I normally shy away from doing multis like this as it is the same as finding 6 caches for one smiley but on this occasion I needed a find for a cache hidden in August 2003. After a tour around historic places in Clunes gathering information and getting a step closer to the final GZ it was then time for the search. A very unpleasant GZ confronted me with thorns and undergrowth doing battle as I searched. Eventually after 25 minutes the cache was in hand and the log signed. It was an interesting and educational tour and a challenging find so a favourite point has been awarded. I have just noticed that it is this cache's birthday today..... how coincidental.

That was an epic and informative Multi giving a really great history lesson about Clunes!! We were out as a family for Old Man Monsters Birthday collecting a few caches around Clunes and Creswick. Old Man Monster got all the information at the waypoints but the family all searched for the cache at GZ. The two youngest Monsters quit fairly quickly and Mrs Monster and I kept searching. After Mrs Monster went down one more level, she quickly had the cache spotted!! You just need to be at the right level and we did find it around 5-6 metres from the calculated coordinates. TFTC!!

Tftc was definitely a difficult one came out with some cuts and bruises spent a while looking for it nearly gave up till I spotted it last second definitely enjoyed finding it (I would like to add be very careful of all the thorns/bushes around)

Didn't find it today. Sooo much debris and thorns. I searched the area for ages, but only came out with dirty and torn clothes. Maybe a hint with what we are looking for. Hanging, sistema box, etc

This multi can only be described as a mongrel. Very over the top having to get co-ords for every stage, not to mention having to Google one answer because the necessary information is missing. And then to top it off, one has to scramble to an unneccessarily difficult overgrown thorny location to hopefully find a cache buried in the mountains of leaves and briar bushes. The difficulty and terrain ratings don't reflect the nature of this multi in our opinion. We gave it considerable time and effort at great expense to skin and temperament, but to no avail !

We thoroughly enjoyed this multi, but when we got to GZ, the terrain, 40 degree heat, and overgrown prickly bushes defeated us. I love my husband more than a find, so I got him to retreat. Still a lovely experience, so thank you.

This old Multi was a bit hard to find with me having to go down and into the thorns a bit more than I liked but found it in the end with tin sheet to left of me and rocks to right (clowns to left of me jokers to the right) With all the GeoTour now done everything was a bonus from now on so the pressure was off and we just enjoyed the day from now on.Sometime ago myself and gooseandegg had looked at the idea of doing one of the GeoTours in Australia but due to finders losing the attributes and maybe even the souvenir I wasn't about to go out of my way to search out a GeoTour, upon hearing that finders would retain the attributes and souvenir for the Ballarat GeoTour this changed things and plans were made to head specially to the Ballarat area.We flew out of Hobart on Thursday night after work and after a night staying near the airport we were picked up early by honorary Tasmanian 1Toolman, we spent the next two days searching out all the GeoTour and some choice old or special geocache in and around Ballarat, on Sunday morning we just had time to call at GemmaSistemas event out at Miners Rest before turning tail and dashing for the airport to get on my first ever Rex flight back to Hobart, even landing early at 1307.Found on 27/01/2024 at 18:00:00 thanks to GemmaSistema for placing this cache for me to find. I'm not sure if I am the clown or joker in SSRs log. I'm going to guess joker because the toolman is more of a clown! What a stunning town! I loved exploring here. Thanks to maccamob placing another nice old multi and to GemmaSistema for keeping it alive. After finishing the Ballarat Geotour we decided to tackle some caches around Mt Beckworth. We didn't know how far up we'd get, or how many caches we could get to but we were quite pleased with ourselves in the end.I spent the Australia Day long weekend in and around Ballarat with 1TOOLMAN and stainless steel rat to do the geotour. We found them all plus most other caches from our short list of around 70 caches.

We spent today in Clunes cleaning up our unfound caches. We noticed this old multi and it was immediately on our must do today list.

We made our way around the town doing AdLabs, finding traditional caches and collecting information for this multi. Finally we had all we needed and took our selves to GZ. This didn't look right. A recalculation and we found our mistake and arrived at a spot that matched the comments of recent finders. Mrs y'stassie walked along the road and identified a possible entry spot. She noticed that many of the corky elm suckers had been cut back recently but the thick Briars were untouched. She was glad that she had come prepared.

In 2022 a caching slip left her with a badly damaged shoulder and unabled to work in her garden. Her dear family came to her assistance by buying her some battery operated secateurs. These rapidly became her right hand tool. While in Adelaide with our son she pruned today she saw the need to prune again. As she made her way down she carefully removed some of the thickest and most prickly briars. Finally she was able to make her way to the published coordinates where she used her walking pole to locate and extract the cache from its hide. She then completed the loop and made her way to the safety of the car park.

Thanks maccamob for the development and placement of this multi. Thanks also to gemmasistema for taking care of it. her journey through the briars took Mrs Y'stassie to her childhood in the 1950's when her family cut a trailor load of hip baring briars so children from the local school could pick the hips which were made into vitamin C rich syrup that was given to mothers when they took their children to the health clinics.

Container and contents were in very good condition. It pays to be prepared. See the attached photo.

Got to GZ, know exactly where but not prepared to tackle the roses today

17-Jun-23
Last one for the day after exploring the area north of Clunes before stopping here for lunch and giving this one a go. WP's were all good, although Mr Google did take a bit of time to help me out where it was required. Once the last WP was visited I was off to GZ. Parked across the road and wandered over to check it out. Had read the logs, but it still didn't prepared me for the blackberries and other thorns. Not doubt that has all grown a lot more since the cache was placed. Anyway, I bit the bullet and drove in...if you know what I mean. Luckily the cache was found in about the 4th or 5th place I checked, so all was good. Log was signed, then it was back to the car and the drive home.

Thanks for the historical tour maccamob...a very interesting town to spend a bit of time. Fav point for that.

This was my target cache for my Easter camping extra long weekend in Creswick. After packing up Zeus and the kids headed home while I spent an indulgent day caching by myself. I really enjoyed visiting all the WPs and doing the calculations to get to the next one. GZ must have been so different when this cache was first placed! I forgot my secateurs but I was covered in long pants and sleeves. I was pretty painful getting to GZ and I was thrilled to make a quick find once I was through the roses and blackberry thorns.

02-Jan-23
Managed to get to GZ after the informative multi clues but were beaten back by the blackberry/wild rose bushes. To ad insult to the many injuries the back of my shirt found all the prickles from a prickle bush while my socks found the rye grass seeds. Clearly I’m getting soft but it was hot today and shorts wasn’t the best choice here. Ha.

Saw a very nifty shelter but couldn’t get near it for a closer look.

Will be back with snippers next time to avenge the DNF. Ha.

After a huge day on Mt Beckworth, catnap777 and I had crawled back to our camp in Clunes, freshened up and hit the town for every cache we could get our greedy mits on. Twisted
Next morning we did it all over again on the northern half of Mt Beckworth before coming back to Clunes and doing this last multi in town. Cool
We were sure glad we saved this golden oldie for daylight hours as it meant we could actually see all the places around Clunes that the other caches had taken us to, and it also made picking our way through the prickly flora at GZ a bit easier. Red Face

TFTC D&M. We look forward as always to seeing you both at the next event. Big Grin

Found and signed with dalerious on a weekend getaway caching in Clunes and Mt Beckworth Big Grin.
As we had previously undertaken all the other caches in Clunes at night, we wanted to do this one in daylight hours as we knew we would be visiting points of interest we wanted to see during the day, as we had previously seen them at night.
The reoccurring theme to my logging of the Clunes caches is the fact of the lack of street lighting in this town, so not much could be seen by night of the town, or it's highlights.
All the answers were gleaned for this superb multi, and the only issue was traversing the wild roses to get to gz. Once there thought, after a few choice words were muttered as we fought our way through, we found a nice dry container, the log was signed, and off we went.
Thank you maccamob for this wonderful multi Big Grin.

I just loved this tour of old clunes collecting a large number of clues and enjoying the sights and information. The final is in great condition and was a little overgrown but not terrible unless you tackle it the way i did. Thanks for the fun.

09-Nov-21
We collected all the information and ended up at GZ, which is a real prickle patch. I put on more protective clothing and searched for the cache. Then I realised that the vegetation had somehow removed my pen from my pocket. Took my spare pen from my rucksack and it would not write, so I resorted to a photo. Hope that is OK.

We have to admit that we did the research for this one all from home, using old bushwalking/walking photos and on line research.
Victoria is currently on its 4th Covid 19 lockdown.
However we are from Regional Victoria and fortunate enough to be allowed to travel around Victoria and still partake in caching.
Today we attended the tree maintenance CITO at Scotchman’s Lead.
We then continued on in 2 separate cars to deliver our spare to Mrs Riddells sister. (Her car came to grief with a kangaroo, and she is an essential worker)
We were passing though Clunes so it was a great opportunity to retrieve this cache.
A brand new cache rewarded us after we had a mild tussle with some vegetation. Happy to find it in the first place we looked.

Found by Rebel Acts

With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.

Today I headed to Creswick where i visited several old mining sites, so much history in this area to learn.

This was one of the caches I found in My travels.

Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

Today was the day Brad had planned to do the challenges in the Mt Beckworth area. However spending the previous evening in St John of God Hospital ED meant that today's activities have had to be curtailed somewhat.

As we were staying in Clunes (Janet has around 70 ancestors in the cemetery!) this 2003 maccamob multi was a must. A fun tour of the town and hostoric areas. At GZ the thorns are still present. And a second trip through them was necessary when Brad got back to the car only to find he had dropped his phone at GZ! At least it was found quickly Smile

TFTCC maccamob Smile

Brad&Janet are on a two week trip from Adelaide to the Victorian High Country. While this is not primarily a caching trip there are a few specific targets along the way. Including a challenging remote area unloved puzzle cache placed in 2014 and never previously found.

Omeo will be the initial base. Brad has ridden his bike through the high plains region a couple of times while doing the Three Peaks Challenge, and is looking looking forward to exploring by 4WD this time.
On the way home the plan is to visit Yackandandah and the Nine Mile Creek Historic area and also Mansfield and the surrounding region. Then spend some days in and around Bendigo and Clunes so Janet and her sister can research their ancestors who lived there in the mid 1800s. Brad may take the opportunity to visit the Ballarat Geotour while the research is happening.

We enjoyed the historical tour despite the odd arithmetic snafu. Finally after a fact check with the CO to be sure where we were going it was a brief fight with the thorns (wild roses I think) to find the cache. TFTC.

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
After such a big day yesterday the plan was to a have a bit more of a relaxing day and take it as it comes.
After driving through Clunes on the way up I headed back down for some lunch and to find a few around here.
The last time I was in Clunes I was chasing the Mad Max series of caches.
This was the last one in town and it gave me the most trouble as one of the waypoints had scaffolding up and was wrapped in shade cloth and also a lot of tradies around.
I sent out a call for help and was rewarded with the answers to keep me moving on.
I got to the last waypoint did the calculations and off to GZ.
After searching in a quite a few spots both up and down and gaining a lot more scratches I eventually spotted the cache, added my name to the log and now lets see how many more I can find today a bit more of a relaxed pace. (But so much for relaxing on this one)
Another golden oldie that I have come across on this trip.
Thanks maccamob and GemmaSistema TFTC.

Find #4496
Multi Find #383**

I headed out with Steve on our first caching run since before the second lockdown. Ballarat, Mount Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick were our targets for today. I have been wanting to find this cache for a number of years because it is old and it fills August 2003 in the Ausmer Challenge for me, the last month I needed to fill for that year. Long trousers and a long sleeve shirt were required here because the plants had grown a lot and many bore thorns and prickles. I made my way to where my GPS pointed and gingerly moved branches searching for the cache but to no avail. After around ten minutes, Steve found the small container around 3m from where I was searching. Very happy to have my name in the log book.

**Thank-you to GemmaSistema for placing this geocache**

A Sunday visit to tue beautiful historic town of Clunes, with the words 'booktown' drawing me in. Perfect weather and the area seemed to be thriving. Time pressed but couldn't go past an old Maccamob cache!

After exploring the local area gathering information, we were directed back to an area we had driven past before. Down we went and the search began. Now I have a bad luck streak with MM hides - always so tricky to find! So it was scrambling, getting jabbed by prickles, we both fell over, me landing on my back on a rock. After 30min, reading past logs and 2 PAFs we finally managed to find! Wow that was a search and a half. Great multi that highlights this town, thanks!

Future finders, no need to climb or scramble! Apart from getting to general GZ.

Some very scenic locations were visited in order to find this cache. How cool is Clunes! A town that runs on books - now I can get behind that. So after the book shopping and a lunch break the hunt for caches resumed. This initially was a scenic spot but then it turned into a bit of a torture chamber as the thorns and rocks and sticky sap made the hunt for the treasure very difficult indeed!!!!! Still have the scratches a week later. Ah well. Part of the adventure and the cache was eventually found after a PAF. TFTC

On a visit to this "must visit towne" today,
this cache was on the agenda Razz
Especially because it was hidden before I even started finding caches !! [:o]

Add to that the fact that I haven't visited Clunes before,
and discovered what a wonderful place it is,
and this tour was a delight [^]

Right up to the final stop Razz
Oh yer gotta be kiddin' me !! [:o]
"In there eh ??"
Off I goes Razz
OUCH !!

OUCH !! That plants got thorns the size of nails !!

Despite 20 minutes of lookin',
and fighting the scenery,
I couldn't find this cache Sad
I know I'm in the right area though !!
Somebody's been here before me and squashed a lot of the grass underfoot Smile

So I kept looking,
but from a different direction.
OUCH !! OUCH !! OUCH !! [:o]

Just about to give up,
when I saw what I thought might have been somebody's mobile phone that they might have dropped Smile
It was the lid of the cache Big Grin

*Found on the 15 Nov 2019 @ 8:12 am.*
*Cache find # 10072.*

While on my way to the St. Arnaud mega event, I stopped by this cache for a look.
Well this took a little longer than first expected, it was certainly a great tour around the town of Clunes for all the different waypoints, at GZ I was starting to get a bit worried that it was all for nothing as I wasn’t finding the cache but finally I looked in the right spot and there it was, log was sign and it was time to get back to the road to St. Arnaud.

**Thanks to maccamob and for placing this cache and Gemma for looking after it.**

Find #2265 for me. Found at 11:15 am while on my way from Bendigo to Ballarat with the kids. Well, this cache has certainly taken me a long time to complete! I actually started it in January 2017 and have been working my way through each of the waypoints each time I passed through Clunes (which isn't that often) ever since. A couple of weeks ago I obtained the final piece of the puzzle which I attempted to complete last Sunday but failed after spending about half an hour poking around GZ but finding nothing even after a couple of PAFs. In contrast today I made a quick find, spotting the cache in the first place I looked. I have no idea how I could have missed that last week but sometimes I do suffer from severe cache blindness so it doesn't surprise me. But ultimately that doesn't matter at all because today I had the success I was after! Thanks for taking me on this wonderful historical tour of Clunes maccamob and Gemma (noting that the ownership of this cache has changed since the time I started my journey) and thanks for the cache!

I dropped by here on my way to Ballarat hoping to make the final find, but this one was too good for me today. I spent nearly 30 minutes here before finally giving up as time was getting on and I had to get to Mum's for lunch. Great final location though! Thanks for the hunt so far maccamob and Gemma!

Bloody sore knees Twisted[:(!] meant that I couldn't drive up to the Wollongong Mega Sad so a shorter caching trip was required since my leave had been approved for the purpose of geocaching RazzBig Grin

A day trip to and from Mt Beckworth was planned Smile but with the wet weather and soreness[xx(], it became a two day trip with an overnight stay in ClunesCool[^]
After a brief visit into the clouds and rain at Mt Beckworth on Sunday afternoon with a couple of finds Smile and then a VERY smelly Rex who rolled in something dead[xx(][:(!][xx(] it was decided that a warm sleep was required after a dog wash and so Clunes became the night camp[^]
Getting into the key safe at the motel was harder than most puzzle cache padlocks Razz I had to hang up on the manager, get the headtorch and concentrate to get the key Wink (Backup plan was that the kindly manager would come to rescue me if needed!) [^] Thus ended Sunday with tea being pistachios, dried coconut and apricots while lying on a motel bed [|)]

Monday morning was chatting with a lovely local woman (who has a Lab and a Beagle - rescue dogs) and having her watch me replace the first attempted cache (with CO's permission) while dodging the local 'politician's' who were cheery as while getting ready for the NAIDOC week flag raising. The local lady ended up putting me on the phone to her hubby SurprisedBig Grin Poor man was being passed around a bit as he also had to contend with being handed over to a 'politician' tooRazz

After the 1st cache find was on the board, a great 'Shearer's Breakfast' was had at the Quigley & Clarke Cafe - Restaurant (and wishing I could have stayed for their tea that night as the menu looked delicious and was 3 courses for $30!) then it was time to cache Clunes and enjoy the scenery and sights! Cool[^]Smile

Finally it was back to Mt Beckworth for another late afternoon trip in and out with another couple of finds Cool as the sun set before heading for home[|)] A new email on the way meant a detour towards Harcourt and a new cache was found (to make my 3rd FTF for the trip) Smile then it was a foggy trip home to end a short but pleasant cache trip with a total of 16 cache finds Smile [|)]Smile

Have I said that I like multis as they are usually interesting, doable and often even educational [?][^][:X]Cool
This one was fun Smile and educational and even more hilarious when Rex decided suddenly that the object I was looking for was scary... hence he had to bark and growl to intimdate it so that it didn't hurt him Surprised[?]RazzBig Grin A stone cairn is soooo dangerous, you know! RazzWinkBig Grin

Arrived at GZ and hesitated as OMG, really[?]Twisted[?]
Sore knees, slippery slopes, rocks and spiky hell which I needed to descend into... all while on my ownTwistedSad
Although being on my own may have been better than having a mountain goat of a dog with me as he wanted to stand where I needed to be, jump around from rock to rock just to distract me and generally get in the way!! WinkRazzBig Grin
Being the good geocacher that I amRazz, naturally I took the hardest Twisted route in and the easy Smile route out after I found the cache, too WinkBig Grin

Mission one for the day was cache our way to the Event in Ballan. Mission two and three involved caching our way to Ballarat then caching our way to clues all to complete my hidden date calendar. With all missions completed we decided to clear out Clunes turning all the nearby caches to smiles.
Ausfox; had previously DNF'd this but he it had been replaced since then so we were hopeful in making a find here. At GZ both Ausfox; and myself had over looked the cache as we were hunting. Neville_devil took full opportunity to rib both of us for not spotting the cache as we passed by. Payback was definitely being taken that is for sure.

Thank you maccamob for placing this cache a GemmaSistiema for keeping it going

The plan today was to make our way through the B's & C's today starting in Ballan, Ballarat, Clunes, Creswick then back to Ballarat grabbing a variety of great caches along the way in the company of Simsfamily and Neville Devil.
I'd tried to locate the final about two years ago with no success so today being familiar with the area this time but it was ND that made the find and let us know about it.
Clunes is an interesting town with a variety of history.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache Maccamob and GemmaSistema for adopting and maintaining the hide.

After setting up camp at Mt Beckworth, we found a couple of caches in the park then headed to Clunes for ice creams. It was definitely warm but not too hot so we decided to walk around and do this cache and a couple of others whilst in town. We got the the third WP and resorted to a PAF (as we didn't read past where we were up to) to get this clue. As it had warmed up quite a bit, we headed back to the cars to finish this one off. Once the coords were worked out, a nice quick find was made. Thanks for the tour. We always appreciate learning about a new area. Thanks also for the cache.

Found while spending the day with pprass and Xambo4u before camping overnight at MtBeckworth tonight.
After a morning of 4wding and bushwalk it was time for some refueling of the lunch kind so in to Clunes we all went.
Xambo4u and myself were pretty keen to do this one and as pprass had found it previously he was happy to be our chauffeur.
There was lots of friendly banter and ribbing about our memories, navigation and maths skills while we were collecting all the clues but somehow we managed to come up with a GZ. Even during our search we were having a good laugh and then finally pprass had a lightbulb moment and the cache was found at last.
Thx maccamob for a really good multi showing us these interesting areas of Clunes. And good to see another old cache still in play. FP from me for the tour and the laughs.

TFTC. Over a period of two weeks we had collected the required information. When we first explored GZ on our way to Melbourne on Saturday we could not locate the prize. I came our a bit scratched and bloody from the thorns. We contacted the CO and she confirmed we were in the right location and provided a photo of GZ. On our return on Sunday we made a slight detour, found GZ and nope it was missing. CO asked us to provide a replacement , which we did as I was on the way to Ballarat this afternoon. All good to go and we get the smiley face after an historic tour of Clunes.

Clunes has some beautiful buildings. Driving through older country towns for the past few days has made me realise that we don't take as much pride in our buildings as our ancestors did. Thank you for taking me on a trip through the town. Of course, I went the prickly wrong path to ground zero, but it's me, that's to be expected. Upon finding the cache I was surprised at its newness! Thank you for maintaining it over the years. TFTC GemmaSistema

I've never been to this lovely town before, thanks for bringing me here! I saved the details in Cachly in case there'd be reception issues, but I didn't download offline maps. I also couldn't google the answer to WP3 and the library wasn't open, but I was really enjoying this multi. I hope I'll be back to finish this

Hoping that my numbers were correct. After a search I re read logs and decided that I was in the correct place as a few scratches were appearing. Spotted it once I returned to the car to pick up a scratching tool.
Didn't need it as it turned out as I spotted the nice new container from this new direction.
Thanks for the tour around the district today.

We headed around town picking up info as we went. I really enjoyed the places we went to. Tftc

After coming back through from the Talbot market we decided we had time for this one. Sean.75 had previously done this one, so it was good to have help in case we stuffed up coords (nothing new for me at all). We sailed through it all smoothly and found Gz without issue. Thanks for the multi (woohoo! 1 more to go until I have finished the challenge). Tftc

Out at Booktown Today! After a nice tour of the area this one was found safe and sound. A few scratches to show for it. Thanks for placing maccamob.

Found with MazzyMay on a caching day. This one took us on a little tour of the town, it also gave us practise using the new app on a tablet. Interesting old places, then the final. Double checked our figures, but yes, that is where it is. Took a lot of searching as the GPS didn't help much while we were actually close by, but luckily GZ was finally spotted and we could claim the find. Picked up a few scratches and prickles finding this one. Gave it a favourite nevertheless as we did enjoy ourselves. TFTC

Wow, what a fantastic multi. SciFiRulz and I had a ball compiling all the information required, reading up on each stage and generally learning about the area. Come the GZ, not very far from one of our throw away comments at one of the points of interest. Quite a challenge for this old lady but after some clambering around the area, some attacks received from the local flora, cache in hand signed and delivered to it's home again. Thanks for the journey, most enjoyable. Fav Pt

A DNF here today for us after searching and searching some more as we made the final destination. We were worried about we the GPSr wanted us, but with three of us we hoped that we would make enough noise to scare off any snakes. We evened PAF'd and still had no luck. Thanks for the hunt.

Joined up with Na'wal and DAB to spend the day caching around Ballarat and Mt Beckworth. I'm glad we stocked up with fluids as as the temperature soared.
We searched for far to long in every nock and cranny for this one, ended up covered In Scratches with no find. DNF

Thanks anyway for the cache maccamob

Back inDec 2010 we had a great time walking around Clunes on a very hot afternoon collecting the required information before heading off to gz where after quite a lengthy search we came up empty handed. Today coming back from the St Arnaud events with the cache owner, The Coffee's & Micaparamedic we stopped here and maccamob showed us where it was hidden while they did a maintenance check.
It was in the same area that we search last time but obviously we just didn't look hard enough.
Many thanks maccamob for a great cache made even better by finding it in your company.
We took nothing but left a favourite point.

In the company of teams with vital knowledge we found this cache today
With cries of found and and "NO", and "dont" the cache was found and logged.
Our thanks to Maccamob for the cache

Having spent a weekend of visiting rellies and attending dinner engagements in Melbourne, we decided to cache our way home the long way, picking up one or two at each town along the way. Nearly home, but we actually ended up staying in Clunes overnight after calling in to see friends at the pub - but that's another story!!

But back to the cache. This was a terrific multi that took us all around Clunes and the final location was fantastic. Took us a little while to find the cache and our PAF had just answered the phone when Chunk called out "found it". Good to see this cache standing up to the test of time. Left McAdies Duck Dash trackable. TFTC maccamob and a favourite point for the fun we had in doing it and for the final location.

Passing through the area on my way home from a work visit to Maryborough and needed a short walk to stretch my legs.
Even in the drizzling rain this was an enjoyable journey around town. Now I need to come back to enjoy a slightly longer stay in this beautiful little town. Thanks for the journey.

TFTM. An excellent multi just the way I like them, plenty of Waypoints of interest and a good walk to cap it all off. Though I must admit, we drove to Waypoint 5 as Jaggedwings and I did some pretty bad arithmetic from Waypoint 4 and ended up on the complete opposite side of town so we had to pass the car on the way back. The final location is very nice and I nearly made the grab before Jaggedwings as she was busy wrestling with a rose bush that seemed intent on eating her. (Little Shop of Horrors, anyone?) Thanks for another fabulous history lesson here maccamob.

Back in the Ballarat and surrounding area for another day's caching with my good mates the Suscoe Cachers who invited the ageing Bushfire to accompany them on a caching day north of this fair city.
I have been up this way once before but a long time ago and had forgotten just how many mines were in the area.
It pays to keep all your old workings because on our last visit it was missing but it is great to see this old cache still up and running and in very good condition but then it is owned by a legend of our great activity who takes great pride in placing caches and then maintaining them. Well done.
On arrival the well hidden container was soon located, signed, a quick look at the view and we were off to the next on the list.

What better way to spend Boxing Day caching rather than dealing with the hundreds of bargain hunters shopping in the frenzy of post xmas sales! We decided to head north to clean up unfound caches as far as Tullaroop Reservoir in the company of Wozzle68. We previously had a dnf on this one, with cold winds whipping around us we searched for ages without any luck before finally giving up before we froze to death. Today though we noticed the cache had been replaced not so long ago , so we thought we would give it another shot. Sending the nimble Triton to do the search Wozzle68 and I soon heard the cry "i've got it"! So much to our relief we now can log asa find.
Thanks maccamob for showing us around this lovely small town and for the views.

A much cooler day today for a Boxing day clean-up of some of the caches north of home. After a DNF in September of 2000 we were glad to get our names in the log of this great multi today. Thanks for the effort put into this cache maccamob, we enjoyed it.

We were a bit bored today so thought we would head out to find the new ones close to home in Clunes. Some nice quick finds in interesting spots we'd never been before...and then there was this one.
It took us quite a while to locate (being in thongs didn't help) and Mum had to throw out her pants as the sap wouldn't wash off her bum. Haha TFTC maccamob

28-Nov-15
A lazy day today so Mum decided that we should get out and about. Gemma had been busy in Clunes leaving us with some new closest un-found caches so we figured we should head this way. We converted the town to Smilies again, discovered some new places and took a big detour home to grab a few extras. TFTC!

I'd been sitting just 9 caches short of 700 since Melbourne Mega so with a free arvo and husband at cricket, we thought we would head off to complete the new caches in Clunes. We left later than planned & only managed 7 but we had a great arvo discovering some places in town that we had not really visited despite being so close to home.
We hadn't planned to do this one after reading the previous logs in regards to terrain. We were all in thongs...
We had collected most of the co-ords one at a time (We're generally in a hurry on our way through Clunes on our way to Ballarat etc) and had grabbed the last one missing from a friend.
We decided to just check it out. Of course once there, we were only 15m away so down we went in our thongs. (For the record, I did try and tell the Geo-kids to stay up the top but they over-ruled. Haha)
Anyway, GPS was jumping around as you would expect in this area and we mimicked mountain goats moving up and down, 20 minutes later I was covered in sap, spiderweb, sweat with multiple puncture wounds from the prickles but we finally spotted the elusive cache hidden extra well by the previous hider. Turns out the GPS had taken much further in than required!
Very glad to pop a smiley on this one, it was our 2nd closest un-found cache (the closest is currently unreachable).
TFTC maccamob!

Found It!
I had 15mins to spare before the nearby event so I decided to work through this multi while I was waiting. Well 6 waypoints later and I was now 30mins late for the event (and I got lost on the way to the event). That said, I have now seen every part of this town which prior to today, I didn't even know existed!

Find No. 967. Found at 4.00pm with FUF009.

Went for a drive to Creswick to do some caching. FUF009 came along with us and we also took our geodog Penny.

We had two missions for the day to complete - one was for the Geocaching Road Trip and the other was to help a TB out (that FUF009 had in his possession) on its mission of returning home.

Have been to Clunes on several occassions but was totally unaware that there was an area such as this to overlook the town from. A bit prickly but did not deter us to locate the hide.

Took coloured frog. Left blue boy pirate eraser.

Find # 2305 # 1600 H

After a day in Creswick with Tyred n Cranky and their dog Geo Penny.
2 missions for the day to complete, one was for the Geocaching Road Trip and the other was to help a TB out on its mission of returning home.

I had gotten the info for this one and with info from google to help out we were soon amongst the prickles and sticky pines. Mr Tyred n Cranky and myself were on the hunt. and after a few minutes I was almost ready to give up when I caught the slightest sight of white plastic. Woo Hoo got it, a great way to end the caching day.

I was with taurus1955 for this one. Enjoyed the time around Clunes and got to GZ but could not find that elusive cache. The prickles and rocks must have been hiding it very well.

We enjoyed our geo-tour of Clunes today. We hadn't been here before (that we could remember), and we loved seeing all the beautiful old buildings, fuelled by gold money and with more architectural vision than most built these days. We got to GZ, and with some tentative steps through the long grass, the snake stick came in useful for good reasons: it revealed the cache. Thanks for another fantastic multi, Maccamob.

Sully had done a lot of the groundwork here, so I thought it would be my job to wind my way through all the thorns and rocks. As is often the case, it didn't help me a bit to be first, and when Sully casually strolled right up to a spot, fiddled around, and called "Got it", I was relieved to have finally crossed this one off.
My thanks to Maccamob for the effort placing this one

This cache has been on my radar for many, many years. I remember starting at WP1 about 6 years ago with sullyjunior, and we never finished it at the time. Today was the day, at last. When Bogonghazy and I finally arrived at GZ, he was quick to the spot, and I took my time, hoping he'd call it before I worked my way through the roses and prickles. After reading the previous DNF's I wasn't holding out much hope of us finding this one. Alas, luck or my caching angel was on my shoulder, as I spotted the cache in the very first place I looked after arriving within 1 metre of the co-ords. Many thanks to maccamob, for a Multi that has taken me many years to finish. Cheers, adding a fave for the history, and the fact I've finally been able to tick it off. Big GrinBig Grin

Enjoyed visiting the different waypoint to find the information although it is a shame about waypoint 3 info being missing. Eventually got to the final pint to look for cache and sent our resident monkey Chris of The_Tritonz into the maze of prickles when he came out a half hour later without finding the cache we were quite disappointed. Sad a great multi otherwise thanks.

30-Sep-14
We decided on doing this one today while in the area caching with Wozzle68, we had a great time exploring the town and seeing the areas we never would have even thought to see, we got to GZ and after looking for easily half a hour we came out empty handed, thanks for showing us these cool spots.

Thanks to LouiseAnn for alerting us to the missing plaque at WP3. You can still find the required answer by consulting the Google oracle.

08-Jun-14
Found with LouiseAnn at 3:22:00 PM.
LouiseAnn came up with a list of old caches to fill a few gaps in her "Finds by hidden month" stats and several more in the equal stats of mine. We had a long but great day in Central Victoria locating almost all the caches we set out to look for, and we ended the day at LouiseAnn's parents place with a nice dinner.

This was my fourth cache for the day. We collected the needed information around town, and although one step was not straight forward, we managed to calculate the final coords. After a short drive we headed out into the prickly bushes to collect the cache. The GPS took us a bit all over the place, but in the end LouiseAnn located the cache and we got to sign the log.

Thanks for the cache maccamob! As previous logs indicate, I think the terrain raiting could be increased.

08-Jun-14
We picked this cache up at 3:19pm. After a little hiccup at waypoint 3, I was worried we weren't going to be able to find this cache. I was even more worried when I saw where the GPS was point us too when we got to the final location, but rose bushes and other prickly plants were not going to stop us finding this cache today and after an extensive search I was able to locate the cache!! I was impressed and I don't think I left too much of my long hair attached to plants in the area.

Ostara74 and I spent a pleasant day touring Central Victoria picking up a small number of old caches. We traveled far, saw nice things and filled in quite a few gaps on Ostara74's placed months calendar. We finished the day with dinner at my parents, phew that was 12 hrs well spent.

Thanks for the cache and the series maccamob.

Completed in two parts a few days apart. Lovely autumn weather to oversee this hunt through the various legs of the multi cache. Very enjoyable sites and particularly good views of an historic town at the final GZ. Rates a fav point. Took cicada for the childhood memories and left ablack pen for future chachers to write their logs. TFTC maccamob.

Find #140

Had some time in Clunes before heading back to Melbourne. Looked in bookshops, had a coffee and a pie. Still had some time to spare so jumped on the bike to look at the local caches. A ride around to get all these locations and a few hill climbs to test my bike legs!

Great to learn so much about the town and what had gone on here in the past. Some lovely old buildings too. Worked through the stages easily enough by finding the required info. It all seemed to fall into place easily enough apart from the third location where I thought maybe a sign had gone missing (but the internet saved me here).

The final location had prickles guarding the cache so a few of the usual arm and leg scratches to pay for finding this one. Got there in the end and thanks maccamob for a very enjoyable multi. Made a few small swaps and signed the log. I might have left a bit more time so I didn't work up such a sweat on the bike.
