Logs

02-Feb-11
The equipment needed to do the 4th cache in this series is once again missing, after having been replaced several times.

We have also been told several times, that equipment to do with other caches in this series is missing, only to visit and find the equipment, albeit well camouflaged, in an area known to often have poor or intermittent reception.

Given this, and some recent logs in the series, we have decided to proceed to archive this series of caches.

12-06 5th find of the day at 14:11 and 1066th find in total.
Had no idea what to expect with these caches. Came armed with binoculars and lasers but as it turned out the low tech approach is still active and works just fine.
Took the pathtag.
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Chookies for the caching fun!

27-Sep-09
We found the cache fine, but it didn't contain a clue, so I think we're stuck.

27-Sep-09
Found this one with Monch's mob - had great fun with the devices, all was working well. TFTC.

26-Sep-09
Had a lot of fun doing these with squalid, even though this one doesn't have a clue any more. Looks like someone has taken it, but it's a great fun cache anyway.

Couldn't seem to make it work...the failing light and the chorus of "can we go now?" was making my blood boil so we huffed off in disappointment. Though we gave this a red hot go...couldn't figure whether to go forwards with the second point or go back...tried both directions...uphill clearly seemed the red herring, downhill...I tracked for about 150m and up to 20m either side looking at every tree and got nothing. The previous logs made this sound quite easy...I'll have to come back with more sunlight. Though it is tempting to try this at night with laser pointers.

Having just done LOS 1 this one was closer so I tacked it next. The item was found, the set up was followed, and lo and behold there was the cache. After so long that this is working so well is a testament to the original set up. Great fun and no wonder DAK had this in his list of all-time favourites.

23-Aug-08
As with Line of Sight 2, great idea and something different for a cache. Relatively easy find for this one. Couldn't find any clues in this cache as stated in the long description. Either taken or missing. May need to check this cache. Anyway, had fun finding it and look forward to trying to find number 1 on the third try. TNLNSL. TFTC.

Found by Bob at 1340

After my success at #1, this was next closest and I bush-bashed my way directly to it. I think I liked this one better because the equipment was fairly precise and well calibrated and I was able to follow a very slight trail and spotted the cache hide very easily. I took the required info from it for #4, and there are only a couple left, so a cache maintenance visit is probably in order Smile.

TNLN

Thanks again Chookies - an excellent concept for a cache

Wow...a bit of work went into this. Thanks.

This was fun! Found it pretty easily....anticipating the next cache in this series Smile T keychain L keychain SL.

Find# 1865 and 15th of the day at 3:23pm. Accompanied by Feathertop on another caching day in the Dandenong area. Because we had already done Line of Sight # 1 we knew what to do here and made an easy find, most enjoyable. TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx Chookies....Big Grin

20-Oct-07
This was the second of this series tackled with Oenze. We were becoming old hands now at this new caching approach and soon had the cache in our hands. Thanks chookies.

26-May-07
We took this cache as our second,
Less walking this way we reckoned.
We found the items stashed away,
and brought them out, our game to play.
The race was on, this cache to find,
No one wants to be left behind.
With lots of fun, the cache was found of course,
and we swapped a lizard for a seahorse.

22-Apr-07
Going over the hill, and this was on the way. The required object was quickly found and the next stage lined up. We confidently walked to the object, but it was not as it seemed Smile. A little while later we arrived at GZ for an easy find.
Two down, two to go.
Thanks, Robmc.

22-Apr-07
This was our second in the series even though its listed as third. It was simply closer. Not too much trouble here either although we didn't use the object beyond the first place to use it. Simply lined up the brackets thereafter.
Don't think that constitutes a hint.
Thanks again.

15-Oct-06
3 was closer than 2 so why not? I missed C but found it on the way back to B. And now to fill in 2 between………………

4.00pm
Found by Roma and Max together with The Swaggies.
How time flies when you are having fun!
This was the one that almost shot our well made plans down in flames.
We were fast approaching a state of desperation when Daff saved the day with her observation. We know from many past experiences that the girls are just not pretty faces on these searches.
We took a small Picture Frame and left the usual Mondo Figurine.
Thanks once more Chookies for this never to be forgotten experience.
Romax.

23-Apr-06
Once again we trekked across the countryside in search of the impossible. A Chookies cache. We found the gear and set it up. Easy we thought. Line of Sight, no worries we had done all this before, so we set off. 40 minutes later we gave up and set off home worn out and tired. Then we made a discovery, and Daff saved the day. Located the cache at 16:00 and made the swaps.

Took Aussie Flag Tatts.

Left Phone Plug.

Thanks to Chookies.

05-Feb-06
Again an enjoyable cache found with piggysue. I love using all the devices, a very clever way to cache! Took something and left something but I'm blowed if I can remember what! Sorry. Thanks for the cache

05-Feb-06
Another interesting device and another cache soon in hand with Piglet for company. Having fun. now off to 3. Thanks Chookies. T. highlighter. L. Aussie tattoos

20-Oct-05
Found at 14:30. Well as I did the bush bash I spotted something that did not belong and the cache was in hand with out using the device, my eagle eyes were inform, but they let me down later in the day. The spiders I would meet on the way to this one.
Thanks Chookies. Took a card and left a horse and a cow.

23-Aug-05
Two are down and I now want three.
I'll have this one if takes till Tea.
Well it didn't take too long to locate this one and I was on my way for the Last of the series. TNLN

06-Aug-05

23-Jul-05
"Down under the bark, And under the leaves,
There’s some gear in a tube", the instructions revealed.

Sure enough what I found, was a sight to behold,
and off on my quest, I started to rove.

So I raised my self up, found the grove like it said,
It slotted in nicely, and away I did went.

The trees were all found, down the hill I did stumble,
I got to the last, and to my knees I did tumble.

With a one, two and three, I had in my hand,
the instructions in print, to find the last stand.

But what did I forgot, the thing that I needed,
was to find number 2, before the hour exceeded.

So off I did trot, and away I did zoom,
to the find the next cache, well, number 2 I presume.

...continues... in Line of Sight #2

17-Jun-05
nice and easy find thanks for another exciting line of sight cache.

29-May-05
Found the cache containing the device quite easily and once again marvelled at Chookies humourously warped mind. Had a little bit of trouble finding the second location but once we did all became very clear. The cache was found exactly in our line of sight. In our enthusiasm we left the swaps at waypoint 1 so being lazy we TNLN.
Thanks Chookies can't wait to see what you come up with next.

16-Jan-05
What fun this cache is, t'was quite easy to find,
Took out a toy Barbie, left a yoyo behind.

07-Nov-04
Found at 4pm after a quick trip back to the car to apply insect repellant and tuck pants into socks. Saw this one was on the way to #2 and thought we would do it next. Had a little trouble finding our way there. But once we did we had great fun finding the cache once again. Took meerkat, left a smiley face clip. We were starting to get very wet, but thought we'd press on all the same...

24-Oct-04
Found by Mary & David at 1500. Aother ingenious twist to the theme. We actuall spotted the cache while approaching from LoS #2, but went on to find the tools just to see what we would find. Took key ring, left Barbie. Then sat down to assemble all the clues before heading off to #4. Thanks again to Chookies.

21-Oct-04
Found by caughtatwork at 13:45.
Another outstanding set of toys at this cache and the final location was sorted in just a few minutes. TNLNSL.
Now with all the clues, off to number 4.
Thanks Chookies.

Found with Sikma and Jazwoz. Very inventive, great concept. Thanks Chookies

28-Sep-04
The instructions for this cache are all on the cache page above. The only clues needed are the ones to be obtained at the end of this cache, to enable you to complete "Line of Sight # 4". Nothing is missing.

As for the co-ordinates, these were checked & re-checked on 9 different occaisions, over several days with varying weather conditions. These have also since been confirmed by other cachers. -Have a great time

26-Sep-04
Found at 1.50pm, this time a lot easier than LoS#2. Just love the concept and the intrigue. Great idea.
Took: Fridge thermometer, Left: Yellow Stabilo.
Thanks Chookies.

25-Sep-04
Found with BeccaJ and Evil_Hitman.

Another one with 2 GPS's pointing to a different spot.
But still managed to find ok.

TNLN

Thanks

25-Sep-04
found it but as before the co-ords were out significantly. There also appears to be a location for instructions inside the toy container but no instructions present. We used our deductive powers and experience with previous caches and established what to do.

Great cache and thanks again guys.

TNLN

25-Sep-04
Found the first waypoint pretty quickly (once again, GPS was everywhere!), but a vital clue seemed to be missing.

We used our deductive powers and figured it out in the end.

TNLN

Thanks Chookies!

We started this one with about 10 minutes of daylight left and finished moments before dark.

We have decided to leave #4 for another day. Since the Line of Sight name implies that you need to be able to see where you are going to have success.

The method involved in this cache has the potential to strech a simple cache into a great walk in the park.

Managed to find our way back to the car in the dark and head off home.

Took a torch (but no battery) Left 3 bandages.

Great series Chookies and I'll be back soon to finish # 4.[:0

It's a pity that 'Mastermind' the ABC show is not still on. I would nominate this 'poultry family'. It seemed as if I was about to be a part of something special.Wink
More fantastic 'devices' at this one. And we are really 'into it' now. How inspiring Chookies.
Don't worry though, my 'inflated' confidence was about to be punctured at #2.Sad

IN: Mini picture frame
OUT: Dairy key ring

Doing the rounds of the Berwick caches with barcoder. This was our second LoS cache. We found the "gear" quickly enough, and pressed it into service. By 1300 we had the cache and the next fistful of clues for finding the final cache. Now, on to LoS 2! We were feeling pretty clever by now, but the typical Chookies challenges at LoS #2 brought us back to Earth somewhat! (Of course, after "Down by the Riverside" and especially "From Rags to Riches", I was starting to expect Chookies challenges by now.)

IN: Small torch
OUT: Toy car

After a quick revisit to LS1 off to this one. Very interesting and another twist. This is what the armed forces have needed for years![:p]

In red car + koda TB visited but was too big to stay.
Out role of tape + Fred & Mary TB

Thanks Chookies

Found it without a problem i found this one quite interesting

04-Sep-04
Found 16:10, and we thought the first one was good, this one was even better.

Took Coloured pencil set and left Meercat, thanks Chookies.

04-Sep-04
Decided to do the right thing and wait for Biggles to go ahead and finish this cache first to make it more fun for the boys and not to cheat. (we only deployed remote cameras, gps tracking devices and areial surveylance for safety reasons). This cache reminded me of my days at Mornington's sunnyside beach????.
Thanks Chookies I enjoyed this cache.
Taken- bandage. Left- TB Fred and Mary, and address book.
Regards Mr.Coffee Ian.

The devices get more and more interesting as this series progresses.

I thought the rain would have started by the time I got here, but the sun was out, the day is turning quite pleasant.

in: mobile phone cover
out: beak

There's still some daylight left and we have found the toy/tool. We've got line of sight 1 and 2 and we're determined to get this one before the light goes. We figure out what we have to do and the young da bugs streak off arguing over who gets to use the toy/tool next.
We find the cache without any problems and get the next set of clues and are set for an assault on the 4th and final cache. Trouble is, there isn't much light left now and the logbook must be written and packed away and the toy/tool returned to its rightful place.
Took: Bandage & makeup brushes.
Left: polar bear, bird beak nose and a "da bugs" butterfly.
We'll check out the 4th cache area but don't hold out too much hope with the light as it is.
It's been great fun thus far though. Thanks "team Chookies" for an interesting and exciting cache series.
Regards Andrew "da big bug"

This was a novel way of finding the location and well up there as the favourite. Found the cache easily. On heading out muzza turned up again after finding his lost gps. Lucky muzza!!! Took pliers left coloured pencils and hangable clips

28-Aug-04
My 2nd in the series of 4 caches. Met Muzza at this cache and the race was on. Happily it was a joint effort in finding this cache. Quite happy to share the spoils with Muzza Wink. Loved this cache too, but not as much as No 1.
Cache found at 1040. Swapped some stickers for err... some more stickers.
Thanks Chookies another great cache. Now on to Number 2 while Muzza heads for number 1.

28-Aug-04
Having completed #2 in the series first, I headed back to this one. At the first location I noticed I again had phone coverage, so I decided to give Deb a call. Where are you I asked? Her response - 'At home in bed'. She didn't fool me. She had just completed #1 so I waited for her to join me and we completed this cache together - a joint first find.

All the caches in the series were fun but this one was my favourite. Later in the day I was talking to the Rooster and mentioned this to him. He said that this one was specifically done for kids - I'm just a big kid at heart, hence this was the most enjoyable.

At the cache, I took a hobby knife and left a thermometer fridge magnet. Thanks again for a great cache in a wonderful park.

28-Aug-04
After one cache down, one more cache beckoned,
And the the third of this four came in second.
So we logged this one more,
at a quarter to four,
at the spot we had worked out and reckoned.

The disguise at the first spot was great,
And the clues led us forthright and straight,
To the spot (as you say),
Where the cache truly lay,
And we chalk one more up to our slate.

Thanks Chookies again for the thought,
That all went into making this sport.
A paintbrush set left,
And some clips we did heft,
Now it's of to cache 2 we cavort.
