Tftc we were here a month ago but werent successful in finding it. Today my 6 year old found it in no time. Great little treasure to explore.
Quick and easy find, how did we miss it last time? Thanks for bringing us on this walk and as its in the shade it was great to do on a sunny day. TFGC
Don't be fixated by the most likely location. Lateral thinking will reveal . I was starting to write DNF log when my brother located a rather sizable container, containing a fair amount of water, luckily a plastic bag saved the log booklet.
TFTC
Really enjoyed this walk and just being in the bush. Thanks for bringing us here. Log signed and added some treasures

Looked under all the stumps we could find. There are two big ones. Neither seemed to be hiding anything?
Had a very long look around here with a previous finder but came up empty handed....
I had a good look in/around what I think is the right place to no avail. Will have to go back another time to find
Queen's birthday weekend in Northland. Escaped from civilisation a little bit earlier....
Haha! You've got me here.
Almost gave up. Got stumped and all sort of things.
Yep it got muggled... Yep an easy way to say as there is nothing at posted coordinates.
Had no replacement with me.... But hold my beer! What's that?
Wow.... Super hide in my opinion.
Great size. Enjoyed to sign the log...
TFTC!!!

This was an exciting find. Kids said it was their favourite. Took a bit to find it. Was bigger then we were expecting
Messaged cache owner a photo so may have been hunting wrong place. But sadly no find for us today
Another one which appears to be missing - Muggles, DOC mainenance, hungry possums ?? - left a temporary cache until owner can replace.
Its a lovely walk through the trees here. Finally we were here without uninterested extras and could stop for all the caches. Found a few painted rocks along this stretch of path too. Bonus for the kids! TFTC
We found this and lots of painted rocks along the same bit of trail. Thanks.
Found with Polyannan. On a family walk in the rain. Good find by her. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent (signed TB on micros). Find # 2211
Revisiting the OG cache , the kids were 5 & 3 when we first found this, still going strong, we loaded it with goodies
Bit rainy and slippery today, my phone GPS was all over the place, so an interesting couple of hours around the loop. Great views and a nice walk. TFTC
My 200th find! What a beautiful old stump, hunted for a while was harder to find than it should have been. After reading Remaker13's post I found it easily. TFTC!
I've often thought about popping out to get the caches on this track. I was in deperate need of numbers today as I was nearing my 2000th cache milestone. The kids and I left home at 5am because I wanted to find 15 caches before the cito event at 10am in Waipu for my milestone cache. My GPS was all over the place in the bush today so the 8 I wanted turned into just 3 finds. I hadn't planned on that many dnfs so this put me behind schedule. With not many easy park and grabs left for me in the Whangarei area my hopes were falling. I pressed on.
With my GPS's low accuracy today it was tricky to locate an exact gz. We looked at the spoilier image and we all said, "we've seen that!" We had to backtrack a fair way. My daughter found this well hidden cache after I'd looked all around the hint item. Thanks for the hide in this nice piece of bush

Great hide took awhile as I was looking under the wrong part. Fantastic to find an older cache and such a big one.
Such a beautiful sunny Anzac Day why not make the most of it and go for a hike, with some geocaches along the way of course! Tftc

With rebel98 and muggle visiting this lovely reserve
What can I say? this was certainly a very sneaky, tricky one to find!
It took a little while to locate, and extra research needed to be done (luckily I had saved this on cgeo). Yep we are in the right place, so where is it? eventually the cache revealed itself, relieved to have found it and had a mini celebration.
Thanks NZWide (Maintained by Grobyc) for the hide, and bringing us to this place.

I can't believe we didn't walk straight up to this huge cache, but other obvious hidey holes had me searching elsewhere for a while, until steed set me straight.
Lovely to find a big ole trad cache, added some big swag.

Out doing the Taheke loop track. GZ was soon found, but the cache proved a little more elusive. Like Vistra before me, I widened the search area but after 10 minutes still had nothing more than a bit of a fright from some silently approaching muggles.
I wasn't about to let it beat me, so started back at GZ again and worked my way out, looking really carefully for anything at all out of place. This time I soon spotted what I was looking for and I too was amazed at how well hidden this larger cache was.

I decided to venture out to Taheke Scenic Reserve this morning, a place I haven't been to for quite a number of years. While taking a lovely walk around the loop track of the reserve, I stopped at GZ to take a look for the cache. A quick search of the most obvious feature revealed nothing, so I had fears that the cache might be gone - especially as it hasn't been found for some 15 months! I extended my search area a bit and something caught my eye and the cache was soon in hand! This is a very well hidden cache considering it's size! A nice old cache in a lovely patch of bush - favourite point added! TFTC!
Had a good search found nothing. Stump is pretty well worn out. Doc has just finished making steps through out the track, maybe they removed it.
Wonderful hide. Without the spoiler we may have given up. Sadly, listed TB wasn't inside the cache. TFTC.

Found as part of the walk to waterfall. Great view looking down and along valley to next range of foothills. TFTC.
Nice quiet walk to gc. Live in the area so thought i would take the time to find it. Good hunting.
Found this cache for the second time - this time while on a hike with the Shackleton Cub Group and Whangarei Young Mariners.
One of the spoiler photos can be misleading so if you don't find the cache at first, keep looking as it is close by.

I was saving this beautiful track and cache to do with the Grandies but I couldn't not do it today on my return from Kauri Haven and making it 3 in one day with the Mackerel Track. I am stoked.
Had a special moment there with the cache contents laid out, surrounded by a stunning bit of bush, the Rosellas being very excited about Spring time and the roar of the waterfall in the background.
Took nothing and left a stone elephant to join the plastic one already in there and a little kiwi to help fill the large container. I was disappointed that there was no sign of the Chain Gang Bike Coin, another reason I checked out this cache - anybody know where it has gone?
The cache is well hidden, not in the most obvious place and I was surprised at the size of it. Nice and dry inside after our wet Winter. Thanks so much for this cache. I will have to be back with the Grandies

Out enjoying a wee spin in the Geonut with Hokiangler today. Beautiful day for an awersome bush walk. Took about two and a half hours enjoying the kauri haven track plus doing the Loop track. Cache all good. Just waiting for a few more visits to such a beautiful place. Waterfall was flowing fast today. Looked like a few maybe wild pigs had been up on part of the track as fresh sign. A must do cache .
Thanks for the cache this was my first ever! Was well hidden and took a while to find! TFTC!
Found with King, New, and Wee Luna... Great cache. Awesome hide!
Big bro and neice came too... niece found it... introduced MozzyMoses to Geocaching.

Hehe! Great cache! got lost as ScruffyNZ and I went down the wrong track!! 3 cheers for scruffyNZ going on a hike with me when he had woken that morning for work VERY EARLY!
nice place, thanks for bringing us here! beautiful waterfall, i just had to cross the river to view it from the other side lol. after mucking around at the waterfall, it was dark by the time we reached gz, sparkyxx soon found the cache even though it was well hidden. thanks!
It took us almost an hour to and back to the cache. My son (3 y.o.) was really brave - he made all the way on his own foot. Good job!
Put the geocoin and latvian coin in, and took the playing cards out. Thanks for this great walk and greetings from Latvia!

Great track and falls, took a while to find cache as it was a really good hide, carried on to Kauri Haven cache.TFTC.
After last nights boozy-bus trip to the AllBlacks game (woohoo! pasted the boks) a refreshing jaunt in beautiful bush was definitely on order. WHY have we put these caches off so long?... well, the dog is always with me and the carpark hasn't much shade, but today it was late and a definite winter chill in the air so after his walk (elsewhere) he had a nice nap in the car.
Forewarned by Riser5's mishap, made sure to stick to the main, well marked track and found a nice dry cache quickly and easily.
Went clockwise & did the full loop; what a great track! Looks like they have done quite a bit of work recently, building it up & chipping it to help protect the kauri roots. Ran right past the turnoff (looks as if some markers there have been removed) ; so once finding the cache, saw there was still just enough time & light and backtracked to find the other cache.
Plenty of room in this cache, but only "dipped" the TB "BearBait" as these don't seem to get visited very frequently (shame!) and the only bears in NZ are the edible gummy type! or perhaps there may be some in zoos?
Thanks for a great cache!

Arrived at the car park for the Taheke Reserve Cache and left the car at 1.45pm. I stopped to have a look at the view of and from the waterfall; little did I know where I would be next!
I started walking along the track and then stopped when it looked like the path was going in 2 directions. I got the GPS working and it pointed me in the direction of the right, so off down the right-hand path I go. It started to go down the hill, didn't think much of it, just thought that the track may need to be fixed up at some point.
I got to a wooden barrier, the top of the poles were orange so I thought, ok over I go and follow the track type thing (Bad Idea! It was probably just a track that water had carved out along the top or where someone may be doing something) Half way down I am thinking, Hmm, then SLIP! Phew, that was close; fortunately I had my new walking pole to stop me from falling down the steep "track". I got out my umbrella and used it as another pole, thank goodness for golf umbrellas! I got to the bottom after a few more slips and then decided to follow what I could make out of a "track" and it led me to the water, the gps had thrown me a curve ball and was telling me to go across the river, thought about it for a sec and turned it off and back on. I checked the GPS and it showed me having to go up the hill next to the one I had just come down. $#!%!
Ok well I better get started up the cliff!! I get over the creek and start to climb. Once again thank goodness for the Pole and umbrella! After a long trek trying to find the safest path up the cliff/hill I reach the ridge, I know it’s not the real path but there is a light one trailing through the bush, possibly a doc track or an animal one. I finally reach the top of the ridge and get a good GPS signal, and soon enough I find the real Path. Phew, no more trudging through the crazy bush, gorse and the unknown.
I start to make my way up the path and finally get to the cache site. Easy to find GZ without a gps as it is right on the path and had a search and found it straight away. Cache is still dry and all is well, Thanks for the cache.
Now on to the Kauri Haven cache!
I started up the track with a few stops along the way to take some pictures and continued along till I got to the corner of the loop track that had another track that branched off to the side. I thought I would be cautious this time, but it was the right one. Took a while to get to the cache site with a small shower in the middle, umbrella to the rescue! Rain wasn’t too bad so I kept on walking. Got to GZ and had a look around, not too hard but the kauri the cache is under is dead and falling apart slowly, possibly in the future it may need to be moved. Wrote in the cache and started on my way back.
I decided to go back along the way I had come instead of continuing around the other half of the loop track. I got back to the place I had crawled out of the bush and followed the path I should have taken. I got all the way back to the place I had started to take the wrong turn. I scratched an arrow into the plastic as to point people in the right direction. I stopped back at the waterfall to have a look at where I had been in the wrong and then continued back to the car park. I got to the car at 4.15pm. It was uncanny! Exactly 2 hours 30 mins! The time it said it would take to take the track to the Kauri Haven end and back, I stopped at the waterfall twice and went rambling down the hill and back up again!
I took a picture of the sign so I could plot where I had trekked and then went back to the car. Just as i was taking my bags off, it started to rain! I couldn’t believe all that had happened. I did the track in the time it said and I got back to the car and then it started raining. I drove home and the last really weird thing that happened! I pulled up and parked, and it stopped raining!!! Someone up there must have been smiling on me. Thanks for the awesome hunt.

Easy find and a nice walk with some of our friends. Tree cover made for a nice cool walk on a sunnt day. TFTC
We'd been meaning to come on this visit for ages but it was either too hot or too wet. Today was "just right", said little Miss ex-Goldilocks. Came back along the loop after seeing the Kauri Haven but the GPS was throwing red herrings and we didn't have the spoiler pic as the pocket query doesn't download photos.Luckily..we had groybc's phone number. With a further hint, of course NZWide wouldn't put it IN the stump, we found the enormous and lightly covered container. Dry as a bone and all in working order. Cheers!!!! NINO
nice day for walk with the kids. track was a bit slippery, gps got confused due to bush but thanks to my sharp eyes and a photo of the spoiler we found it ok. left a geo coin and some trinkets, the kids scored a couple of toys., well worth the walk amounst the kauri.
Found by the Smith family and a few HoraHora scouts out for a days hike. Teaching someone new about the secrets of GPS use and geo caching.
Needed the clue as GPS reception wasn't the best with an old Etrex and we walked right past ground zero the first time.
Picked up the Geo Coin and will move it on to a new cache as it has been here for awhile. The scouts were interested in how trackables work, so will follow the coin's travels.

Quick find in light drizzle. We enjoyed our walk through the bush. Some huff and puff required to get to GZ. We also checked out the nearby waterfall on the way to GZ. Thanks for the exercise.

Nice walk (it was overcast so not to hot). Stopped to catch my breath and check the distance and realised I was standing by GZ. Had a good look around the obvious spots with no luck and resorted to the clue and the photos - quick find after that (that's a nice hidey hole). Cache is still dry and incredibly well stocked, but didn't take any stuff with me so TNLNSL. TFTC.
Enjoyed the walk in. Searched for half an hour, didn't have the spoiler photo, however we were searching at the right site. Always very cautious not to damage the environment, but thought we searched that particular site 3 times. In the end retreated grumbling, however had a nice walk.
My oh my, this is a tricky one! Had great fun finding it. Thanks again .

Cache check, yes it is still in its cunning little hiding place and cache is nice and dry.
We had a great walk today in Taheke Reserve. Is was a bit rainy and a lots of mud, but that was part of the fun. The cache, however, is not there anymore........
Nice patch of bush & a impresive waterfall.Good hidy hole for the cache !!
Cache found all safe and sound.

Lovely peaceful walk, although the lower loop track is very slippery at the moment. Very glad to get rid of the laughing fish in my bag, which was driving me crazy on every step! Took Grey Cat in the Bag TB.
Thanks, M@
Thanks, M@
Ocean found it.... We had a brilliant day, 7 kids, 4 adults. Made it impossible to creep quietly through the bush!! We took along the ShadyBunch, and borrowed a couple of kids from our friends...
We took out some stuff, and put in some stuff, but I can't remember what it was.. I know there was a glow stick that went in among other things
GOOD HIDING PLACE!!

This one had me doubting the ability of my gps and myself was so sure I had the right place I would have bet the house on it.Had me running up and down the track banging my head on the trees in frustration checking the gps.Was ready to drop kick the trusty blue legend to the falls. With tears in my eyes and on my knees it was time to grovel to the man who had beaten me for more clues.A cell call and I was rejuvenated with extra hope and a cause Thanks NZWIDE

Nice walk in the bush, slow find but a good place. Had to find this out as it was a bad one to walk in and out of with my bad leg. all the roots and steps were not good so made it a slow trip. Leg was very sore when I got back to the car.

Glad to be the first, last cache in a long day of Geocaching. Took off on an unmarked track which got terribly steep but then we noticed we had a fabulous view of the falls, while looking for the camera in the back pack our water bottle fell out and disappeared over the cliff to oblivion. Decided to go back and found the correct track ( clearly marked with orange markers!!)
We knew we were very close to the cache site had the picture lined up but still took us a good while to find it. Excellent hidey hole. Thanks NZWide great challenge and great falls. In sunglass holder out blades.
