Another lonely cache and boy is this place overgrown. Im no slouch but this took over an hour and much cutty grass, gorse, wet foliage and slippyness. The bench was obscured but found eventually. Nice hide here and view was OK, struggled to exit via the upward loop too. Not my finest caching experience. Its that time of year again when the geocachers migrate to their summer hunting grounds. Flocks of nomadic seekers take to the roads via planes, trains and automobiles (Candy anyone?) and head to new environments. With Pocket queries, and/or GPSs loaded with potential finds the inboxes of cache owners bulge with tales of road trips and new areas and so on. That was us, a 5 day trip up to Whangarei to spend Xmas with our son and family. Not many caches sought, a few finds to keep the fun going .
It was way over grown very hard to get to! Heaps of ants and maggots on the container! Way hard for a beginner but lucky we are busy savvy!
This was the last find for the day.
Lost my en on the way in decided to backtrack after finding the cache in the hope of finding it. Thankfully did, otherwise I would have list 2 pens in one day which has never happened before.
Very happy to find the pen and the cache.
The rain has found me it's pouring, the track is almost like a river with water. Slippery in places overgrown and undulating.
Was so happy to be back at the car racing to my accommodation gor dinner and a warm shower.
Thanks for the hide

1292. 2:39 pm. The view and rest at GZ made the hike worth it. I would recommend that the CO increase the terrain rating to 3. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi, Li0nPaw and my BH. TFTC(on a narrow, winding trail).
Decided to do this on a very hot day. Didnt do the whole track as was too hot. Bit prickly at GZ but cache found. Signed and replaced. Tftc
Pretty narrow track but great doing a bush walk again while staying in Ngungaru with friends.

I headed out to Nganguru today for Whangarei's monthly clean up. I had lots of caches in this area that I hadn't got last time I was down. I had a great day, lovely bush walks, beautiful sea views, fun scrambling around the rocks. I was pleased to finally be in the area to find my knitting puzzle that I'd solved years ago too. I also enjoyed catching up with the Whangarei cachers at the cito. I carried on to this cache after doing Melva's boardwalk. I enjoyed this track too and such a peaceful gz. Nice to see some young kowhai trees along the track. By the end of the day I was pretty tired with 17 caches found. Thanks for the cache to show us this area
Who would have known this track was here! Thanks geocaching and hello Smoking Gun!
Enjoyed this lovely bush walk along the Waiotoi River, especially the beautiful mossy track. TFTC
Staying out at Ngunguru for the holiday weekend....have had these two on the to do list for awhile so we came in and enjoyed the walk along the estuary. We enjoyed the peace at GZ and cache soon in hand. Decided not to the full loop as had done Melvas walk already. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
As we were the first, and possibly only walkers on this track today, and as I led, I was the official spiderweb breaker. I guess someone has to do it and steed assures me that he usually has that role.
I loved this wee track. Mangrove swamps are, let's face it, kinda ugly, but there were such interesting and attractive details along the walk. Ponga fronds, toadstools, moss and the like.
The cache is well placed and cleverly hidden in a spot where it is kept dry.
Thanks for encouraging us to explore this spot, a fav from us.

Out for a day on the coast, caching Was never really aware of this little side road, or of the neat bush and marsh walks here, so thx for putting theses caches in and giving us a reason to stop off. TFTC
I could have found this one right near publishing, but I was wanting to make a milestone so I couldnt touch it. But now, we were heading out this way.
In between showers we headed out to the parking lot. Nice easy walk/jog to the cache and a nice easy find. Nice and dry.
Picked up the GC and headed back to the bach. TFTC.

Staying with family near Ngunguru, so decided to go for a walk along this track. It was a pleasant walk and much nicer than the gorse and cutty grass of the nearby Te Araroa walkways! Soon arrived at GZ and made a quick cache find and swapped TBs. TFTC, a favourite!

Great little walk. Took the SaltyCacheNutZ signature coin as it was too cute to resist! I promise I'll place it somewhere soon. Thanks.
Was driving past & saw this one pop up so made a quick decision it was time for a walk. And a lovely one it was, amongst the cool shade of the bush on a hot day. Don't know why this hasn't had more visits... it is interesting how far back the mangroves & fingers of the estuary reach inland. I think 2 mermaids paddled up these reaches once upon a time with the pirate & the gondolier ...
had to grin once spying the funny Canadian geocoin; swapped it with a LOTR geocoin & left a SaltyCacheNutZ signature coin. TFTC!

Hi Smoking Gun,
Unfortunately the image quality from this cache is poor, presumably from salt air spray on the window the camera is mounted behind. In addition, the distance from the camera to the area where a cacher would need to stand means it's impossible to identify a person in the picture, or what they are doing for that matter.
I doubt this will pass muster, but I am submitting it to other cache reviewers for their opinions. I'll let you know one way or another in a few days.
Thanks, Neill )
