Checked the cache today (as the owner left Christchurch long ago), but the city council removed WP1 and the final is gone as well! In addition someone turned the final into a big mess so it is no longer a pleasure to search the cache there.
We did not check WP2 and WP3 as we could not see a point after the two essential points are missing.
We did not check WP2 and WP3 as we could not see a point after the two essential points are missing.
There isn't anything resembling any of the images at the given coords - I assume I was looking for Spike by a stake - but I think this could have been removed. Would it be possible for you to check it bear? I have visited here a couple of times. Thanks
Found the WPs earlier this month. Today I attempted the final without success. Will try again after there has been a successful find.
Spike was found ages ago, Willow and Giles today. Buffy was pretty elusive though. Will try again..... one day.
Thanks for getting me up to 60kms on a cyclocaching day!
Thanks for getting me up to 60kms on a cyclocaching day!
An elegant and varied cache, which I really enjoyed. However a couple of point to help fellow cachers. At WP 1 the hint suggests a 1 metre height, but thanks to City Care it is now on " the knees." to achieve. And at the final my heart sank with the filth, doggie doos etc, but there is no need to grovel. Buffy would not like that! Thanks.
Nice one but finding the final cache is a bit of a pain. Took me ages taking the bad GPS reception underneath the trees into account.
Some really neat nooks and crannies in this cache hunt, I am glad I didn't try and walk it though!! I retrieved the rose TB, a nice spot for a rose but a bit on the shady side. TFTC
Really enjoyed this multi-had us looking for all sorts of things in all sorts of places. Great WPs. Bit of a hike alright but great day for it. TFTC Left Smell the Roses Geocoin. You'll know why when you get to the final cache.
This has been my closest unfound for a very long time! It has been a case of one waypoint at a time, and a very long time in between Thanks for the hunt, I really enjoyed this one
First to find in new location!
Had already found the cache in my pre-logging days, so made a bee-line to where I could remember the cache had been hidden - it's completely unrecognizable! Lucky we had revisited Giles so we could re-calculate the offsets.
I like the new spot for Buffy, she has a nice view. Easy find in the end.
Thanks very much to MollyChCh for keeping this multi "alive", as it's worth the effort.

Many, many thanks to Markus and Anneke of MollyChCh for replacing the missing Buffy in a new but still appropriate spot!
You'll need to make the adjustment to the coords found in the Giles waypoint, as described in the listing.

Started this cache a while ago and over the last three weekends tried to locate the final cache. But arriving at GZ there is no hiding place for a cache at all, so contacted previous succesful cachers. It seems as if the gardeners have done a great cleaning job. But maybe we can get a confirmation on this.
Spent a lovely couple of hours on Easter Saturday finding Buffy.
We read a lot of nameplates at Buffy's place!

Well it's about time I got this of my list, and knowing the History behind the cache makes it more fun.

nice day to be out and about, got the first 3 all in a row but didnt do the final til around half 3 this morning, so at that point it was a nice night to be out and about, really enjoyed this cache thanks took the necklace and dropped in a bottle opener.
Have been looking at doing this cache for a while but had never attempted as it looked too hard. Had been warned to do it when heading in a certain direction and as we were going that way today and actualy ended up leaving earlier than expected thought I would grab wp1 and see how we went with the rest. Fitted it in around everything else during the day. Once everything else had been done and it was time to go home we only had the final to do so we made a detour and found it. First BearLeft cache.
Edit to add - ops its actualy the third Bear Left cache we have found.

This started out as our #90, but soon realised that we'd be covering distance so did other clues & caches in between. Beautiful Spring day! TFTC TNLN
Thought we'd party with Buffy & her pals, Quite tough to round up mates of this gorgeous gal!
Now Spike's grown taller with a girth; Willow's still far from down-to-earth; But Gile's half-dressed state, almost put us off our date; Traversing town so gathered more geo-clues, almost dropped in a house full of booze. Party on? Not here?! Where? Oh, Let's sneak down there!

We picked this one to celebrate our 100th Cache.
Very glad we didn't bike, t'was a long way & we encountered a very heavy rain storm during our hunt.

#230. Found with Troodels. Been steadily plugging away at this one, one WP at a time, over a number of weeks. Quick find. A couple of muggles came along just as Troodles was hiding the cache, and looked at us rather suspiciously.
[I found the first waypoint a month or so ago, and did the second and third waypoints on the way home from work today, While sitting at home tonight with nothing doing I thought I might just duck out and grab the final cache, It was about 9pm when I got there and dark, an easy find but,] Its just as well that I am in this line of work other wise I probably wouldnt have gone into this place at this time of night [and I think this cache may be on private property, anyway thanks for this interesting cache and all the hard work you have put in. cheers Bo]
Found with Hello Mrs. Loved all the flowers at the final WP. Took a flower and left a metal picture.
Out with Cuttie again today to find the final WP. Easier than the earlier ones. Left Old ain't Dead TB
Looked for Spike twice today and no luck. Checked out all 3 trees like in the photo and all surrounding but nada. Might leave it up to someone else to find before I try again.
Took our Buffy-mad friends out to find their first cache. This is still as cool as we remembered
All the waypoints were there and in good nick. Thought I'd add a note to say "Hi and thanks".

Our first ever cache, found with help from fnk (including the loan of the GPS). We almost lost our battle with the bush but Buffy came through in the end with only minor injuries.
We left a miniature stake for Buffy, nothing for Giles because our little book did not fit, Willow got a lovely little amulet and a computer monitor badge in case she wants to revert to her geeky days. For Spike we left a mirror, not that he will find it much use but he needs something to try and maintain those Billy Idol looks.
Thanks bear-left.

A very entertaining series. Had a little trouble with Willow, but a re-read of the clue had me back for another shot and on to Giles. Found Spike, Willow and Giles back in autumn and finallly got around to cracking Buffy today. Forgot to take any trades, so TNLNSL.
Some bvery very classy hides there. One was a bit of a challange for the fat armed amongst us - but a stick works wonders. Great cache - thanks.
A nice little multi and very cheeky placements for the waypoints. It took me a long time to get around to this one. Wpt1 is way over the other side of town. Everything else was much handier to home, so I got the other waypoints yesterday (wpt1 the day before) and the cache on the way home from work today. I thought the cache location was quite appropriate.

Great cache! It only took 2yrs to complete... I don't know why I couldn't find wp1 for a while. No swaps. Cheers Bear_Left.
I was very impressed with this one. Wondered how they would tie in the waypoints with the waypoint names, but it all became clear as I found them. Loads of fun, did the lot the same day.

WOOHOO!!! Cache #300. We have had this one on our "to-do" list for ages (well since we started caching anyway) and decided the it would be a great one for this milestone, also had an appropriate "Evil Micro Geocoin" to drop in Anyway ened up going on a tour of the city whilst completing this one but hey, it was a great afternoon for caching Really enjoyed this multi and it's theme, one of my favourites. Many thanks Bear_Left.

Started collecting the waypoints for this one back in September. Took a while to get them all and finally finished it today. It has been an interesting tour of various neighbourhoods and the final is worth a wander around for the gardens. TNLN Thanks.
Finally! This was the first cache I tried to find as the start is the nearest waypoint to my home. Then I slowly realised that the other waypoints were not within the same park. Picked off the waypoints over time and now - got it. Great intro to geocaching even if I had to do some easier ones to get to grips with finding caches.
Didn't think I was going to finish this one, but was lucky with my route today. It took all week, and accomplished by bicycle.

Found Spike a year ago but didn't have time to do the rest. Found the others this year whilst cruising around Chch. Easy to find Buffy. Wonderful roses in the "garden" adjacent to the cache site. TNLN
We have been chipping away at this for about 3 weeks now, it has been a lot of fun, with the chance to check out a couple of Rellies at the end.
Cache was exposed, but dry inside although smelling a little musty.
We have covered it with leaves.

Thanks heaps,

This took us days as we kept running out of time. However we found all the brilliant waypoints. Very ingenious and just how we like them. The final cache was very difficult to find and possibly not exactly where it should be according to the photo. Maybe it needs checking. I rebagged the logbook as the bag had holes and logbook was damp. Took sticky lizard and left bouncy ball. TFTC. Linleye.
Dropped off a virtual TB with an interest in locatiuons such as the final location of this cache.
We decided to start our trip up to Nelson with a quick nip in to see Buffy. Not that we had planned it, but a detour to drop some overdue videos off, meant that we drove right past, and it was just too convenient not to...
Like Grandalf, we also started in the car park, but (apart from the lack of 'theme') it was soon pretty obvious where we were meant to be. The final cache was the only place where the spoiler pics were needed. TNLN, Thanks ( there's still 1 or 2 that we have saved )

Thanks Bears for a great multi - I took my granddaughter Applemay who knew more about Buffy than I did!! But we loved the puns, found all the waypoints, but at the final we found ourselves in a pub carpark before realising the error in our ways. Soon found the right spot, and there was Buffy, safe and well - but feeling a little lonely after 4 months on her own. + UK 10p coin - minidominoes set. Cheers from Grandalf and Applemay.
We found the waypoints and then found Buffy all alone under her leaves. I liked the Willow waypoint, as my arm could reach into the gap better than Grandalf's.
Nice one Bears. We had a great drive around today, map in hand. Great waypoints, as we expected. A little searching at the GZ for the cache, but found eventually, certainly had to resort to the clue.
Took a couple of hours in the end. Certainly not a cache to do at rush (half) hour.

A great cache. The waypoints were very clever. We had to rush home to check the photo of the cache, as our searching proved futile. Found it very easily after the cheat.
Got around to ending this one tonight, been on our 'to finish' list for awhile. Second night attempt at the final cache, and we got it this time!

Perhaps a clue for the final location would be helpful, as it's too well hidden (in my humble opinion) to be found without the photo clue (even with it, our second attempt, it took us a while). But the initial clues are brilliant, and we enjoyed the whole journey. Thanks.
Managed to locate Buffy after a very enjoyable hunt. The waypoints (as ever) were cleverly and thoughtfully hidden. We're going to really miss these devilish Bear_left caches! Thanks a lot

Went hunting for this with lyricnz & shorty (8 yrs). Thought it was rather fitting finding this on Halloween. The nearby metal stake made a good cache-finding tool. However, it'd take a very keen cyclist to be attempting this by bike!

Found at last! Started picking up early waypoints MTB'ing around town, and finally had a chance to hunt Buffy today. First time I hadn't seen the picture clue and wasn't able to find the cache, but I returned later in the day and was able to find the cache with ease. Thanks guys! No exchange made. Cheers Gav [219]
Found with a little help from the Bad Ferret.

Buffy is holding her own. Search was delayed by flanneled fools congregating around spike and a return to giles to check coordinates. Circuit completed by treadly (see photo) involving a good workout on a hot day and, as usual completed under the cloak of invisibilty that covers cyclists in the city.
No exchange. Thanks Bear_Left, for the intrigue. Rod_M

She's baaaaaack! All the finds below have been printed out and pasted into the new logbook. (Including BaldEd's 'Did Not Find' note, making this one of the very rare cache logbooks with a DNF note in it!)

After raking away all the leaves etc at the published situ nothing was found. Maybe Buffy wasn't able to slay the last vampire to visit this goulish spot and has now been carried away.
Dropped by to leave the Solstice Traveller Travel Bug who has been around the whole North Island and is hoping one day to get to Alaska.
Set out to do only the first waypoint but got hooked! This was fun in the dark - it was exactly midnight and we were you know where, signing the logbook. Returned home safely!

What a fantastic little series. I've got to say, we were a bit slow finding the first one (We didn't really think about what we were looking for), but then Vida discovered it, right in front of our faces! Actually, Vida found them all. Hmmm.
Thanks so much Bear Left - great series - can't wait for the Calendar!

Willow has returned to the Light (and turned blue in the process) and will now tell you where Giles is _really_ hiding.

Papa Bear_Left's new New Year's resolution: stop using BaldEd as my beta-tester.
The cycle stuff I can plead ignorance of: I'm a 4 wheel polluter (and payer of taxes to maintain the roads.)
Willow has turned to the Dark Side and is currently obscuring Giles' whereabouts. I'll set her straight and re-open the cache this weekend.

After experiencing coordinate errors in my FTF attempts at It' Poetry, Guv and B.E.A.R. caches I decided that I would never again attempt another FTF on any of Bear_Left's caches. I will let someone else find the bugs in his cache notes. So I left it for a week before deciding to combine a 2 hour cycle ride with maybe a little cache hunting. [B)] Oh why didn't I stick to my original plan? [B)] Bear Left mentioned in the cache notes to be prepared for a bit of a drive or cycle. My recommendation is "Forget the cycle" as the direct track from the given cordinate to the next point will involve one cycling along what are probably the most dangerous roads (for cycling) in Christchurch (i.e.Hornby - Sockburn, and either Blenheim or Riccarton Roads). Found Willow with no problem but Giles is elusive. GZ was a wire rope fence. Couldn't make any sense of the cryptic clue. Maybe it was the effects of lack of oxygen to the brain caused by all the exertion, lack of food, incorrect entry of the coordinate into the GPS or has Bear_Left goofed again? Time to go home. Stopped by Willow, as I biked back to the mothership, and checked that I had indeed entered the correct coordinates. I had! Wait now for someone else to report in.
Here's a photo of the original contents, except for one surprise item!
