the Coorong. Cache container could do with some oil on the lid clip. Took - Nothing. Left - fridge magnet & silica gel sachets. TFTC - Unka Dave
Today there was not hairy a sign of any wombats, maybe they went on a holiday. LOL. With clear skies the views from near the cache were quite something to see. TNLN TFTC
The beauty of not being in a hurry to get anywhere in particular today, was that I could leave the highway traffic behind, and follow a quiet dirt road out into the countryside for a cache find
Nearing GZ, I reached the end of the road at a farm gate, and parked the geomobile.
Then hopped over the gate into the conservation park for a stroll to GZ
Too nice a day to drive !!
The cool breeze was refreshing, to say the least and I had me fingers crossed that one of those pesky showers of rain wouldn't get me in the next half hour
Wombat evidence is everywhere in here !!
Square Poo city !! [:o]
A very large wombat hole was passed at about the halfway mark, which led under the park boundary fence and into the neighbouring paddock !!
With a few metres to go to GZ, I wandered off into the scrub.
Nice views out over the lake from up here
And at GZ there was a nice view of a sturdy cache [^]
I haven't seen this type of ammo tin before, and it took me a few minutes to coax it open
But open it did !!
All good with this elderly geocache

Day two of my holidays, heading to the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas in SA. With a predicted top of an unusual 41° C, I chose to head to the coast for hopefully cooler temperatures. As it turned out, it wasn't much cooler, but a more scenic route. This was an enjoyable side detour on my journey. Found the cache without any trouble, but it took a little while to open the container, but got there in the end.
My thanks to Barryd_SA for the cache.
My thanks to Barryd_SA for the cache.
Free camping in Kingston, today we set off to see how many caches we could find in the Coorong that we missed a few weeks ago.
Beautiful weather not to hot not too cold, although apparently a storm forecast to arrive tomorrow. [xx(]
Great day to be out in the Geo Cruiser, so many great spots that were within our reach.
Very interesting and active spot here. Sadly we passed 4 dead wombats on the roads today.

What an interesting spot. 2WD was fine, but didn't chance it on the last 400m as a bit sandy and not a place to get bogged after rain. Wombat holes everywhere. Birds singing. An interesting cache out in the middle of nowhere. Found a trackable Travel Bug QGMB3P. Will take it to Adelaide and release tonight. TFTC
Number 101 for Makin Tracks! Kids love these bigger hides, nice area for a cache. TFTC
Aussie Mary was very excited about this cache but alas no wombats today. Nice quick cache just a little off the main road. Left a TB. TFTC.
After a great weekend at the Mount it was time for the GOTHS to head back to the hills. . Might as well make a day of it and cache along the way
Loved the sign on the way in. Quick find one the GPS settled. Thanks Barryd SA. Dropped in a TB.

Found this one while on a drive out from our campsite at Salt Creek. Great to find a BIG cache and in a picturesque location, too. We were on the lookout for snakes here today as the weather was quite warm. Thankfully we didn't encounter any. We didn't find any kangaroos on bikes either, lol (see pic).
found on our way home from Victor Harbour..nice drive 'right' to GZ..! thinking we would have a walk..??? no wombats today.! TNLN SL TFTC
Beautiful spot. Took a bit of hunting though TFTC
Just to add.... Cache is in fine condition and in a great spot.
We have been eyeing this one off for a year or 2, but we have usually been in a hurry by the time we get to Salt Creek.
Well worth the visit and we left a Superball and $100 bucks to encourage others to visit...!
Can you believe that....?!!??

This was a little interesting getting to gz due to seeing a wombat on side of road pull over to have a look and realise hmm its been hit poor thing so left. Got to gate to find closed so figured not to far well walk took a little longer then expected to find but we found it beautiful spot tftc
Nice walk to GZ, was a little bit confused to if anything was there, Taurus00025 finally found TFTC

~A local who was very concerned on where I was headed as he had been trying to catch poachers who have been shooting the deer on his land [:(!]
and....
~A closed gate so no driving for us today

TFTC . Were able to drive 4x4 style rather close to GZ. Found after much round -about turns due to overcast conditions, GPS was feeling ill! Spotted the same Blue Wrens and had great views of a Rufous Bristlebird. Maybe next time we will see the Wombats.
Found cache easily but the friendly bees were very active. Nice drive around Messent Conservation Park from Sandy View.

Quick find with some obvious wombat work nearby. TFTC

We changed the container for a square ammo box it is still quite large and we did restock it with some new goodies, we also took one of the TBs Bart to move along.
After dancing around the GZ dad found it. A little damp inside but not too bad. TNLNSL.
Easy access for this one even for a 2WD, cache is definately there. It certainly hasne't been eaten by a Wombat
Thought this one could do with some more traffic so left:
Bart TB,
Nintendogs TB,
Scooby TB, and
Mercy Me Mary TB
Took bouncy ball and left a pewter wombat charm.

Looked for about 20 mins, but I couldn't find it. Either I'm blind, or Barry has done some of his magic and made it disappear in a puff of wombat dust. But it's probably the former.
after we walked in on a hot day we noticed Tysonium's wheelmarks...I was wondering why there were no footprints!
It's the biggest cache I have seen.

What a great park this is, seen a heap of rabbits, roos and 1 wombat.Spent a few minutes looking for the cache then found it alongside a half eaten rabbit.Flys everywhere. This is a great cache container and if all caches were as waterproof as this the all will be good.
Could only drive the car a little up the track before pulling over and walking the extra 140m to the cache.
Thanks guys!!

Lots of wobat signs when I attended but no wombats.
Fantastis container. Pliers were starting to rust up in a closed position.
I opened them enought to get the job done and left them that way.
Hopefully they will rust in that position so other can get in.
Swapped out some velco ties with a magnetic board game.

Yup saw the Wombat mounds... Was to hot for the little critters to be out.. Left A TB that wanted to meet up with some dingos.. SL
Just love the container and the attached tool. Had me looking for ages as it blends well at the moment. Lovely peaceful surroundings until joined by a brasilian flies.
Glad that I had Setsujoku onboard as a gate monitor. Wandered around a bit but the coords were spot on. This is the first time that I have seen a container like this. No wombats that I could see but pleanty of rabbits.

Decided to check on the damp cache and found the contents to be very damp, we removed the container and replaced it with a much bigger waterproof metal ammo container, put the dry goodies back and added a whole lot of new goodies, we have left a pair of pliers there as the lid could become difficult to remove and the pliers will make that task much easier, please leave the pliers for the next person.
Have fun

After staying the night near 'Tilley Swamp' I drove through to this one and arrived in the early morning. Saw half a dozen kangaroos and a wedge tailed eagle on the way in and there were lots of birds around GZ but didn't see any wombats!
Cache was very damp so dried it as best I could.
rescued a fluffy butterfly before it moulds & left a bendy frog in its place (they like the damp) & an alloy keyring.

Drove to within 20 mtrs of this one, which was nice considering it was at 9 pm at night ! Wandered around in circles for a bit before finally finding it ! Didnt see any wombats tonight though
A pleasant walk from the gate to the cache - signs of wombats making a break for freedom under the wire fencing nearby. Lots of bird calls, and an echidna sitting in the middle of the access road ... curled up in a ball as soon as he realised he had an audience! Found the cache pretty quickly - the camo on the lid has mostly flaked off, so it's pretty obvious from the right angle. Took a ball puzzle, left a zip car and a spirit level. Thanks for bringing us here, Barry & Beryl.
Fantastic cache and a lovely spot. Saw some roos but no bats. Had visited here some years ago hunting for a potential site for Jupiter (but it was not quite the right distance). Took the T bag squeezer, and left a JS Bach CD. Humm along to these classics on your way to the next cache!!!
Clear skies, TeamAstro.
An easy find in a peaceful setting. Unfortunately didn't see much evidence of Wombats today. May have been the weather.

Found by Mary & David at 0915. A great start to the day with beautiful sunshine, blue sky and a Barry and Beryl nature ramble. Birds singing, plenty of roo tracks, but no wombats. Took keyring, left 2-piece art set (scissors and cutter). Thanks to Barry & Beryl.
Found this one just on dusk, it will have to be our last for the day. Gate was closed but we opened it & went in anyway.
The cache was right out in the open, possibly the wombat who lives in the hole right next to GZ has moved it.
Replaced it under cover at approximately the correct co-ordinates. (So our apologies if this makes it a little harder for the next finder.)

A short sidetrip found us in an area which we didn't know existed. The drive along the 4wd track left us within 50mtrs of GZ. A quick search located the bucket. Took the box of chalk and left some snap cards. Thanks Barry & Beryl - thats 2 of your caches for this weekend.
