13-Jul-24
I found it before anyone got up there

02-Jun-24
Not sure where we went wrong here. Couldnt find anything at my GZ even though the spot matched the hint exactly but didnt appear to be a spot a regular cache could be. After I hit my head and discovered a dead rabbit we decided to move on. TFTH we enjoyed reading about the dog line.

TFTC from the Kayakviking! Picking up some caches on the way back from our 3 Capes Trip. All quiet today for a little history and a walk.Typical a Muggle turns up right next to GZ. Sat it out b4 the quick look.Cheers KV

#2781 This is my day 263, and the longest physical cache find streak so far. I want to see how far I go. I am on a family vacation in Australia, and Tasmania road trip is our main highlight. Today, we visited Port Arthur and found caches along the way. Thanks to modern technology, I was able to solve the multi yesterday. Today, I found the cache and double-checked my answers. Thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan @ February 22, 2024 11:52:09

Time to head back to Hobart, but there is always time to stop and grab another cache A very interesting bit of history, numbers grabbed and a quick find. A great day out and about.TFTC SnuvaKeep smiling

08-Jan-24
What a great sculpture, although the dog looked very scary, glad it was a sculpture and not the real thing. We eventually calculated the final coordinates after a couple of typos by me and we made the short walk to GZ for a reasonably quick find, again by jo2022AUS, 3 in a row for her tonight. Nice little multi TFTC

08-Jan-24
Here in Tassie for 5 days for a little break. After a lovely walk along the beach we thought it time to start heading back to base. Along the way we collected a couple of caches. Interested readTFTC

31-Dec-23
After a nice little walk and easy calculations a very small regular was found. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.

31-Dec-23
This was the fifth find for Smiley1982, bunadoorian and myself today. Thank you for showing us this piece of history. I did the calculations on site and then wandered to GZ. Cache was found without attracting any muggle interest. TFTC and for bringing us here Snuva.

13-Dec-23
Interesting story of the prisoners, and the Dog Line. The data from the dog statue sign was obtained, and the new GZ was searched. With the help of the hint, the cache was found.

Find # 10608On a brief work trip to Tassie and I have a long list of caches to collect so no time for spinning the wheels Couldnt believe my luck to land this trip before year end so I can soon qualify for a number of different challenges requiring a visit to the 8 S/T in the year. Picked up the trusty SUV hire car on arrival and off I got. Making the most of the opportunity to duck out for a few hours of caching fun. Seeking out the occasional challenge or two, or trying to mop up as many solves as I can to keep that long list under control. Seems to increase faster than it decreases Nice quick multi and easy find here today on my way back to the airport to fly out this evening. Thanks for the fun times Tassie, I will be back. Thanks so much for the many caches Snuva and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light

19-Nov-23
As an avid animal lover, this spot and history is a sad spot for me. But it's also nice that it is recognised and not forgotten. We had the coordinates wrong at first but after a quick re check before taking off, this was rectified and we were soon at GZ with cache in hand.Thank you

12-Nov-23
soon had the necessary info. in hand and made it to GZ with no worries. Groped around a little bit until the small ..... not regular ..... sized cache revealed itself. Missed all the muggles passing by, and settled the cache back into its obviously safe but very convenient hiding spot. Thanks go to Snuva for creating this multi.

16-Oct-23
We were pleased to make a find of such an old cache on our way past. TFTC Snuva

I love finding these older caches.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Snuva

26-Aug-23
It was time for a return trip to Tassie to explore the southern part of the state. I paired up with OzHockeyChick for a 5 day caching blitz with some sightseeing in between. Today was Day 3 and it was time to head east towards Port Arthur.

A relatively quick find as we continue our tour around town.

Thanks Snuva for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

This was probably my fourth visit to Tasman Peninsular in4cent months but my first to have he opportunity to attempt this cache. After visiting the sculpture and gathering the information the coordinates of the final the cache was a quick find.

09-May-23
One of twenty-two caches found today with Zozetta in the Eaglehawk Neck area. We began the day with a find just outside of Murdunna, then continued down to Pirates Bay, Eaglehawk Neck, Doo Town and the Tasman Arch and Blowhole. We also found two more caches at Boomer Bay on the way home. An excellent day out with many high quality caches found. In total we had twenty-two finds and two DNFs.

After a quick solve we made our way to GZ where it was a quick find.

Thanks for the cache Snuva!

TFTC! Quick find. Crazy cold wet weather blowing sideways!

We heard about the dog line while doing the escapist tour at port Arthur yesterday. On the way home today we stopped here to enjoy the sculpture and grab this cache

Thank you for placing it here for us to enjoy

We are visiting Australia from Florida, USA for a multi-week vacation which will have us visiting two states in Australia (Tasmania and the ACT) we missed in 2014 followed by 28 days on the Ovation of the Seas including New Zealand and a Transpacific to Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

Today was our fourth day of the trip and our first full day in Tasmania, with the forecast of a beautiful day we set up a routing to the Port Arthur area and back to Hobart. We had eight Multicaches, three Earthcaches, three Virtual caches, six Unknown caches, four+ Adventure Lab sets on our to-do list, we would also surpass the 1900 Multicache finds milestone today.

Sad story, we did the calculations and went to GZ, a little search and we had the cache in hand, thanks for a fun multi. tftc!!

07-Mar-23
This afternoon we have travelled out past Eaglehawk Neck and are now caching our way back, collecting a few caches at places of historic interest. There was a rather strong cold wind blowing making conditions a bit unpleasant when we parked and began our walk to the WP - Poor Cachers! We had no difficulty extracting the co-ords and then headed off to make the find. After that we just headed straight back to the car without doing the touristy stuff. Thanks.

#5235, 2023-02-28 at 18:51,

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.

Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

Not that I’m a fan of those type of dogs but it’s still horrible treatment. Makes you wonder if, as a race we’ve improved?
Thanks for the hide & Snuva

Im visiting Tasmania for a week-long geocaching trip with some other New Zealand cachers.Today we picked up rental cars and headed out from Hobart to Port Arthur, stopping on the way there and back to collect a few caches. This multi sounded pretty interesting, and so we thought we would stop here on the way back to Hobart. The puzzle didnt take too long to work out, and we soon had the cache in hand as it wasnt too far away. The log was signed as GNTJ. Thanks for the interesting multi.

Day 3 of an 8 day caching holiday in Tasmania. Signing as GNTJ or TD23 depending on whether its part or all of our NZ caching group.

Had some fun at the statue taking funny photos.

I am touring Tasmania with a group of Kiwi cachers. I’m looking forward to seeing the countryside, the towns and cities, finding lots of caches.

Logs signed GNTJ for GraciesGPSfun, , NZB, TrinityNZ and Judee.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Snuva.

Found this one on our way to White Beach for the next couple of nights. Pulled in and after watching the kids make a collection of more outrageous photos we found the cache and had a climb and muck around before heading off for dinner. A favourite point for the photo opportunity

Dropped the rest of the family at the nearby zoo and raced up here to see what I could learn about puppies! Okay, parked close and walked to the GZ and the statues. Did the relevant reading. Have some numbers, now to try them out. Okay, seems reasonable, lets go look where they lead me. Clues are spot on and my name is now in the log. Thanks you for bringing me to this spot!

01-Jan-23
Wasn’t planning on finding this one given it was just a quick stop to look at the statues however while there for the hell of it we crunch the numbers and the final location turned out very favourable for us and when At gz we made light work of it.

03-Dec-22
On the way to Port Arthur we stopped here for a look at the dog line and for the cache.

Find #12957

In Tassie for a few days with beckNmonts and Earthbound Chief. Have been having a ball and continued along our merry way with some fun cache finds.

Day 4, our final day in Tasmania. The plan was to try and do as many earthcaches as we could as well as whatever else we came across.

Our final day in Tassie for now ended up involving quite a bit of driving, a heap of multis, some ad labs and of course the mentioned caches.

Massive thanks go to Snuva for placing this one.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

We have realised that we have nowhere near enough time to find all the puzzles we have solved for this trip. So what will we do? Today we will focus on Multis and Earth caches instead!

Mazda StarBounceSky, the Standard Poodle, and trip mascot, is enjoying her view of the countryside via geocaching. Apparently it was hard when she lived in the Hobart Airport Bookshop.

Earthbound Chief, ahomburg, Mazda and myself started the day at our now “regular” breakfast spot, to caffeinate for the day, then headed off again with our gratefully borrowed fishing pole and ladder. Today we were venturing further from the accommodation with some earth caches in our sights.

Thanks for the caches and puzzles we have had fun solving, Snuva

Mazda was very alarmed at the poor puppies fate

Our kids are finally old enough to look after themselves for a few days. So, with my wife having some holidays coinciding with their school holidays, she and I took the opportunity for a quick 6 day tour - with no kids - of a few carfeully selected areas of Tasmania. We opted for the first night in Richmond, before continuing on to Bruny Island, then Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula.

I had pre-solved the multi, but still took a walk over the neck to take a good look around. The container took a fair bit of scratching around to find. All in good order.

Many thanks Snuva.

Having seen some finds on this one i planned a day down this way to not only grab this Golden Oldie but to also (Hopefully) grab Silver on [GC9H5BH] and to also grab 2 more on the Pirates Bay beach.

Having already done the solve of this Multi i ducked down at GZ to see if i could spot the tubed-booty Big Grin

Saw it almost immediately but upon removing the log i discovered it was literally soaked. I took it back to the GeoMobile and preceded to delicately remove the 3 pieces of paper and dry them out with the heater turned right up and the fan on flat out Wink

10 minutes later all 3 pieces were dried out and i SL at 11:22 on Tuesday 26 October 2021.
(pic provided for proof of find).
I added a plastic bag as to attempt to keep the log dry Cool

All is good and dry now. Replaced the cache as found.
TFTC Snuva Smile

(Those Poor Puppies were brave given what they were subject to but i reckon the Convicts that dared to escape would have been more so lol Big Grin)

I’m sure the offspring of these devil hounds live at the back of my place. The barking drives me madder than I usually am and I’m not willing to see if their bark is worse than their bite.

Needless to say it is a cruel but interesting part of our past. Thanks for highlighting this area.

22-Oct-21
Totally agree with the sentiments of the title, reading about this chained up dogs. What a great deferment though! But yes those poor puppies who were out on the actual water! Eek! Cache was found after a short search and some limber gymnastics. We managed to get ink to paper but this really could do with a replacement in the near future.

22-Oct-21
What an incredibly horrid history this area has! Those poor dogs. Thanks for showing us this memorial!

28-Sep-21
It is there and was a quick find today. You aren't however looking for a regular sized cache which may have been the issue with the few DNF posts. Log is very wet. TFTC TNLNSL

Cache was in awkward spot, may need slightly moving and log paper was wet, otherwise enjoyed it.

Wednesday 7 April 21.
That's one angry looking K9

Did the sums checked under all the rocks twice and widened search in case a furry critter stole it.
No luck for me here this morning either

Stunning area. True Tasmanian beauty

24-Mar-21
Well that’s disappointing! Only a few rocks too and not easy to return to. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for bringing us to this spot Snuva. Taurus Six was unaware of the history of the dogs at Eagle Hawk Neck and the role they played in keeping the convicts from escaping. Interesting yet very gruesome also. Once we had coordinates the cache was trickier than we expected and we were very pleased to finally have it in hand and logged.

18-Jan-21
Those poor puppies are a little bit scary! It didnt stop my youngest munchkin from giving him a hug though ?? Cache was found after a little bit of a hunt. Thanks for the fun multi and smiley Snuva Big GrinHappy to part with a FP for this cache!

Caching is guiding our travels as we enjoy a range of hides highlighting interesting places on our Tasmania holiday.
We have driven past this location before, not realising the historic significance or the age of this hide. Today we enjoyed the history, the view and the satisfaction of signing this multi cache.
Thank you for your cache and helping us work towards some of our caching goals.

gridge98 decided he wanted to go for an overnight trip to hobart and collect a few caches and also head down to port arthur to collect the old virtual. I was keen for a drive to get some hours up for my Ls and to find a few caches along the way. A great trip away and some cool sights seen.
Apologies for the generic log.

This multi was on our must list for the day, a cool sculpture and the numbers were easily had, off to GZ where a quick find was had

Today JLROCKSTAR and I set off early from Hobart to the Tasman peninsula to find some caches for the day before having to return back to Launceston for some commitments. Overall 28 finds for the day.

It was the last day of our Tassie holiday and with an evening flight home, we were always going to be taking a drive somewhere for the day... which at the last moment became the Tasman Peninsula to take advantage of a second day's entry to Port Arthur. Afterwards, still with a couple of hours to fill in, we started to slowly make our way to the Airport... stopping for a few sights... and caches... along the way.

Thanks **Snuva** for this Cache... a great place to visit while in the area... especially after visiting Port Arthur.

Took a moment for this one as I looked in the wrong spots first. You know, to eliminate them. (Ha!) spotted it quickly, then and made the grab. Tftc!

29-Feb-20
Found with Lekker_Ding.
Had to stop for a police breath test right out the front before we could drive in. Found the dog and info and then suspiciously searched right beside the police for the cache. Found a micro in good condition with plenty of logs so guessing this is a replacement. Thanks Snuva

29-Feb-20
Found it only thanks to S_38 being willing to go on hand and knees, feeling around...

The statue is great, same artist as the one who made the devil statues at the airport- such an amazing artwork!

It’s still used a place of no escape as there was a drug and alcohol check just at that very moment we visited.

Thanks for the cache, driven past so many times... finally stopped.

Suscoe was wandering the roads of the Tasman Peninsular today.
It was a lovely day with some drizzly rain in the morning, some sunshine as well and a solid South Easterly wind.
The roads were quiet down here today which made the wandering quite pleasant.
We did a lap and a bit which showed us the range of the countryside from farm lands to bushland and everything inbetween, we were also amazed at the number of homes located around the delightful bays.

Thanks to Snuva for this cache. Great to learn some more about the Convict times.
The cache needs some TLC.

After a wonderful day at Port Arthur my Muggle Sister, the driver, was persuaded to stop to let me find this cache. A pleasant walk to the statue - no wonder pups growl at this ferocious looking beast! While I was sorting the numbers my Sister took a seat on the dog Off to GZ and I used a stick to bring the cache out of it’s hiding place. Thanks for the cache greetings from the UK

Première cache de ce type pour nous. J'adore ! Merci

07-Jan-20
After meeting some fellow cachers at the tessellated pavement we pulled up behind them here as well. As we weren’t the first ones to park then I suppose that technically we were the stalkers.

I went to grab my reading glasses to work out the fine print and the numbers we needed when I discovered I had lost them somewhere. I can’t count how many times I have lost my glasses at caches and being a big boy I can count all the way to five.

We ran back through our photos of the day and it looks like I had lost them at a cache in Dunalley. We decided that after looking for the cache we would make the drive back to see if they had survived (they had). Whilst we worked out where my glasses could be our new caching friends had found the hide and were just finishing up as we arrived. tftc

The dog line statue is fantastic. What an amazing history. Took a bit to find, but eventually got it with the help of a muggle.

Tasmania Day 2: Maria Island and the Tasman Peninsula

Today’s jam-packed agenda saw us heading to Maria Island to marvel at some cliffs and wombats, before heading south towards the Tasman Peninsula to take in the geological wonders of the area. Today’s journey showed us how dramatic Tasmania is in terms of its sheer mountains and how the forces of man and nature have shaped the unique history of this place. Thanks for all the caches placed by the various owners that highlighted the wonders of this gem of an island!

This is the specific log for this cache:
I had read for the Dog Line before coming down to Tasmania, including the story of a prisoner attempting to escape by dressing up as a kangaroo, before getting chased down by the dogs here. I really wanted to get the cache here and see the sculpture, so I made the stop. Picked up the data and the cache easily enough after poking around the tree for a bit. TFTC and for highlighting this spot!

While in Tasmania with PlagueRider, we stopped at a few geocaches as we wandered around from place to place exploring this little gem down under. This was one of the ones that we found. We had no idea that they did this to dogs! This was a very aptly named cache. Thanks to all cache owners for putting these out here for us to hunt!

We are currently doing a lap of Tasmania and this week we have based ourselves at Seven Mile Beach, from where we doing road trips every day to see all that takes our fancy in the Hobart region. Today was our Port Arthur day but we made sure to leave time in the afternoon to check out all the accessible natural attractions on the Tasman Peninsular ... where, funnily enough, caches just happened to be located.

After hearing all about the Dog Line from guides at Port Arthur, it was good to be able to stop and check things out things here ourselves ... and even better to be able to mark the spot on my geo-map. Thanks for the hide Snuva.

We enjoyed the walk around the museum they made the right decision on the restoration. Interesting to read the story about the dogs and the statue looks particularly vicious. No problems with the numbers and the cache was a straightforward find. TFTC
