As there's been no cache to find for some time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
Not the cache box, but the stump- including a photo of stump and GPS as log evidence:-)
After a couple of reports that this cache is missing I have disabled it. Unfortunately at this time I cannot make it to the site so will be unable to renew this cache.
Arrived at GZ to find the stump completely smashed, and after extending the search area to a 30m radius, chalked this one up to being gone.
Last one on the Island for us. Went off piste and found the twin towers. A short search revealed the hint item and the cache was soon in hand. A good end to a great day out. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely Island.
Fantastic day over at Quail Island - we hadn't been here before but will be back.
Jnr MKI found the cache, and had a great time doing it. Thanks for placing this cache here, it really was neat to be able to tick one off in such a superb spot.

Found while on a family trip to the island for the day. Was a nice day for a walk around the island and we picked up all the caches available on the way. Thanks for placing this cache
The box was broken in two places, one a gaping big hole taking up most of one side. So we replaced the box with a Christmas pudding container we had had our lunch in. TFTC

Found on a nice day on the island with the family finding all the caches we wanted to find.

Today we hired a kayak and was able to discover this island and found this geocache too. Thanks for placing!!!
Mallorcatommy and me had great fun searching this geocache! We rented a kayak to travel from island to island! Nice! Thank you for hiding the box!
A great day for visiting Quail Island with the whanau!! Having all you can eat breakfast before heading for a boat may not have been such a great idea, but the sailing was very smooth [^] Had an amazing walk all around the island, enjoying the great company, amazing weather and fun caches. We have signed the logbooks as Team Polak instead of listing the five user names to save space and caching time Nice spot to relax before heading back to the ferry. TFTC!!

Mum was up for the weekend along with one of my brothers, and so we went out with them, my brother that's up here for the summer, and my fiancee all on a caching trip over to quail Island! Fun times! We did go after eating an all you can eat breakfast... so although we didn't feel the need to stop for food all day... at least I felt sick the first half of the trip! Too full to move!! Haha.
Final cache for the day on the island!! Nice to have cleared up the island now! My map will look much better!! Haha.

Found trackable fly and dropped flower keyring. Cache container has reasonably large hole - may need maintenance, but the contents were dry so all is good. Replaced hole down.
Visiting Quail island with the 2wombles and collecting caches on a beautiful day. Wandered around to find the path up to the cache as we knew there had to be one. Found the twin towers and then a very suspicious area which would probably mean nothing to anyone except geocachers. From here it was down to the information center where I had a run in with a bee who stung me while I was lying on the grass and then back to the ferry. Cheers for the cache!
No problems locating this cache today. Container had about a 3cm hole in it, so really needs to be fixed. Rehid the cache with the hole at the bottom so hopefully the rain won't get in. Thanks for the cache.
A quick find and a wonderful view from the top of Quail Island, after coming up the short way with richbritty, GeoPom and GeoBen. TFTC! Find #889
Found on family trip to the island. #3 today. Container broken snd could do with replacing.
Enjoying a day on the island and was fascinated to the predecessor of the two islands - TFTC, #5780
At late log (29 April) for a find with Kiwicampnut on 8 March.
We finally got around to making the trip to the island after a couple of years of intentions.
Was a full ferry trip with a school group, and we headed for the info centre hoping the school group would head for the beach. We were right, and had a chat with the warden of the day before heading to find some towers.
If there is an easy way and a hard way to a cache we'll often find the easy way after finding the cache - which is what happened here ... an easy find once we got here and ten discovered another path that would have led straight to it.
Thanks

First stage - getting over to Quail Island after a number of years trying to - tick. Second stage find all the caches - well this was the first of many on the island that we found thanks for placing. Took the TB but it's down to one clip now. Will move on for you.
Second cache on our trip to the island and as usual decided on a more direct route and headed straight up the hill, Chelzea in tow. Nice easy find as hiding place stood out quite well even with the long grass. TFTC
This was the second of my six caches today. A bit of a climb on a hot day. I left my sunglasses behind here but went back for them later. Dropped of a trackable. Hopefully it wil be picked up soon and taken elsewhere.
On a mission geocaching the island for the day with Endmosteye44 and Dpmac, took badge left sheep, tftc
Apologies, i put my fingers through the side of the container when replacing this one, plastic just fell apart under my touch. The container will be open to the elements on one side now.
First trip out to Quail Island since we've started geocaching. A nice easy find to start the day.
After the first find at sea level on the island, our two cache hunters were keen for another, so uphill we headed. A straightforward hide that didn't disappoint. TFTC
a dash up the hill with Graemey to grab this one and enjoy the view. Dropped off another TB. TFTC
Finally got around to making the trip to Quail Island after getting some half price ferry tickets from a deal website. We picked a pretty good day to go, a bitter breeze ruined the oppourtunity for a swim, not that it stopped me. Thouroughly enjoyed our day out, would reccommend it to anyone thinking about it who hasn't been.
We missed the track turn to get here the easy way, and did a bit of high country bush wacking, we got there in the end I guess. TFTC (868)

Great minds think alike with fellow cachers around on the Island today. Nice quick find to round out the day. Great walk in a great location.
An easy find on a lovely day on the island - one of two we found today. Left my goodies behind, so TNLN
In conjunction with IceFest there were cheap ferry rides out to Quail Island today! A blustery cold afternoons family adventure was definately on the cards! Haven't been out here before. Great fun. Hopped off the ferry and wee dudes (5 and 2) managed to get up to the high point (with a bit of cajouling). A great spot for a cache. When we were up there there was a sonorous hoooot hooooooooot in the distance and a huge freight ship was leaving Lyttleton. Awesome. Mrs G then took the wee fellas down to the beach for some food and a play....I dashed off on a circuit of the island to snag some more caches.
And lucky last for the Day - #5 - 1.40pm - Left 'V' Key Ring/Bottle Opener - Took Nothing

#763: Visit to the Twins.
This was our ninth of ten finds on the island today. I bushwhacked my way in to GZ for this one, then found the nice groomed track for the way out. Cache is in good shape, with plenty of swag for the next finders.
SL/TFTC!

Good views indeed. One of the calmer spots on the island. It'd be a fabulous spot for a home. TFTC.
6th and final traditional for the day, what an awesome walk round the island, beautiful day.
Did the tour on Quail Island anti clockwise, so this was our starting point on a nice day. A strong wind, but very sunny and this was a promising start. TFTC
First find of a great day out with Sherbetweb and a clean sweep of all the caches on Quail Island. TFTC.
The Twin Towers was one of the last caches we found on our walk around Quail Island. We expected to come across a track up to this spot, but soon found ourselves walking past on the track below. From there we took a fairly circuitous route up to the Towers and soon found the cache. From that vantage point we could see the line of track markers we should have followed, but the track between the plantings was unmown and invisible. Thanks for bringing us up here.

Was wondering what the 'twin towers' could have been..... Lol! Lovely island! Tftc! Co-ords spot on again! : )
TFTC. My first cache on Quail Island - yeah. Great vantage point here. Thanks for the effort involved in placing a cache here.
Nice day for a putt putt over to the island on
a small inflatable boat. Good day for a jog
around the island. No trouble with this one. TFTC.

Pretty awesome half day out on Quail Island. Took the inflatable, 2.2hp outboard and fellow GC'er. 13 Minutes across from boat ramp and 8 caches later. TFTC.
Great to knock this cache off at last, one of my oldest unfound around here. Lovely day for visiting and I finally know what the two towers refer to Cheers Gav [7811]
Found the towers than the cache, then the crossword while waiting for the ferry. Thanks for getting us over here again.
This was to be our 1st find of the day caching on Quail Island. A great start, T4tC
Quick detour for this one, our first of the day. Added to a great walk round the island.
TNLN, TFTC.

At last, and easy one!
The only down side was the grass seeds. They completely covered my socks, and got into my boots. Painful!!
But at least we had a hot and sunny day.
Thanks for the cache matd, we enjoyed the walk.

Well, the intrepid explorers set out to conquer Quail Island - for a leisurely pace I'd recommend getting the 10.20am ferry. Hot going on a hot day, we tackled Mike's Twin Towers 1st & were pleased to have plotted an anti-clockwise course. Great views. TFTC, matd.
Found our first on the island with badjelly. Look out for a video at TheRoamingReliever.com
