FINALLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF BEING STUCK ON WPT 5!!! We got confused between Mary Bell And Mary Ball on WPT 5 but the in the end it was actually Mary Cole! TFTC =)
A recent visit found the area around GZ completely exposed and the cache melted following a controlled burn-off in April 2024. The CO has been informed and cache has need replaced with permission.
We have had this one on our must do list for a while, and despite the hot weather forecast for today we decided it was the day to get it done! With the youngest LegoLad along we decided to do the longer stretches between waypoints in the car, but given the extensive shade available across this beautiful cemetery we were able to walk a number of them. We were prepared for WP5 and started 20m to the East of the coordinates as suggested by earlier logs, but even then spent a good 10 minutes missing the obvious headstone and searching further afield. This particular Mary has now last lost the Y, half the "R" and half of one of the numbers of her year of death. It's all still obvious once you look closely, but was easily glanced past on our first couple of passes. A small error in calculation tgen saw us in slightly the wrong spot for WP6 - only about 40m out and we realised afterwards we had missed the correct headstone by only a few metres in our expanded search, but 20 minutes here in the heat led to us breaking for lunch and regrouping in the cooler afternoon - by which time we'd realised the error of our ways and the final few waypoints played out nicely. A great walk to GZ along a path we have enjoyed before, with an extra couple of hundred metres along the trail to enjoy some of the expansive views nearby. We actually really liked the fact that the coordinates in many cases didn't take you straight to the correct headstone, as it gave us an opportunity to explore and consider the history of the many people who have been buried here. Only about 30m away from WP6 we found the gravestone for the man who composed the original "Aeroplane Jelly" jingle! An absolute favourite from us for the work that originally went into this and the maintenance of this cache over time by all involved.
Wow, what a day! The recommended time taken for this cache in the description was spot on! Made the walk around the cemetery when I had the time about a week ago before walking to GZ this mornkng Ive never seen so many Marys in one place, my head is feeling with them! Eventually found all of the Marys in question - the hint with the surnames was super helpful! Like other I got lost on Mary number 5, eventually found the helpful log saying shes closer to the road - but even then I found another Mary with a matching surname to the hint I hadnt found yet but it wasnt actually her! So many damn Marys! Needed one last nudge from a PAF to get the right GZ coordinates and today finally made the trek into the bush for an easy find - it was practically out in the open! So I camod it a bit better with some nearby SPOR fodder Signed the log too of course.TFTC for a fun gallivant around 10 waypoints for a good cache! TFTC!
Today I was out with Brewmaker doing a walk aroung the Wonnie bushland to test out my damaged hamstring. I had made a list of a few caches to try for and at the suggestion of Brew added this one to my list. Being with a previous finder help speed up the search locations so it wasn't quite as long as suggested before I had CIH.
Signed the log and replaced the cache then continued on the bushwalk part of the expedition.

The walk around the cemetery was had and looming around trying to find the Mary’s was tough work. I managed to get to Wp6 and it was all over for me, so a paf was had and off to GZ, cache found and is all good
Today I headed south to Sutherland for a walk around to find some caches near the cemetery and get a new LGA before making my way back to the harbour for a nice afternoon at cockatoo island.
Thanks for the cache

This took a long time to get to sign the cache. I built a spreadsheet to put in all the values I came across a number of years ago but though the final GZ looked promising and met the hint I stumbled around for no finds. Every now and then I was in the area I had another look but still nothing.
So it came to exercise during COVID that over 2 days I visited every spot again and ended up with the same details
So this time I checked my formulas. Oh a zero was missing that changed the final by about 20 metres and still met the hint.
So today decided to check my new coords and get some more steps up, so parked in my usual spot and headed in. I thought I would be alone but talk about busy all these families walking. Got to my new GZ and lucky for me no one about a quick find was made
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache SWAG aft

OCW frazeydaze in and around Woronora Cemetery today. Probably not the best day to be a Cemetery with lots of people paying their respects to their mothers. On the list today was an Adventure Lab for frazeydaze and a ten stage multi and two trads for the both of us.
With the amount vehicular traffic this morning we decided that we would walk to all the WPs with this one. Most of the Mary's were found without too much hassle and at the second last Mary we overheard a family discussing this Mary's life. We did learn that she emanated from New Zealand.
After finding all our Mary's we decided to break for lunch at the Cemetery Cafe and prepare for the afternoons caching which included the AL for frazeydaze which I'd previously done and knew that the the Bonus Cache associated with it was close to the GZ for this cache.
After completing the AL we were off out of the Cemetery into the bush to find all four caches. For some reason I thought that this one was going to be hard to find, however, once at GZ frazeydaze soon spotted the spor of rocks just off the track.
Thanks for a fun morning in the Cemetery finding Mary's SWAG aft. Favourite point awarded.

Well, this was an epic day wandering around the cemetery chasing Mary.
Hating the pressure of calculating out in the field, I prepared a summary sheet for information to be entered into and several lines for the workings for each WP. This made for a much more enjoyable adventure.
One by one, oldmorty and I made our way around the cemetery, calculating each new WP as we went. We’d gone full circle, got the final coords and decided it was time for lunch.
Lunch finished and it was off to find the cache and a few others along the trail.
Cache found, log signed and ache returned to its hiding spot. Thanks for a great day.
TFTC SWAG aft. Worth a FAV point for all the hard work that went into this multi.

Beautiful cemetery and what a stunning day it was to go for a lap to visit a few Marys. We actually found at least 30 Marys along our travels while looking for the right ones. We found most relatively quickly with a systematic search around each way-point. Had a bit of trouble at Wp5- found 2 Marys with last names very close to those on the list, but a wider search (on the roads edge) revealed the correct person. After paying our respects to each one, we had the coordinates to GZ and off we went. Coordinates were spot on and it was a quick find after spotting the tell-tale camo. Decided to venture to a nearby viewpoint only to discover we had been there before a while back for another cache, but had come to it from a different direction. Memories! Thanks for a great day out- giving this a favourite
Finally! This one has been a long time coming. I set off today on my day off to the cemetery hoping to tick this one off. It was a hot and wet Monday and it was actually pretty busy inside the cemetery. Most of the Mary’s were pretty easy to spot and math was pretty good for the most part. Except for the infamous wp5, I circled round a few times with no luck before rechecking my maths and discovering a little error I made. With it corrected I found the next Mary pretty quick. I strolled along collecting Mary’s until i had the final coordinates in my hand. I drove out and around to the start of a familiar track. A quick walk down to gz where the cache was soon spotted, I also dropped off a geocoin, thankyou!
This would be nearly impossible without the surnames in the hint as there are Mary's everywhere. A great cache and had a humbling time remembering those who have lived in the past. WP5 was very tricky as it was 30m out. Had 3 separate attempts at WP9 as I made an error each time up until the third attempt and only realised after heaps of looking at each point I thought was WP9. The most frustrating find was gz though as I only slightly misread the date. This was enough to send me steep downhill way off the track. Spent ages looking all around only to realise I had to walk right back up the top again. Came back on a 5th or 6th separate day to have a attempt at GZ.

Now that was a great multi to complete! After getting Side-Tracked we got to the prize in about 2 hours of walking and driving.
This orange circle has sat in the centre of my Shire map for ages. I made a start about 2 yrs ago, but with limited time I never got past WP2 (turns out I had the wrong Mary there anyway). So with EverestHigh along for the ride, between the two of us on the Mary-hunt, we found all the correct Marys, and our Maths was accurately calculated (take note MrD!) as we made our way around Woronora Cemetery. An interesting mix of older and younger Marys took us from one grave to the next, crossing off the surnames until we had only one left. Most WPs were fairly spot on and easy to recognise, with only one Mary almost having us pick the wrong name because of similar letters! Some did take a few circuits of that little pocket of headstones, but eventually we had the necessary Mary.
With the GZ coords worked out, we found it wasn't too far to go, so with some agilty we hopped, skipped and jumped along the path with excellent views over The Wonnie. I love this part of The Shire and at GZ, we uncovered the obvious SPOR to have CIH. Stamped and replaced, I nabbed the geocoin to move on. All good in the container and logbook.
Thanks for the journey around the cemetery. It was an impromptu history lesson as well, with some of the other headstones we saw showing some sad stories as well - children, ANZACs, etc. Overall, a great experience of a well-designed and well thought out multi. Definitely worthy of a FP from Brew. TFTC

Two day effort due to our dodgy maths but a good time in the bone yard. Recommend this one good fun and interesting
A very enjoyable cache for a weekend walk.
Did the majority of this on Sunday but didn't have time to get to the GZ. An enjoyable walk through the cemetery.
We found a few of the WP's were a bit off the GPS location while others were spot on.
Finally finished this today. I recommend approaching the GZ from outside the cemetery unless you like jumping fences. A short walk along the trail and it was found not far away. Left a geocoin "TB3QDVZ" which I had forgotten about so the next person can log it.

Have had my eye on this one for years and never got around to it. On Saturday gave this one ago and managed to knock off the first 7 way points before time constraints and some nearby mourners forced me to abandon. Had to throw a bit of a wider search area at WP5 as mentioned by previous finders and had some self inflicted maths related problems at WP6. Back today to knock off the last two WP's and go get a nice quick find at GZ. TFTC
Visited the posted co-ordinates and found a likely pair of numbers but the waypoint I calculated was in the nearby bush. That didn't seem right, so I tried other pairs but nothing gave me anything reasonable. Revisited a few days later hoping I might spot something I missed - I didn't. Frustrated, I did some online research on potential waypoint Marys and was eventually (somehow!) able to pick up the trail at WP6 and come up with a GZ that made sense. This felt a bit like cheating, and it was really bugging me not knowing those initial numbers, so I tried to backtrack using the research I had done. Eventually redid the first calc using my initial numbers and it worked! I had the right digits the whole time and just stuffed up the maths. Felt a wee bit silly after all the extra effort I put in. Finally able to visit GZ today and grab the hard earned cache.

Wow. Finally found this cache after an attempt about 18 months ago. Geo sister (Geo Jedi) SpecimenX was up from Canberra to visit family.
We spent a couple of hours doing this cache and really enjoyed doing so. This was a great challenge and so much fun!It did take a while at some way points as the cords were out. However, we we very patient and took our time.
What a great day, great company and weather. TFTC

Plans were set in place for the geobro, goldfinger777, and I to target this epic multi as he was keen to complete it after an aborted first attempt ages ago (stroller with twins!).
I do love a good cemetery cache. I find reading the headstones fascinating-especially really old ones of early pioneers. Anyway, off we went to get started. I managed to screw up the maths on a couple of WPs as we went (it was hot and I wasn't thinking straight! ) but things sorted themselves out when I did the rest of the calcs in the car with the a/c on lol. WP5 was the toughest. We took heed of previous finders advice of a 30m discrepancy with that one but persisted to finally spot it-good work geobro! Seems one of Mary's letters has fallen off .
So with GZ finally worked out off we went for the wander to make the easy find.
Thanks for this enjoyable multi, SWAG aft-fave awarded! I've never seen so many Marys in one spot. Marys....Marys everywhere!

Find 2 of 2 for the morning.
This was my main goal this morning. Having worked through wp1-5 about a month ago, today I was back to hopefully finish this classic multi.
Can I say, this is an awesome multi. Really enjoyed the stroll around to collect all the required info. This multi is well thought out and takes you on a thorough tour of the area in a logical way. Only had one hiccup with the wps, my mistake and I should have realised earlier. Most of the wps are spot on and using the clue is a must to help find the required Marys. There is one WP however which is almost 30m out so keep looking and you will find what you are after.
Great location for GZ. Easy find at GZ and the cache is in great condition. TNLNSL.
Thanks for the multi swagaft a classic old school multi my favourite!

I originally began this multi a few weeks ago.
I really like graveyard caches so wasn't put off by the number of waypoints it the baths involved (my weakest skill!)
I hade good progress until I got to WP5, this angry took a while to find, then on to WP6 where I hit a brick wall. If checked and double checked my maths yet still couldn't find her.
I gave up and went home.
I recorded all my notes in a beat and tidy way and filed them.
Today I decided to give it another shot. I headed to WP6 but was surprised that it didn't seem familiar. I found Mary almost immediately - I have no idea how I messed up last time but got the right coords at home whilst noting down my progress!
Anyway, the next few Mary's showed them self quickly and I was off the GZ.
What a beautiful area. Cache was found in great condition. I grabbed the TB too
Tftc fav point awarded for a great multi, a lovely walk and a great GZ.
Note: coords may be about 15m out on occasions but the hint will help you......don't give up !!

After doing most of the initial WP a few school holidays ago and running ou of light and rain setting in we decided to return and finish the cache. Locating thlast Mary we set out but had miscalculated. After 5 min we decided to check the coordinates and realise we had made a calculation error and were out by about 500 m. With the correct coordinates we returned and xqche in hand in a few minutes . what a great cache. Fav point from us. We also left out TB kitty .
Had to drop Geoson #2 at the station so he could get to work... so I decided to keep going south for some caching goodness.
I don't usually cache down here unless going to friends' for dinner - ie leaving early. But lately I haven't had the time to do that, so I'm getting behind and new caches are piling up. Also, there are a number of multis that I just NEED to do.
So compromised - a newer cache and some multis...
Got six and abandoned one. Oh well.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
And here was the one I abandoned - at the second waypoint.
Quick find of the first, and the numbers put me... Hmmm. Found two Marys and chose the one only 5 meters from my coordinates. And that puts me way away. Obviously wrong.
Checked previous logs for clues. Aah, others have had trouble here. So I widened my search. Five Marys within 10 metres. And of course I don't know what Day, Month and Year required - choice of two each.
And is Age always given or do I have to calculate it? So many questions, so much uncertainly.
Decided to call it there and move on. I'll run the numbers I have at home and see if anything logical pops out. That may provide guidance for the latter waypoints.
And of course now I finally check the hint I have some answers... Sigh.

I had completed all the waypoint finding in late November 2016 on a really lovely day (before the crazy heat of the summer hit). It was an enjoyable walk with most WPs being pretty accurate, only a couple had me going in circles. I did have to be careful at one WP towards the end as there were mourners present, so do have your awareness about you so you don't intrude on any moments. I think that aspect of the cache took me around 2 hours, but it was just what I needed that day.
And now we're at the end of March when the weather again is more pleasant (in fact a little nippy this morning) when I had the opportunity to conclude this cache. No problems at GZ and the current container is doing just fine. Thanks SWAG aft (and NanaNel for maintaining).

A lovely chance to walk the dog and catch up with wazza9 and Nana Nel.
They checked my sums and I helped them at Pole Vaulting.
All the coordinates are within fifteen metres you just need to search for the name. WP5 was the furthest off my coordinates.
But all in all a lovely multi.

What an enjoyable cache. GeoHubby refused to do this one with me so I took GeoDad along for a bit. We did the first 3 waypoints on one day then met Mum for lunch. This cache has had me intrigued all weekend. I ended up doing a bit of research online and managed to solve another 3 or 4 (can't remember) waypoints. I went back today to make sure I was right before finishing off the rest and grabbing the cache. A nice quick find in a great spot. TFTC
We went to Helensburgh/Sutherland today... wow! Here are some very awesome caches! Thank you for this cache, really enjoyed finding this! (:
Well finally this one is of the list! I reccon I know every grave in the cemetary now! Had several goes at different wp's and had to do a few paf's on the way as well to get finally some coords for gz.

I been working on this multi for sometime, and today I need to fill a day on my calendar and thought this would be a good one, after spending the morning at Eat, Laugh & Paint get together. Put the co-ord's in the GPS and off I go, bit of walk, hoping it wouldn't start to rain, then the GPS said low battery power, but I went on and had enough battery to find GZ. A quick find, picked up the container and everything fell out as the top of the lid had disintegrated at the join, signed the log, I didn't notice any trackables.
Now I going back to replace the container and do a good check of the contents as there was a car in it.

Second attempt on a bloody hot day. And stuck again to determine WP2... I was this close >< to calling it off. Redid the math, did the math with different numbers close by. Nope. Nope. Nope. Checked a wall way outside the area I consider the margin of the GPS. Oh hello, I was looking for you!
Next ones were easier. Nearly got eaten alive by the red forest ants. And then the last one, were I was socialised by two people visiting their lost relative. At the end, up to GZ: the gate is still there, it is just hiding behind a new fence. A little detour and walk and there it was!
Signed the log, grabbed my bike and let the home front know that the shame of not finding it the first attempt was cleaned from my history!
It's remarkable that while cycling around your brain will automatically spot other Mary's, despite that you are not looking for them!
GeoDirk joke: this looks like a great place, people are dying to get in here!

I had a few hours free while in the area, and had the drive to find a few more multicaches.
Now while working my way through this, I realised there is definitely something about Mary! I found at least three times the amount of Marys needed. Without the hint I wouldn't be able to determine which ones were needed.
The coordinates were a bit sketchy for some of them, but before I knew it I was at the last one, and then onto gz.
The container needs replacing.
A challenging multi indeed. Thanks.

An earlier cacher (Tangles) has likened this cache to a bag of chips "You know you can’t just stop at one and when you finished the lot you wished you hadn’t." A very apt description of this cache for me - this one has been on my radar for a while and this week it was finally time to have a go over 3 afternoons. Calculator in hand and with one eye on my watch so I didn't get sidetracked and forget to pick up the kids from afternoon sport, a comment by my daughter came to mind about why do we need to do maths at school? Yep this is a good reason why at least you need to remember something about order of operations. Towards the end it looked harder than it really was and then sadly that was the end of searching for the Marys and it was time to find GZ which was a nice walk along a familiar track. A thoroughly enjoyable cache - thanks SWAG aft!!
(Perhaps the next finder could bring along a roll of duct tape to fix the lid)

Self and geowife headed out early before it got too hot. Nice and peaceful in the cemetery, as it should be. At WP 1 the GPSr seemed very erratic at first but soon settled own and we finally located what is needed.
Waypoint location went well but a number of coordinates were a bit out, however we soon learned to widen our search. Had problems with the calcs in particular WP 9 which took us down the garden path. A sit down conference soon had the problem resolved.
While searching at GZ a walker stopped and told us he had just spotted a red-bellied black snake nearby which caused me to locate the cache in double-quick time and do the necessary.
The lid is still damaged as reported, so I tried to put a zip lock bag over it but the bag split. I left it inverted and replaced the camo. TN Left a small peg and a red-dress lady badge (heart research). SL. TFTC SWAG aft.
Deserves a favourite for a great effort.

Found this one evenly fascinating and frustrating - some closer coordinates on a few waypoints would have made the whole thing much more enjoyable. Loved the concept and a great trip around this very interesting place.
Cache lid is broken. Replaced upside down to minimize leakage. Log ok in its sealed bag.

Let's do something big for fathers day!
And then you don't realize that half of the families who have placed somebody here will visit it today...
We didn't get further than searching for WP2, where we found a Mary but not with a name on the list of approved Marie's.

Thoroughly enjoyed this multimarathon of a cache. Walked briskly, calculated carefully, and looked closely at all the waypoints, followed by a nice walk in the bush to GZ. All before my phone battery went dead 10 seconds after the find. Whew!! Just under 2 hours all up and worth a fav point from me. Thanks.
Awesome multi cache! Spend the first part of the morning looking while Geokid was doing baseball in the area. Geowife did not read hint which could have made it easier when there were so many Marys and trying to calculate the wrong info. After we pick Geokid up we continued and completed it, dragging the hungry Geokid thru all the WP before we head for late lunch.
Took Trackable left reflector required help to do mathmatic side Neon-Nights assisted us finding the cache and left the trackable i took
Really enjoyed this cache. We completed it over 3 days. Pen, paper and calculator came in very handy. The list of last names in the hint is invaluable, there are Mary's everywhere! TFTC
Boy oh boy what a great cache! A lot of thought and effort went into this cache and i really appreciate it!
Started off at WP1 looking for Mary. Everything from there went smoothly upto WP5. The Tree Cover there made my GPS go a little off. I think i tried about 3 Marys before i found the right one. One of them was even born in the 1800's at some point, so old.. Anyway after figuring out that the hint had peoples surnames in it (fail on my behalf) i went back and checked waypoint's 3 and 4 ton confirm the correct surnames. Eventually found the correct mary.
Moving onto WP 6, the head stones where astonishing. They were so big and out there. A lot of them where in Greek by the looks of it but still astonishing non the less. As i emerged from a bush the true scale of this Grave yard hit me, I looked up to see an amazing desert like plane of Head stones that stretched as far as i could see. There where hardly any trees so it was very open. Thought to my self, gosh how will i ever find Mary in this lot... Eventually toddled off in the direction that my gps was pointing and found her. Came across a wonderfully constructed area (looked brandspaking new). Full of empty head stones and a huge Jesus figure in the centre. After reading the writing on all the walls it appeared that it was a monument depicting Jesus from when he was condemned to when he was crucified.
Eventually made my way to WP8 as i walked over a hill to what looked like another plane of head stones, in the distance i could see there had been a lot of land cleared and construction work by the looks of it. After i hit WP 9 i went to the Final resting place of the cache. As i trudged through what little bush was left with out arousing suspicion from the construction workers (as GZ was through a construction zone) i hit a huge mettle fence, looked rather new (not sure if that was there before but it is there now:P ) Had to make a set of stairs out of stone to get over it, sat on the fence for a bit because it was kinda high and a bit of a scary drop, hurt my ankles when i hit the ground but continued on.
Found the cache! Oh happy days, took me roughly 3 hours 23 minutes to do. Thanks for the wonderful experience and showing me this wonderful place, it is truly massive and amazing.
TFTC and may all those Mary's rest in peace! Wanted to take the Geocoing but couldn't find it Adding a fav point

This was our first cache we ever looked for. After being unsuccessful the first time round at WP1, we decided to give it another shot and went a lot smoother. Struggled at WP5 due to a name mixup but found the cache eventually after a two hour search all up. Great multi thanks for the effort.

This one has taken me about 6 months to complete, I was attempting to show two muggles the world of caching, but there modivation was just not there.. Decided today i would head out on my own and takle it.. This is a great well constructed cache. Thanks
I have re filled the cache container to the brim with a variety of trinkets.. and swapped TBs also...
Great cache... Favorite from me.

TFTC,
What a great experience. Having made a mistake with my calculations at WP5 yesterday, I returned with Nana Nell this morning to finish the adventure. I found it amazing how much information can be learnt from and the stories shared on Headstones. We left via a side gate into First Avenue and walked around a bush track to GZ. Having read the previous log, I took some extra precautions and used very heavy gardening gloves when I picked the Cache container up. I guess the nesting spider has moved on to find a better location. I have to say we were impressed with the work that has gone into setting this adventure up and have added it to the list of favorites. We swapped the "Pathtag" for "Treasure of Easter Island Travel Ingot" which we got from "3300". We hope that this will encourage others to undertake this Cache and use it as a trackable swap location. Thanks to "SWAG aft" for the experience. We visited with a group of trackables learning about Sydney.

After meeting mrryanmurray at Transposing oats yesterday where we talked about this Cache, I decided to give it a go. Having finished Uloola GC16MEE I thought it could be finished without to much effort. Ouch, Having reached WP5 and experiencing difficulty, it is now a work in progress. I dont know if we got the previous WP correct or not, but I will be back to have another go. Interesting to read the log by Neon-knights, I hope that the FUNNEL WEB SPIDER UNDER THE CACHE is gone before I get there. Thanks for the warning.
This was our first mutic cache we had done, and we must say it was a challenging one. But a very interesting way to do a cache.
What started off as a nice midday/afternoon walk that we knew would take a ruff of 3 hours turned into a 4 day walk and challenge.
Starting at WP1, we went around and tried to do the maths which was rather a challenge ( as we both failed maths in school )
but when we got to about WP3 being very confused on maths and the sun slowly disappearing behind the trees, we decided to walk home and try again the next day.
As the next day rolled over we went back and started where we left off, still finding it a challenge to do the maths,
we decided to download a scentific calculator to see if that would help us out, but it still was challenging,
so we made a few calls to family and asked them for some help on the maths.
Even though it took us 4 days to finally finish this cache it was a nice walk around the cemetry,
seeing all the diiferent graves and finding it rather sad at some of the ages there that life was taken.
The youngest that we saw was stillborn, so we paid our respects.
After jumping the fence to what we thought was the right way, we both injured ourselves.
But did the walk fine and as we came to the cache and picked it up,
we were greeted by a nice funnelweb spider that has decided to make its home underneath the cache.
Picked up the iron on stamp, and left a pathtag that was picked up on the OzMega, as thats all we had on us,
and the other half ( my boyfriend ) wanted the iron on to be a kid
Items were a bit damp, but the log was fine, so we logged our find, and started to head back.
Lovely 4 days though, nothing to complain, and as we came out of the track,
we both decided that we would go pay our respects and visit both of poppys that we found there during the week, to our surprise.
Thanks for the cache, and the walk.
FOR FUTURE CACHES THERE IS A FUNNEL WEB SPIDER UNDER THE CACHE VERY AGGRESSIVE TRIED TO KILL BUT ONLY TOOK A LEG FROM IT

Took 2.5 hours via bicycle. An enjoyable afternoon well spent. Thank goodness for the last names in the hint or else there would have been a million Marys to track down. Took the path from First Ave to GZ. Log and container in good condition. TNLN TFTC. A lot of effort went into preparing this cache... Very excellent work.
Well this was an interesting Multi. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk and seeing some of the old gravestones and memorials. I agree there are lots of Mary's in this cemetary (and probably as many others).
I was coming a little unstuck at one WP due to tree cover but a fortuitous phone call from a mrryanmurray that just happened to be passing by, dropped in to point me in a better direction and I was soon back on track. Thanks Mate for the guidance and chat.
With the rest of the WPs in hand I decide to take the track and not partake in the FSU (Fence Sitters Union) that others have tried (mind you, it is a quicker option).
Enjoyed the little bushwalk and found the final WP straight away (this was the most accurate GPS coord of the day).
Thanks SWAG aft for this great Multi. It has taken me some years to get around to it but was well worth the few hours to complete.

This is by far the best multi I have done to date!!!
It took the best part of 3 hours to complete. Very fascinating walk around the cemetery. I recommend to walk so you can see the other graves as well, however it is over 3km round trip.
WP8 got me a bit stuck but I used a different calculator that adds things differently and came up with the goods. Don't quite understand how though???
Used same calculator for WP9 and off to GZ. Coords spot on throughout.
Nice size container. TNLNSL.
Interestingly there are hundreds of Mary's in that cemetery, if not over a thousand. Also the oldest Mary was buried there in 1896, Her name is Mary Cremin.
Thanks for a wonderful cache and an opportunity to visit some people who may not have had a visitor for a very long time...

found it ... only took 2 goes
this was good fun , was rather pleasant wandering around the cemetary on a nice autumn afternoon, was almost a shame to find the last Mary.
TNLN signed the book.
TFTC very clever and good fun

What a great cache!
We did this by bike as this seemed the most direct way to get from WP to WP and also the fastest. We had fun finding all the names and marking them all off. Coincidentally my grandmother was a Mary MacDonald, but not that Mary MacDonald!
We got stuck on the maths at WP8 for a short while, but luckily geoson was there and showed us how to do it!
All the WP's were found fairly easily and then it was off to find the cache itself. We took the wrong path and ended up bushbashing back up the hill, completely making a meal of what should have been an easy walk! We replaced the bag and pen for the log book, but took the old one to bin as it was black with mould, smelly and slimy and totally illegible, and making all the contents damp. Took the mock, put in a cool toy car and replaced the dry container, logbook and bag.
Thanks SWAG aft for this cache, and the effort you must have gone to to put it together.

Well we finished it! After three hours of roaming through the cemetery we were thrilled to have finally finished it. The whole set up was well thought out and very interesting. Found an interesting Mary...."Rose Mary Lamb" died 18th March 2008, aged 92 years . Replaced the log book although the whole bag needs replacing. All waypoints were easly found although at waypoint 5, we did find the Mary Ball married to a Bell as other logs have stated. To find the final cache we entered the walking track via First Avenue, to save us climbing the two metre tall fence. Left mock (mobile sock) SL TFTC.
This has been my closest to home for a very long time, but I've never quite gotten around to trying it. I drove ast yesterday and noticed the "Dogs must be kept on leash" sign, making this an excuse to combine walking the geo dog and grabbing a cache. After yesterdays premature end to caching due to a missing pet rabbit at home, I told oldest daughter (who owned the rabbit) she had to come and do a cache today to compensate me - I did forget to mention how long the cache would take!
With younger son also in tow, he 4 of us headed into Woronora Cemetary for a walk. The kids really helped, extra eyes made the find in many of the waypoints. WP2 gave us some trouble initially butwe soon got the hang of what to look for and went on our way. WP5 was the next hitch especially finding a Mary Ball married to a Bell, could that be her? No, the correct Mary was located a little further up the same row.
Eventually we'd visited all the Mary's just the cache to go. we drove around to First Avenue to tackle the cache from the walking track rather than taking the fence option. A nice walk, especilly good for Tally, now able to have some off leash time at last. The cache was wet as the container is broken. I'd brought a spare container having read previous logs and replaced the broken container. Could the next visitor bring a new log book? You can sign the old but it's somewhat stuffed.
All in all, a most excellent and relaxing cache. Thanks SWAG Aft!
best wishes,
Wal, Juls Jeremy, & Tallly

This is a very rewarding 'found it'.
I was optimistic with this one that I could complete it in less than a few hours investment but I think in retrospect this is how long it must have taken .
I got the info at the start one morning then on the next visit got to I think WP3 before having to get to work. The next visit had WP4 wrapped up and onto WP5.... Not taking into account the previous logs here I thought I was off the mark with something. So another visit and I somehow found WP5 about 20m to the East of where I thought it should have been. A subsequent read of the logs and I found I wasn't the only one that had that issue .
It was then off to WP6. WP7 was another visit in itself from memory and then WP8 and WP9 a further trip.
By this stage I'm thinking the gardeners have probably got a watch list out on my car with so many visits before work of a morning [^].
So once GZ was calculated this morning it was off (and yes up and over) to find the cache which was a short walk once the fence was disposed of .
The cache is like a mini kids swimming pool though and everything is soaked through. I tipped the water out but this one needs a look at. I twould be a shame if it needs to go as it really is a challenging and satisfying cache to complete. I enjoyed the time spent wandering around the cemetery.

Mr Us had not long gotten home after doing a few simple caches this morning thinking that the afternoon would be spent mowing the lawns & doing some odd jobs around the house.
Then, the call from Mr H came in asking what I was up to! Now.... what to do - mow the lawns, or head out & find a long multi with a mate - tough decision that! NOT!
So, of we went - Mr H from The Hancock Clan, Mr Us & Little Miss Us, hoping we could find all the required WP's and do all the maths! I'm glad mobile phones have calculators in them these days .
Anyway, WP1 - No problems.... WP2 pretty good - all good so far, just had to work out what we had to do with the sets of numbers available.. WP3 - had the info pretty quickly there & moved on to WP4.
Again, we had quick success & then we headed to find #5. This was the first of the stumbling blocks, and after a bit of a search we came up with the right numbers. At this rate, it loked like we were going to knock this over pretty quickly - you beauty! Then.... WP6..... wow now that eluded us for an eternity - so many Mary's, but they were all being contrary, as they refused to have the correct name! Do'h!!!! Finally Little Miss Us yelled out "Found it" just as someone was walking past walking their dog.... I wonder what he though! LOL.
Anyway, data in hand, we headed off to WP7. If only they were all this easy! WP8 was nearly as good & 9 - well it was a good feeling to get to this point inside the 2 hour mark.
Info in hand for GZ, the said barrier was definatley going to be a hurdle, but we were more worried about the mourners nearby & did not want to upset them by havinig them spot us scaling the fence. Off we went to find a more secluded place to get around (or over or under) the barrier & we soon did that. Once we were on the correct side, it was a quick walk down to find a nice sized cache in a nice secluded area.
Woo-hoo - yet another close by multi (in fact our closest to home multi) has been put to rest. Mr Us & Mr H have been enjoying these caches & soon we will have completed them all within The Shire. We will have to travel further for them soon!
Thanks for the cache SWAG aft - a really good one & it got the brain ticking over. Well done.
Cache was a little wet inside, & we dried it out as best we could.
TFTC
Cheers.
PS - If future cachers are worried about scaling the barrier, just leave the cemetary & walk down the path along the northern fence. You could then skirt the fence till you get to the correct trail.

Cheers.
PS - If future cachers are worried about scaling the barrier, just leave the cemetary & walk down the path along the northern fence. You could then skirt the fence till you get to the correct trail.
An afternoon off between rehearsals for the Edinburgh tattoo and what to do? Well, what else is there to do with a few hours spare on a Sunday afternoon! So...a quick phone call was made to the Usat31 team & before long we found ourselves seeking one of the few multi's we have left in the area.
We first started this cache about 2 years ago but gave up after being unable to find WP5, and have been meaning to get around to it since. Of course, all previous workings out have been lost! So it was back to square one again this afternoon but with the extra eyes of Mr & Little Miss Us, it didn't take us too long to get to that elusive WP5, which was finally found. But that turned out to be nothing compared to the next WP, which almost saw us concede until Little Miss Us screamed out that she'd found it - well done!
From there it was plain sailing to GZ (apart from that 2 metre obstacle!) but we're hardened cachers and it takes more than that to stop us in our tracks! Anyway, as mentioned in a previous log, the fence that's been erected is most likely there to stop people getting in not out so we didn't feel too bad! However, you should be able to access the cache from the other side if you take the track from Linden St along the northern edge of the cemetery and then follow the fence line to the track as stated in Usat31's log.
Thanks for an enjoyable relaxing afternoon's caching before heading back to moore park for more fun & games...

Finally after about one and a half years I returned to try and finish this. So after my visit to the beach and now much more aware of the hints, I resumed my search at Wpt 2. Well I felt very blonde for quite some time because for the life of me I couldn't find any Mary's that had the said mentioned pieces of information. I think I roamed in a circle for about 15 minutes until I just gave it a go. I must mention that this Mary is the only one that doesn't have the age mentioned. And that's what confused me. So ooff I went and took my car with me, saved myself some time and back tracking. I found none of the coords took me straight to Mary, I really did have to look. And the woeful Wpt 5 had me searching about 20ms away but I stumbled upon it much the same way that I found all the others. There were muggles about and I did have a story ready if anyone asked what on Earth I was doing with all those calculations. In fact, the calculations were the easy bits, and thanks for using the maths the way it is supposed to be used. Division and multiplication always comes before the other 2 basic operations. In recent times caches have popped up with the most bizarre mathematical equations and utilising their own kind of maths.
Finally, I had GZ and yep came across the barrier. Reading through past logs it appears that the fence has been there since 2004. Not sure how else you get onto those tracks but I just climbed over the 2 m fence in my thongs. Wasn't really a problem. I think its more to keep people out not keep them in. You won't be seen unless the local diggers are doing there stuff. After all those Wpts I was surprised how easy it was to find the cache. Unfortunately, the cache is suffering form neglect. It was full of water. The log book was OK thanks to its bag and anything on top was dry too. But the water had caused some jelly- like slime to start growing on the some items. I didn't have anything to dry it out with. I just drained the water and did what I could but it really needs a maintenance visit and the cache completely dried out including some of the things in side. I tried to cover the cache a bit better but it really is at the mercy of the elements. Nevertheless, the final approach is a very nice walk despite the barrier.

FInished the clues over two days. But struck the barrier problem. Can the cache man let us know how to get around/through it? Or maybe move GZ?
Man oh man my first Multi for quite sum time and boy was i glad to see the cache wen i got there. Found all the waypoints without any trouble except for no.4 which i wasted a bit of time on. Watch out for the butcher birds at No.3 and No.2 i got sconed twice by the swooping buggers. Very enjoyable cahce highly recommend it, i got it done in 1 hour 45 mins which i was quite proud of
We liked this one a lot. Well.....once we got our act together and read the notes properly we liked it a lot. No problems at the first WP but then at WP2 we thought what kind of a joke was this!! With a couple of prime candidates and a third possible all within a few metres we thought this could get tedious plotting and trying all the various permutations. We actually started to do just that (we're not very bright sometimes), however on seeing these aforesaid permutations were a couple of klicks away even dense 'uns like us'ns figured something was amiss. Sat down on a nearby convenient seat and perused the cache page properly. Ah there you go - that'll do the trick. And indeed it did. (It seems a good friend of ours has made the same blondish blunder - and we count ourselves in that category - so we think we’ll do the humane thing and tip the wink)
We took the usual few hours wandering all over the place, rolling through the seemingly endless stream of waypoints. It felt slightly strange doing what we were doing but we doubt the residents would have minded. Might have thought we were crackers but probably wouldn't have cared. (Indeed I think I heard a bit of sniggering as were blundering around unsuccessfully a couple of times). Paying particular attention to the equations and double checking everything was a good approach with the one miscalculation so obviously wrong it didn't cause a problem. At a couple of spots, (well the notorious number 5 anyway), one has to expand the search area somewhat but so what.
It was enjoyable easy strolling. Finally, like many before us we gazed askance at the final obstacle. Well if rabbits & roos & wombats can deal with this sort of thing so can we. So we did. Soon we were carrying out the cache business in a nice quiet corner of bush. Great cache! Fine way to spend a relaxing few hours so long as you don't relax too much on the calculating front. We made no swaps.

This may have to be a work in progress. Found Wpt 1 but gave up at Wpt 2 when I found 3 Mary's all in an 8 m radius, now how do you know which is the correct one?
Had a good time on my first geo cache with this one. My wife came along and we had a nice historic couple of hours wandering around the different waypoints together. Only had trouble with one of the waypoints, had to have a good walk around finding wp 5, it's there, just not 'exactly' there. TNLN [xx(]!

Took a couple of days after work to do this one. Mary, Mary where are you? Found all the WPs, a couple needed a general search around but all were found. Did the calculations twice, all worked out. Final cache easy to find, watch out for the spider web protecting it if you come from one particular angle. Thanks for the hunt, well thought out multi.

What a day.
Riding all over the place in this heat was not all that much fun and when a few of the WP were out it made me a little hot and bothered.
Finally got there in the end though.
Took clock Left candle.

Did this one over a number of days as I live less than a hundred metres from the cemetary. Had a few probs with the maths, just stupid little miscalculations. But got there in the end. Got a few wierd looks too.

After having a few days off to look after sick kids it was time for some relief, well so I thought. The leisurely stroll around to all 9 waypoints was very relaxing. Bellab and myself had no probs untill we headed for GZ. I knew straight away that my coords were wrong we check out the proposed spot anyway. Anyway after using all my lifelines (thanks to those) a simple mathematical error was detected. Rectified we headed to GZ as the heavens bucketed down. Found the cache after a quick search, no time for swaps, just a quick signature and it was back to the car. Thanks Swag Aft for testing my patience.
played the front nine with one of the Rats, swept through all "holes" but our maths required some revisions to discover finl cache,
thanks for the work put into this one
cheers

Twisties and I had been eyeing off this cache for awhile now, we just had to get a morning free. So when we woke up Saunday and had nothing to do i suggested a walk in the cemetary.
We set off and after a couple of hours had the locations of GZ...or did we??? We spent about 30 minutes digging around somewhere, which we thought was such a pretty place for a cache, albeit no hidey holes. out of frustration i went and sat on the nearby chair and checked my maths. I had made a mistake and we were only 100m out. So back up the path we went and within minutes had the cache. All is in good order.
Thanks for helping us fill in our day and for taking us on a great walk of around the "dead centre of town".
Cheers

Did this one over 3 days. If people knew were we spent part of our weekend they would think us crazy. Thought someone was following us at WP7&8 but we gave them the slip. Finally worked out the math and found the cache with no problem.
Thanks for a very enjoyable cache.

Went on our Mary way around the WP's until we got to WP5, which required an expanded search to locate. Once that was found the rest fell easily. Found the way under the new obstruction and quickly located the cache. The cache is in good condition, although an ant colony had set up home on top of it. They were promptly evicted. Thanks SWAG aft.

An interesting idea, well executed. Other than the obligatory hiccup at WP5, I was able to Mary myself around quite happily. At the final waypoint the cache camouflage was disturbed but the cache was OK. Logged it and put it back with camouflage in place.

We actually found this quite a pleasant adventure - although it's not REALLY the sort of place where I usually like to spend my Friday afternoons. My daughter wants to know how anyone can possibly come up with the idea of making people wander around the cemetery trying to find dates of death in order to calculate geocaching waypoints
Luckily I managed to find a way underneath the final obstacle toward the south-western corner of it - I didn't like the idea of climbing. (Although my daughter went over the top with no trouble at all.)

I did this one a little bit at a time over a few days as I was passing by. I got stuck at WP5. There was a Kenneth Bell who was the husband of Mary. Right next to him was Mary Ball, but the co-ords were far away. I used a lifeline and called SWAGaft who led me to a spot outside my search radius. The others were easy. WP7 was close to my mum's grave so I went and visited. It's just over 10 years since she's been gone.
Yes, the "structure" has now been completed, so instead of walking for miles to get around I simply jumped the fence. The cache was so easy to find that I'm surprised that it hasn't been found. Left an alarm clock. Took calculator (mine is worn out after that escapade). Thanks (I think) aft.

Really stuffed this one up on our first visit. Having a horde of kids with us initially seemed beneficial as we mowed down the waypoints in no time. But as the day wore on and everyone got more weary, errors started to creep into the calculations and a lot of time was wasted.
In the end we gave up for the day and came back in the morning refreshed. The final waypoint gave up it's secrets in no time and the cache was revealed.
Reception was suprisingly good and the co-ords were all spot on except for WP5 which seemd to be about 15m out. Maybe we rounded the calculation the wrong way.
Oh, and there is also the issue of that new structure that will make access to the cache quite difficult once it is finished. Get in quick or you will have a long hike from WP9 to the cache.

This cache is sort of like eating a bag of potato chips. You know you can’t just stop at one and when you finished the lot you wished you hadn’t.
At WP1 there was someone acting suspicious writing down information who we thought was another cacher but we never spied them again so he might have been someone doing family history. After saying hello to my old man who seems to be hiding under a rose bush these days it was onto the rest of the cache.
The cache setter needs to go and check the route as there is a new obstacle being installed and it will cause a major problem. Left a mini clock thingy for the Walrus.
You don’t really want all those dead easy, co-ordinates where dead on, left dead tired jokes do you? Did not think so.

Beta tested on 29th December.
You know, once you get all the points in the right datum, and cancel any plans you may have for the whole afternoon, it's quite simple really.
Once you have found the cache, keep walking a bit further and check out the view.
Thanks to SWAG aft, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary and last but not least Mary for their help with this cache.

I don't know, you go away for a couple of days and people stick caches in your back yard.
Reception was terrible but for once, bad was better than good and an alternate plan was quickly devised and implemented. A quick wander through the graves led to the cache in no time at all.
We can safely say that the Two Dogs will never attempt this one!!

beta tested for SWAG aft. A nice morning out, wandering amongst the thousands of other people there. Allow yourself about 3 hours, and make sure that you get your calculations right, so you don't end up getting lost like I did.
Beta Tested for SWAG Aft.
Fairly easy to find your way around, but be warned of a few things:
-Allow at least 3 hours to complete this cache, it take s a while to go back and forth and calculate the co-ordinates.
-Make sure you double check your calculations, or else you will end up like me and look in the wrong spot for an hour (taking the total cache time to 4 hours)
apart from that it was a quite enjoyable morning. Left Baby Boeing TB and a shaving kit. Took soft case for GPS ( or in my case digital camera)
