Out for a drive and a little caching in the area, not the higher clerance vehicle though, so it was a short mission on foot to some of the cache near Paddys River Rd. This was the first one I did when I had come up the short but stepp walk from the road. A quck find hier all good. Thank you The S's for putting the cache out, maintaining it and contributing to this great hobby we have. Happy trails, Flintstone's
We were driving through this area, and although we had noticed this one on previous visits, we had never stopped here and made the required walk to GZ.Today we decided to stop and took a steep walk up, turned the corner and pretty much a steep walk down again. The container was found safe and dry in a very likely spot, and we have added our name to the log. Thanks The Ss for maintaining this old Hide. Domsky
#3538 This cache was my main goal for the day as it was my second last cache to fill in my required hidden months available within the ACT. A short search and DT and I were now on the log. The new container was found amongst the remains of the original. Cheers.
With a busted knee I needed an accessible cache. T1.5 was still challenging, but as this cache fills the last month for my 2004 JASMER I was pretty determined.
There is lightening and thunder going in around me, but I think I skirted around and to the back of the storm.
Yellow-tailed Cockatoos are going crazy in the distance.
Have added a smaller container and log to the broken one. The old log is composting.
Will go and pick some blackberries.

Started the Mineshaft series ages ago and today was the day to hopefully finish off the remaining ones after a quick trip over Paddy’s River. Gloomy old day and rain expected so fingers crossed.
Container broken and contents spread everywhere but log book still able to be signed.
Grateful thanks to CO for placing and maintaining this series of caches that continue to entertain me on my caching journey.

A nice day for a quick drive around Pierce's Creek forest, mostly targeting the Mineshaft series. Unfortunately most of these caches are in poor condition and need replacing. Nonetheless this cache was found quickly at GZ. It's in a poor state, the log is quite wet but able to be signed. Thanks.
What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
The spot was perfect for camouflage. At least that's what I’d thought when you picked the spot. I couldn't imagine that anyone would ever be able to see it in these surroundings. So there it sat, confident that it was hidden from the world and safe from danger. Unfortunately, you had not anticipated that others may be looking upon it from other angles, and now they were stealthily descending towards it’s hiding spot.
It's always good to bring a slower friend with you on a hike. If you happen to come across zombies, the whole group doesn't have to worry. Only the slowest in the group do. That was the lesson we will all learn one day.
"Explain to me again why I shouldn't cheat?" he asked. "All the others do and nobody ever gets punished for doing so. I should go about being happy losing to cheaters because I know that I don't? That's what you're telling me?"
Thanks
Found as part of the "Adventure Boys Group" today. Thia cache was an easy find. Thanks for the cache and the adventure. signed dsd or AB for ths "Adventure Boys".
This cache and many in the series are in poor condition and need urgent attention. Some cant be signed as they are waterlogged or fhe logbook is wet.

An easy find but the container has perished. The log was dry and I was able to sign it but the log is close to full. TFTC
Staying at Cotter for the weekend this cache helps fill a jasmer grid so drove out for a quickish find before heading home
Thanks for the cache

A few days caching in the ACT and surrounds with Steeba and The Rats, another trip away like countless others that we have done before. We got the dates, we did the planning, we worked out a route. But there was one thing that we could not plan for; the weather.
The caches were excellent. The company faultless. The weather; atrocious. High winds, cold, sleet, rain, mush, icy, snow, we had it all! But we endured, and had a fantastic time regardless. Did I mention that it was cold? Bone chillingly cold. I am not sure my fingers have as yet recovered! Some roads were even closed due to snow, curtailing our route and resulting in some last-minute changes.
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

Unfortunately, I don't remember all the details of the various caches we found in this area. If I remember correctly, this one's container was severely damaged.
We had great fun negotiating the various tracks, putting our 4x4 through its paces. Most of the tracks were tame, but then there were some lovely steep ascents / descents which we did several times in a row.
The only people we saw out here were two motor cyclists who came past on one or two of the tracks were were on.

I picked this cache up after a visit to Gibraltar Peak for a couple of reasons - it ticks an Ausmer for me & I wanted to see the mineshaft from the top, having seen the action from the bottom a couple of times.
The phone struggled to give me accurate bearings & co-ords, but I got there in the end. Cache is in pretty bad shape, not surprisingly given its age! TFTC.

Originally I looked to the cache the opposite side of this one but seeing the grade decided this was a much better choice. I almost made a mistake though. Nearly got too close to the edge parking and found my front tyre over crumbly rock with an undercut beneath. Thankfully my rear tyres had enough grip and my car didn't run forward or spin so I got out safely. Was very relieved and a lot more cautious in further caches.
This cache was found quickly but the container is badly broken. Tftc

Today fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a 3-in-1 day CITO run with caching in-between. B0tmun, death killer & my_name_jeff_1 were all in tow. Most of the day the geo-kids & I signed as MBMD as fitzy had collected most of the caches we picked up.
Last time we were out this way, there was actually a rally on.....thankfully we had other caches to collect. This time it was smooth sailing and no other traffic on the tracks except for a couple of trail bikes. Most caches were found quickly once at GZ.

Back out in this area again today to cleanup a few more of the Mineshaft series. The container has just about disintegrated and needs replacing.
After signing the log it was into the little red beast and off we went down the mineshaft. We had previously looked at this slope and thought better of it but it looked a lot smoother today so we gave it a go.

Had a hairy ride up the steep hill which hubby loved. I think he's starting to channel his inner rally driver. Tftc
After finishing up a walk in the Cotter due to some very dark rain clouds, I decided to come out and find a couple more in this series as the rain was holding off and I wasn't quite ready to go home yet!
I tackled this series about 8 months ago but had to leave about 12 left, today I managed to do another 7 before it started getting late and I was hungry! So now a quick and easy 5 left next time I come, all of which are close to the main road!
I took my 1991 Ford Laser out here again, runs like a beast along these dirt roads and never fails! Saw a couple of motorbike riders, passed them twice in the short time we were here and could hear them zooming along the tracks.
All the caches were found, but most of them require maintenance... Lots are water damaged and old, with cracked containers...
Thanks!
---
I have been meaning to find this one for a while since I discovered it was actually from 2004 and not part of the series! Wow has survived pretty well over so many years! The container might need replacing though, it had a hole in the bottom I think I recalled and the plastic was very brittle.
I am also the 200th finder, wooohoo!

The container needs replacing, for such an old cache I hope some maintenance can be done which would keep it running for another 14 years maybe!? Who knows!
Took a few hours out of the afternoon to finish off the series/area. Was here 9 months or so ago, time to complete the job. Cloudy skies kept the temps down, big fat juicy blackberries at almost every stop, yum yum yum. TNLNSL TFTC
I drove up the steep road from the hill ok, but once I failed to turn right where I needed to I opted to reverse slightly, then get out of there! I didn't trust myself not to lose control. Maybe next time!
1:19pm with Aquilus1 and Youban. WOW! The gang wouldn't let me drive down to the next cache from here, but you know what - I didn't mind them talking me out of it! Cache was easy to find, gave us plenty of time to take in the view. The video footage for this road is very cool too! Tftc the S's!!!
With dty73 and youban on a beautiful winters day, all blue sky and sunny saw us out in the area to find a few caches. Bit of a search at a likely location soon had the cache found. Plan b on the next cache, had some dodgy roads today but not going DOWN that to the next one! Thanks for the cache The S's!
Out with dty73 & Aquilus1 for a day in the country caching. Ditched the idea of driving straight to the next cache. If you come out here you will know why. Gave this a favourite because of the view. Kutgw
#7474 - 12:00; It was still foggy and cold when I set out this morning in search of a couple of large sized caches to qualify for a challenge cache published close to home. The fog cleared after I passed through the Cotter Dam area and made my way to Pierces Forest to make a start on the Mineshaft series, which I've had on the 'to do' list for quite some time and to pick up a couple of large caches while I was at it. I started at the start, but should have gone further along the main road before taking to the dirt. Time was running out as I stopped for this cache, so it was nice to make a quick find. TFTC The S's

Today was an opportunity to finish off this series as I was passing by. I drove in from the south and headed north. I walked to this one from the previous one. I wasn't going to attempt to drive direct, up that steep hill! Easily found . TFTC.

Wow! Only I would be silly enough to do most of the caches on this side of the road in a 2wd. Bad mistake! While the track was mostly good and starting from top and working down works well towards the end the track gets tough. I bottomed out several times on the last Hill.
Next time I'll use 4wd to complete the others in the area. However it was a lovely day and the caches were mostly in good condition and coordinates were fairly accurate this afternoon.
Thanks for those involved in making these series here. I shall return again to do some more hopefully in the not too distant future

A lovely near-summer's day beckoned geocachers out today. I have been eyeing off the old Canberra Rally course in Pierce's Creek for some time, but I was not sure my 2wd geo-vehicle was up to the task. In the end, there were only a couple of places where I chose discretion over bravado, one was the climb up to the collimation tower and the other was down the "mine shaft". The rest was pretty good although the home stretch was a lot rougher than the rest. Quite a few misses today, but there do seem to be a few AWOL.
I approached from the top, and I could not see the road down from the car. Pretty scary. I chose the discretionary route: back out to the main road and in from the other side. I can't imagine driving down at slow speed, let along fast ! I just watched the YT vid of that car that didn't quite make it. I bet that hurt.

So I decided to do some caches on my motorbike, a Posty, and what better area to do that than here on these dirt tracks leading around a forest. Most forests like this are locked by gates so this was definitely a pleasure to be able to take my posty out for a spin with my muggle bro in tow. Most caches easy to find, some harder and about 4, I couldn't find at all. Only 2 soaked to the bone, so unable to log. Prior to arriving my rear brake malfunctioned on me so I had to do with only the front brake (tough) and then my bro tried to take on a hill that was way to steep so had a fall and certainly was sore for most of the day. TFTC. Well done.
Well, that got the heart beating walking up the mineshaft. Quick find at the top and as the day was drawing to a close we headed back down, leaving the others for another day. TFTC
Had slowly gone down the mineshaft in our old xf ute years ago when we were exploring the area, although it was summer then but it was still nice to revisit the area and have some 4x4 fun (going down and UP) in our slightly better equipped SWB patrol!
#1655 I had parked just off the main road, and made my way over on foot. After a quick search of GZ, the cache was soon found. Thanks The S's.
#8. So after conquering the mine shaft and making it to the top we needed to do a million point turn as we passed this one. GPS was playing silly buggers again, had us all over the shop but finally had cache in hand. TFTC
Today we explored Camberra and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. Back today in the daylight to find some more in this series in the Pierces Creek State Forest.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Went on a cache plunder with SiteHound today, and we cleaned up the Mineshaft series (except for one DNF) and a few others along the way! We mostly kept out of the rain (except for a couple) and enjoyed the cooler weather. SiteHound brought home-made ANZAC biscuits and ginger beer, which we enjoyed enroute!

AngelG27 and I teamed up today to tackle the Mineshaft series. We wondered whether we would be able to with the weather threatening rain, but it mostly held off and we were able to complete this fun series. A quick find for us here before going down the Mineshaft! TFTC The S's
We had been down at Corin Dam in the morning and decided to tackle the mineshaft / tulip series around the Pierces Forest region, in the afternoon.
We had not been in here before and enjoyed the nice easy drive around the forest.
We only came across one car all day at the severe incline cache . Plenty of roos and rabbits were spotted around the trails.
Many thanks to The S's for the hide .

What a sparkling autumn day it has been. We've had an amazingly fun day on this forest drive doing what we could with no phone signal. We back tracked along paddies river road till we could populate the iPad geo app and wrote down co-ords for as many as we could populate. We then worked as best we could and took great care to keep our map. It was real geocaching!! All the caches were good sizes and that makes it more fun. We had a brilliant day and give a big thank you to all the cache owners

The plan was to ride my bike around Pierces Creek and find a few caches. Went to the shed for the mountain bike. Damn flat tyre. Decide to walk and drive, though the Laurel Camp Road was in so good condition drove to most of the caches.
All action in the Pierces Creek area. I was pulled up thrice by the police and swooped by police in a helicopter. The police were out looking for two blokes in a black Hilux.

Lovely day and Ali626 and I had a great time out here today Normally I would wizz around on my MTB on the trails to find the caches, but today I thought I'd do something different and drive! Ali626's car full dirty and dust everywhere... good fun... Thank you
Sunday 2 November 2014 - a magnificent spring afternoon with a brilliant blue sky and not a cloud in the sky, in the low 20s - just perfect. Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC.
Found on a trip from Canberra to Honeysuckle creek and enjoyed the drive along the Mineshaft route.
Attending a conference at Birrigai, and with a free afternoon I thought I'd do a little exploring and, of course, some caching. I hadn't really planned on doing any particular caches, just picked a direction and went. I had the forest to myself, and had a very pleasant wander along roads I'd only seen on TV. I, of course, went much slower. I had approached here from the bottom, and the front wheel drive geomobile struggled to get past halfway, something the urban assault vehicle would have not even noticed. I found the alternative, but decided to drive down the shaft and back round again before stopping to search for the cache, which was quickly located. thanks for the cache The S's

Down from Sydney visiting the geosis aka specimenX. Great weather meant getting amongst it with a few caches, so we decided to headout for a spin around the Mineshaft series at Pierces Creek Forest.
Stopped by this one as we were working our way through the series for a nice easy find

Today is another nice day, and it's Sunday. I'm feeling healthy, and the GeoSchnauzers are looking appealingly at me as I pack my Geocaching kit. Bad luck, GeoSchnauzers!!! Today, I'm going out with Knightech in his nice newish Ford Territory, out to do some caches around the rally circuit. GeoSchnauzers are'n't allowed in the Territory. This is number 6 of 14 we found today. Thanks for placing this series, they're great!! . We did park and ride on all of these, nice quick grabs every time.
We had a spare afternoon over Easter so we decided to do some caches around the cotter. Thanks The S's. Cheers
Had to hunt around a bit to find this cache and then I was delighted to find the nice big container. After signing duties I checked out the mine shaft. There was no way I was going to drive down there! Thanks for featuring this S's, it would be spectacular seeing cars racing down here!

Baja15 joined me in a trip to Canberra to drop our grand son off, so we took the opportunity to grab some caches and this trail has been on the radar to do, we started early in the morning and the weather was perfect. We spotted kangaroos along the way and other forest creatures. we stopped along the way to pick some of the abundant blackberries as we drove around. The caches were all in good conditions and well hidden. Some sections of the trail there were great views to be seen. I enjoyed the trail very much. thanks for bringing us here. TNSL TFTC
Found this cache with the Mineshaft series.
Highlight was the ranger who pulled up and asked us if we were lost, he drove off with a cloud of dust and a grin when we waved the GPS and said we were fine. Not sure whether he knew what we were up to, but he definitely made us smile.

And the long weekend Geomission continued with specimenX on a beautiful spring day. OMG the weather today was just AMAZING and we took full advantage of it
I apologise in advanced for the generic logs (I do not generally do generic logs), however today we made 59 finds and a majority of them were on the Mineshaft series.
specimenX was having a ball wizzing around the granite tracks (I am glad she doesnt have anything bigger than a 4 cyl otherwise it would have been a scary adventure [:p])
There were a couple of dirt bikers out here today, however expected to see alot more due to the lovely weather and it being a long weekend. The whole day was very quiet on the tracks for us which made the finds very easy as we were not distracted at all
Along this series, we made a number of quick maintenance checks, we replaced a number of log bags and dried out a few caches. We also had to do alot of rehides as alot of the caches we found were not hidden very well with caching natural camo. hmmmm well we fixed that !
Cache located, log signed, returned to geomobile and off we wizzed to the next location
Thanks for the great cache The S's

Jumped in the hilux on wed arvo for a trip into namadgi to try and complete this series of caches.

Found on a good day for getting the Mineshaft series. Saw this one ages ago, but once this series came out, it was the perfect time to get it. Came to the mineshaft just to have a look the other day - WOW, that's STEEEEP! Such a cool track, then it's topped with such a cool section like this. Parked just before the mineshaft, then went to get this one. A nice easy find at GZ. Good to get an old one, especially a cache by "The S's"! Now, to go to the top of the mineshaft to look at the view and to plug on more co-ords. TNLNSL. TFTC The S's!
One last quick find, since there is no way I was going to drive down the mineshaft, I learned my lesson earlier today and am now running late so time to head home.
Found this one during my geomission though the forest. A nice easy find this one [^] Thanks for the cache The S's!

We came across some local trail bike riders who were having fun on the Mineshaft...Holy %^%$ that is steep. Would be great to see the cars go over that sucker!!! We didn't attempt it, we parked at the top and walked the short walk down the hill....TFTC the S's
