We found our first cache! - Hani and Luke

24-Jan-16
Having dropped the geodaughter at a nearby adventure park, I took the opportunity to find some oldest and finest in QLD. Parked the car at the start of the pathway and worked my way around to the GZ. Spotted the cache in no time and signed the log. Another nice little piece of remenant bush. TFTC wizbang

19-Jan-16
Very easy find. Nice view towards the coast. TFTC

04-Dec-15
This was one of the caches that I wanted to find today. I found the best access using the satellite view. I parked the car there and strolled to GZ. Although late in the season, a mother magpie swooped when she deemed that I was too close to her baby. At GZ, the cache was quickly spotted and the log signed. The local dogs decided to let everyone know that I was about as I made my way back to the car. TFTC

29-Sep-15
There's no way I describe my descent to the GZ as small walk. The T should be higher. I slipped on the way. And tried to look at alternative route bu I'm going further and dogs in the neighborhood are getting noisy. Glad I wore suitable shoes. TFTC

15-Aug-15
On our way to Coolangatta for the weekend with OrionJ and this was one on his map so made a slight detour on the way. After a nice energetic walk we arrived at GZ and soon the cache was in hand and our names added to the log. TFTC

15-Aug-15
A cache that I have been eyeing for some time, based on the time that it was hidden. However either never seem to be in the right place or has not seemed like a drive just for one.

Anyway today with LHE Duo on the way to Coolangatta, had this on the mind and it was but a short detour to come for a look. We parked at one spot, which left a little walk, but not to worry, soon found ourselves in a decent spot and of course soon spotted the cache. It does not look to be in the best condition, but is still basically dry and loggable.

Smile #2636

A few hours to spare so we decided to chase up a few smilies around the Nerang area.

Apparently some of the neighbours are 'sort of' aware what we are doing in the area as I was directed down the quickest approach. LOL ...
Such a shame that this cache, which was placed back in 2004, suffers from so much neglect. Sad
Nothing with us today to replace the cache with.
Found the 'temporary' log in a baggie stuffed in conduit & the empty green plastic container just laying on the ground, out in the open.
Might be a good idea if the CO shows a little interest or organises someone to adopt it if no longer wanting it.
Signed & replaced as found.

Yes this is a sadly neglected cache. I found the zip lock and a log sheet, but that is all. I did find a PVC pipe nearby to hide the log in. I left it where I foudn the log book, but it reaaly needs a new container.

11-Jan-14
Based on the way that I entered this park, and I note many whom have come before have chosen the same route as I, I was surprised to see the clearing had been mowed! What? Is the mower choppered in every so often?! Must be an easier way in but hey I'm here now. And my car is back at the top of the hill so I'm not going to go venturing any lower down!

Easy find once at GZ. Dropped off a travel bug and signed the log. Now to grab some dinner. TFTC.

My last morning in Qld before heading back home to Perth, so an early morning start was in order to discover some more caches around Nerang. This was number 3. I found this cache quite exposed which made it easy to find. Cheers

02-Nov-13
We certainly had fun trying to find the access point. We drove around a bit, then eventually found a tricky route to GZ. Thanks for the cache wizbang Smile

06-Sep-13
Woo found it down that little alley but the tree has crumbled and needs fixing as well as the last people didn't replace the prize so there is not much in there so if the owner could go check it out it would be great

25-Aug-13
This was a last minute stop for me as I was driving down the M1 on schedule to make an appointment, and I needed to get my cache for the day in order to keep the streak alive. I pulled up in the nearby residential street, grabbed the boy and dog and powered up the parkland hill. We made the dogs along the fence line go mental as we charged towards the GZ. Once there is was a quick find just as we had hoped for. The cache is all in good order and replaced to its original location with camo to cover. I left a TB to continue on its travels. TFTC.

Like those before me I parked the car and promptly set off the dogs barking. Big Grin
Down the side of the fence and along to the cache.
A quick find once there. Big Grin
Then set off the dogs again when I returned. Razz
Thanks for the cache.

When I first looked at this one and saw photos from Aussie Liahona, I thought they must have uploaded them to the wrong cache.
I parked at the top entrance which alerted the dog and everyone in a 10km radius that I had arrived. Headed in and went mmm, they were the right photos after all. Walked down the fence line then crawled through the last bit before coming out into a deep drainage area. Lucky it hadnt been raining. Found GZ easy enough with the tree hiding the cache has fallen apart from termites so the cache was out in the open. SL and covered with some dead wood. So many houses looking on and I didnt see one muggle.
Headed back up the hill. TFTC wizbang

14-Apr-13
Visiting from Newcastle, staying with my brother in Nerang, found with him (frayeromm), this was a killer trying to find the way in, first attempt I accidentally hit 'Found' as I was sliding down the hill and then accidentally hit 'Find Next' before I regained my footing so I found myself getting further away? Today we tried again and still couldn't find a better way in, so down the hill we went and found ourselves on the way to a find. Then we found the easy way in, unfortunately it was not the easy way back to the car, TFTC wizbang!!

28-Mar-13
All was well with the cache. Dropped of a largish TB as it needed a new home. Thanks wizbang.

26-Mar-13
Oh, to be a local. We went down this road, no. We went down that road, no. Another road, yes. We walked up there, no. We walked back and then up there, yes. Then we saw the obvious, a road only a short distance from GZ, instead of 587m's. This stood well for our return journey to this cache later after we had redone all the caches we had done here as we had lost our phone and did not have a clue where we left it. Yep, this was the last one we checked and here it was. A think a man in a nearby house may have seen me, I hope I have not comprised the cache. SL TFTC

20-Jan-13

First cache in a while. Good to get back to it. Smile

15-Jan-13
Didn't look at the map properly and just went for what seemed to be the quickest route to the cache. This turned out to be a steep downward hill and very tricky to get through. We then reassessed the map and moved to a different starting point. This was much easier and we had the cache in hand very quickly. TFTC

Easy find by dad, 2nd find in 10 mins!!!

27-Oct-12
Out for an afternoon caching working towards our 700th cache.

We have done all the caches around our area so I had to travel to get a good group together.

Thanks to the Captain my approach to the cache was clear.

The clouds were closing over so I almost thought I would give it a miss today but what's a bit of water when there's a smiley to be gained.

I don't know if the access has changed since this was first placed but maybe you could consider a terrain rating adjustment, maybe 2.

The local dogs made sure that anyone close by knew I was there but I saw no sign of life so zoomed in on GZ with confidence.

Nice hide, all was safe with cache, sorry I didn't have a replecement log book with me.

Thanks Wizbang TFTC SL TNLN

24-Oct-12
After our lack of being able to get easy access yesterday we came again today and used Captain Terrors listed entrance co-ordinates of S28.00.527 and E153.19.991 and we found that we could take the terrain 2.5, 400m walk up the hill and along the rock track to the cache hide. it was found easily in the obvious place and we added a couple of pieces of paper as the logsheet is almost full, put in a ziplock bag with an absorb sachet and also added a couple of toys for kids to find and swap. nice view from up here. There were dogs barking at us as we went and we had geodog with us today so we went along our way blending in nicely.

23-Oct-12
First possible access via our map were houses, so we went around to the main road and there was a skinny grassed area leading in so we headed in and found bush and almost a cliff. Not a rating one so we left our attempt for today as our map didnt show any other access, just house blocks. now that I read previous logs I have noted Captain terrors entry point and we will use that next time. We are interested though so thought we would leave a note to say HI.

Ok so I missed out on a FTF just up the road but all is not lost, I'll go get the travel bug out of this cache and get another smiley face Smile on the map.
As the kids and I trudged down the hill we came to GZ and found the cache easily.
As I was signing the log (which will need replacing real soon) the sky decided to open up and pour down on us! We made a run for the car but may as well jumped in a pool!
So with my caching luck for the day running low I decided we would go home to a hot shower.

Cache was very well hidden. Terrain is in our opinion 3 star and not 1 star. Don't consider bringing a pram or wheelchair! We left TB Norman the Koala as this was a nice bushy area. TFTC wizbang.

This one had us driving around for a while trying to work out where to park. Hated walking up the giant hill Sad but eventually got there and found the cache. Found with kadin92.

03-Apr-12
The logbook in this one needs replacing and maybe dropping in those parking co-ords as a help to future finders.

01-Apr-12
After first trying to approach from the top {totally not doable without a chainsaw} we went down a side street and found the easier way... walked around {very wet and muddy today... and my D-Man fell face first in the mud of course} - checked out a very pink birthday party going on in one of the houses below.... got side tracked by the thought of cake for a bit... then got down to business, found the cache nice and easily.... log book does need replacing as it is pretty disgusting, smelly and very wet.

01-Apr-12
Out and about with Whint and Baddal for this one today and after a navigation fail we were at what we thought to be the entrance to the park near an electrical box. SHort of a chainsaw, machete and ladder this was not going to be the way in. Previous logs stated it took some finding a way in, but no details. We drove around and soon spotted a likely entry. The co-ords for the entry are S28 00.527 E153 19.991. From there it was a 400m walk around and up the hill to the cache. There was a party going on down below, but nobody caring what we were up to. Soon the cache was found, but the logbook is wet beyond usefulness. Then back to the car and off to the next cache for the day, TFTC.

Nice walk with the family. A bit hot. Girls enjoyed the mystery. Tftf

19-Jan-12
After finding the correct way in, we enjoyed a pleasant walk in the sunshine to GZ. Interesting parks here wedged between all the properties. The log itself was signable, but we weren't sure which piece to sign. We flattened them all out again and signed on one of the original logs that had a large amount of space on it. Thanks for the cache.

A quick find for TassieGirl and I while passing throught the area.
Like others before us we took the fenceline approach and made our way over to GZ. Found the cache no worries and added our names to the list.
Not a bad spot for the odd view here either, TFTC.

Then we hiked down into this hidden little parkland... completely surrounded by houses..

Cache was soon in Gunnies hands for signing

I had attempted this one some time ago but, couldn’t find a way in. The entry point that Kaisho53 and I took in today had been dismissed by me last time as I thought it may have been private property.

Not wanting to let it get away twice though, we took the path down the fenceline and into the open area. From there, the rest was easy... If there is another way into here, it would be worth listing on the cache page to avoid cachers being approached by the residents.

The log was still damp but usable. As for the pencil, I wouldn't worry too much. Caching without your own writing implement is not a good option... Wink

Cheers Wizbang.

When I decided to tackle this cache, I did not think I would need to take a cut lunch with me to get to it!

The TomTom said there was road acces to the park at one point - but there was no way I was accessing through there. Tried a few other areas.. checked OpenMaps.. nothing. Hmm. Went on a hunch. Ahh this looks like a likely entrance.... 570m from the cache! *SIGH* Got my walking pole out and off I trotted. Up and over the terrain I trotted. Hmm this is all very well kept for an area difficult to get into. Then I saw it. A path! Blast! And then another one! Blast! I could have come in on either of those. Nevermind!

Got to GZ and started the hunt. I am not so sure about the Rating of "1" on the terrain. I would not want to be in a wheelchair getting ot this one Razz The cache was a little exposed but still in good condition. I can see why this one has not been muggled in the 7 years of its life - its a fair trot to get to! TFTC wizbang Smile

15-Jan-11
Had to return to this one - however once we had fought thru the jungle at the top entry we spotted the easier softer way.....not too bright as we had searched for another entrance to the park only a week or so ago. Easy find once in the park. TFTC

10-Oct-10
10.10.10 Yeah!! This is our TEN cache. Pouring with rain here on the Gold Coast and has been for some time so the ground is soggy everywhere. Set off to access this cache through the walkway between houses. Hmmm! Very steep slope down through deep Singapore Daisy. Wet and Slippery!!! Got to the bottom of that slope and had to go over a rise and walk through a storm water creek that was flowing quite fast. Made it through that, under trees, through mud and slush to the GZ which we spotted with no trouble. We had to laugh. We were on our way home from church in our church clothes. Hubby had taken his boots and tried to flatten the overgrowth to help me get through in a skirt. I'd taken my heels off as I'd thankfully had my croc type shoes in the car which I was able to wear through the streams and mud.
Took: Koala
Left: Scratchy in between log pages to try to keep it dry.
NOTE:: LOG IS GETTING DAMP if anyone can go with a zip lock to house it. Sorry we didn't have one with us.

13th of 20 today with two of my Geokids, the twins this time, James as always and Jemma, who really took a shine today to doing "Swaps" for toys. they had a ball "Treasure Hunting" on the golden coast. Bit of a walk to this one which had the kids grumbling a bit, but to bad for them..... lol. they enjoyed the downhill walk at the end. Dropped in a TB.

14-Aug-10
I drove to within 150m of this cache today and remembered that I've tried to "attack" this one before by completely circumnavigating it. I had more time and inclination today and took the top down attack. The terrain rating was a lot higher than 1!
Quick find once I had got through the knee high grass, knee deep drain and the odd spider web.

Eventually found an entrance into the park which resulted in a 250+ meter walk up a hill with the local muggle dogs causing a major stir. Not sure if the challenge was to find the cache or the entrance to the park ... perhaps both Smile

After finding the cache I was glad to leave the area, the local dogs made me feel very uncomfortable [^]

I reckon I know where 'MGROCKS' accessed this park, but I was less enthusiastic about that approach. Read some logs after driving all over the place and settled for the "uphill, 250 or so metres" approach. Made a nice walk and it wasn't too hard. Found the cache easily and signed the log. Lots of houses looking down on you here, but no one seemed to be watching me.

Easter Sunday cache hunt. TFTC and the exercise. I thought I parked near the cache but ended up circumnavigating the surrounding streets before I found an entrance to the area.... and was still 250 meters away. Thanks for the trek... I can eat some extra easter eggs.

As I grabbed the fancy geo-coin one of those Cache dwelling frogs hopped on in.

Thanks,
We've been out of Geocaching for a while now. I've dropped off a Geocoin that I've inadvertently held for a long time now. My apologies for holding on to this - I didn't realise I still had it. Anyway we've moved to Qld and the kids are old enough now to enjoy the "Treasure Hunts" so this was a good beginning. Nice view and a surprise walk. In a geocoin and finger puppet, out two simpsons tazos.

We too had trouble finding the entrance and difficult terrain riding our bicycles. Walked the last 200m not sure this is easy terrain. Good hide though and found after looking in hide for a good ten mins. TFTC 1st team to find for 2010. Log book would be better if bound or at least stapled together. Our final cache whilst in Oz. Took Father-In-Law with me after introducing him to the world of Geocaching just over 3 weeks ago. His GPS will hopefully arrive next week but by then we will be back in the UK so he will need to learn to use it with assistance from a distance.

Great location and we, like many other cachers, also managed to set several dogs off barking.

Took nothing. Left Wellington Womble.

This was quite a challenge, and I would rate the terrain 2.5 to 3 for an old girl like me, climbing up the hill. Took a while to find the way in, but it was great to finally find this one at last. The poor old log inside has nearly had it. I collected Gordo the Slug and left a couple of small items.
