Shame this one isn't still going Sad A great cache with some real effort put into the hide.
Thanks for the fun HLD
Cheers M+S [:O)]

Muggled.

Cache archived, thanks go to those that visited.
Stage one was a pipe which had to be filled with water to get the capsule with the second set of coordinates to float to the top, trick was to grab it before the water leaked out the bottom.
Stage two was originally a duck decoy, unfortunately this went south with a big flood. Shame really - It looked very lifelike Smile

Will not be re-instated.

Cheers
HLD

On hold again, while I investigate to ascertain if nearby construction has rendered this unobtainable.
Depending on aforementioned construction, I may remove until works are completed - HLD

This was our second try at this one, and still no luck. Took a printout of all the logs with us too, just in case any clues hidden in there, got very fired up with the people that put things like "nice easy find"! We eventually left but we'll be back!

05-Jun-09
This was our second attempt at the cache.
Some friends who'd solved it a few years ago, gave us a few more hints....which side of the path and what the container looked like (then?) but we still couldn't crack this egg. We find this a foul one!

12-Apr-09
lovely spot but we couldn't find it. looks like 2 others couldn't find it as well recently. we tried- glad we came here anyhow.

11-Apr-09
12.00pm. Found the first WP after looking for 15min and then making a call to another cacher who hasn't found it yet but gave me some clues.
Off to final and with 5 of us looking for 30 minutes we decided to retire into town for some lunch.
After the red herrings thrown up at WP1 am starting to wonder if we need to rethink the whole thing again.
Cheers M+S [:O)]

12.45pm. Spent a good part of the morning on this one. Thats not a criticism, it was enjoyable but so close is not close enough and its hard to give up when you are close. We were out with The Pud and after struggling with the first waypoint The Pud got some more info. A very cunning hide. Then on to the final all confidence returned. We know we arrived at GZ because we did it on the co-ordinates and the projection. Passed the frogs at their lily pond and maybe a couple of scarlet herrings if you let your imagination drift. Couldn't see the concrete but found a few equally solid stones. Best of endeavours however were not good enough. Work in progress for another day.
Thanks HLD - may contact you!!

Has been on my must do list for ages, last time in the area it was not enabled.
Found the clue as cunning as it is and located the final fairly quickly

Oh how cunning. Yet another awesome HLD hide. Keep up the good work mate.

My first official cache find. Good and interisting find, would not have been able to do alone i would say.

13-Nov-08
Still there.

20-Oct-08
Found clue one without much ado
(Thanks to a mate for a hint or two)
Final spot had us confused
No herrings, avians or concrete
to keep us amused.
After an hour we knew we were beaten
Cache has drifted (?) or else its been eaten!

To apprehend the suspect, a quick easy walk,
Tricky, now what to do, so he will talk,
Shared a beer Razz, he quickly revealed all,
Soon had him up against the wall.

Followed new lead with new information in hand,
Nervous, as to whether we would actually find the contraband,
Has it gone, with devastation of floods so high,
Ah, there it is, found with a keen eye,
Signed the log, and quickly hid the cache from view,
Just in time, before muggles walked through.

Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

First finders for years,
And we love this cache dearly,
Top of the year,
headed off merrily.Razz

Many thanks HLDSmile, you are da Man!!

Pending a confirmation visit following the recent floods (again!) Be aware the cache itself (stage 2) may have gone to join its predecessor out in the Pacific.

...Then again, it may still be there. Stage 1 certainly is.

Watch this space.

06-Feb-08
Pretty sure we were aware of what we we loooking for but couldn't find it.

The Dwarf himself later confirmed our suspisions but no time to look again.

23-Jan-08
Couldn't get started on this one, too tricky. Tried chasing a few ducks but they weren't quacking on to what we needed to do and the chickens were less than useless so we gave up and played on the rope swings instead, so all in all not a complete disaster!

15-Dec-07
Back on line following major flooding - Vegetation still very light from flood damage, so please take care to re-hide as found.

Enjoy.

29-Jul-07
Currently under reconstruction following floods.

Another victim of the floods Sad

We were quite pleased with ourselves when we found the first part of the cache. I had trouble reading the info but was quite sure we went to the right spot. Damage to the area was very bad due to recent floods and perhaps it has been washed away ?? In any event, it was a beautiful area, the cache was interesting and the poem was awesome. Many thanks Smile

We came, we looked, we went away sad.

Roses are red, violts are blue
The Hairy Dwarf should be locked in a zoo!
Attempt number one
we were here for the fun,
Attempt number two
we were crying boo hoo,
Attempt number three
had the Dwarf laughing he he,
Persistance is the name of the game
it's the last time we want to try this claim,
Eureka - at last our task is complete
The Hairy Dwarf will not have us beat!!!!

Always enjoy your challenges. TFTC

Ah ha 6 EPE, should have read the additional rhyme in the logs. Anyway first visit got muggled out, just seething with them. Second visit later in the day much better and found tubular clue quite easily. Needed glasses to read the info though! This led to the second arrest where we fell about with glee and laughter and such an ingenious cache. Just brilliant we reckon this has been one of the best experiences we've had and made the day.

10-Dec-05
Oh so many muggles... Thought we'd got it then along came another bunch with fish and chips. As it looked like they were gonna be there a while we decided to wait until our next visit to the area. Hopefully it will be a bit quicker than the last.

I was going to drop off a couple of TBs so I'm going to log their visit even though they didn't leave my bag.

PS there had been a foul fowl murder too. It stank. Don't know how all these muggles could sit so close by either. Yuck.

Well we're back in Northland, after sailing up in the Coastal Classic and had some very unfinished business with Mr HLD .... back to the cache site ... GPS still placed us about 7m short of the tubular clue .... well we pondered yet again, then it came flooding to us ... must have been blind and just not looking deep enough into the clues. Easy find after solving Part 1 ... nothing beats solving a good riddle in paradise, a good start to the day. Many thanks HLD, it was great to knock this bugger off.

13-Jul-05
Wandering around Northland with a GPS full of coordinates but not much else... once again discovered this wasn't a good idea with caches of this type at least! Studied the shrubs closely for a few minutes and then decided to move on to another that might yield more easily.

The Dwarf heeds all No Finds
And has duly lifted the rating
The waypoint I have given to you
Has only a 6m EPE, Good hunting.

But this cache may not conform
To what you expect to find
Approach with patience
Open eyes and an open mind.

27-Mar-05
Too blind, too thick, too frustrated maybe it's just too easy for us... Oh, two attempts - total of 4 hours spent on this one. huh! HLD - is your "difficulty" rating correct??? 1.5 ??? Also the terrain? did you use these instructions: http://www.clayjar.com/gcrs/ ??? You've stumped (so far) our whole extended family (who were with us on holiday)... I mean we would have heaps of questions (eg. is the given waypoint of any help for us, except for getting to the right park!???), but we understand this could be part of the mystery... We'll be back!!!

Greetings from the Dwarf
Who was concerned at thy claim
So he checked stage one tonight
It's intact and still the same.

Do not assume what you think
Is necessarily as it must be
As you ponder, pour a drink
And read the words I offered thee

Cheers
HLD

30-Jan-05
HLD .... thanks for this one ... found part one, the "tubular clue", but alas it was empty .... no clue for part two ...

29-Sep-04
Yahoo we quacked it at last. This one confirmed for us that HLD is absolutely quackers!!
'seek and we shall find' .... eventually

20-Sep-04
Tried again. Broadened our horizons and had fun succeeding with stage one only to be stumped on the final leg. Must be blind as bats. We will return until we conquer. This'll fill the school holidays at this rate.

No luck today. Will have to come back to solve this one.

07-Sep-04
I think that we must be thick!! We spent lots of time on two seperate occasions and could not crack this one. I think that I need a clue. Lovely spot and lots of nice ducks but very frustrating.
I am not sure that I want to thank you at this stage!!

04-Sep-04
Was getting a little too side tracked by what I thought was a clue. Will have to try again the next time I'm up here.
Cheers, M@

26-Aug-04
Excellent.
Just when you think you have seen it all!!
Did this with NZWide. Got close to the first clue then had to go to the pub for a couple of jugs.... then back with the solution that solved the first clue.
Must have looked at cache for 30 sec before I touched it.

A beauty, thanks.

This I can honestly say this was the the most ingenous fun cache I have found. I was invited on a trip north with Smoking Gun to solve this one. Enjoyed going back to Keri Keri to a watering hole and lunch. The solution to solve it came to us after an hour and we went back and cracked it. A very enjoyable day with one great cache. A big thanks LHD.

12-Aug-04
We knew we didn’t have time to complete this one but as it was light muggle time thought it would be worth a look.
We shall return.

04-Jul-04
Returned with required materials to complete first stage. Final cache very well hidden! - 2 x carabiners, + packet of safety pins and bottle of shampoo.
Thanks HLD

12-Jun-04
Caught first suspect very quickly, but couldn't extract the required information. Will return shortly with necessary equipment for interrogation!

loved this one.Found first clue within 2 minutes only because my curiosity got the better of me didn't realise it was what i was looking for at the time.found cache easy enough but almost slinked away on tiptoe till i looked a little closer.top marks for ingenuity.traveled from Whangarei just for this one and was well rewarded
Thanks HLD
