Got very very muddy and found some evidence that I was in the right place, (think I found the clip off the container), but no luck for anything else.
Was in Brisbane over the break. But GPS didn't survive the trip back so am having to trace back my steps (date may be out by a day or two). Found easily enough with TanFin. Geotrail pointed the muddy way. Cache was wet - the container needs replacing to seal properly. TFTC
With flower1. Had a go at getting it as tide was out, but definately need gum boots. Will try again before I leave.
I was pretty sure we wouldn't get this one because neither Geo-sister nor myself has the necessary footwear but dropped by for a look anyway. It's a clever hide but as we suspected, it will have to wait for another day - stopped and bought the gum boots on the way home so we'll be back.
It wasn't a wasted trip as we found a couple of back-packers wandering around looking for the ferry to Moreton. We bundled them into the car and had a nice chat as we drove them to the Port of Brisbane to catch the ferry. Do you earn Geo-points for doing good deeds?

YUCKY!!!! Did say earlier in the day that I don't like getting my feet wet but this one could be ignored no longer! JackyLegs was wearing new runners and I wasn't keen on sending him in barefoot so there was only one thing for it. He did get asked "Do you know what she is doing?" by a passing photo-muggle - he's used to just shrugging and saying "I dunno" when his crazy Mum is concerned. The geo-track and obvious likey hide made it an easy find. Log is very soggy but signed and squelched out again. Thanks SOOOO much for this one - SVN07
Found pretty easily BUT VERY MESSILY with Jacko2143.
The cache was filled 3cm deep with water and everything soaked - including the log which wasn't properly sealed in its pouch :-/
Needs a bit of maintenance.

We thought of lots of places where the cache might be but as we got closer it was pretty obvious.
That didn't mean that it was a "nice walk" to get to it though. I lost my thongs in the slime!

Cache is a still wet. It is a bit of a muddy find. I dropped off Geodiversmuf so while it is not diving it is as close to the see without being in the sea.
It was time for new shoes anyway. We then enjoyed the walk along the boredwalk (sic) & emerged adjacent to our next destination. The wind was howling so it made for an interesting seascape. TFTC
Tipped out a bit of water within this cache. Probably needs to have a new container.
I've just been running through my records and it would seem that I haven't logged this one.
Out on Ekka Wednesday Piublic Holiday with Rastas000, & Mrs Rastas, in their truck, with me and theGeoHarem - consisting of my wife and her two mates from work - in mine.
Great day out, and sent Rastas to sign the log! Does it look like I'm going to get my feet dirty for a cache? Hahaha, not with Rastas about!

Boy, you weren't joking when you said to bring extra boots!! And I'm sooo glad I did - especially when I realised that I had neglected to drop off a trinket in the cache, and had to go back!! A very clever site - I really feel like a cacher now, braving all terrain's and conditions! Oh yeah, we're hooked! The contents are a little damp and musty - may be something to do with one missing latch on the seal. TFTC.
Out on this Ekka holiday to grab a few with Weekend Maverick (and the GeoHarem).. Even Mrs Rastas came along!!
The geotrail was noticable and fresh (and I see from the log previous why... It is a brave person who does the trek in and out twice!!)

I was in the area, so arrived at the 'quick grab' carpark before reading the notes. Hmmm, no gumboots in the car. Well, I'll go and have a look. Found what had to be GZ and decided to skip it and look around, as the area is worth a return visit with Mrs Lat&Long - we like strolling around places like this. Returning past GZ I stopped, looked at the ground, and while my head was gathering courage to think about it, my boots started walking and that was that. Had to keep moving so I wouldn't sink too far and managed to reach the cache. Grabbed 'Hissy' TB, left a squishy plastic frog and signed the log. The return trip completed successfully, I walked back to the car via as much grass as possible to clean my boots.
Found at 11:38hrs. Love this walk. Very interesting area. First time for us. Not too boggy under foot. A little moisture inside container but not too bad. Dried it out best I could.
Left fuses, took blue ball.
Finally found a container big enough for "Hissy" TB

Managed to keep fairly dry doing this one - just lucky timing I guess. Great cache placement TFTC.
A lovely walk in a really nice area. Retrieving the cache was a bit of a muddy experience but there was a tap around to fix that. Was good for my brand new bright white shoes to get a bit of colour anyway. TFTC!
Went out for a walk with the family today. I darted off to find this cache while Mrs and miss Rogainer continued around the circuit. My shoes got out of it fairly well - not too muddy.
This is a great board walk.

Do people absolutely HAVE to put caches in spider-infested locations? I mean, really??? I expect nightmares will result from this one. Huge thanks to my geomum who did the dirty work for me. TFTC. ='.'=
La Kedi had come prepared to retrieve this one but once she saw all the spiders and webs that was the end of it! Her spare shoes don't fit me so thank goodness for the Wet Ones tucked away in the bag. Between them and the long grass most of the mud was off before returning to the car. TFTC
aaaargh!,was amazed how many people walked past and did'nt even know i was there!,managed to keep me stump from not gettin' too muddy, thankS TGF.
Went on a caching spree and were happy to find yet another beautiful spot we were not aware of. Enjoyed our walk and made a record of five caches today! TNLN
Nice location, a few muggles around but they did not see me at the cache location. Found at 08:40 Took TB YYZRXA, will send it up north with Cowboymacca. TNLN, TFTC
There were mozzies by the hundreds!!! Luckily we came prepared with the correct footwear and the aeorgard and we used both!! IN Man /Magic Card OUT Stickers/Shell Left TB
Found the cache, typical idiot I am went after work and didn't bring the suggested footwear. Went bare foot and found it but would recommend gumboots. Also any future geocachers there is begining to become an obvious path for the last 20m, maybe try to avoid this so not to create unwanted attention.
I liked it though very good cache.

No mozzies today but that could change with the breeze. Low tide helped and I didn't even need to take the shoes off. someone walked by on the footpath and I just held my breath. They didn't even know I was there.

Was misguided by the comments about mud, so went first into a REAL muddy area, shoes stuck and stuff. After following track found the cache, bring mozzie spray when you come to find it.
Dropped by on the off chance that the tide would be with me. It was!! Nice easy find.
Thanks

Was following TomTom around on the Dark side of town this afternoon and found a cache called Dash & Grab close by, so we followed the directions whilst trying to find the cache notes for a seemingly new cache.....Arrived at the spot and had a quick look around, still not able to find any cache notes for the cache....Oh well, Dont get bored is only 300m away so I guess we'll do that instead. Once we read through the cache notes for this one it dawned on me that Dash & Grab wasnt a new cache I'd missed, but was in fact the parking co-ords... with that sorted we headed off for the cache. As noted previously, there is a path leading straight to GZ now, and being low tide, it was a very easy find. Lots of muggles in the area, so we took the cache back away from GZ to fill in the Log Book. Another break in Muggles saw it safely returned.
Grabbed the TB
Its amazing what they can do these days.....the carpark used to be the Wynnum Dump....I wonder if the nearby locals know that?!?

Found with Ted Bear.
This has been one of those caches that I looked at doing when I first started, and finally I've crossed it off the list.

Good cache easy find and stayed dry. As with the Winged Rats heaps of spiders webs especially when you are concentrating on where you put your feet.

Found by Sunshine Toledo at 4:00pm. This is a new bird park/hide area to me. See pix of hide. Unfortunately a path is starting to show on the way to GZ; let's hope for some rain and more water in the lake. In: swerve ball Out: orange car. TFTC
Wonderful area for a cache. We really enjoyed the boardwalk through the mangroves. We got the cache ok and kept an eye on the spiders and their huge webs as we proceeded on the trail. TNLN. Thanks The Garner Family

Great expierience although mumma Nanks stole mumma Harry's thunder as I had a sore knee & the gum boots. Mumma Nanks decieded she should go With the sideline advice from Mumma Harry she went straight to the cache site with great excitement from all on the sidelines. Left chalk took bath gel. TFTC.
Well, I can't claim full credit for this one. We came in tandem with the HappyHarries and Mrs HappyH was prepared with the gum boots. Her knee is dead [xx(] so I, (Mrs NANKS) don the attractive footwear! Mrs HH spots the hiding place from the path and in I go. SQUELCH, SQUELCH!!

What fun this was!!! GPS led us straight to it!! The Geo Mum decided she was the most experienced at mud walking so off she went. Right where it looked like it should be. I too thought I could have found myself a spare pair of shoes but only the one of each size was to be seen. How do we all just lose one thong? That is a good question to ponder! We took nothing and left nothing as I located the cache and did not want to walk out and back in and out again!! Thanks for the great location though!
Great cache, second time here. Arrived at 9.30am for a quick search, realized that I had deleted the co-ordinates for cache had no printout but decided to forge ahead anyway. Geowife (Terry) just knew where it would be, Ha Ha Ha. Geohusband and Geodad ended up on wide goosechase, mud nearly up to armpits(maybe a slight exaggeration). Geohusband (John) thought he knew where it would be, he was right, nowhere near where Geowife thought. A quick dash into the swamp and presto cache found. Back onto the path for signing log book, swap, a few photo's and back to hidy hole. Thanks for a great time.

great spot....i grew in these mangroves so it smelt like home..........nice easy find....just the way we like it as our gps is crap!!
Thanks to firemouth the cache has been replaced. This time I've used a plastic container to avoid the rust.
Cache has rusted up due to salty location (and can't be opened) and has been temporarily removed. Don't try to do this one at the moment or you won't find anything.
This was actually my second visit to this site. The first time was before I had my GPS and had no luck finding it from Google Earth image. This time, GPS assisted I had it within minutes. I think it must have been closer to low tide this time as it wasn't anywhere near as sloshy. I would recommend low tide for this one, but you will still need your gumboots/wellies/old shoes. At around 15:00 I came across this cache. Even though it wasn't Friday the 13th, it was Friday and it was also my 13th find. So wouldn't you know it, I couldn't get the cache container open as the salty atmosphere has played havoc with the ammo box. In fact the catch broke off while try to unlatch it. But the lid was seized significantly enough that I needed to take the whole cache container home to use some utensils to persuade it to open. So finally with the help of a rubber mallet I got it open. I have contacted the owners of the cache (The Garner Family) and will get it to them for some maintenance. Took Little Bugger #2 - Ladybird TB, else nothing and Left nothing, signed logbook. TFTC.

Found today as I was doing a run of Geocaches in the area.
I only had the waypoint on the GPS and not the notes. After finding GZ and seeing the mud flats I was almost tempted to come back another day.
What the heck... bundled up some sticks and rocks, stood on mangroves for the dash to the cache.
The ammo box is getting hard to open with the rust so would be helpful to bring a can of WD40 if you come out.

First find of the day on my way home from work. Been meaning to nab this one for ages. GPS reception wasn't great so I walked in circles for a few minutes before I got close enough to work out where it was. Definately a muddy experience.

Found the cache with no problems after a very pleasant walk. We made no trades as I had left the swap items with the kids back on the track. We then continued on the board walk and completed the circuit including the detour out to the bird hide.
Another excellent location we didn't know about before.

Fought my way through the mud and mozzies. Great site, first time that I have been this way, although I have seen the hide from the Port road before.
I did the boardwalk at mach 10 to try to outrun the mozzies, how fast can those things go?
Shame I didn't read the previous log about the mozzie repellant! TNLN.

The bird is almost certainly a forest kingfishter (Halcyon macleayii).If.
And no I,m not a twitcher.
And no I,m not a twitcher.
My take on the Kingfisher debate(Four Bear's photo):
Checking my source*, I reckon this little guy is definitely a male of the Eastern race (subspecies) of the Forest Kingfisher. The small white patch above the beak is shorter than the white lores of the Collared Kingfisher, the Collared has an olive green head cap that extends into a black face mask and he's more green than blue along the back and wings. The Forest Kingfisher's habitat does include mangroves so it wouldn't be unusual to find it here.
I therefore concur with Citria's identification.
I couldn't find a Kingfisher when I went back to the area recently but I did get a nice Great Egret (Ardea Alba)in breeding plumage.

Enjoyed the stroll in a very interesting area. Plenty of birdlife in the wetlands. Found the cache fairly quickly but the mozzies found me quicker.

In response to the 4-Bears question about the bird species they photographed ....
2 possibilities:
Based purely on the photograph, I would say that you've photographed a male, Eastern Forest Kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii incincta). However, given the fact that you found the bird in a mangrove area, it could also be a male Collared Mangrove Kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris). These birds next mainly in mangrove hollows and are common in mangroved areas; they are rarely found south of Brisbane.
A good book for ID-ing birds is "The Slater Field Guide to Australian Birds", published by Reed New Holland, Sydney.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Citria

Another one of those areas, I didnt know existed, despite being only a few klms from home. Found it easily and didnt get too muddy. According to cache log Rong & I were there at the same time. Took pens left water pistol
Had been to this area a couple of months ago as Deco was looking at setting a cache here. The Garners beat them to it. Came back today with Deco and Mrs Deco and found the cache easily with only a little mud and water (must have picked the tides right).
I was a bit concerned about disturbing the environment but as long as there are not frequent searches then the mangroves will not be disturbed to any great extent. TNLN

Found this one while filling in a bit of time in the area. It was far to hot a day to be out. I didn't bring the gumboots, in fact I didn't bring anything. I was wearing my trusty geocaching leather shoes that experienced the hot path and then the cool mud. Did the round trip and explained geocaching to a gentleman who quizzed me over what I had in my hand (GPS) and what was in the blue box (PPC), but he is still none the wiser WHERE it is.

Loved the location for this cache.
If you are going to bother coming here then I would urge you to make a small effort and walk the long way along the boardwalk - any other way and you aren't doing the area justice, it really is spectacular especially on a sunny day.
No trouble with mud as the water at GZ was ankle deep so I just got wet instead. Not sure how environmentally sound it is to go walking through the mangroves, I hope it doesn't do any damage.
TNLNSL. Thanks for getting us out to this great location Garners.

A quick dash for cache on way home from work. You don't need the hints for this one( I felt cheated in reading the hint)as my GPSr was pointing straight at the most likely cache site from the track. Mud is good, mangrove mud is better. Lots of BIG mossies
i must admit i had my doubts, facing getting my pretty self muddy and all
but in the end, a BIG cold beer gave me all the courage i needed to go for gold.
too bad all the crushed mangrove roots, hope they regenerate quickly.

This one wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The mangrove roots provided just enough cushioning (not that a slim, petite athlete like myself requires much ) and I managed to slowly squelch my way to the cache without landing in the quagmire. A bit of mud on the runners but nothing that a good walk through the nearby long grass and then a wash under the tap wouldn't fix.
I've been in this area some years ago when I snapped a few photos for the bird hide locationless cache.
Thanks Garners.

The picture of my feet/pants was after I went walking around exploring the area. Like Manta said, finding the cache it self won’t get you that muddy.
I kept walking and went left (opposite the board walk)

Well done Snipe! I'm pleased to hear that I'm still keeping some cachers on their toes. I had to work that afternoon and seriously considered doing it on the way, as it wasn't too far off track for me, but mud and uniforms don't mix. I would have been there around 12.30. The truth is that my odd working hours take away as many caching opportunities as they provide so it actually works out pretty fair for everyone. I will, however, hide my car keys more securely from now on...

FTF!!! w00t!!!
Found this cache had popped up on the site and thought that it required my immediate attention. Pack my bag and set off. Reached the car park for the quick attack because I didn’t think I would have the time to attempt the full walk with an already cloudy outlook and a strong wind gust.
After getting within 20 meters I had a good idea on where it was going to be and sure enough I found it @ 15:57
I decided to take the cache back to the path since there was a lot of muggle activity and I didn’t want to give the position away.
As I was filling out the cache log an old muggle with a dog walked past, stopped, gave me a weird face and walked off...
Put the cache back after an item swap and made sure no one was watching.
Took: Smelly Belly toy
Left: Wooden box of dominos
I went on to explore the man made paths getting even more covered in mud, and ended up climbing onto a boardwalk to escape the incoming tide.
Thanks Garner Family for such a nice cache adventure,
