I needed to clear my head after a full-on week, so I headed for the bush. It was so enjoyable to walk and cache in the Dandenongs and surrounds today. I've driven by this lake and park many, many times, and had no idea it was here. I checked all the likely spots I could find around GZ, but couldn't locate a container today. I did however count 9 ducks!, and two shags perched on an overhanging branch for good measure. Hopefully the cache is still there somewhere, and I just missed it.

01-Jun-24
DNF - Gave up search the moment I looked up and saw a foxes eyes staring back at me from a burrow located less than 50cm from the GZ.

24-May-24
Out for a caching night with MsSmokeyBear, we decided to grab as many of these as possible. In the passenger seat I sat, being the navigator...I plotted our path out and off we went. This one was just the first taste of the ones were were going for this night! A nice little walk and a quick scramble, we had the cache in our hand! Well hidden and a nice placement. TFTC

11-May-24
TanSaf and I braved the wilds around the lake. Unfortunately neither had brought our walking poles with us to balance on the uneven ground at GZ and gave up . Rather than return the way we had approached via Old Reservoir Road, which was virtually impassable due to crowds looking at an Open House along the road. We walked back to the playground at the other end of the lake, a delightful walk . Unfortunately ducks were heard, but none seen today.

02-May-24
We came here today as we were alerted that the cache was likely missing. It has been a few years since our last maintenance run here. Not much has changed, except that there are now gates on each side of the dam wall, which takes away a bit of the fun, but it is a bit of a drop off one side. On arrival, we could not spot the cache within close proximity to where it should have been so we just replaced it.When logs come up for this cache, we love to receive a duck count. To our delight today, there were indeed - exactly nine little ducks sitting on the dam

No luck today and then it got dark.Hunter

17-Aug-23
Nice quick find with a mate from FisherFamFive. Found it out in the open making it a bit easier TFTC Smile

16-Aug-23
With my good mate Adam for one of his first caching experiences around the Belgrave/Tecoma area. After having a race down the hill to GZ, the cache was spotted instantly out in the open. Upon replacement we have covered it up better to protect the longevity of the cache and for the next finder/s. Tftc Rabbitto

Never knew this was here, very tucked away. TFTC

Well, this one took way longer than it should have…..I did not have a ‘girl’ look to start with! What another stunning spot you have brought me to.
Thanks for placing the cache Rabbitto.

Down for a training at Camp Belgrave and dashed out on break to grab a cache. Such a pretty area this time of year. With a few trees down around GZ I wasn’t sure if the hint still applied, but was pleased to discover it did. Thanks for the nice walk and change of scenery. Thanks for the cache.

02-Oct-22
Out for a drive in the Belgrave area with BoabTree and muggle husbands on a beautiful sunny day.
A gorgeous place for ducks to live. Thanks for bringing us here Rabbitto.

02-Oct-22
Out and about with Echidna44, we knew we had to find this cache as we saw seven little ducks at the previous cache, The Rain Garden. We strolled down the walking g track and found the cache in a logical spot.

03-Jun-22
Logging my trackable to all found caches to date

26-Apr-22
I've driven the Belgrave-Hallam Road thousands of times and never knew there was a giant lake here !

Thanks for bringing me to this park !!!

26-Feb-22
Only 5 little ducks came out to play. Red Face
I guess the rest must still be over the hills and far away. [8)]
But there were plenty of dogs walking their owners and other muggles in lycra running from something we never saw. RazzWink
It was hard to be nonchalant at GZ, but catnap777 and I managed to sign and return this old cache as surreptitiously as possible. Cool
TFTC Rabbitto. I don't know how the rest of the series is holding out, but this cache and the clue within are doing fine. [^]

26-Feb-22
Oh dear, somebody has killed all the ducks. Be vewy, vewy quiet, I'm hunting ducks; yes ducks not those waskly wabbits!
Just kidding. There were some ducks paddling about on this golden pond Big GrinRazz.
Thank you Rabbitto for this cache needed to fulfil Jasmer caches.

11-Jan-22
Great view, I counted more than 9 little ducks.

28-Aug-21
Found this cache today while on a walk with the geopups. They love this park, especially watching the cute little ducks who are now out swimming on the lake. So glad we're heading into spring
Thanks for the cache!

Found it TFTC

31-Jul-21
The turn around point on my lovely walk along the rail trail from Upper Ferntree Gully to Belgrave (including this little detour down to the lake via the rather steep Lover's Lane).

A nice easy find in a quiet spot with nobody around. Well hidden! TFTC Smile

12-Mar-21
A quick find while on a birding walk around the lake. The high spot were the male and female satin bowerbirds. Thanks to Rabbitto for the cache

10-Mar-21
Trackables aren’t really my thing but I managed to squeeze two into this container before I left. Just a beautiful spot.
Funny how apparently I only had one trackable in my possession though. ??? Oh well. Sort it out later.
Puzzle pieces going well with an idea of what is needed now.

30-Jan-21
With some free time this morning DAB and I decided to grab a few select caches. Thankfully the one spot to park was available for us to use. A few muggles enjoying the location as well as plenty of ducks sitting on the dam wall. We started looking in the wrong spot before moving a bit further over and finding the cache.

**Thanks for placing this cache for us to find Rabbitto**

21-Feb-20
A bit off track but finally found it with a little help.

08-Jan-20
A detour on my way home from work, to continue my streak.
Nice to find another 13th cache, and thankfully it was a nice easy one because I was a bit worried about snakes in the super long grass along the track.

07-Nov-19
We needed to find a cache hidden in May 2004 as the final qualifier for a 4 caches hidden in each month of 2004 Challenge cache, and so this cache was the next cache on our target list to search for. The cache was quickly found once at Ground Zero and log book signed. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

20-Oct-19
Out and about with Fitzelfleas and geochild. 4th of 7 caches from the 13th series today Smile Would you believe there were 9 ducks on the dam wall? Smile TFTC

05-Oct-19
What a beautiful area, and if not for geocaching, probably never would had known of it’s existence. A few people out and about enjoying the lovely weather, but only the ducks in the distance watched our progress to GZ. Great coordinates made an easy find, then a slow walk back to the car so we could appreciate this reserve.

Thank you Rabbitto for showing us this lovely place.

30-Sep-19
Found with the newbie girlfriend! Tftc

26-May-19
After making the decision to stay local after a big day of caching yesterday, I ended up targeting the unfound 13th cache series. I have been slowly workingmy way through them, though I also have a nasty suspicion some of the puzzle information might have been mislaid.

I have never been to this reserve before. Now I know it is here I will certainly be back. I love how caching brings you to places like this. The view from GZ was lovely. TFTC

17-Jan-19
At first I stopped on the road above the cache but figured there must be a better easier approach so I drove to the other side of the lake. Decided to take the shortest route to GZ which meant i had to disturb a few resting ducks along the way. As I approached GZ I noted a gentleman just off the track at about the right place for GZ. As he stood up and returned to the track a little startled that I had seen where he came from, I quickly asked that one word question, "GEOCACHING?" The look of relief that crossed his face was priceless. After a quick introduction, I quickly gathered up the clue and signed the log before we discussed a few tricky caches around the place. Very nice to have met you tim_amy. TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams

There were certainly a few ducks on the pond today but I did not stop to count them. Having a previous failed attempt on this cache I was keen to make amends after seeing the CO had replaced the cache. I followed a man walking his dog on my way down the beginning of the track and walked slowly until he disappeared around the corner before making the dash up to the cache. Having already been here I had a good idea where to look and quickly had the cache in hand. After signing the log and recording some details I was replacing the cache when I noticed another person walking my way. Do I hide until he passes? Has he already seen me up here and wondering what am I doing? Don't want to appear suspicious so will just climb back down and say hi on my was past. climb down and was greeted with a question. GEOCACHING? "Um yeah" Seems we were both there for the same reason. Always nice to meet another cacher but would be better without the busted feeling before.

Thanks Rabbitto for the cache.
Found at 5:23 pm on 17/1/19.

Had a good search for this one and found where I think it should have been but leaving without. Looks like the bark has been cleaned up

29-Nov-18
This really was a beautiful spot here, and something wouldn't have known was here even if in the area. A few locals were about, as well as the ducks. Hope this old series keeps on living - fantastic!

09-Apr-18
Love this series! Looking forward to finding the 13th Cache!

10-Jan-18
Found this morning as we begin our day caching in Belgrave. Cache a little damp on the inside but otherwise all good. TFTC

28-Nov-17
GPS was a bit wonky and led me to a vicious ant who bit me on the knee and leech that likes the look of geohusband! Should have ignored the heat and worn jeans for bush bashing caching

02-Oct-17
Just catching up on logs... Found while walking dogs in a new spot for us. A great place to walk!

Lovely day to be out and about! Geokid found this easily. Another for the series. TFTC

19-Aug-17
Out with SciFiRulz, finding our way around the area, looking for caches. I have a reputation for not keeping my ducks in a row but all nine were present today. TFTC

19-Aug-17
Found with MazzyMay. Took a bit of a walk around the lake to this cache. There was a shorter way but it involved crossing the creek and we didn't think we could manage that. Lovely spot and I even managed to get a photo of nine ducks. TFTC

18-Aug-17
What a great area for a stroll. At first I was wondering if I should have bought my kayak today, but I soon found the path. TFTC Rabbitto

Had been here a few weeks ago but forgot a pen. We decided to approach from the other end of the dam today which required rock hopping across a creek - lots of fun. Tftc.

10-May-17
Having found some of this series a while ago it was time to try and progress some more. It is now the morning of the next day and we are tracking down the clues for the 13th cache.
Continuing our good progress of the morning We found the track ok along with parking and continued down and around the track. A bit of a search to uncover a well hidden cache. We noted the puzzle piece, signed and re hid. TFTC

Found It with clancy79 but forgot a pen will come back hopefully on Sunday to put our names in the logbook

Great find. Looked & thought no way. Sis did it though. Good on her. She is happy. Tftc Smile

21-Jan-17
We snatched this one on a dog walk after using the hint. Yes the tree is rather obvious. Gps not so accurate in the area.

13-Jan-17
Found this at lunch time, a little light rain about but I hoped to beat the more widespread prolonged rain which the weather prophets had prophesied for the afternoon. Interesting weather with a couple of moments of really quite warm air and cold rain. Quite the contrast.

I hadn't been here before, it's a nice little park. Only a few people around so not too hard to retrieve. Took a little while to find it, but soon had it signed. Walked right around the lake, a few ducks around, didn't see any really young ones but there were definitely some little ducks around. Maybe nine of them?

Thanks for the cache.

First of 2017! Took the gingerbread man (seemed fitting) and left a little Seal toy we found in Ubud, Bali
Logbook full, needs some maintenance!

08-Jan-17
This was one of the several caches that i found today with my muggle friend from high school Nick. We decided that we would catch up and drive around this area picking up some cache as we went. He thinks that geocaching is neat and if happy to hang out and drive around for the day whilst I go around looking for tupperware haha. Anyways this cache was quickly found after we decided to just bush bash to the cache as it was only a short walk away...... to learn that there was a path only 50m down the road. Anyway thanks for the cache and the lovely ducks whom wanted food we didn't have.

This serene reserve was a new location to me. It was so lovely with the sky and trees reflecting perfectly on the still waters of the lake. The sound of children playing and laughing on the far shore made the whole scene just lovely.
As for the cache, I somehow went right past the hide on my first approach, lol. But I soon found what I was looking for and had the contents everywhere when I suddenly heard muggles approaching...!!
Today, my version of Muggledodge was to pretend to be fascinated by the arboreal delights and take photos of it from unusual vantage points.
The muggles were so immersed in their walk that I went completely unnoticed - on both occasions. But I was ready, just in case, hahaha!!!!
Signed in on the last page of the logbook. But there is ample room throughout the logbook to keep it functional for some time.
Thanks Rabbitto, for inviting me to another cool location.

02-Dec-16

Another one off the list.
Parked up top and scrambled down to the hide.
No one on the trail at all while we were here.
Made our way back up and then called it a day.
Thank you for the cache and the series Rabbitto.

After finally finding the best place to park. Happy Pants and I made the short and nice walk to Gz. After a few minutes of searching the log was signed.
Cheers for the cache

I feel like I've written this line in a related log in the past: I was on the way to a night-cache when I decided a drop in on some more members of this series. I'm referring to a different night-cache in this instance though, as you'd hope. This is an extraordinary water feature here. Or at least it looks extraordinary as night is falling. I didn't really have the option of lingering so ended up consulting the clue and locating the cache pretty quickly. Thanks Rabbitto!

02-Jun-16
Good hide, easy find. Didn't do the puzzle though as this was a first find of the series!
